We are back for the chase! The players are walking out to the middle now. Mitchell Marsh and Aaron Finch are the two openers for Australia. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been given the responsibility to start with the new ball. Here we go...
... THE RUN CHASE ...
Right then, Australia have had issues with their batting, especially during a run chase. They have a good challenge in front and let's see how they reply in this warm-up game. Stay tuned...
Kane Richardson comes up for a quick word. On his wicket of Suryakumar Yadav, Kane smiles and jokes that it is probably the first time he mistimed a ball against them. Adds that he has not played much lately and it's nice to get some game time. Mentions that it's a huge ground and to get the batters hitting towards the longer part was the plan. States that it is nice to play and to get wickets against a top side is a good feeling. Mentions that the Indians started well but they pulled things back and feels that it will be a good chase. Tells that it feels like a Covid game with no crowd but they will play in front of a full house in a few days.
Australia were all over the place in the Powerplay but then got their act together. Kane Richardson was the pick of the bowlers, claiming a four-fer while Mitchell Starc also looked in a nice rhythm. The rest of the bowlers though weren't up to the mark and that allowed India to maintain a good run rate.
A good outing with the bat for India! KL Rahul hit the ground running with his quickfire knock and set the platform upfront. Australia bounced back after the Powerplay with a couple of wickets but then Suryakumar Yadav arrived at the crease and did what he does best. His 33-ball 50 propelled India through the middle phase and provided them with a decent finish at the death.

OUT! CAUGHT! Kane Richardson finishes with four wickets. Fuller in length, on middle and leg, Ravichandran Ashwin steps back to make room and lofts it down the ground. Not much power or timing there and it's an easy catch for Glenn Maxwell at long off. India end on 186 for 7.
SIX! Well played! Short in length around off, Ashwin goes deep inside the crease and whacks it over deep backward point for a biggie.
Two balls remaining in the innings and in walks Ravichandran Ashwin...
OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Soft dismissal and SKY has to go back. Kane Richardson bowls a dipping low full toss, on middle, slower too, Suryakumar Yadav is very early through his flick and hits it with the toe end of his blade. As a result, the ball loops back towards the bowler where Kane Richardson takes a dolly and has an embarrassing smile on his face. End of a top knock from Suryakumar Yadav!
FOUR! Fine shot! FIFTY FOR SKY! Another brilliant show from him and this will give him and the team a lot of confidence. Kane Richardson bowls this on a length and on off, Suryakumar Yadav skips down the track and lofts it towards the deep extra cover fence for a boundary.
This is on a length and on middle, Suryakumar Yadav looks for the reverse scoop but fails to get any connection on that.
A high full toss, on off, Axar Patel smashes it towards long off for a single.
Kane Richardson to bowl the final over of the innings.

Fuller one, outside off, angling away, Suryakumar Yadav again misses his flashy drive.
A nasty hit on the helmet and Suryakumar Yadav is going through the concussion test. It seems that the lid of his helmet is broken. All in readiness again, SKY is good to continue...
Wow...a really fiery bouncer from Starc! He bangs this on middle, Suryakumar Yadav looks to play the pull shot but is beaten by the pace and gets hit on his helmet. Maybe, there was some part of gloves involved to take the pace slightly off the ball.
Starc bowls this fuller and on off, angling away, Suryakumar Yadav slashes at it but misses.
A big wide from Starc! He tries to bowl the back-of-the-hand slower one but serves this almost out of the pitch on the off side. Wided.
PItched up from Starc, on middle, Axar Patel tucks it through square leg for one more.
This is a bit fuller and on middle, Suryakumar Yadav makes room and drills it towards sweeper cover for a run.
On a length and around off, Axar Patel guides it with the outer half of his bat towards cover-point for a single.
Mitchell Starc (2-0-16-1) is to steam in now...

SIX! Stand and deliver! Pat Cummins bowls this full and on leg, angling into the batter, Suryakumar Yadav clears his front leg and dispatches it over the long on fence for a biggie.
Fuller and outside off, Suryakumar Yadav moves a long way back and has to reach out for it. Ends up pushing it to extra cover.
FOUR! Put away! A low full toss on middle, Suryakumar Yadav walks across the stumps and neatly deflects it off his pads to fine leg for a boundary.
Shortish and on off, Yadav works it to deep mid-wicket and scampers back for the second run.
Pat Cummins to give his trial for the death overs. Talks have been to prefer Kane Richardson over him in the first XI due to Kane's death-bowling skills. Can Cummins make a case for himself?
Commentary
That's all from this game. England and Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will be playing their warm-up games in a short while. Also, Zimbabwe vs Ireland, in Group B, will be getting underway soon after the game between West Indies and Scotland in which the former is on the brink of a shocking loss. You can switch tabs to follow all the actions. Cheers!
Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper, says that they batted well but could have been more clinical towards the end. Adds that they want a set batter to bat through which Suryakumar Yadav did to an extent. Rohit is happy with the overall batting effort of India. Feels that you need to be smart when you plan your batting on such big grounds. Tells that there is definitely room for improvement with the ball and he wants to see more consistency. Mentions that you need to change your tactics here in Australia and they are working on it. Smiles and says that they wanted to challenge Shami by giving the final over and he did brilliantly.
Aaron Finch, the Aussie skipper, says that you need to be clinical at the back of the innings. Feels that they failed to capitalize on the end overs. Praises his bowlers for pulling things back after KL Rahul's quickfire knock. Finch is happy with his batting form and tells that he would have loved to win but cheekily adds that you can't win the World Cup in a practice game. Lauds the bowling effort of Agar and he is looking forward to playing New Zealand.
Stay tuned for the interviews of the two captains...
Positives for Australia - Bowling of Kane Richardson and batting of Aaron Finch. Positives for India apart from an unlikely win - Form of KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar finding his rhythm and Mohammad Shami looking ready for the challenge.
Australia will be shell-shocked at the moment. This was their game to win but India snatched it right under their nose. Aaron Finch finding some form would have pleased the home team and it's a massive boost to them. That said, he failed to close the game and his departure allowed India to stage a comeback. Not to forget Virat Kohli's brilliant piece of fielding to first run Tim David out and then a one-handed stunner to remove Pat Cummins. Overall, it was a good warm-up game for both teams and to be honest, this result doesn't matter much as only the positives will be counted.
What a win for India! They never looked in the game but it was a special effort from Mohammad Shami in the final over. A big statement is made by the pacer who has been missing in action and there were doubts over his fitness and skills as a T20 bowler. In totality, barring Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin to an extent, the bowling for India was not up to the mark and this is something they will like to address before the main tournament begins.

OUT! RUN OUT! A great piece of fielding from Kohli and Australia lose two in two balls. This is full and on middle, Josh Inglis tucks it to the right of mid-wicket and sets off for a run, Tim David responds too. However, Virat Kohli is quick to pick up and hits the bull's eye at the batter's end. The replay shows that David is well short of his crease and to be fair to him, he did not even wait for the replays. Could this be the turning point of the game?
Josh Inglis comes in to bat.
OUT! TIMBER! Harshal Patel gets the huge wicket of Finch! He bowls his special delivery, a dipping low full toss, on off, slower too, Aaron Finch looks to work it away but is through his shot way too early and misses.

India got the better of the hosts in a recently concluded T20I series on their home soil, but playing in Australia is a different ball game altogether. However, as this is for preparation, both teams will look to divide game-time between their players and try out different combinations. Let's see who comes out on top. Toss and team news in a bit.
Hello and a warm welcome to our coverage of the ICC Twenty20 Warm-up match between the hosts, Australia, and India. This is a good opportunity for both teams to test their tactics and ideas before the main event. Keeping in mind all this, we know the rivalry between the two nations and we can expect a good game of cricket.

OUT! TIMBER! Take a bow, Mohammad Shami! He bowls another perfect yorker, on off, Kane Richardson swings all over it and the ball goes through to rattle the stumps. Incredible stuff from Shami. India win by 6 runs.
Kane Richardson to face the final ball. 7 needed more. Can he hit a biggie?
OUT! BOWLED 'EM! A pinpoint yorker from Mohammad Shami. Josh Inglis moves across the stumps to play his cheeky paddle shot but misses. The ball goes through and demolishes the stumps. Australia have shot themselves on the foot here.
Who's in next? It's Mitchell Starc.
OUT! Agar is run out! Short in length and outside off, Agar swings his bat at it but fails to connect. They attempt to steal a bye but Dinesh Karthik throws it to the bowler who knocks down the stumps with a direct hit at the non-striker's end. Agar is not even in the frame.
Ashton Agar is in next. 7 needed off 3 balls.
OUT! TAKEN! Oh my goodness! What a catch from Kohli! This is full and on middle, Pat Cummins clears his front leg and lofts it towards the long on fence. It looks like going over but Virat Kohli there times his jump perfectly and takes a one-handed blinder. The Australian dug-out behind him is in disbelief.
A good yorker, on middle, Pat Cummins digs it out to the vacant mid-wicket region for a a couple of runs.
Good work in the deep! Mohammad Shami tries to go for the yorker but serves a low full toss, on middle, Pat Cummins tucks it wide of deep mid-wicket where the fielder does well to cut it out. Two runs taken.

Full toss around middle and leg, drifting down, Cummins tries to flick but misses. He is hit on the pads, they appeal but nothing from the umpire. The ball deflects to covers and they cross for a leg bye.
Very full and on middle, Pat digs it out towards square leg and collects two runs.
Fuller and around leg, Josh Inglis attempts for a reverse-batted shot but miscues it badly. It comes off from the bottom edge and loops towards square leg. They cross.
A low full toss around leg, it's eased behind square leg for a single.
Pat Cummins is the new batter.
OUT!
The ball goes through and shatters the stumps. A good knock from the Aussie skipper but is there a twist in the tale?
Harshal Patel is back into the attack to showcase his death-bowling skills.
