OUT! CAUGHT! In an attempt to round up proceedings quickly, Saim Ayub has missed out on what would have been a maiden ODI ton. Adam Zampa goes full and floats it wide of the off stump, getting the ball out of the hitting arc. Ayub comes down the pitch and looks to go downtown but ends up slicing it flat and to the man at backward point on the off side. Josh Hazlewood takes a safe catch just around his head and Ayub departs for a fiery 82 off just 71 balls.

Drinks break! Well then, any chance of this being a close encounter has been blown away by this opening stand and Saim Ayub has really played a superb knock. Both batters have negotiated the pacers well and haven't let the bad deliveries go to waste. Ayub is playing a lot freely now and going after everything but Pakistan are in such a position that he can afford to do that. Australia need a whole heap of wickets and they need them at the earliest but this one does look a bridge too far.

Pat Cummins bowls it on a hard length and outside off, Saim Ayub gives the charge and ends up slicing it up and away wide of deep third. Zampa covers the ground and has the ball in his grasp for a moment but ends up grassing it. A couple of runs taken and Ayub gets a slice of luck.

Off the mark right away! Starc starts with a full ball, angling it into the legs, Saim Ayub flicks it firmly and just to the right of Aaron Hardie at square leg. The ball pings off his knee on the dive and goes through as the batters get a couple of runs.

OUT! DRAGGED ON! That's it, its all over and Shaheen Afridi ends with three wickets. Continues from around the stumps to the right-hander and bowls it a touch full outside the off stump line. Adam Zampa goes deep in the crease and backs away before looking to smash it away on the off side. Zampa has to reach for it and gets a big inside edge and the ball crashes into the stumps. Zampa departs after a handy knock of 18 off 21 and Australia are bundled out for just 163 runs.

SIX! Oh, that is some shot from Adam Zampa! Naseem goes full and looks to angle it into the pads, Zampa though just picks it up and flicks it aerially. The ball sails just over the ropes for a biggie.

WIDE! A review burned and that was taken more in hope as Australia are already 9 down. Naseem Shah continues to pepper Adam Zampa with the short stuff and digs it in over the middle stump line. Zampa looks to hook but is beaten by pace and bounce. Half a shout for caught behind and Zampa urges Rizwan to take the review. However, there is nothing on UltraEdge there.

FOUR! A teaser that for Shaheen Afridi in the deep but Adam Zampa has played it well enough. Another short ball, banged in over middle, Zampa gets in position and flat-bats the pull wide of deep backward square leg. Shaheen covers some good ground and even gets a fingertip on it but the ball goes to the fence and the 150 is up for Australia.

DROPPED! Mohammad Rizwan fails to make it a seventh catch and he never looked to be in control there. Naseem Shah digs it in short and outside off, Adam Zampa goes after it and gets a top edge that goes high up and wide of short third. The keeper runs towards it and ends up spilling it. Hits the deck hard bowling it around the top of off, Hazlewood hangs back and watchfully blocks it to the off side.

A bumper now, dug in short over middle, Josh Hazlewood ducks under this one well.

Zeroing in on the base of the off stump there Shaheen Afridi, Hazlewood backs away quite a fair bit and digs it out back to the bowler.

Pitches this one up on off, angling it in, Hazlewood presses back to defend.

Slower one, on a shortish length and on leg, Zampa nudges it away in front of square leg and picks up a single.

Length this time around off, angling in towards the stumps, Hazlewood manages to jam his bat down in time.

OUT! EDGED AND GONE! There was a big noise but interestingly, Pat Cummins has reviewed it right away, seems like a hopeful one at best. Haris Rauf digs this one in short and outside off, Cummins looks to fetch and pull but seems to have a got a top edge straight through to the keeper. UltraEdge confirms the same and Mohammad Rizwan picks up his sixth catch. Also, it is a stellar five-wicket haul for Haris Rauf.

Pitched up around off, pushed away wide of the cover fielder for a quick single.

Nice and full again, Zampa drives it away straight to covers.

Swing and a miss! Pitched up outside off, Adam Zampa looks to smash this one through covers but is well beaten.

Fuller in length and angling down leg, Pat Cummins misses the flick and the ball goes off the pads. A good diving take from Rizwan behind the stumps.

A really close call that and one that seemed like a boundary but it will be just a couple of runs. Back of a length and over middle, Pat Cummins makes room again looking to heave across but miscues it up and over mid on. Mohammad Hasnain gives a long chase and puts in the dive to push the ball back in. The ball just stops a few inches off the ropes and it will be two runs.

SIX! Crunching shot from Pat Cummins! Hard length over middle, Cummins sets himself up nicely and makes room before bringing out a lovely golf swing and nails it over long on for a biggie.

Valiant effort from Shaheen Afridi and he has saved a run for his side. Just back of a length and around off, Pat Cummins backs away and slaps it straight back down the ground. Afridi gives it a chase from inside the ring and dives in to keep the ball in play. The batters pick up three runs.

A big swing and a miss from Adam Zampa and he almost gets cleaned up. On a good length around middle, darting back in, Zampa backs away and heaves across the line but the ball smashes into the back pad and rolls towards backward point. They get a leg bye as the appeal for LBW is turned down.

Drinks break! Well then, the game looked much more evenly poised 15 overs earlier than now and Pakistan have gained complete control of this first innings. Haris Rauf has been sensational in this middle phase and has run through the Aussie middle order. Pat Cummins once again has to do the repair job for his side but from here, it will be a miracle if he manages to take his side to anywhere near the 200-run mark.

Shah serves this one full and on off, naturally angling it across the left-hander. Mitchell Starc just leans on to drive and gets an outside edge that goes down to the left of the keeper. Rizwan dives and pouches it safely, no footwork there from Starc.

Rauf steams in from around the wicket to the left-hander and hones in on the stumps with a tad fuller delivery, Mitchell Starc watchfully punches it away to mid-wicket.

OUT! PLAYED ON! Haris Rauf has four and Australia in deep trouble now. Rauf just rolls his fingers over the ball this time and dugs it in short outside off. Glenn Maxwell hangs back and looks to pull even with three fielders out on the leg side but has to fetch this one and gets an inside edge, dragging it back onto the stumps. Poor choice of shot from Maxwell and he walks back as well. Australia 7 for 129 now.

WIDE! Banged in short and down the leg side, Maxwell misses the pull and a wide is signalled.

Rauf pitches the ball up on the stumps, angling it in, Glenn Maxwell looks to drive but gets it off the inner half of the bat and wide of deep mid-wicket for a couple of runs.

Naseem bangs this one into the deck, bowling it over middle and angling it in, Cummins stays leg side of the ball and pats it back onto the deck.

OUT! CAUGHT! Straight to the man and Matthew Short will be kicking himself. Short and wide from Shaheen Afridi, there to be put away but Short's feet don't move and he just throws his hands at it. The ball gets sliced flat and to the right of Babar Azam at cover-point but he does well to snare a sharp chance with both hands. Short throws away a fine start and Shaheen Afridi picks up his second wicket.

FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries to finish the over! Overcompensating with the half-volley outside off, Steven Smith with a lovely cover drive, nailing it through covers for a boundary.

FOUR! Uppish but hit hard and in the gap! A tad too short and wide, Steven Smith eyes light up and he just slaps this one away in front of point for a glorious boundary.

WIDE! That should have been put away! Slower one, a tad short as well and angling down leg, Steven Smith looks to pull with fine leg inside the circle but fails to connect.

DROPPED AND FOUR! Oh, deary me! What have you done, Shaheen Afridi? Naseem Shah brings out the bumper now and bowls it over middle, Matthew Short crunches the pull shot but gets it flat and just to the right of deep square leg. Shaheen moves to his right and seems a bit off-balanced as the ball bursts through his hand and trickles into the fence.

Jake has a word with Short about whether that pitched outside leg but starts walking back after a bright start, such a shame.

Jake got that high on the bat but gets off the mark nonetheless. Afridi digs this one in short and right at the body, Jake Fraser-McGurk miscues the pull uppishly and wide of the man at square leg for a single.

Right then, the stage is set for yet another fascinating encounter but will it be another low-scoring affair? Pakistan almost managed a staggering comeback in the first ODI and the pacers really rose to the occasion but they just didn't have enough runs on the board and that batting line-up really needs to fire if they are to level the series here in Adelaide.

The Aussies managed to kick off the home season with a narrow win in the first game after seemingly cruising along in the first half of the chase. Skipper, Pat Cummins had to pull off a gutsy inning to see his side through and he will be hoping for a much more clinical showing with the bat this time around.

After edging Pakistan in a thrilling low-scoring contest, Australia targets a series-clinching win in the second ODI. Pakistan, determined to stay alive in the series, seeks an upset victory over the World Champions at Adelaide Oval. Both sides would be looking to put up a better batting display as runs were hard to come by in the series opener, with neither Australia nor Pakistan producing a single half-centurion in the first ODI. Australia, buoyed by the match-winning performance from skipper Pat Cummins, will look to consolidate their lead. Despite restricting the opposition to a low score, Australia's batting unit struggled to seal the deal, relying on the clutch inning from skipper Pat Cummins. Matthew Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk will look to rectify this with a solid start, aided by the top-notch firepower of Steven Smith, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne and Glenn Maxwell down the order. Australia may also consider introducing youngster Cooper Connolly, whose all-round abilities and left-arm spin could complement Zampa's leg-spin against Pakistan's predominantly right-handed batting lineup. In the series opener, Pakistan showed heart but failed to defend a subpar total against the World Champions.
