Commentary
We are back for the chase! Sunrisers Hyderabad are making their way out to the middle now. Lucknow Super Giants have gone back to their old opening pair, which means no Rishabh Pant. It will be Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh. The umpire makes the 'X' signal for the Impact Sub, as SRH bring in Eshan Malinga for Travis Head. Left-arm spin of Harsh Dubey will start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...
... THE RUN CHASE ...
LSG dominate early, recover well at the death - Lucknow Super Giants delivered a strong bowling performance, much like they did against Delhi. Mohammad Shami was unplayable, removing the dangerous Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma early and finishing with outstanding figures of 4-0-9-2. Prince Yadav and Digvesh Singh piled on the pressure, reducing SRH to 26/4, a familiar script for LSG. However, they once again allowed a big partnership to develop, something that could have been avoided had Mukul Choudhary held onto Klaasen on 19. The missed chance proved costly as Klaasen and Reddy rebuilt superbly. Just when the game seemed to be slipping, Manimaran Siddharth struck at a crucial moment to dismiss Reddy, shifting momentum back. Avesh Khan and Prince then closed things out brilliantly at the death, ending up with two wickets each and ensuring SRH didn’t run away with it. With the batting firepower they possess, LSG will be confident of chasing this down, though Hyderabad are unlikely to make it easy. Join us in a bit for the second essay.
Let's hear from Avesh Khan - Avesh Khan says that they have done well to keep the opposition down to 156. He reckons that they had a great Powerplay and even after things got away a bit in the middle overs, they did well at the death to come back. Avesh feels that the wicket was a bit sticky to begin with and batting wasn't easy but it got better after getting baked in the sun. On his death bowling, Avesh says that he practices his skills, including the yorker and slower balls, a lot in the nets and just tries to execute them in the game.
A tale of two halves for SRH - Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered an early setback, losing Abhishek Sharma for a duck in the very first over. Things only got worse as their dangerous top order failed to fire, leaving them reeling at 11/3, which soon became 26/4. At 35/4 at the halfway mark, they looked completely out of the contest and in desperate need of something special. That's when the Klaasen-Reddy duo, who had flourished earlier against KKR, stepped up once again. They shifted gears brilliantly, smashing 79 runs in the next 30 balls and completely swinging the momentum. The pair stitched together a record-breaking 116-run stand for the fifth wicket, for SRH, with both bringing up impressive half-centuries. However, their dismissals in quick succession proved costly, as the finish lacked punch, with the lower order failing to make any meaningful contribution.
Phases traded, but LSG hold the advantage - We've witnessed a gripping contest between bat and ball. Lucknow Super Giants set the tone with a superb effort in the first ten overs, keeping things tight and striking at key moments. Just when it looked like they had complete control, the Klaasen-Reddy duo unleashed a counterattack, injecting momentum into the innings and pushing Sunrisers Hyderabad towards a respectable total. However, LSG bounced back strongly at the death, regaining control and finishing the innings on a high. They'll certainly be the happier side heading into the break.

OUT! HARSHAL PATEL IS RUN OUT! Prince Yadav brings out another slower bumper and bowls it wide of the off stmp. Aniket Verma advances and throws his bat at it but fails to get a connection and the batters go for another bye. The keeper, Rishabh Pant, picks it up and scores a direct hit at the batter's end and Patel is nowhere in the picture. There is a bit of confusion as it seems SRH want to review it for another head-height wide but eventually, no review is taken and the first innings comes to an end. SRH finish with 156/9 on the board.
A review wasted, but no harm in going for it at this stage either. Banged in short and on off, slightly slower too. Harshal Patel swings and misses but the batters scamper through for a bye as Rishabh Pant gets a bad bounce behind the stumps. Patel takes the review for a wide over the head. The third umpire has a quick look at it and replays confirm that it is within head height. Just the bye then.
FOUR! Wow, right out of the screws! Full-pitched delivery around off, Harshal Patel keeps a stable base and pummels the ball flat over wide mid off for a boundary.
The next batter in is Harshal Patel.
OUT! TIMBER! Prince Yadav gets the length spot-on this time and gets a wicket as well. This is full and fast on off, ends up being a yorker that tails in a touch as well. Shivang Kumar hangs back but ends up playing all around it and sees his off pole cartwheeled out of the ground.
FOUR! That's a delightful shot from Kumar. Full and outside off, Shivang Kumar lunges across and laps it on the full, managing to get it over short fine leg for a boundary. The 150 is now up for SRH.
Good stop from the skipper. Yorker to start from Yadav, tails back into the pads. Verma fails to dig it out and the ball clips the inside of the pads and rolls to the left of the keeper. Rishabh Pant scampers and dives, keeping it down to just one leg bye.
Who bowls the last over? It will be Prince Yadav (3-0-26-1).

A Khan4-0-36-2
A low full toss, dips on the batter and Verma swings it away to deep mid-wicket for a run. Just 2 runs and two wickets off the over.
Another golden dot ball. Yorker-length from Khan, bowls it on the fifth stump line. Aniket Verma takes a step forward and jams it firmly to short cover, where the fielder makes a sharp stop.
Full and straight, Kumar jams it out through mid on and picks up a single.
No hat-trick for Avesh but a dot ball is surely the next best thing. Fullish length, at the stumps, Shivang Kumar tentatively manages to keep it out.
Who faces the hat-trick ball? It will be Shivang Kumar.
OUT! CHOPPED ON! Avesh Khan with the double whammy and all the momentum for SRH is getting sucked back out by LSG at the death. Khan bowls a cross-seam delivery, back of a length and angles it across off, as he sees Harsh Dubey advancing down the track. Dubey ends up playing too close to the body and gets an inside edge that goes back on to rattle the stumps.
Two quick wickets for LSG, and they can take a sigh of relief. Harsh Dubey comes out to the middle now.
OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Another fine take behind the stumps from Rishabh Pant and both set batters are back in the hut in quick succession for SRH. Avesh Khan goes full, searching for the yorker on the off stump. This is served at 131.7 kph and Heinrich Klaasen gets a bit cute as he attempts the reverse lap. It is a tired-looking shot and he gets it off the face of the blade. The ball goes wide of the keeper as Pant dives to his right and clings onto the ball with both hands.

Full again, well wide outside off, Klaasen lunges across and reaches out to sweep it behind square leg for a run.
Nice and full, just outside, hit away along the turf and down to long off for a single.
End of a superb 116-run partnership. No respite for LSG, as another power-hitter in Aniket Verma walks out to bat now.
OUT! CAUGHT! The persistence finally pays off for Manimaran Siddharth as he gets one ball spot on. This is full and wide, flirting with the tramline outside off. Nitish Kumar Reddy goes after it but has to reach for it and ends up lofting the drive straight to Prince Yadav at deep cover. Yadav makes no mistake, and LSG finally manage to get the breakthrough they were desperate for here.
WIDE! Another full toss, this time well wide of the off stump. Left alone for a wide.
Gets away with it, does Siddharth. A juicy full toss, wide outside off, Heinrich Klaasen reaches out to smack it over deep cover but ends up slicing it. The man in the deep collects it on the half volley and keeps it down to a single.
A full toss now, around off, spanked away wide of long off for a couple of runs more.
FOUR! Hammered down the ground! Fired in, full and straight, Klaasen stays deep, gets under the ball and swats it back over the bowler's head for a boundary.
Commentary
Onto the next one - Three down, one more to go in this stacked weekend of the 2026 IPL season. We now have seen 7 teams get at least a win on the board, with just 3 teams remaining without a win. One of those three teams features in the final clash of this weekend as Chennai Super Kings head to Bengaluru to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Southern Derby. CSK have opted to BOWL first in that game, and you can switch tabs to tune in to our coverage of that game. Cheers!
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Mohammad Shami wins the award for his superb spell (4-0-9-2). He says that he is happy with his performance, and he just tries to do well. Adds that they lost the first game, and it was important to win this one. Mentions that if you love cricket, you have to work hard to play at a good level. Shami shares that to execute your skills, it is important to stay fit, and he managed to do that by playing a lot of domestic games this season to keep his rhythm and flow. Ends by saying that he played here last season, and knew that slower ones would be key on this surface.
The victorious skipper of Lucknow Super Giants - Rishabh Pant says that it's a big plus when you stay till the end and win the game for your side. Adds that you need to appreciate the bowlers a bit more and credits the individuals who did a fine job in the first innings. Pant mentions that you can be a bit critical in terms that they haven't played a perfect game yet, but just need to keep tweaking and improving with every match. On his own knock, Pant says that all's well that ends well and doesn't want to talk about how hard he has been working in the nets and wants his bat to do all the talking.
Presentation Time...
A quick chat - Aiden Markram is up for a flash interview. He says that he was happy to be back at the top. Adds that he is happy to bat anywhere but has a good relationship with Mitchell Marsh, and they go along well. Mentions that he thought when he was out there, it was the best time to bat on this wicket. Markram shares that it got a lot slower later on, but he and Marsh just went about their business and expressed themselves. Ends by saying that if he is not bowling, that means his team is doing well.
The captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad - Ishan Kishan says that it was a really good game of cricket. Adds that the total was not great but he is pleased with his bowlers for taking it to the last over. Mentions that losing four wickets in the Powerplay ultimately made the difference, but also praises the way Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy batted to get them to a fighting score. Kishan also credits Rishabh Pant for taking his side home, but overall, he is happy with his team's effort. Says that a couple of boundaries here or there cost them, but it was good to see Harsh Dubey and Harshal Patel bowling so well.
So close, and yet so far for SRH - Sunrisers Hyderabad made a comeback twice in the contest but it simply wasn't enough as those first 10 overs with the bat made all the difference. Defending a fairly low total in terms of modern T20 cricket, SRH did get an early breakthrough but that 2nd-wicket partnership between Markram and Pant took the game away from them. However, wickets in the middle phase are so crucial and SRH started to slowly make their way back in the game. Harsh Dubey was one of the standouts with the ball, along with the likes of Eshan Malinga and Shivang Kumar as well. Harshal Patel bowled a fine penultimate over to give SRH a big chance but Jaydev Unadkat was unable to deliver, and SRH slumped to their second defeat in three matches. Earlier in the game, the Sunrisers had a woeful start with the bat and their highly-rated and highly-destructive top three flopped hard. Heinrich Klaasen yet again stood tall in that middle order as Nitish Kumar Reddy used his confidence from the last game to play another fine knock as well. The duo added 116-run as SRH fought back and got over 150 runs after being 35/4 at the end of 10 overs.
Nervy win, but a win after all - It was a shoddy batting performance in their opening game against the Capitals and once again, they nearly undid all the good work that was done in the first innings by the bowling and fielding. LSG will be thanking their stars as their skipper, Rishabh Pant, really dragged them over the line as wickets kept falling all around him. It was a very solid start with the bat as Aiden Markram hit the ball sweetly but once he fell, no one really took the time to get in and stick around with Pant. Abdul Samad hit a couple of boundaries but even he gave it away at the death and that nearly cost LSG big time as they didn't have much batting left in the tank. In terms of the first innings for LSG, they started perfectly with the ball as Mohammad Shami dismissed Abhishek Sharma in the very first over. He then got rid of Travis Head as well and the others pounced to bog down SRH at 26/4. However, in the middle overs, there was a lack of control and discipline and the death bowlers had to be on the top of their game in order to pull things back.
Nawabs topple the Nizams in a humdinger - Rishabh Pant with the heroics for his team! A well-fought game but eventually, Lucknow Super Giants have managed to get over the line in Hyderabad and pick up their first win of the season. Sunrisers Hyderabad did do well to make LSG fight hard for the win, but 156 was always going to be very tough to defend.
FOUR! Rishabh Pant has done it! LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS WIN BY 5 WICKETS. Jaydev Unadkat goes full again and just outside off. Pant crouches on one knee, extends his arms and lofts it over mid off for a boundary. Holds his pose for the cameras.
Two dots in a row! Much fuller and on off, Rishabh Pant drills it straight to mid off. 1 needed in 2 now.
Still not done, a dot now! A wide yorker, outside off, Rishabh Pant reaches out and jams it out to covers. He lets out a huge shout for no.
FOUR! SCORES LEVEL! This is special from the LSG skipper. Jaydev Unadkat bangs this into the pitch, on middle, takes pace off. Rishabh Pant backs away and plays it like a tennis player's smash with his bat coming over his head. He falls over but makes sure to clear the mid off fielder for a boundary.
FOUR! Oh, that is a superb shot under pressure! Jaydev Unadkat misses the yorker by a fraction, serves this full and on middle. Rishabh Pant stays leg side of the ball and drills it straight back past the bowler. Liam Livingstone from long off runs to his left and dives, but the ball wins the race to the fence. 5 needed in 5 now.
Final over coming up. 9 off 9 has now become 9 of 6 for LSG and all the pressure goes back onto the shoulders of their skipper, Rishabh Pant. Jaydev Unadkat (3-0-38-0) will bowl the final over. Can he defend 8 runs and write his name in the history books?

Massive appeal for LBW, and the finger goes up this time! However, LSG take the review. Harshal Patel bowls a slower one, a full toss, on off, dipping in late. Mukul Choudhary swings early and gets hit on the pads. UltraEdge confirms no bat involved, and Ball Tracking shows that the impact is outside off, which saves the batter. Good review from LSG, but three dots in a row to finish the over from Patel.
Two dots! A full toss, on off, there to be put away. Mukul Choudhary has a heave across the line but misses and gets hit on the pads. Maybe the ball just takes the toe-end of the bat.
Big shout for caught behind, turned down! This is back of a length and just around off. Mukul Choudhary shuffles across early to play the scoop but misses. Ishan Kishan grabs it behind the stumps and appeals for the catch, but gets nothing from the umpire. He thinks about the review but does not take it.
Another low full toss, around off, Rishabh Pant drills it through cover-point for a run.
Short of a length and outside off, slower as well. Rishabh Pant slaps it towards sweeper cover and calls for the second. Nitish Kumar Reddy moves to his left but fumbles while trying to pick it up, and the batters get the second easily. SRH cannot afford to do that now.
Low full toss, on middle, Mukul Choudhary lofts it on the bounce to wide long on for a single.

FOUR! That puts LSG ahead again! A quicker, low full toss, on middle. Rishabh Pant manages to get underneath it and smashes it down the ground wide of long on. Liam Livingstone runs across to his right, dives in but only manages to parry it over the fence for a boundary. That also brings up the FIFTY for Pant. It has been a captain's knock from him, back at Number 3, but he will want to finish the job now.
Darts in a yorker, outside off, Mukul Choudhary jams it out to long off for one.
A late twist in the tale? 18 needed off 14 balls as Mukul Choudhary now walks out to bat.
OUT! CAUGHT! Harsh Dubey strikes, and SRH are still alive in this game. He tosses it up, full and around off. Abdul Samad looks to go for the big one over long off, but slices across it. He gets more height than distance as the ball flies straight into the hands of Liam Livingstone, who makes no mistake.
Flatter, full and on leg, Rishabh Pant flicks it to deep mid-wicket for a single.
Floated, short and around off, Rishabh Pant reaches out and stabs it out to extra cover.
Crowd catch! Floated, full and on middle, Rishabh Pant uses his feet but yorks himself. He bunts it out back to the bowler. A loud cheer from the crowd as they think it is a catch.

Hard length and just outside off, Rishabh Pant punches it through extra covers for one more.
Goes for another slower bouncer, and gets it right, just around off. Rishabh Pant slashes his bat at it but fails to connect.
Pitched up and around middle, Abdul Samad lofts it over the bowler's head, but long off cuts it out by running to his left. They cross.
FOUR! Gets it over! Short of a length and well outside off, takes pace off again. That is just a hit-me ball with no protection in the deep. Abdul Samad hops on his toes, uses the width and cuts it over point for another boundary. 21 needed in 21 now.
Slower one, on a length and around off, Abdul Samad guides it away but straight to point.
FOUR! Almost takes out his partner! Eshan Malinga misses the yorker just by an inch, full and on off. Abdul Samad gets under it and blasts it down the pitch. Rishabh Pant reacts well to move out of the way as the ball races to the fence in a flash for a boundary.

Goes fuller and on off, Abdul Samad drives it to sweeper cover for one. 14 runs off the over, 29 needed off 24 balls.
Short again and on middle, Rishabh Pant rolls his wrists and pulls it through square leg for one.
Bangs this into the pitch, on middle, slower again. Rishabh Pant winds up for the hook, but adjusts and just dabs it towards square leg and calls for the second. Ishan Kishan, the keeper, runs towards the ball and throws it back, but Pant is easily home.
FOUR! This releases all the pressure! A full toss now, on middle, tailing in a bit. Rishabh Pant does not try to hit it hard, just flicks it away using his wrists. He finds the gap in front of square on the leg side for a boundary.
Short of a length and on middle, takes pace off. Rishabh Pant uses his feet and swats it to deep mid-wicket for a brace.
FOUR! Good start after the break! Back of a length and angling down the leg side, there to be hit. Rishabh Pant gets across a bit and helps it on its way to the deep fine leg fence for a boundary.
Strategic Break! Lucknow Super Giants will feel they are still ahead in this chase, but the last couple of wickets have certainly made things interesting here, giving SRH a glimmer of hope. However, as long as Rishabh Pant is out there, LSG can breathe easy, but the pressure of getting his side over the line will be there. Hyderabad know that if they can nick him out, they can put pressure on the other batters and take this game as deep as possible. A really exciting last five overs are coming up for us now.

Another cutter from Malinga, back of a length and wide outside off. Pant slaps it to deep cover, but for just one more.

Very full and on off, Abdul Samad jams it hard into the surface and the ball goes straight to the cover fielder.
Pitched up fuller and in the channel, Samad gets onto the front foot and plays an eye-catching drive to the left of long off. The fielder in the deep tidies up and the batters get two runs.

On the shorter side, over middle, Pant pulls it off the back foot to deep mid-wicket for a single.
Nice and full, around off, Rishabh Pant pushes it back to the bowler.

Slow and short outside off, swatted towards cow corner for a single.
Two quick wickets and SRH are clawing their way back here. Abdul Samad joins his skipper out in the middle now.
OUT! RUN OUT! Can't even call that a stumping, what was Nicholas Pooran thinking? Shivang Kumar tosses this one up, full and angles it down leg. Pooran lunges across to get inside the line and sweep it fine but ends up getting a bottom edge into the turf. Pooran thinks this has gone past the keeper but it has actually bounced straight into the keeper's gloves and Pooran sets off for the single. Another one that is fired in, full and on the pads. Nicholas Pooran fails to get a bat on it and the ball goes off the pads behind square leg for a leg bye.
A full-bunger on middle and leg, Pant is a bit surprised and ends up just nudging it down past short fine leg for a run.
Fuller and on the stumps, lofted down to long on without any timing and Pooran picks up a single.
Bowled quicker, a bit full and wide outside off. Pooran leaves it alone.
Nicholas Pooran is out there in the middle now.
OUT! STUMPED! That's very clever bowling from Harsh Dubey. He sees Ayush Badoni stepping out of his crease and holds it back a touch before darting it full and wide outside off. Badoni shimmies to the leg side a bit as well and is unable to reach out and get any sort of willow on it. OUT! TAKEN! Maiden IPL wicket for Shivang Kumar, and it is a big one. He dishes out a wrong 'un, full and around off, turns away a shy bit. Aiden Markram looks to take it on and go big downtown. However, due to the away spin, he connects more with the outer half of the bat and does not get the elevation on the shot. It goes straight up in the air towards long off, where Liam Livingstone settles under it and takes a simple catch. Shivang is pumped up with that one. LSG are 77/2, needing 80 runs in 64 balls.

FOUR! Good effort but goes in vain! Full again and on middle and leg. Rishabh Pant picks it up and whips it away. It flies wide of deep backward square leg, where the fielder runs to his right and puts in a dive. He tries to grab it with his outstretched right hand but fails to hold on to it, and it goes for a boundary.
Just over! Fuller delivery, on off, Rishabh Pant looks to loft it away but his bat turns in his hands. It goes high up in the air behind mid on, where Liam Livingstone backpedals, but the ball just goes over his head. Two taken.
Strategic Break! With 90 needed off 72 balls, the Super Giants are currently acing this chase as they have lost just one wicket and Aiden Markram is looking in fine touch. The Sunrisers, meanwhile, lack an out-and-out pacer, which means early wickets are hard to come by and they will need a big performance from the spinners and someone like a Harshal Patel now to get back into the game. For now, LSG are well in command but a couple of wickets in quick succession can expose that not so deep batting line-up, so let's see if there's any shift in momentum after the break.

End of a superb 116-run partnership. No respite for LSG, as another power-hitter in Aniket Verma walks out to bat now.

Hard length on off, tapped back to the bowler.
A misfield but it doesn't cost any extra runs for LSG. Back of a length, around off, punched away to the left of cover, where the fielder parries it behind. Just a single.
Avesh keeps the length full and bowls it outside off, Klaasen drives it square through the off side and picks up a brace towards sweeper cover. Up comes the 100-run stand between these two as well.
FIFTY up for Nitish Kumar Reddy as well. Back-to-back knocks of real substance from NKR and he's finding his purple patch here. Pitched up, full on off, drilled down to long off for a single.
A tailing yorker on middle and leg, Klaasen manages to clip it away behind square on the leg side and pick up a single.
Strategic Break! Well, remember, we said Lucknow Super Giants are on top at the first break. That's not the case anymore, as Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy have done it yet again, actually doing even better than what they did against KKR. Their stand is worth 97 runs now, the record-breaking 5th wicket partnership for SRH, and if these two continue like this, 200 is also possible here. Lucknow Super Giants are suddenly running out of ideas, but they have to be positive and execute their plans in the death overs as a couple of wickets here, and they will be in control again. Flatter, full and outside off, Heinrich Klaasen drills it through cover-point for one more.
WIDE! Darts this one full and outside off, close to the tramline. Heinrich Klaasen goes down for the reverse sweep but misses. It is called a wide but LSG take the review. Short of a length and around off, takes pace off, Nitish Kumar Reddy pulls it to deep mid-wicket for another run.
Low full toss, on middle, tailing in, Heinrich Klaasen clips it through square leg for a run.
On a length and on middle, Nitish Kumar Reddy nudges it through mid-wicket for a single.
SIX! Finally, something to cheer for the Hyderabad crowd! This is fuller in length and just outside off. Nitish Kumar Reddy extends his arms and swings through the line, dispatching it over the long off fence for a biggie.
Prince Yadav is brought back into the attack. However, there's a slight hold-up in the play. Mohammad Shami went off the field and was replaced by the substitute fielder and the umpires are asking Rishabh Pant whether an Impact Sub has been used or not. After a couple of minutes, it is all sorted and LSG haven't used the Impact Sub for now as Shami is back on the field.

Well, that's not a regular sighting in T20 cricket, a leave from Heinrich Klaasen. Slightly short and wide outside off, holds in the pitch. Klaasen lets it go.
Nice and full, just outside off, driven to wide long off for a single.
Fuller one, speared in at the pads, Reddy clips it firmly but straight to mid-wicket.
A big appeal from the bowler for LBW, turned down. Floated up, slightly full and on middle, angling in. Nitish Kumar Reddy goes for the switch hit but misses and gets struck on the pad. Rishabh Pant has a wry smile on his face and doesn't review it. Ball Tracking later shows that it would have been umpire's call on wickets.
Length ball, darting back in from outside off, stays a bit low as well. Reddy jams it out to covers.
Oh, that's hardly a chance for the keeper. Flatter one outside off, Heinrich Klaasen looks to cut but it's pretty full and gets an inside edge. The ball goes through the legs of the keeper and down to fine leg for three runs.
Strategic Break! Well, it's pretty safe to say Lucknow Super Giants are on top here. Mohammad Shami was sensational, and this is the second game in a row that they have picked up four wickets in the Powerplay. Rishabh Pant has been excellent with his bowling changes, but they will hope that they don't make the same mistake they did against DC, and not let any significant partnership build here. SRH are in a consolidation phase, and this stand between Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy will be crucial. They will have the confidence after scoring 82 runs as a pair against KKR. Also, Manimaran Siddharth to bowl after the break.

A dot to end a stellar spell from Mohammad Shami and he finishes with figures of - 4-0-9-2. Coming to the delivery, this is bowled on a fuller length, around off. NKR prods forward and punches the drive towards cover.
Short of a length, on off, Klaasen stays on the back foot and slaps the pull down to long on for another single.
Fuller in length and outside off, smacked away square through the cover region for just a single.
Length ball, angling into the pads, flicked away straight to the man just in front of the square leg region.
Oh, that's a good change-up from Shami. A slower ball yorker, right on the money on middle stump. Nitish Kumar Reddy does well to take out the front leg and dig it out.
Short ball, outside off, banging it into the deck. Reddy leaps up and tries to uppercut the ball but misses.

Relatively full again, around off, driven through extra cover for a run.
Beaten! Quicker through the air, flatter and a touch fuller as well. Reddy gets caught on the back foot and has a poke at it but the ball zips past the outside edge.
Short and wide outside off, cut away in front of point for a single.
Short again, and outside off again. NKR gets off the mark with a single to deep point as he plays the cut shot.
Shorter and outside off, turning away, Nitish Kumar Reddy can't get it past the man at cover to his right.
Number four goes for SRH now and they are in huge trouble. Nitish Kumar Reddy is the next man in.
OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Wow, what about that! A sensational piece of athleticism from Rishabh Pant and SRH keep bleeding wickets. Digvesh Singh slows it up and floats it wide outside off. Liam Livingstone lunges across to the off side and goes for the scoop but gets it right off the face of the blade. Pant initially anticipates the shot well and hops to the leg side but when the ball lobs up on the off side, Pant adjusts brilliantly and dives across to pouch it with the right outstretched glove.
Digvesh Singh replaces Manimaran Siddharth.

Another slower short ball from Khan, over off stump, Liam Livingstone is nearly too early on it but adjusts and plays a controlled pull through mid-wicket for one more.
Back of a length, around the fifth stump line, Liam leans back and glides the ball off the blade towards cover-point.
A slower short ball, pushed wide outside off, Klaasen gets on his toes and taps it down towards cover for a single.
Fuller than a good length, outside off, Livingstone takes a few steps forward and taps the ball on its head, guiding it down to deep third for a run.
Banged in short over middle, chest height. Klaasen swivels and pulls it through square leg for a single.
Avesh hits a good length and gets the ball to nip back in sharply. Klaasen hangs back and pushes it out into the off side.
Avesh Khan has been introduced into the attack now.

Fired in, fuller as well, Liam eases it to the right of the bowler, who makes a diving stop. End of a meek Powerplay with the bat for SRH, who are 22/3 after 6 overs.
SIX! Out of nowhere! A hint of flight on this one, straighter in line, Liam Livingstone seems to have had enough as he dances down the track and clobbers it over long on for the first biggie of the game.
Nagging length, targeting off and middle, Liam Livingstone gets a touch forward and blocks it off.
Good length, on off, pushed wide of the bowler and to the right of mid off for a single.
Quick again, on a length and on middle and leg, Klaasen stays leg side of the ball and punches it out to mid off.
On a fullish length, on middle, sliding along. Heinrich Klaasen rocks back to defend.
Interesting change in the bowling as the left-arm spinner Manimaran Siddharth comes in to replace Prince Yadav.

Takes pace off again, fuller and outside off. Liam Livingstone reaches out for it. He ends up slicing it in the air but well wide of mid off and picks up another brace.
Short of a length and around off, skids through. Liam Livingstone gets late on the pull shot and misses. It hits his thigh pad and rolls towards short third.
Uppish but safe! Fuller and on middle, holds its line. Liam Livingstone looks to flick it away but gets a leading edge. It flies just over point and the batters get a couple of runs.
So close! Mohammad Shami bowls another superb slower one, on a length and on off, grips and turns in a bit. Liam Livingstone fails to pick it and plays all over it. He misses and the ball just goes past the off pole.
Good-length delivery, on middle, angling in, Liam Livingstone tucks it on the bounce to mid-wicket.
Third over on the trot for Shami? Why not, says Rishabh Pant.

On a length and on off, Heinrich Klaasen pats it down to short cover. 2 wickets and 3 runs in the last two overs.
Lands this on a good length and on off, shapes away, Heinrich Klaasen lets it go again.
Hard length and just around off, Heinrich Klaasen leaves it alone.
Well, the Super Giants have rocked the Sunrisers and the home fans as well early on and SRH's fiery 3 southpaws have perished, just like that. Out walks Heinrich Klaasen at number 5, under immense pressure.
OUT! BOWLED'EM! Absolute beauty from Prince Yadav. No better sight for a fast bowler, and SRH's dangerous top three are all gone. Yadav bowls this full and on off, at 134.9 kph, gets it to shape in a touch, late. Ishan Kishan stays in his crease and looks to drive it away but gets beaten by the pace and movement, as the ball crashes into the off pole, uprooting it. SRH are 11/3 now.
Good length and on middle, angling in, Liam Livingstone pats it towards mid on and calls for the single. He has to hurry towards the end, with the fielder having a shy at the bowler's end but missing.
Back of a length and around off, Liam Livingstone opens the face of his bat and punches it but straight to cover-point.
Will spin continue from the other end? Nope. Prince Yadav, the pacer, replaces Digvesh Singh.

Hard-length delivery, on off, Liam Livingstone runs it down to deep third for one. Just 2 runs and a wicket from the over!
On a length and around off, Liam Livingstone pushes it towards short cover. The fielder makes a half-stop and parries it to mid off, but no harm done.
Hits the length hard, on off, nips back in, Liam Livingstone keeps it out to the off side.
Back of a length and just outside off, holds its line, Liam Livingstone offers no shot at it.
WIDE! Just errs in line and bowls this full but down the leg side, Liam Livingstone fails to glance it away. Wided.
No hat-trick for Shami! Short of a length and just around off, shaping away, Liam Livingstone leaves it alone.
Shami is on a hat-trick and he is turning out to be a thorn for his former team. Liam Livingstone walks in to face the hat-trick delivery.
OUT! CAUGHT! This is just excellent bowling from Mohammad Shami. He gets rid of 'Travishek' on his own here. He starts this over with a deceptive off-cutter, on a length and just around off. Travis Head is not expecting that. He charges down the track, extends his arms and looks to loft it away. However, he realises that it is the slower one and tries to pull out of the shot, but it is too late. He ends up chipping it in front of mid off, where Aiden Markram dives forward and takes a sharp low catch.

Dragged back, on middle, Travis Head stays back and forces it down to long off for one. This has been an excellent start from LSG.
Flights it up, full and around off, angling away, Ishan Kishan drills it to long off for a run.
Flatter and shorter, outside off, Ishan Kishan cuts it away hard but finds cover-point.
Keeps the length on the shorter side, on middle, Ishan Kishan blocks it down the pitch.
Goes short again, on middle, Travis Head punches it down to long on for a single.
FOUR! Put away! This is floated, short and down the leg side. Travis Head has all the time in the world to move back and pull it away to the deep backward square leg fence for a boundary.
What a first over from Shami and LSG are up and running in the wickets column. The SRH skipper, Ishan Kishan walks out to bat at number 3. Also, it will be the leg-spinner, Digvesh Singh, to share the new ball with Shami.

OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Mohammad Shami strikes in the first over, two games in a row now. This is excellent captaincy as well from Rishabh Pant. He takes out first slip before this ball, but keeps short third, much straighter. Shami serves this fuller and just outside off, rolls his fingers to take pace off. Abhishek Sharma's eyes light up and he goes for the expansive drive. Only manages a thick outside edge wide of the short third fielder, where Manimaran Siddharth dives full-length to his right and takes a fantastic catch. A two-baller for Abhishek, and SRH are 1/1.
Pitched up and on middle and leg, shaping into the left-hander again. Abhishek Sharma gets his bat in line with the ball and bunts it to mid on.
Travis Head and SRH are underway! Good length and just around off, Head taps it out in front of short cover for a single.
Goes much fuller and on middle, swings in again sharply. Travis Head clears his front leg to clip it across but gets it from the toe-end towards square leg.
On a length and around leg, Travis Head clips it towards square leg.
Hint of movement! Mohammad Shami starts with a low full toss, shaping into the pads. Travis Head fails to glance it away and the ball goes off his pads behind. Rishabh Pant puts in a dive to his right to stop it. He has a shy at the batter's end but misses, and Head makes his ground.
We are all set for the match to begin! Afternoon game but the Sun is currently hiding behind a few clouds in Hyderabad. The two umpires make their way out to the middle as the players of LSG huddle up and take their places on the field. The duo of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head will open the innings for SRH as usual. Mohammad Shami has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Let's play...
Impact Players for Sunrisers Hyderabad - Eshan Malinga, Salil Arora, David Payne, Shivam Mavi, Zeeshan Ansari.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (Playing XI) - Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan (C/WK), Heinrich Klaasen, Liam Livingstone (In place of David Payne), Aniket Verma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harsh Dubey, Shivang Kumar, Harshal Patel (In place of Salil Arora), Jaydev Unadkat.
Impact Players for Lucknow Super Giants - Ayush Badoni, Matthew Breetzke, Shahbaz Ahamad, Anrich Nortje, Himmat Singh.
Lucknow Super Giants (Playing XI) - Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant (C/WK), Manimaran Siddharth (In place of Ayush Badoni), Nicholas Pooran, Abdul Samad, Mukul Choudhary, Avesh Khan (In place of Mohsin Khan), Mohammad Shami, Digvesh Singh, Prince Yadav.
The skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad - Ishan Kishan says that he is very happy to be home in front of the passionate fans. Informs that they have made two changes, with Liam Livingstone and Harshal Patel coming in the team. Kishan mentions that execution is key in this format. Ends by saying that the two points are really important but they want to keep calm and take it one game at a time.
The captain of Lucknow Super Giants - Rishabh Pant says that the wicket looks good and they are opting to bowl first, citing SRH's batting strength. Mentions that he doesn't know much about the pitch, other than it looks good and whoever plays better cricket will win, and feels that it might slow down a bit as the inning wears on. Pant informs that they have one change, Sid comes in for Anrich Nortje. On asked whether Pant will open the innings, he remains mysterious and says that they'll see.
TOSS - Both the captains are out in the middle for the coin flip. Two friends, Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan turn foes for this encounter. They are laughing and chatting with each other. Kishan gets the coin and gives it a flick, and Pant calls it right. Lucknow Super Giants elect to BOWL first.
A quick chat - LSG's Aiden Markram is up for a chat. He says that franchise cricket is slightly different from international cricket, but you have played enough cricket and know what's expected of you and what you need to do. Adds that it is a high level of competition in this league, but it is exciting to be a part of it as well. Markram mentions that you have to keep an open mind. As an opener, you need to assess the conditions and pass on that information. Ultimately, you look to take the game on and hopes to put on a good show. Aiden shares that it is a bit different batting at number 3 and opening. While opening, you don't know how the pitch will react or how bowlers are going to attack you. At 3, you are 2-3 overs in the game and get some idea. He admits that he loves playing in the top 3 and in this format you want to spend as much time as possible out there. Markram says that you want to get all your bowlers in the game. Tells that it is the job of the top 6-7 players to take the responsibility and give their bowlers a total to defend. Ends by saying that it doesn't not add extra pressure but they just need to be aware of it.
PITCH REPORT - Former Kiwi pacer Danny Morrison is pitchside. He starts by saying that it is a bit overcast to begin with. Adds that traditionally this is a high-scoring ground and the square boundaries are 63 meters and 68 meters on either side, with the straight hit being a fairly big 75 meters. Former Australian skipper, Michael Clarke, joins Danny out in the middle and starts by saying that the surface looks a little bit dry and considering it is a day game, runs on the board could be important as it might spin a bit later on. However, they do reckon that 200-plus is a score that teams will target.
LSG's balance test - Lucknow Super Giants, meanwhile, have the pieces but are still searching for the right combination. Mitchell Marsh provides the thrust at the top, striking 20 sixes in the Powerplay since IPL 2025, setting the tone early when he gets going. The middle order, led by Nicholas Pooran, remains their biggest strength, having the best strike rate in the 7-16 overs last season, while Rishabh Pant's role at the top continues to be one to watch. Their pace attack has shown promise with the ability to strike early, but questions still linger around their spin depth and overall balance, especially in conditions that could demand more control through the middle overs. Toss and team news in a bit.
SRH's power game - Sunrisers Hyderabad continue to bank on their fearless batting approach, led by the dynamic Travis Head-Abhishek Sharma pairing at the top, combining at a record rate of 12.6. Abhishek strikes at 204 at this venue, Head at 181, and Klaasen at 183, making this one of the most dangerous batting units in home conditions. Add to that Ishan Kishan's positive start, and Nitish Kumar Reddy's all-round impact, and SRH's batting looks both explosive and well-rounded, even if their bowling still remains a work in progress.
Hyderabad awaits a thriller - It's another run-fest waiting to unfold in Hyderabad as Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Lucknow Super Giants. Welcome to a venue where totals are rarely safe and momentum shifts in a blink. SRH come in riding the confidence of a strong bounce-back performance, while LSG will be eager to respond after a stuttering start. With both sides still settling into their combinations, this clash is as much about momentum as it is about execution.
... MATCH DAY ...
Bounce back battle - From being blown away in one game to roaring back in the next, Sunrisers Hyderabad's season has already seen two extremes, and that's what makes this clash against Lucknow Super Giants so fascinating. After conceding 202 in just 15.4 overs against RCB in a bruising defeat, SRH responded in style, thumping KKR by 65 runs as their bowlers bounced back emphatically. Now, back at home, they have a chance to build momentum, but standing in their way is an LSG side equally desperate to fix its own flaws after a disappointing outing. SRH's explosive engine - Sunrisers Hyderabad's blueprint is clear -attack, and attack hard. The Travis Head–Abhishek Sharma duo, famously dubbed ‘Travishek’, has been at the heart of it, giving flying starts, including an 82-run burst in no time in the last game. Abhishek, in particular, enjoys this matchup, striking at a staggering 228.6 against LSG. And it's not just them, SRH have crossed the 200-run mark in each of their last five matches, underlining their relentless batting approach. Ishan Kishan has seamlessly carried his form into the tournament with a fine half-century to start the season, while Heinrich Klaasen continues to be the enforcer in the middle, already tallying 83 runs in two games. Add to that Nitish Kumar Reddy's growing all-round influence, highlighted by his 2/17 and a brisk 39* off 24 in the win over KKR and SRH's batting depth looks formidable. With Aniket Verma adding six-hitting muscle and more to come from the likes of Salil Arora, this is a lineup built to overwhelm. SRH's bowling - progress or problem? While the batters have set the tone, SRH's bowling remains a mixed bag. The absence of Pat Cummins is evident, especially in crunch moments, but there have been encouraging signs. Jaydev Unadkat has stepped up as the leader of the attack with 4 wickets already, while Eshan Malinga has filled in admirably. David Payne showed promise early but was taken apart in the last game, highlighting the inconsistency in the unit. Spin remains a developing area, Harsh Dubey leads the charge, while Shivang Kumar impressed on debut despite going wicketless, and Abhishek provides a handy additional option. One area they cannot afford to ignore, though, is fielding. It came under scrutiny in the previous game, and in a tighter contest, those small lapses could prove costly. LSG's puzzle to solve - Lucknow Super Giants, meanwhile, are still searching for the right balance. Their batting faltered in the opener, with only Mitchell Marsh getting among the runs, while experiments like pushing Rishabh Pant to open didn’t quite click, though he was unfortunate to be run out. It remains to be seen whether they persist with that or revert to the Marsh–Markram combination, especially with Aiden Markram in sublime T20 form over the past year, scoring over 1300 runs across leagues. Nicholas Pooran, used in the middle order, remains a key figure, he had a standout season last year at No. 3 and has scored the most runs against SRH in this squad (218), against his former side. Pant, too, enjoys this matchup, with 558 runs against SRH, his best against any team. With Ayush Badoni adding depth and Abdul Samad's power-hitting already on display, the batting has the pieces, it's about putting them together. Bowling holds the key - If there's one area LSG can bank on, it's their pace attack. Despite Anrich Nortje not firing yet, the trio of Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan, and Prince Yadav showcased their quality by reducing DC to 26/4 in the last game. Each brings a different skill set, making them a potent unit and if Nortje finds his rhythm, this attack could become one of the most dangerous in the tournament. However, the lack of a genuine all-rounder hurts their balance, with Marsh not contributing with the ball. Their spin department also looks thin, Digvesh Singh remains untested, Shahbaz Ahmed needs to be more effective, and while Markram can chip in, it's still an area of concern, especially on surfaces that demand control. Team form (Last 5 completed IPL matches, recent first) - SRH - WLWWW | LSG - LLWWL. History and conditions in play - The head-to-head slightly favours LSG at 4-2, but SRH have had the upper hand recently, winning two of the last three, including a stunning chase of 166 in just 9.4 overs without losing a wicket. At Hyderabad, runs are almost guaranteed, with an average first-innings score of 191.5 last season, and while pacers have traditionally picked up more wickets, this being an afternoon game could bring spinners more into play. With SRH's relentless batting and LSG's potent pace attack, this shapes up as a clash of strengths, but in conditions where spin and small moments could make the difference, it might just come down to which side plugs their gaps quicker.
