In the previous outings, Bangladesh struggled to defend their totals, being bowled out for 227 in the last match despite some fighting performances from Tanzid Hasan and Mahmudullah. Next up is the 3rd ODI between West Indies and Bangladesh to be played at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts once again before we finally move to Kingstown in St. Vincent for the T20I series. Game 1 of the ODI series began with a lot of promise and the sides looked very well-matched just like how the Test series ended but the duo of Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford helped the Windies chase down 295 runs and this resulted in a big confidence boost. The hosts were all over Bangladesh in the 2nd game and cruised to a series win. Bangladesh will be looking to bounce back and even though they are without a few big guns, they need to have the self-belief to go on and get things done. After an underwhelming showing from the top order in the first game, West Indies' top three batters found their groove in a sub-par chase with Brandon King really coming into his own. The likes of Evin Lewis and Keacy Carty too got useful runs under their belt but the job was set up brilliantly in the first innings by the bowlers. Riding high on Jayden Seales' four-fer, the hosts kept Bangladesh to under 230 runs which was more than 60 runs less in the first game at the same venue. For Bangladesh, it was a case of no one really taking the mantle on their own and the experience of Mahmudullah along with a very handy knock from Tanzim Hasan Sakib down the order saved them from what could have been a really low total. Still, though, their batting performance was under-par and the bowlers never managed to get in the game, thanks to some counter-attack from the Windies openers from the get-go. Bangladesh really need to pull up their socks and find their lost mojo in this format of the game, where they usually shine the brightest but it will be tough without some very key players and an upbeat Windies side as well. Can Bangladesh avoid the clean sweep? Or will West Indies rally along to a 3-0 victory? We shall find out.
