Before the rain becomes strong, the umpires have signalled the groundstaff to get onto the field and the players are coming off. It isn't heavy at the moment but the umpires don't want to take any risks. Hopefully, the delay isn't a long one. We are minutes away from the start of play. But first, the two sets of players line up for their respective national anthems. It will be Australia's national anthem first followed by the national anthem of Sri Lanka.

Aaron Finch captain of Australia informs Alex Carey, Marcus Stoinis and Pat Cummins come in, adds there have been a couple of unfortunate changes due to injuries. Finch ends by saying they would have batted first but he backs his side to chase down anything later on.

Sri Lanka skipper, Dasun Shanaka says it is a used wicket and there might be some assistance for the spinners later on. Shanaka says they need to do more in the middle order and they have had a serious chat about their batting and he hopes they can do well. Informs they have a debutant in the form of Dunith Wellalage and Dhananjaya de Silva also comes in.

PITCH REPORT - Russel Arnold is pitchside. Arnold says it is the same pitch on which 176 was chased down. Adds it should be a good one to bat on. Mentions it seems dry and maybe on the slower side. Reckons there might be turn as we saw in the last game played here but it should not be a hard wicket to bat on. Ends by saying 250-260 should be par.

The hosts were pretty poor with the bat in the T20I series but that last game will give them hope that they can go up against a world class bowling unit. Still they will have to be patient and maximize their chances if they are to take a lead in this series. So, one of the few times in recent history that we see a five-match ODI series.
