Commentary

Right then, that’s it from this game but the action continues in the Asian Games, 2023. Afghanistan will take on India in the Final of the Asian Games. That game will begin at 11.30 am IST (6.00 am GMT). But as know, you can always join us early for the build-up which begins shortly. Until then, goodbye and cheers!

Earlier today, Pakistan started off well after having put into first and were 48 for 1 at the end of 5 overs when the rain halted the play. The innings could not go further and ended at the 5-over mark. Khushdil Shah and Mirza Tahir Baig were aggressive right from the start. Mirza Tahir Baig was batting on 32 off just 18 when there was a break in play. Rakibul Hasan was the pick of the Bangladeshi bowlers in his short spell of 2 overs as he picked the solitary wicket of Khushdil Shah. Bangladesh will be mighty proud of their effort to end up with bronze medal in the Asian Games, 2023.

Arshad Iqbal was sensational for Pakistan with the ball. He picked up 2 wickets in the opening over and came back to take another in the 4th over to round off an outstanding spell of 3 for 14 off two overs. Sufiyan Muqeem took a wicket as well but was smacked all around the park giving away 32 in his 2 overs as Pakistan slumped to a narrow loss.

Bangladesh have the bronze medal. Phew! What a humdinger we have witnessed in the 3rd place game between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Chasing 65 for the win in just 5 overs, Bangladesh was off to a horror start losing two wickets in the first over. Afif Hossain and Yasir Ali added 43 in quick time and set the tone for the chase. They kept finding boundaries at regular intervals and kept their hopes alive. With 20 needed off the final over, Yasir Ali smacked 16 off the first four balls and got out in a anti-climatic way. Rakibul Hasan came in and hit the winning runs to get his side over the line.

TOSS - The coin has landed in favor of Bangladesh and they have decided to BOWL first.

UPDATE - 7.28 am IST (1.58 am GMT) There is a slight drizzle happening at the ground and we have started to lose the overs now.

UPDATE - 7.03 am IST (1.33 am GMT) Good news folks that the players could be seen doing their warm-ups but the covers are still firmly placed protecting the square.

UPDATE - 6.27 am IST (12.57 am GMT) The game needs to start by 9.05 am IST (3.35 am GMT) local time, to constitute a 5-over match. If not, Pakistan will be winning the bronze medal by virtue of being the higher-ranked team.

UPDATE - 6.14 am IST (12.44 am GMT) The toss has been delayed due to rain.

Bangladesh just like their opponent for the day had a day to forget as they were thumped by India in the first Semi-final yesterday. The side has not batted well in both the games they have played so far but the bowling has shown some fight. To finish on the podium the Bangla Tigers need to be more clinical with the bat against one of the most lethal bowling units in Pakistan. With the Bronze Medal on the line let's see who comes out on top with toss and team updates to follow.

Pakistan had a bad outing against Afghanistan yesterday as they lost to the Afghans by 4 wickets. The batting for the Men in Green has not been on point and the top order has faltered massively. Arafat Minhas has been one of the finds for Pakistan so far with his all-round abilities coming good for the side. Pakistan needs to bat well at the top as facing the Bangladesh bowlers would not be easy by any stretch of the imagination.

Hello and welcome to everyone tuning in as we build up to the Bronze Medal match of the Asian Games 2023. Pakistan takes on Bangladesh at the ZJUT Cricket Field. Hangzhou, Zhejiang.

...MATCHDAY...

The time has come for Medals to be decided and it is the Bronze Medal match that is going to be played between Pakistan and Bangladesh. With both teams losing their respective Semi finals all is not lost as they still stand a chance to win this one and take a Medal back home. Bangladesh were completely outclassed by a masterclass performance from India as they lost by 9 wickets. Batting has faltered big time for Bangladesh while the bowlers couldn't keep up with the pressure that the Indian batters exerted on them. Pakistan on the other hand, had a torrid outing against Afghanistan as they lost the game by 6 wickets. Pakistan fought well to try and defend 115 but a bad decision to bring on pace in the 18th over cost them the game ultimately. The challenge for both sides would be to counter each other's bowling units as the batters have not enjoyed a good run in this campaign thus far. Who is going to end up with a podium finish and a Bronze Medal hanging by their neck seems to be seen as an exciting contest awaits us all.
