Commentary
We are back for the run chase! The umpires are back out in the middle and so are the players of Australia. It will be the duo of Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan to open the innings for Bangladesh. Aaron Hardie will get things underway with the ball. Let's go...
... The Run Chase ...
Bangladesh need a big Powerplay - Having asked to bowl first, Bangladesh did well to pick up early wickets and Nasum Ahmed was prolific for them in the Powerplay. However, the pacers in the middle overs bowled too many loose deliveries and went for plenty of runs, especially Abdul Saqlain, who conceded more than 50 runs. They pulled things back around the 15th over mark, but gave away crucial momentum right at the end. Righto, Bangladesh need 197 runs to win, and for that they will have to beat the highest ever T20I chase at this venue as well. It should be a fascinating second innings, so stay tuned.
Let's now hear from Australia's power-hitter - Tim David says that he enjoyed his time in the middle though Matt did all the hard work. He adds that the ball keeps a bit low and he says that it is hard to say if this is a different pitch than that of Mirpur, as he didn't play any games there. Ends by saying that this is an important game and they will try and win this series.
Middle overs mastery - Australia didn't quite start off positively with the bat and were 44/3 at the end of the Powerplay. This is when Tim David and Matt Renshaw got together and they added 97 runs in the next 50 deliveries, with David being the aggressor. Renshaw showed composure at one end as the Aussies lost their way a bit after David's wicket. Renshaw then chanced his arm at the death and mustered up plenty of boundaries to end on an unbeaten 89, almost taking his side to over 200 runs as well.
Big runs on the board - Australia pile on 196 runs on the board, a complete contrast to what Bangladesh did in the previous game, on this very ground. Matt Renshaw has been the standout with the bat and he's managed to hand the Aussies the momentum heading into the interval.

A superb finish by the tourists. Australia post 196/5 on the board! Slower bouncer on the stumps. Joel Davies stands tall and drags it across to the deep mid-wicket region. They look for the second, but will have to settle for a single only. 18 runs off the last over. Could be a big difference maker.
SIX! Dumped beyond the ropes! This is turning out to be a massive final over for the Aussies. A full toss with a hint of a reverse on the stumps. Joel Davies picks up and whips it over the deep backward square leg fence for a six. The umpires check whether the ball bounced before the ropes, but the replay shows that it has cleared sailed over. 17 runs already, with a ball to go.
At 121.9 kph, this is bashed on a length, around off. Matt Renshaw gets the ball higher than he expects due to the bounce and cloths it to long off for a single.
Attempted yorker, on off. Matt Renshaw carves it down the ground and they hustle back for the second run as the throw from Sarkar lacks power to reach to the keeper.
Good running! A bit too full, tailing into the stumps. Renshaw scuffs it down towards wide mid on for a couple of runs.
SIX! BLUDGEONED! This is the off cutter by The Fizz, on a good length. Matt Renshaw clears the front leg and plunders it over long on for a cracking six.

DROPPED! Nasum is the guilty party. Wide full toss, and it keeps curving away from the left-hander. Matt Renshaw slashes hard at it to pick the bones out of it. Only manages a thick outside edge and slices it to the left of short third. Nasum Ahmed is a bit late to dive and puts it down. The ball rolls behind him and he takes his sweet time to get up and chase it. Only a single though. Nahid Rana lets out a huge grunt in frustration and lets the fielder be known about it.
FOUR! Innovative and mighty effective! Pitched short and outside leg. Matt Renshaw moves across the stumps and this time, he spots the slower one at the time of release and has enough time to scoop it over short fine leg for a boundary.
A few droplets of rain have now started to fall. Hopefully, it doesn't get heavier, for now the play will continue.
Cannons it full and outside off. Matt Renshaw tries to bludgeon it down the ground, but is late on the shot due to the pace and hits it off the inside half, bacl to the bowler.
Length ball, outside off, worked off the back foot to long on for a single.
Wide full toss, outside off. Renshaw slaps it to the right of the cover fielder for a single.
Trying to be adventurous! But doesn't work for Renshaw. Nahid sees Matt shuffling outside off to play the scoop shot, and spears one outside off to cramp the batter. Renshaw goes through the shot without connecting the ball.
Nahid Rana comes back in to bgowl the 19th over of the innings.

Slower one, into the pitch, Matt Renshaw waits for it to arrive and pulls it in front of square on the leg side for a single. Fantastic stuff by The Fizz. Goes for just 8 runs in his third over. 3-0-16-1 so far for him.
Nip-backer on middle, on a good length. Joel Davies stands tall and pulls it to deep mid-wicket for another run.
Short of a good length, outside off. Matt drags it to deep mid-wicket for a single.
WIDE! Oh, that's a wild delivery by Rahman! He tries to take pace off by rolling his fingers, but completely loses his radar and sprays it miles outside off, breaching the tramline. It goes underground and Matt leaves. The umpire wants to check whether the ball landed beyond the pitch, but that's not the case so it will be a wide only.
At pace now, 128.8 kph. Back of a length, around off. Joel arches back and cuts it hard to the backward point fielder, and steals a single. Good effort by Nasum, though, who dives to stop the ball to his left.
A dipping full toss, with pace taken off. Joel Davies is early to whip that away, and gets an inside edge as the ball rolls into the mid-wicket and square leg gap for a couple of runs.
Off cutter, stays low, on a length, around off. Renshaw tucks it through wide mid-wicket for an easy single.

Spotting Joel moving across the stumps to play the scoop shot, Abdul smartly fires it outside off, following the batter. Davies is cramped up for room and misses to lay his bat on the ball. 9 runs off the over. An expensive outing for Abdul as he finishes with bowling figures reading 4-0-53-1.
Low full toss, on off, Renshaw drills it down to long on for a single.
Back of a length, angled into the batter. Matt heaves it off the inner half of the bat, through square leg and short fine leg. The square leg fielder dives and makes a half-stop and the ball is mopped up by the latter fielder. The batters hustle back for a couple of runs.
Commentary
Goodbye for now! That wraps up our coverage for today, folks! Australia have the series locked away, but you can bet they’ll be hunting for a ruthless 3-0 clean sweep. Bangladesh, meanwhile, will be desperate to salvage some pride and finish on a high. Don't miss a single second of the third and final T20I, coming your way this Sunday, 21st June at 8 am GMT. Until next time, it’s a wrap from the commentary box. Goodbye and cheers!
The skipper of Australia - Mitchell Marsh says it's been a great series win and to wrap it up in two games is a pleasing sign. Looking back at 2021, he recalls it ended 4-1 to Bangladesh and that Australia's only win that time came with a bit of luck, so this feels a lot better to win this one strongly. On the pitch, Marsh says the wicket was a lot better than the previous game, and he is particularly happy for Renshaw. He singles out his outstanding partnership with Tim David as fantastic, saying the two got Australia out of a tricky spot and then shifted through the gears to get the side to a competitive total. On Hardie, Marsh says he was good and that it is always nice when those calls come off. He then goes on to praise all the bowlers for working through their sequences and staying calm under pressure, especially at the back end. He says Nathan Ellis' last two overs were game-changing and that Australia are lucky to have someone of his experience in the group. Marsh says he is rapt for the team, and it is nice to get a series win in Bangladesh. On finishing the series on a high, he acknowledges it has been a reasonably tough tour for the white-ball group, with a fairly inexperienced side facing different challenges in these conditions. He says the team is really keen to close it out with a win before everyone heads home.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Matt Renshaw receives the award for his fabulous knock of 89 runs in 52 balls. He picked up one wicket as well. Matt Renshaw says he was simply trusting his skills and got his reward on the day. He adds that Australia posted a good score but Bangladesh came out and attacked hard. On his partnership with David, he says both of them have their own strengths and they looked to use those to build a solid total together. Reflecting on the first-innings score, Renshaw says the team knew after the first game that Bangladesh would come out swinging, and admits it felt a little nervy. But he felt it was a good total to defend, noting that the longer the chase went on, the harder it became to hit.
The skipper of Bangladesh - Towhid Hridoy says they played really good cricket, but is quick to admit that they need to improve in a couple of areas to end up on the right side. When asked what those areas of improvement are, Towhid stresses that they have to carry the responsibility a lot more. Mentions that it is important for the batters to play a big knock after getting settled on the crease. Stresses that they need to chase such type of totals and is hopeful that they will comeback strongly in the next match.
Time for the post-match Presentations...
So close, yet so far! But you can never count the Aussies out. Australia roared back into the contest in the blink of an eye. Parvez Hossain Emon fell in the 13th over, and Saif Hassan followed him right back to the dugout in the 14th, breaking the backbone of the chase. That is when the tables turned. For Australia, Aaron Hardie picked up two wickets, while Matt Renshaw, Zampa, Ellis, and Davies kept the pressure up with one wicket each. Nathan Ellis, in particular, was just instrumental with his bag of tricks. He varied his pace smartly to outfox the batters in the backend and came out with flying colors. Over number 17, he picked a wicket and gave just 2 runs. He went for a few in the penultimate, but by then, the game had drifted out of reach. Towhid Hridoy kept the local fans dreaming with a valiant 35, dragging the thriller right down to the final over. They fell agonisingly short by a mere 7 runs in a grandstand finish.
The Tigers made a good start to the chase - Chasing a daunting 197, Bangladesh didn't back down and came out firing on all cylinders. Tanzid Hasan set the tone early with a quickfire 30, and Saif Hassan kept the momentum alive with fearless hitting. Even after Soumya Sarkar fell cheaply, Parvez Hossain Emon joined Saif and carried on with the aggressive approach. At the halfway mark, the Tigers were in control, needing another 94 runs off the final 60 balls.
The Matt Renshaw masterclass - Earlier in the game, it was the Matt Renshaw show that set the stadium alight. Opting to bat first, Australia found themselves in a real spot of bother at 44/3 within the Powerplay. But Renshaw played a blistering, career-defining unbeaten knock of 89 off just 52 balls. He found a perfect ally in Tim David, who smashed a rapid 45 to steady the ship with a 97-run stand. Backed by some late lusty blows from Joel Davies, the Aussies posted a mammoth 196/5, leaving Bangladesh's bowlers, outside of a tidy 2/27 from Nasum Ahmed, with plenty of answers to find.
Redemption for the Aussies! A sensational turnaround from the Men in Yellow. After a disappointing defeat in the ODI series, Australia have bounced back to clinch this three-match T20I series 2-0 with a game to spare. It was a magnificent performance from the visitors. Bangladesh would be upset with this loss as they had the upper hand in this game till the halfway stage of the chase.

OUT! TAKEN EASILY! That's that. Joy for Australia. Heartbreak for Bangladesh as they could see the finish line, but could not cross it in the end. Australia win by 7 runs. Hardie bowls a slower one, full and around off. Towhid Hridoy is beaten by the lack of pace and mistimes the lofted shot off the toe end towards long on. Tim David keeps his calm, moves a bit to his right and takes a simple catch. Marsh lets out a roar of relief as Hardie is engulfed by his teammates, absolutely over the moon. Australia win the 3-match T20I series, taking the lead by 2-0.
FOUR! Off the top edge! But that should do it for the Aussies. Back of a length, outside off. Towhid Hridoy swings with all his might to smoke it out of the park, but gets a thick top edge behind, over the keeper's head for a boundary. 8 runs needed from the final ball.
SIX! Hang on! It's not over yet. Cross-seam delivery, outside off, on a fuller length. Towhid Hridoy gets the ball in his slot and slices it powerfully over deep extra cover for a six. 12 needed from 2 balls.
WIDE! A bit of nerves there. He tries to keep it away from the hitting arc, but errs it miles outside off, breaching the tramline. Hridoy swings but misses. Wide given.
Wide yorker, outside off. Towhid Hridoy carves it through cover. Nikhil Chaudhary is swift to his right from deep point to cut it off and keep the batter down to a couple of runs only. 19 needed off 3 balls. Bangladesh are running out of deliveries.
Beaten by pace! Hard length, far outside off, with a decent lift off the track. Towhid Hridoy reaches out to cut it away, but gets off-balanced and is beaten by the pace and bouce. The ball goes over his angled bat.
A lot fuller, outside off. Abdul Saqlain reaches out, gets his bat under the ball and chips it on the bounce to long off. Abdul is ready for the second, but Hridoy decides to keep the strike.
WIDE! Completely off the radar. Hardie goes wayward and spills it beyond the tramline. Abdul lets it pass. 22 needed now from 6 balls.
That six just gave the crowd a glimmer of hope. Bangladesh now need 23 from the final over. Can they pull off something special? Aaron Hardie to bowl the final over.

SIX! He does and that's a monster of a hit! On a back of a length, just outside off at 125.6 kph. Towhid Hridoy picks the length in a trice and nails the pull shot behind deep square leg for a six.
Slightly back of a length, outside off. Abdul Saqlain drags it off the inner half to long on for just a single. 29 runs needed from 7 balls. Something has to give in the last ball. Can Hridoy go big in the final delivery of this penultimate over?
Good response! Off cutter, dug well short, outside off. Abdul Saqlain is months early into the pull shot and gets beaten all ends up by the lack of pace.
FOUR! Up and over and it beats the fielder! Important runs for the hosts. Ellis goes for the yorker, but doesn't quite land it where he wants. It is in the slot, on off. Abdul Saqlain brings his bottom hand to play and blasts it over mid off for a boundary. They need 30 runs from 9 balls.
And again! Wide outside off, on a fractionally fuller length. Abdul Saqlain stays put and swings aimlessly, only to get beaten on the outside edge. This is top-drawer bowling by Ellis.
Swing and a miss! Ellis hones it in the channel, on a fuller length. Abdul Saqlain swooshes hard at it, looking to smash it down the ground, but misses.
34 runs needed now from the final 2 overs now. Nathan Ellis continues.

Much fuller, outside off. Abdul Saqlain drags it across from the inner portion of the bat to long on for a single only. The Aussies won't mind these singles at this stage. 34 needed off the last 2 overs now.
FOUR! Fine shot! A much-needed one for the hosts. Overpitched by Zampa with a generous flight on offer, on off. Abdul Saqlain gets under it nicely and carves it powerfully, to the left of Zamp and the ball beats the long off fielder to his right before trickling into the fence. 35 needed form 13 balls.
Pitched fuller and around off. Towhid Hridoy scuffs the slog sweep off the inside half of the bat to long on for a single. He looks for the second, but aborts to challenge David's arm.
Slows it up, full in length, just around off and it holds its line. Abdul Saqlain swings hard to go downtown, but inside edges it through his legs to short fine leg. Just a single.
Dishes out a googly, full on leg. Towhid Hridoy sits across and sweeps it to deep backward square leg for a single. Bowling smartly to his field, is Zampa. 41 needed from 16 now.
Slight halt! Towhid Hridoy gets a blow on his helmet and the physio is out in the middle to have a check. All fine now and we are good to go...
Flatter and fuller, following the batter on the leg stump line. Towhid Hridoy shuffles outside leg, sits down to sweep, but top edges it straight onto his helmet grill before the ball rolls to square leg. They look for a single, but there is none on offer. Hridoy will go through a mandatory concussion check.

At pace, full and around off. Towhid Hridoy stabs the ball to the right of the bowler. Ellis moves to his right to stop it, but the ball evades him for a single. What a fantastic over. Just 2 runs and a wicket from it. Bangladesh need 42 runs from 18 balls.
Stump-to-stump line, a touch fuller in length. Abdul Saqlain forces it down to long on for a single.
In and around off, on a length. Punched off the back foot to cover.
Shamim Hossain bites the dust. Abdul Saqlain walks in to bat now.
OUT! TAKEN! Hardie makes a tough catch look easy and Ellis gets the reward for unleashing his bag of tricks. He bowls a length-delivery, on the leg stump line. Shamim Hossain crouches a bit to play the pull shot, but does not get enough room to free his arms and complete the follow-through. Mistimes it as the bat twists at the point of contact, and airs it to the right of deep square leg. Aaron Hardie covers a good ground to his right and takes a fine running catch. Bangladesh are 153/5, still needing 44 runs from 21 balls.
Another off-pace delivery, short and outside off. Shamim Hossain hangs back and stabs it to the backward point fielder. Smart bowling, this from Ellis. 44 needed off 22 balls.
The back-of-the-hand slower one, full on middle. Shamim Hossain bunts it down the pitch.

A shocking review from Australia. Completely out of desperation. Zampa goes full and it is the conventional leg break in front of the stumps. Towhid Hridoy plants the front leg to the pitch of the ball and looks to flick but seems to have gotten an inside edge onto the pads. A slight appeal for LBW, but the finger stays down. Marsh and Inglis both converge to have a chat with the bowler and the skipper opts for a review. An UltraEdge confirms a big deflection. Australia burn a review. But another fine over from an Aussie pov.
FOUR! PUNISHED! Some venom in that shot from Hridoy. A lot fuller and around off. Towhid Hridoy shuffles to the leg side and smashes it up and over the cover fielder, beating long off to his left for a cracking boundary. 44 needed from 25 balls. 150 up for Bangladesh!
A slider on middle, Hridoy flicks the full ball to short mid-wicket.
Fired onto the pads, full in length. Shamim goes for a sweep, but gets a top edge to the right of the keeper for a single.
FOUR! Precious boundary! Drops it short on leg, Shamim Hossain plants the back knee into the pitch and pulls it to split the deep fine leg and deep mid-wicket fielders for a boundary.
A touch short, on middle. Towhid Hridoy short-arm pulls it to deep backward square leg for a single.
Another quiet over in the game's context. Last 5 overs left, Bangladesh need 54 from those. Australia, at the same stage, were 147/4. Bangladesh are 143/4. Nothing really separates both sides at the moment. Australia's trump card, Adam Zampa (2-0-21-1) is back on.

Fired in, on leg, Towhid Hridoy tucks it to mid-wicket for a single.
Beaten! Full and outside off, Towhid Hridoy looks to cut it but misses.
Too full, on off, Towhid Hridoy blocks it back to the bowler.
FOUR! Nikhil Chaudhary is greeted with a boundary on this first ball! Short and wide, Towhid Hridoy picks it well and cuts it in the gap through backward point for a boundary.
The equation - Bangladesh need 61 runs in 36 balls. And all of a sudden the asking rate has shot up over 10s an over. More spin as Nikhil Chaudhary is into the attack now. He replaces Aaron Hardie.

Short, outside off, Towhid Hridoy taps it back to the right of the bowler.
Down the leg side, Shamim Hossain looks to flick it but doesn't connect well. The ball rolls towards fine leg. They collect a single.
Too full, on off, Shamim Hossain taps it back to the bowler.
One brings two. 130/2 becomes 134/4 for Bangladesh. But more importantly, they have lost both their set batters in the span of just four balls. Shamim Hossain is the new batter in for the hosts.
OUT! TAKEN! Not a wicket-taking delivery and Saif has thrown his wicket away. Full and wide outside off, it was also outside the tramline and could have easily been a wide had he left it alone. But Saif Hassan still reaches out to it and looks to slap it over covers. Gets it sliced off the outside edge and the ball lobs in the air towards cover. Mitchell Marsh backtracks and takes a comfortable catch around his chest with a reverse cup. Bangladesh are 134/4 after 13.2 overs.
Fired in, on leg, Saif Hassan flicks it to mid-wicket for a brace. The running between the wickets has been excellent.
Bangladesh need 65 runs in 42 balls. The asking rate has gone above 9 an over, but they are still going over 10 runs per over. Joel Davies (2-0-17-1) replaces Nathan Ellis.

Nice and full, on off, Towhid Hridoy drives it through covers for a brace. Excellent running between the wickets.
Australia roar back into the contest through a superb catch by The Bison. Sometimes a single moment of brilliance in the field is all it takes to swing the momentum, and this could well be that spark for the tourists. Towhid Hridoy is in at number 5. The captain will have to play a responsible knock as the platform has been set nicely by the top order.
OUT! CAUGHT! What a catch from Mitchell Marsh. These catches are always difficult. Shaping away, on a length, outside off. Parvez Hossain Emon makes up his mind and tries to go big down the ground. He tries to hit it too hard and loses his shape and gets a thick outside edge as the ball goes in the air and over covers. Mitchell Marsh runs behind from cover, keeps his eyes on the ball, and takes a magnificent catch while falling on the ground. Bangladesh are 130/3 after 12.5 overs.
Much fuller, outside off, Saif Hassan toe ends it towards mid off for a single.

A stifled appeal for LBW, which is turned down. The impact seemed to be outside off.

Dragged shorter around leg stump, Renshaw whips it away to deep mid-wicket and picks up a single.
Full and flat, on leg stump, Matt reverse-sweeps it straight to point.
FOUR! Oh, that should have been stopped. Tossed up down leg, Matt Renshaw sits down and sweeps it flat towards deep backward square leg. The fielder charges in from the deep and gets taken aback by the bounce, conceding the boundary. The 50-run stand is up between these two.
Good length, outside off, David looks to cut but jams it in front of point for one more.
Dragged length, wide outside off, smacked away towards deep point for a single.
DRINKS BREAK. That's some recovery for the Aussies through the alliance between Renshaw and David. Where Renshaw has been anchoring the innings nicely, holding one end steadily, David has just gone berserk in the last couple of overs. And since the Powerplay, the Aussies have managed to smash 47 runs in the last 4 overs. There's a variable bounce with the odd one staying low, but apart from that, it looks like a decent wicket to bat on. Australia would like to continue in this fashion for a huge score, whereas the hosts are desperate to put breaks through regular wickets. Let's see who wins the second half. Rishad Hossain (2-0-17-0) will continue after the break.

OUT! TAKEN! Saif Hassan takes another stunner, this time, at deep mid-wicket. Hard length and on off, Mitchell Marsh sets off for a big shot but gets deceived by the off-cutter. He tries to heave it over mid-wicket but doesn't get the elevation or power behind the shot. The ball spoons up towards deep mid-wicket. Saif Hassan runs behind over his right shoulder, keeps his eyes locked on the ball, and takes a magnificent catch diving behind. Australia are 44/3 at the end of Powerplay.
On the stumps, on off, Matt Renshaw knocks it to mid on. The fielder dives to his right and stops a possible boundary. Just a single.

Nervy! Slides one onto the pads, on a fractionally fuller length. Mitchell Marsh is hurried by pace. Tries to whip that across to the leg side, but misses and the ball slams his front pad before rolling into the square leg region. Marsh looks for a leg bye, but is sent back in time.
Around middle and leg, fullish, Renshaw flicks it through mid-wicket for a single.
Cranks it up again at 144.2 kph, this is slammed hard and nips away from the batter. Renshaw drags the bat inside the line to leave.
Good length on the pads, at 148.5 kph. Renshaw flicks it to the right of deep fine leg. Nasum Ahmed runs across to his right and fumbles on the pick-up which allows the batters to scamper through for the second.
Bangladesh's bogeyman Cooper Connolly departs early. In walks Matt Renshaw at number 4.
OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Spectacular bowling, excellent catch. Bangladesh roar back strongly. Nahid cannons it on a fuller length and gets the ball to curve away late off the pitch. Cooper Connolly does not move his feet much and throws his bat hard at it, looking to thrash it through the covers, but only manages to get a fat outside edge. The ball is flying like a projectile to the left of the first slip fielder, where Saif Hassan is very alert and takes a sharp diving catch. Australia are 31/2 in 3.2 overs.

Another full ball, around off, Cooper blasts it down the ground, where the mid off fielder lets the ball through on a fumble and allows a single. A successful over for Nasum, though. Just four runs and a wicket from it.
Full and flat, on off, Cooper forces it away to mid off.
Josh Inglis bites the dust. A relief for Bangladesh. Cooper Connolly is the next batter.
OUT! LBW! Nasum has the last laugh and provides the first breakthrough. That's his 50th T20I wicket as well in his 50th appearance for his country in this format. He pushes it through, full in length and it keeps sliding on with the arm towards the leg stump line. Josh Inglis sits across to play the sweep shot, but misses and is hit on the front pad. A very confident appeal for LBW and up goes the fingers. The hosts are joyous, but Inglis has gone for the review straightaway. The ball seems to have missed the gloves en route. And UltraEdge confirms it with a flat line. Ball Tracking shows that the ball is projected to clip the leg stump on umpire's call. Australia retain the review, but Inglis falls. He is absolutely livid and smashes the boundary ropes with his bat before making his way to the dugout. Australia are 30/1 after 2.4 overs.
Drag-downer, flatter on off, Mitchell Marsh backs away and knocks it to deep extra cover for a single.
Overpitched, on middle. Mitchell Marsh carves it to the right of the diving cover fielder. Soumya Sarkar from long off covers a good ground to his left and cuts it off. Two taken.
Slides in from middle, full in length. Marsh gets on the front foot and pushes it back to the bowler.

SIX! Excellently played! Pitched fuller and around the off stump. Inglis plays with the spin, gets on top of the ball, and nails the inside-out shot over the deep extra cover fence for the first six of the match. A highly profitable opening over for the Aussies.
On a fuller length, just outside off. Josh Inglis pushes it to cover.
BEATEN! Half an appeal for caught behind, but no response from the umpire. There's a conference between the keeper and the bowler, but Towhid Hridoy is not interested in going upstairs. Prodigious turn and bounce on this one. Full and spinning sharply away with excessive bounce. Josh Inglis is sucked into the front foot drive, but the ball spins square past the outside edge.
FOUR! That's a glorious stroke! Nicely tossed up, full and outside off. Josh Inglis leans on with a huge stride and creams the cover drive through the gap for the first boundary of the game.
Around off, shortish in length. Mitchell Marsh stands tall and eases it away to long off for a single.
The Aussies are underway! In-drifter from Nasum, from around the stump. It is a length ball and Inglis whips t off the back foot to deep mid-wicket for a single to open his account.
We are all set for the action to begin. The umpires and the players are already out in the middle. Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis will open up for the Aussies. Nasum Ahmed has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Let's play...
A quick word - Joel Davies says it was a really proud moment for him to pick three wickets on his T20I debut, but admits he didn't think it would happen this quickly. On whether the Big Bash experience helped him, he agrees and credits the Big Bash for giving him the confidence to perform at this level, and mentions that conversations with mentors Steve O'Keefe and Moises Henriques back home gave him a great deal of belief as well. On the conditions in Bangladesh, Davies says it is his first time in the subcontinent and that he had expected a lot of spin based on what he had seen on television. He says it has not spun as much as anticipated, and that the bounce has been a little on the low side.
PITCH REPORT - Athar Ali Khan is inspecting the conditions in Chattogram. He first informs that a new surface will be used. Also points out that there was a bit of overnight rain, but the conditions are dry as the venue has a good drainage system. Mentions that the pitch looks much the same as before, and he also observes some bare patches and little grass on offer. He feels the spinners will find enough to work with and will pose more questions today than the pacers. For the batters, he stresses the need to spend time in the middle and apply themselves before looking to go big.
Bangladesh (Playing XI) - Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Parvez Hossain Emon (WK), Towhid Hridoy (C), Shamim Hossain, Abdul Saqlain, Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed (In for Mahedi Hasan), Mustafizur Rahman, Nahid Rana (In for Shoriful Islam).
Australia (Playing XI) - Mitchell Marsh (C), Josh Inglis (WK), Cooper Connolly, Tim David, Matt Renshaw, Nikhil Chaudhary, Aaron Hardie (In for Xavier Bartlett), Joel Davies, Nathan Ellis, Spencer Johnson, Adam Zampa.
The captain of Bangladesh - Towhid Hridoy, when asked about Litton, says that Das is improving but needs more time to find his best. On the areas to improve, he stresses that they need to work on their partnerships as a batting unit. And about the team combination, he informs that Mahedi Hasan and Shoriful are not playing and Nahid Rana comes in and so does Nasum. When asked about the reasons for the changes, Hridoy says that they want to give an opportunity to all.
The captain of Australia - Mitchell Marsh says that they got a good gauge of the conditions last time and want to set a total today. He then talks about the debutants in the last game and feels that they did a fine job. Further mentions that it was an all-around performance last time, but there's still room for improvement. Ends by informing that they have one change as Aaron Hardie comes in for Xavier Bartlett and the reason for that is they would like the extra bit of batting on this kind of surface.
TOSS - Both captains are out in the middle for the coin flip. Marsh for Australia, still no Litton for the hosts as it will be Hridoy again to lead. It's a bit overcast out there, but nothing threatening, honestly. Hridoy gives it a flick and Marsh calls it right. Australia have opted to BAT first.
Combinations and pitch expectations - Bangladesh went spin-heavy to suit the conditions, and so did Australia. But that meant sacrificing the likes of Nahid Rana and Taskin Ahmed, and with Shoriful and The Fizz both doing a decent job, the hosts now face a genuine selection headache over whether to bring either of those two back in. For Australia, the run chase of 132 was not as clinical as they would have liked, but changes look highly unlikely, or at best rotational, and they have the bench strength to cover whichever way they go.As for the weather, overcast conditions are expected with some rain in the forecast, too, which could well push one of the sides toward an extra seamer. All of that, though, we shall find out at the toss, which is not far away. Back in a bit with the coin flip and team sheets. Stay tuned.
Acclimatised and hungry - As that score line tells you, it’s the Aussies who landed the first punch after a difficult ODI series defeat on this very tour. They dominated the hosts in the opener and are now eyeing a series seal. Looking at their recent performances abroad in the shortest format, barring that forgettable Pakistan tour where they faced a clean sweep before this series, they actually won four of the five bilaterals away from home, and drew one as well. For the Aussies, it will be on the big boys to stand and deliver once again. Since the last T20 World Cup, Marsh and Inglis have been the two most prolific run-scorers in the current squad, and where a series could be wrapped up, expect both of them to come out with that extra edge, with Connolly, who has already put on some impressive stints, to claim the number three spot, with an ability to withstand tough situations.
Survival at home - Bangladesh were guilty of playing too many glory shots rather than settling in the series opener. They will again be missing Litton Das if he is not available, still recovering from a left calf injury. So the responsibility to shield the batting unit falls on captain Towhid Hridoy and the experience of Soumya Sarkar, while openers Tanzid and Saif need to provide the kind of stable starts the middle order can actually cash in on. In the only T20I series played against Australia, the hosts bossed it with a 4-1 win back in 2021. They broke quite a few records in the ODIs too, and the opportunity is there to add to that legacy here. But first, they will have to navigate the spin trap the Aussies laid so expertly in the first game. Nine wickets fell to spinners on a slowish Chattogram track, with Zampa and young debutant Joel Davies pulling the strings throughout.
0-1 - Hola, everyone! Yes, we know that the mighty FIFA World Cup 2026 is in full swing in the USA and without even bothering about the time zones, we all sports buffs are glued to multiple screens at a time to have a glimpse of what’s happening in the sporting world. But don’t be mistaken, that’s not a score line for any football game. But amid all the major global sporting events, including the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, that’s the score line of a series that’s quietly going on in the subcontinent where two teams are scraping hard to dominate. Welcome to our coverage of the 2nd T20I between Bangladesh and Australia. The visitors have taken an early lead and the hosts will be desperate to bounce back in this one.
... MATCH DAY ...
Series on the line - Bangladesh and Australia return to action in Chattogram for the second T20I, with the hosts looking to bounce back after losing the series opener. Bangladesh's recent ODI record at home is impressive, but in T20Is, they have managed just one series win in their last three, and they are in danger of losing another series unless they come up with a response. Searching for answers - Over the last year, Bangladesh's batting has swung between the highs and the lows. Their skipper Litton Das missed the series opener with a muscle tear, and his potential return would provide a significant boost to a top order that has struggled for consistency. The hosts also chose to leave out both Nahid Rana and Taskin Ahmed in the first T20I as they managed their workloads following the ODI series. In their absence, Abdul Saqlain was handed a debut and picked up a couple of wickets, but he proved a touch expensive. Rana has played just one T20I so far, but his raw pace has already troubled batters in both ODI and Test cricket, while Taskin brings valuable experience. With the series on the line, it would not be a surprise if either, or even both, return to the XI. Beaten at their own game - That's exactly what Australia did to Bangladesh in the series opener. On a surface that offered a bit of assistance to the spinners, the visitors claimed nine wickets through spin. Joel Davies impressed on debut with a three-wicket haul, while Adam Zampa also had three scalps to his name to become the first Australian men's cricketer to reach 150 T20I wickets. Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis failed to make a significant impact at the top, but useful contributions down the order ensured they got over the line. It was the first time Marsh and Inglis opened together for Australia in T20Is, but the pair averaged 87.5 across four innings in this year's IPL. Bangladesh will know they cannot afford to let the duo settle if they are to keep the series alive. Team form (Last 5 completed T20Is, recent first) - BAN - LLWWW | AUS - WWLLW. Conditions in focus - Surprised by the lack of pace and bounce in the surface was how Mitchell Marsh described the conditions after the opening game, with Adam Zampa echoing those sentiments. It will be interesting to see what Chattogram has in store for us this time around and whether the pitch behaves in a similar manner. There is a slight chance of rain on match day, but barring any surprises from the weather, we should be good for a full contest between two sides with plenty at stake.
