Well then, Australia need 91 runs with 7 wickets in hand. And considering how the Australian middle order has performed, India would still fancy their chances here. But, they know that the Aussies bat very deep and would need a few more quick wickets to tilt the balance of the game against them. It is an uphill task and with Jasprit Bumrah not on the field, his absence will be dearly felt by the Indians. However, the prodigious bounce and skiddiness add another layer to how Australia will negotiate against it. We are heading towards the climax of this series and this could well be the final session of play with the result at our helm. Though Prasidh Krishna eventually found success by removing Konstas, who perished while attempting an ambitious attacking shot to maintain the momentum, Australia had raced to 39 runs in just four overs. Despite a wicket, the Australian batters kept the scoreboard ticking through a timely rotation of strikes, while India's cause wasn't helped by their generous offering of extras. Just when the game appeared to be slipping entirely in Australia's favor, Krishna provided another breakthrough by dismissing Labuschagne and Smith in a quick interval, and suddenly the Indian bowling attack found their rhythm, tightening their lines and lengths.

With Bumrah not taking the field, India's bowling resources were depleted and their job to defend this total got more trickier than ever. Chasing 162, Australia's openers Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja capitalized on a pretty wayward bowling from Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. The Indian pacers' start was far from ideal, serving up loose deliveries that strayed onto the pads, practically gift-wrapping scoring opportunities.

India's overnight lead of 145 quickly evaporated on this pivotal Moving Day, as Pat Cummins and Scott Boland produced a masterclass in bowling. The Australian duo was simply unplayable, making short work of India's remaining four wickets in just the first 45 minutes of play in just 7.5 overs. This swift demolition meant India could only stretch their lead to a modest 161, adding just 16 runs to their score from the second day.

After Pant's dismissal, they seemed to retreat into a shell, which doesn’t appear to be the right approach on a wicket where any ball could have your name written on it. As for Australia, their pacers will be raring to go after a good night's sleep, eager to skittle India out for under 175. With only the tail to follow, it's a target they will certainly feel is within reach. The uncertainty surrounding Jasprit Bumrah’s further participation in the Test adds another layer to the contest. Mentions that he has the full backing of the team to play his game. Adds that the wicket has plenty on offer for the quicks. He further talks about how happy they were to see the back of Rishabh Pant. Mentions that he is super excited to try and get the job done with the bat whenever he gets the chance in the second innings.

In India's second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal set the tone early, punishing any loose deliveries. Scott Boland, brought on as the first change, quickly dismissed three of India's top four. With India reduced to 79/4, Rishabh Pant counter-attacked, smashing a rapid 29-ball fifty. Pat Cummins eventually broke the partnership by dismissing Pant. The hosts then tightened the screws, resulting in the wicket of Nitish Kumar Reddy. It would have been an ideal end to the day for Australia, but Steven Smith dropped a catch of Ravindra Jadeja that he had no business going for.

After the break, Alex Carey came out with positive intent, complementing Beau Webster's approach at the other end. Jasprit Bumrah gave India an early breakthrough before Mohammed Siraj struck twice in quick succession, leaving Australia reeling at 39/4. Steven Smith faced a stern examination early in his innings but managed to shift the momentum with a six and a boundary off Prasidh Krishna. Those two strokes eased the pressure and took some sting out of India's early dominance. At the other end, Beau Webster complemented Smith by batting with positive intent to steady the ship. Just when it seemed like Australia would take the honours of the first session with their fightback in the second half, Prasidh Krishna managed to get Steven Smith to nick one, sending him back to the pavilion and pegging the hosts back.

SESSION SUMMARY - 26 overs, 92 runs and 4 wickets. End of an entertaining session! It was a proper arm-wrestle, with India landing the first punch before Australia counterpunched. However, the tourists came back strong to land the final blow before the session ended, dismissing Steven Smith.
