Commentary
We are back for the chase! West Indies are in a huddle, where Shai Hope is giving them a last-minute pep talk before they take their respective field positions. Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan are the two openers for Bangladesh. Jayden Seales to start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...
... THE RUN CHASE ...
Right then, 150 is the target for Bangladesh to square the series. In the previous game, they lost momentum with the ball in the death overs before the chase even began, but this time it’s a completely different story - they’ll head into the run chase with plenty of confidence. West Indies, on the other hand, will be disappointed after being on course for a total close to 180–200 at one stage. Now, their bowlers will have to dig deep and deliver something special to defend what looks like a below-par score, but this is cricket, and anything can happen. Join us in a bit for the second essay.
Nasum Ahmed of Bangladesh is up for a quick chat. He says that the wicket has some grass on it, and that's why the captain preferred to go with the seamers early on. Adds that he bowled the last over of the Powerplay, and gave away a few runs, but also created some chances. Mentions that the bowlers did very well in the last 10 overs, and they gave away just 48 runs, which was a great comeback. Ends by saying that he has confidence in his batters to chase it down.
West Indies looked in complete control at 106/1, but once Nasum Ahmed dismissed Alick Athanaze, the innings unraveled spectacularly. In a shocking collapse, they went from 112/1 to 112/6, losing five wickets for just 12 runs. Apart from Shai Hope and Athanaze, no one managed to find any rhythm on what seemed a good batting track. Despite a couple of dropped chances and sloppy fielding in the first few overs, Litton Das will be happy with his team. He rotated his bowlers smartly and was rewarded handsomely, with Nasum, Rishad Hossain, and Mustafizur Rahman each striking twice in their respective overs. Mustafizur was the standout performer, finishing with a brilliant three-wicket haul, while Taskin Ahmed also chipped in with one to cap off an amazing bowling effort, where they gave away just 48 runs in the last ten overs, picking up 8 wickets.
A tale of two halves indeed! After losing an early wicket, West Indies took control with the bat through a superb 105-run partnership between Shai Hope and Alick Athanaze, both registering fluent fifties to take the score to 94/1 at the halfway stage - setting the platform for a big total. But what followed was a spirited comeback from Bangladesh and a familiar nemesis for the Windies - another batting collapse that completely shifted the momentum of the game.

OUT! AKEAL HOSEIN IS RUN OUT! Mustafizur hits the back of a length, and slants it across the batter, outside off. Roston Chase plays off the back foot and tries to pull it strongly towards deep square leg, but misses. Akeal sniffs to pinch in a bye, but Chase slips after playing the shot, and hence, Hosein has to retreat back. Seeing him running at the danger end, Litton Das collects the ball and throws it towards the bowler. Mustafizur Rahman collects it cleanly and breaks the stumps, with Akeal Hosein out by a country mile. A magnificent final over from Mustafizur Rahman. Concedes just 5 runs and ends with figures of 4-0-21-3. WEST INDIES END WITH 149/9 ON THE BOARD!
Back of a length, around middle and off. Roston Chase again attempts to pull it off the back foot, but this time, he gets cramped up for room and only manages to get a thick inside edge onto the front pad. The ball keeps swirling on the pitch.
FOUR! SMASH! On a hard length, on middle and angling away. Roston Chase stands tall and muscles it with the pull shot to deep square leg for a cracking boundary.
In front of the sticks, full in length, Akeal Hosein calmly flicks it along the ground to deep mid-wicket for a single.
Akeal Hosein comes out to face the hat-tick ball.
OUT! CLEANED HIM UP! Mustafizur Rahman gets his third wicket and is on a Hat-Trick! A huge nip-backer on a good length. It lands and skids through the deck. Khary Pierre shapes up to pull it to deep mid-wicket, but the ball stays low and beats the inside edge before crashing into the middle stump. A golden duck for Khary Pierre. West Indies are 144/8.
Khary Pierre walks out to bat now.
OUT! IN THE AIR AND GONE! Mustafizur Rahman strikes for the second time. He slams the deck hard, outside off. Romario Shepherd stays on the back foot and attempts to cut it powerfully over deep backward point, but neither does he get the distance nor the timing right on it. Ends up airing it straight down the throat of Jaker Ali at deep backward point. Ali takes a simple catch. Romario Shepherd departs for 13 (16) and West Indies are 144/7.
Can 'The Fizz' keep the Windies under 155 runs here?

A massive, lengthy appeal for LBW! Taskin is pleading with the umpire, but not given. Litton Das is not interested in going upstairs, as it has clearly come off the bat. A pinpoint yorker from Taskin, aimed at the stumps, Romario Shepherd just about manages to jam the bat down in time and hits off the outer half of the bat to point for a single.
Slower short ball, on middle. Roston Chase waits back and pulls it straight to deep mid-wicket for a single.
Attempted yorker, on the stumps. Romario Shepherd carves it out to the leg side and steals a single.
TOP EDGE, FOUR! Shepherd won't mind it no matter how the runs come. Another pace off delivery, short in length. Romario Shepherd viciously swings the bat to pull it over the leg side, but only manages a thick top edge. The ball flies over short third and races away to the fence behind.
Slower one, on a length, pulled away to deep mid-wicket for a single.
Good work in the deep by Tanzim Hasan Sakib. A low full toss, tailing into the batter. Roston Chase heaves it to deep square leg. Tanzim Hasan Sakib from deep mid-wicket runs to his right and cuts it off with a slide. Flicks the ball in the playing area, gets back on his feet and picks up before throwing it to the keeper. Two taken.
It will be Taskin Ahmed to bowl the penultimate over.

In-between length, around off, Chase heaves it to deep mid-wicket for a single. Just 6 runs off this over. 9 from the last 2 overs for West Indies.
Litton Das has a couple of options to give the ball for the next over. He can for Rishad Hossain, but that might be a bit too risky at this stage. The other option is Taskin Ahmed, who has gone for 18 runs in his two overs.
WIDE! For height! Bowls a short one, but well over the head height. Roston Chase shuffles a long way across to scoop it over short fine leg, but misses. Wide called.
Geez, that almost took Chase on its way! Back of a length, just outside off. Romario Shepherd stands tall and plays a cross-batted shot, flat and straight down the ground. Roston Chase evades just in the nick of time by ducking under it. The ball rolls to long off for a single.
On a back of a length, skidding through, outside off. Romario Shepherd shapes to cut it square on the off side, but plays too close to the body and ends up chopping it to point.
Slams it hard on the deck, on off. Roston Chase tucks it wide of mid-wicket and gets a single.
Very full, wide on off. Roston Chase carves it to deep extra cover for a couple of runs.
Zips through the deck, on the leg stump line. Roston Chase gets inside the line to whip it to the leg side, but misses. As the ball passes within the new wide guideline on the leg side, it is not called a wide.
Commentary
So, West Indies claim their second T20I series win of this calendar year, having already conquered Ireland earlier. This also marks West Indies' third consecutive T20I series win against Bangladesh in Bangladesh. They will now be eyeing to execute a clean sweep. It's been a disappointing series for Bangladesh so far. The series is gone, but there's still pride on the line. They'll be desperate to bounce back in the final game and avoid the whitewash, but have a lot of introspection to be done, especially with their approach while batting. That wraps it up, then. The third and final T20I will be played at the same venue of Chattogram on Friday, 31st October, with the first ball scheduled to be bowled at 12 pm GMT. Do join us for all the pre-match analysis an hour earlier. But until then, it is goodbye, only to meet again. Take care, cheers!
The victorious captain of West Indies, Shai Hope, says that they mentioned at the halfway stage that they could've got anything near 190, but admits that they fell well short of that figure. Adds that they still believed they could defend the target and the bowlers did extremely well. Mentions that they did not do themselves any favours with the dropped catches but in the end, they got over the line and that is what matters. Says that he is very happy with the series win, and they will try to make it 3-0 and go on a high to New Zealand.
West Indies' Romario Shepherd bags the PLAYER OF THE MATCH award for his exceptional bowling spell. He starts by acknowledging how tough it was to score freely at the death and stresses they needed a strong start with the ball. He praises Holder and Seales for doing exactly that in the Powerplay, hitting the right areas consistently. Shepherd points out that defending a modest total like this left zero margin for error. He owns up to their poor day in the field but says they quickly put it behind them and stayed focused on their plans. With a cheeky grin, he reckons the fielding coach will be fuming, especially after how sharp they were in the previous match.
The captain of Bangladesh, Litton Das, reflects on the defeat. He says that in the last 2-3 series, the bowlers have done really well and he feels sorry for them as they couldn't get the job done. Adds that 150 is not a big score, especially here in Chattogram but whenever the batters got stuck, they gave their wickets away. Mentions that they need to improve on that and he himself also needs to do well, as he thinks if he batted till the 12th-13th overs, the game could have finished earlier. Says that West Indies didn't field like the way they did in the first game, where they took excellent catches, but it matters little as they failed to achieve the target. Ends by saying that he is still looking forward to the last game and wants to finish on a high note for the home crowd.
... THE PRESENTATION CEREMONY ...
Earlier in the game, West Indies chose to bat first under Chattogram's humid weather. What looked certain to be a 200-plus total turned into a horror show. The tourists stormed to 94/1 in the first ten overs, with Shai Hope and Alick Athanze putting on a destructive 105-run partnership, both scoring their respective fifties. Then came the collapse. Reckless shot selection and strangling bowling flipped the script completely. From a commanding 106/1, West Indies crashed to 149/9, with every big name failing when it mattered. They only managed 55 runs in the final ten overs, losing eight wickets. Nasum Ahmed sparked the meltdown with crucial breakthroughs after getting hammered early, but Mustafizur Rahman was the real executioner, producing another masterclass with a deadly 3-wicket haul. What should've been a dominant score ended up way below par.
Credit where it's due, though. West Indies bowlers were outstanding through and through, and especially in that middle phase. Despite dropping as many as four catches and being extremely sloppy in the ground fielding as well, they managed a remarkable chokehold with the ball. Akeal Hosein extracted serious turn from the surface while the pacers worked their magic with clever variations and slower balls, never allowing the batters to free their arms. And once Tanzid Hasan was dismissed by Romario Shepherd, the tourists just gatecrashed to claim a famous win. Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd ended up with 3 wickets apiece, while Jason Holder bagged two to his name.
Both batters cashed in with a 35-run stand before Akeal Hosein produced an absolute ripper to dismiss Das, dragging West Indies right back into the contest and forcing Bangladesh into yet another rebuilding phase. The pitch offered enough grip for the spinners, and with no dew in sight, they strangled the middle overs brilliantly. All Bangladesh needed was one solid partnership to bring this chase home, but they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Tanzid Hasan crafted a superb fifty but got zero support from his partners, with Jaker Ali unable to time anything cleanly. Suffocated by mounting dot balls and dried-up boundaries, Hasan perished at the worst possible moment for Bangladesh, and with that, the game slipped beyond their grasp. To be very honest, Bangladesh left too much to climb in the backend and crumbled badly and for the second time in a row, they have failed to construct a successful run chase.
Chasing a modest 150, Bangladesh made a shaky start and lost Saif Hassan inside the opening exchanges. Seales and Holder were bang on target early, keeping things incredibly tight. But Litton Das brought composure with some elegant stroke play. The first three overs yielded just 12 runs, yet the next three exploded for 25, including a crucial reprieve when Litton was dropped on 20. By the end of the Powerplay, the scales were level at 37/1.
The Caribbean flair lights up Chattogram as West Indies win this 3-match T20I series in style by 2-0, with a game to go. What a defence of a below-par total this has been from Shai Hope and his men, not once, but twice on the trot in this series! West Indies surely must have felt they left 20-25 runs out there, with 150 looking anything but challenging. But Bangladesh choked massively under pressure, and their streak of four consecutive T20I series wins comes to a crashing end, and stingingly, in front of their own faithful.

OUT! DRAGGED ON! Akeal Hosein wraps things up with a three-fer! He fires this one full and on off, angling it away. Nasum Ahmed goes down to slog sweep it but gets an inside edge onto his pads, and then the ball deflects away to hit the stumps. WEST INDIES WIN BY 14 RUNS AND GO 2-0 UP IN THE SERIES!
Quicker, full and outside off, Nasum Ahmed swings hard at it but gets a bottom edge onto the ground and then onto the keeper's pads as the ball goes nowhere.
Drags his length back, on off, Nasum Ahmed heaves it towards deep mid-wicket for a brace. It is West Indies' game now, barring any extras.
Nasum Ahmed walks in at number 9.
OUT! TAKEN! The last hope for Bangladesh goes back to the hut now! Slower through the air, shortish and around off, gets it to turn away too. Rishad Hossain tries to reach it and loft it down the ground but gets it from the toe-end of the bat. It flies in the air towards long off, where Rovman Powell runs forward a bit and takes a nice catch. Bangladesh are seven down now, still needing 17 runs in 3 balls.
Good recovery in the field! Short again and around off, Tanzim Hasan Sakib slaps it wide of sweeper covers. Alick Athanaze almost overruns it to his right, but manages to get his hands to the other side to grab it. Just one. 17 runs needed in 4 balls now!
WIDE! Floated, full and around middle, turns a long way outside off, Tanzim Hasan Sakib leaves it alone. Wided.
Flatter, shortish and around off, angling away, Tanzim Hasan Sakib throws his bat at it and slices it over point for a brace. 19 needed in 5 balls now!
Final over to go then. Bangladesh need a miracle of a finish as they still require 21 runs off the last 6 legal balls to level the series. Akeal Hosein (3-0-16-1) to deliver the last over of the match.

Short of a length, on top of middle. Tanzim Hasan Sakib pulls it off the back foot to deep mid-wicket for a single.
Fires one on a fuller length, angled at the middle and leg stump line. Tanzim flicks it between long on and deep mid-wicket for a couple of quick runs before the throw is released towards the bowler.
Goes short again and around off, Tanzim Hasan Sakib connects with it and slaps it over extra covers for a couple of runs.
Back of a length and outside off, gets some extra bounce, Tanzim Hasan Sakib slashes at it but misses.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib is in at number 8.
OUT! BOWLED'EM! Jason Holder strikes gold! It is going from bad to worse for Bangladesh in this moderate run chase. Holder comes around the wicket and nails a perfect yorker, lasering on middle and off. Shamim Hossain is very late to get his bat down in time and the ball goes through to shatter the stumps. Holder brings on the dancing moves. Bangladesh are 124/6, still needing 26 runs in 11 balls!

OUT! TAKEN! Romario Shepherd gets his second of the over and ends his spell with a three-fer. It's pin-drop silence here in Chattogram. This is a well-directed bouncer, outside off. Jaker Ali tries to take it on and looks to pull it away but the ball gets big on him. It takes the top edge and flies straight to deep mid-wicket, where Khary Pierre takes a fine catch inches ahead of the ropes. End of a clumsy 17 off 18, and Bangladesh lose half their side now.
Excellent stop! Fuller and on off, Jaker Ali drills it down the pitch. Romario Shepherd, on his follow-through, sticks out his right hand to grab it. He had the chance to throw it at the stumps with Shamim backing up a long way, but decided not to do it.
FOUR! Gets one away finally! Romario Shepherd goes short again and outside off, Jaker Ali manages to get on top of the bounce and crunches it through extra covers for a boundary. 26 needed in 14 balls now!
Bangs this into the pitch, on middle, Jaker Ali looks to swat it away but gets a bit hurried and mistimes it towards long on. He manages to get back for the second run.
Back of a length and around off, Shamim Hossain cuts it through point for a single.
Shamim Hossain walks in at number 6.
OUT! TAKEN! Romario Shepherd gets the set batter here, and Bangladesh are under a lot of pressure now. Short of a length and outside off, gives no pace at all. Tanzid Hasan looks to cut it away hard but has to generate his own power. He fails to do so and ends up slicing it towards deep backward point, where Brandon King does not have to move an inch and takes a fine catch. Hasan departs for a fine 61 off 48. Bangladesh are 117/7, needing 33 runs in 17 balls!

Swing and a miss! Hits the length hard and on off, takes pace off, Jaker Ali swings decades early and misses. The crowd is getting frustrated as well now.

Short and outside off, Tanzid Hasan cuts it away between deep point and sweeper covers for a brace.
Back of a length and on off, Jaker Ali swats it off the toe-end of the bat towards long on for a single. He is not timing the ball at all.

Are Bangladesh leaving a bit too much for the last? Only time will tell.
WIDE! Short of a length but a bit too down the leg side this time, Tanzid Hasan tries to hook it away but misses. Called a wide.
Goes fuller and on middle, angling down the leg side, Tanzid Hasan steps across to glance it away but misses. Not given as wide as this is inside the new wide guideline.

Back-of-the-hand slower one, outside off, Tanzid Hasan dabs it wide of backward point for a single. Bangladesh need 50 runs off the last 30 balls.
FOUR! FIFTY FOR TANZID HASAN! His 9th T20I half century, and this has come at a very crucial time for his team, but he knows that the job is far from done. Length ball, just around the off stump. Tanzid Hasan advances down the track and mercilessly smashes it through the cover and mid off gap for a boundary. That was struck with some real venom. Tanzid has been exceptional for Bangladesh in the shortest format, and it is crucial for him to finish it off for his side from this position.
WIDE! Miles outside off, beyond the tramline. Hasan leaves it alone. Wide called.
Sharp short ball, on the stumps. Jaker Ali weighs back and tries to pull it over the leg side, but mistimes it off the top edge. The ball hangs up for a bit, but goes over mid-wicket and lands safely in the deep. A single taken.
Pace off, on a length, outside off. Jaker Ali shuffles to the off side and knocks it to cover-point.
TOP EDGE, FOUR! Dug in short and it rears up viciously. Jaker shuffles across, caught in two minds between pulling and leaving. He hangs his bat with an angle and the top edge flies over short fine leg for a boundary.

Slows it up, on a tad fuller length, on off. Jaker Ali plays it late off the back foot and stabs it to the off side.
IN THE AIR AND DROPPED... AGAIN! This is unbelievably sloppy fielding from West Indies, as this is the fourth catch put down. Short of a length, spinning back in very sharply from outside off. Tanzid Hasan is rushed on the back foot and goes for the pull but gets it right off the cue end, lobbing it straight to Athanaze, who puts it down at deep mid-wicket. He had enough time and the trajectory was at a comfortable height as well. This will probably come back to haunt them.

BEATEN! Pace on this time, on a hard length, outside off. Tanzid Hasan flashes at it, playing away from the body, and misses on connection.
Slower off cutter, on a good length, around off, nipping away. Tanzid Hasan fails to read the pace off and shapes to cut it square on the off side. Manages only a faint outside edge that dips low on the bounce to the keeper.

MISFIELD, FOUR! This is really sloppy from West Indies. Full and tossed up on middle. Tawhid Hridoy slogs it over mid-wicket. Jason Holder from deep square leg, runs to his left and just casually overruns, while attempting to flick it back with his hands. The ball evades him and races into the fence. Khary Pierre is not a happy bowler, and right so.

Short of a length, outside off, Hasan cuts it to deep point for a single.
IN THE AIR AND DROPPED! Dear me, this is the third chance gone begging in the field for the Windies. Pitched full and on the middle stump. Tawhid Hridoy gets down on a knee and sweeps it aerially, but mistimes it massively off the toe end. The ball dips in front of deep square leg where Jayden Seales is a bit slow to get off the blocks. Eventually, he puts in a dive forward, but fails to scoop it above the grass and shells it. A single taken.
DRINKS BREAK. Bangladesh were pushed into another rebuilding phase with Litton Das' dismissal, but Tanzid Hasan has shown good intent to keep the scorecard moving. All they need is to form a good partnership, without being flashy, to cross the line as the asking rate is not at all massive at the moment. West Indies, on the other hand, need wickets in heaps. The ball has turned for the spinners and with minimal dew out there, negotiating the tweakers will be a challenge in this middle phase.

Risky run! Akeal Hosein bowls this short and on off, Tawhid Hridoy punches it just wide of cover-point and sets off for the run. Roston Chase moves to his right, picks up and throws it at the keeper's end but it is just a bit wide. Shai Hope collects and breaks the stump, but by then Hasan has dragged his bat inside the crease. The replay confirms the same as well.
Shortish and on off, Tawhid Hridoy pushes it towards covers.

OUT! BOWLED'EM! Akeal Hosein strikes right away! He gets a huge wicket here and, for the second time in the series, removes Litton Das. Pushed through quicker, on a fuller length and on middle and off, skids through. Litton Das, instead of playing it off the front foot, decides to commit on the back foot. He gets beaten all ends up and sees the furniture behind him rattled. Sherfane Rutherford will be a relieved man as his dropped catch does not cost much. Das walks back for 23 off 17, and Bangladesh are 48/2, chasing 150 runs.
Goes short and on middle, Tanzid Hasan moves back and swats it towards long on for a single.

DROPPED AGAIN! Sherfane Rutherford is the culprit this time! Romario Shepherd goes fuller and on middle, angling it in a bit. Litton Das looks to slog it across the line but gets a top edge as the ball goes miles up in the night sky. Sherfane Rutherford at short mid-wicket tries to settle under it, but with the ball swirling, he has to wait for an eternity for it to come down. He tries to grab it with both hands near his midriff while already going down, but fails to hold onto it. Litton gets a huge life here. Bangladesh are 37/1 at the end of the Powerplay!

Skipper Litton Das walks out to bat at number 3.
OUT! STRAIGHT UP AND GONE! Brandon King makes amends for his dropped catch. Honestly, a pretty reckless shot as the dot ball pressure was clearly showing. Jason bowls it short and into the pitch, just outside off. It rises off the pitch. Saif Hassan gets into an awkward position, trying to swat it over covers, but gets a thick top edge. The ball swirls up in the air for a long time. Brandon King, stationed at extra cover, locks his eyes on the ball and takes a simple catch. SWING AND A MISS! Short of a good length, outside off, kicking off the pitch. Saif Hassan attempts to launch it over cover, but misses to connect. Another fantastic over from Jayden Seales. Just 5 off it.
A massive appeal for LBW, but not given. Shai Hope refuses to go upstairs, probably based on height. Seales spears it on a good length, getting it to move away from off. Saif Hassan gets across to flick it to the leg side, but misses and wears on the back pad. Ball Tracking validates Hope's decision as the ball is projected to miss the middle and leg stump. So, a smart decision from Hope to not review that.

OUT! TAKEN! Rishad Hossain with the double whammy! He flights this one up, full and on middle. Jason Holder gets tempted and looks to go big down the ground but fails to get under it. He does not get the timing as the ball flies in the air towards long on, where Tawhid Hridoy settles under it and pouches it safely. Rovman Powell is in at number 5 and will face the HAT-TRICK ball.
OUT! BOWLED'EM! Nasum Ahmed gets two in two! He pushes this one through quicker, full and on off, skids through. Sherfane Rutherford makes the mistake of playing it on the back foot and also does so down the wrong line. The ball goes past the outside edge and shatters the stumps behind. A second golden duck in a row for Rutherford in this series. West Indies are 106/3, and Nasum is on a hat-trick now.
Sherfane Rutherford is in at number 4.
OUT! TAKEN! Nasum Ahmed gets a much-needed breakthrough for Bangladesh! He floats it up, full and on middle and off. Alick Athanaze goes down on one knee to slog it away but just fails to get fully underneath the ball. He fails to get the timing right and the ball goes high in the air towards deep mid-wicket, where Tanzid Hasan runs forward and takes a fine catch. Athanaze departs for a well-made 52 off 33, and the big 105-run stand has been broken now. West Indies are 106/2.

Flatter, full and around off, Alick Athanaze uses his feet to go over covers, but yorks himself and drills it to sweeper covers for a run.
Shorter in length, on middle, Shai Hope moves back and nudges it through mid-wicket for a single.
DRINKS! Despite losing a wicket early, West Indies have scored runs at a pretty good rate and they are on course for a big total here with a lot of firepower stll left in the ranks. Alick Athanaze has just got to his half-century, while Shai Hope is not too far away, and these two haven't been troubled by the bowlers of the hosts. Bangladesh are in need of wickets here, and they need them in heaps to shift the momentum and restrict the Windies from getting to a score that will be chasable on this wicket. So far, the spinners have been taken to the cleaners, which is not a good sign for the Men in Green, and it will be interesting to see how Litton Das plans things ahead from here. Also, Shamim Hossain to bowl after the break, replacing Rishad Hossain.

Drags the length on middle, Alick Athanaze hangs deep inside the crease and works it across the line to deep square leg for a single to reach his milestone. He has looked absolutely unbothered so far and would like to extend this into an inning of substance for his side.
On a length, around off, punched back to the bowler.
JUST IN! On the shorter side, on middle, Alick nudges it to the deep mid-wicket region off the back foot and straightaway calls for the second run. The fielder in the deep cuts it off and releases a flat direct hit at the bowler's end, with Hope trying to slide the bat inside the crease at the bowling end. After checking several angles, the third umpire deems that some part of Hope's bat is inside the crease. Two runs added.

However, his bat turns upon contact and the ball goes off the bottom half of the bat. It flies towards mid off, where Tawhid Hridoy moves to his left to take a good catch. King fails to make the most of the life given to him in the first over. He walks back for 1 off 4, and West Indies are 1/1!
Pitched up and on off, Brandon King drills it straight to mid off.
A big shout for LBW, but turned down! Taskin Ahmed begins with a fuller delivery, on middle, swinging in sharply. Brandon King fails to clip it away and gets hit on the pads. Probably going down the leg side, and Bangladesh do not review it either.

Litton Das, the keeper, flings himself to his right, gets both gloves on it, but just fails to hold onto it as the ball goes towards short third. A single taken. King gets a life on the very first ball.
All in readiness for the second T20I to get underway in Chattogram. It is almost a full house as a good crowd has turned up at the stadium, despite it being a working day. Righto, the umpires make their way out to the middle. The players of Bangladesh scatter out of the team huddle and take their respective field positions. The left-right combination of Alick Athanaze and Brandon King walks out to open for West Indies. Tanzim Hasan Sakib has the new ball and is raring to go. A slip in place. King to face. And here we go...
PITCH REPORT - Farveez Maharoof shares his assessment from pitchside. He notes that the surface differs slightly from the previous match, with a bit more grass coverage and fewer visible cracks. Maharoof feels the ball will get good bounce and carry for the quicks if they pitch it on a short of good length, while also pointing out that cutters could be effective on this track. He stresses that it's crucial for the new-ball bowlers to strike early and pick up wickets during the Powerplay.
The skipper of Bangladesh, Litton Das, says that in the last couple of series, the bowlers have done well, but the batters need to step up. Adds that the wicket looks good and there will be dew later on, so anything under 180 will be good. Mentions that when you are chasing a big total against any team, any of the top four needs to bat at least till the 15th over to anchor the innings. Informs that they have made one change as Jaker Ali comes in for Nurul Hasan.
The captain of West Indies, Shai Hope, says that the pitch looks a bit dry in nature and hence, putting runs on the board first looks good. On being asked about what worked well in the first match, he adds that it was about having a nice template to put on a big total and aims to get 15-20 more runs than the previous game. Hope says they'll figure out a competitive total once they get a feel for how the pitch is playing, but he reckons somewhere around 180 should do the job on this wicket. Informs that they are going unchanged.
Bangladesh (Playing XI) - Tanzid Hasan, Saif Hassan, Litton Das (C/WK), Jaker Ali (In place of Nurul Hasan), Shamim Hossain, Tawhid Hridoy, Taskin Ahmed, Rishad Hossain, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman.
West Indies (Unchanged Playing XI) - Brandon King, Alick Athanaze, Shai Hope (C/WK), Roston Chase, Sherfane Rutherford, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Romario Shepherd, Akeal Hosein, Khary Pierre, Jayden Seales.
TOSS - The coin lands in favour of Shai Hope and West Indies have elected to BAT first.
West Indies enter this clash brimming with confidence after showing they can handle the slow and turning tracks of Chattogram effectively. The spotlight in the first game belonged to Rovman Powell, who marked his 100th T20I with a match-winning performance, both with the bat and in the field. The openers displayed great maturity, while Shai Hope’s purple patch with the bat continued. What makes the Windies even more dangerous is that the likes of Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd weren’t even needed with the bat in the first game. Akeal Hosein continues to be a real handful with the new ball, and Jayden Seales looks increasingly comfortable in this format. They appear to be a well-balanced and confident side, and another all-round performance could see them seal the series and end Bangladesh’s remarkable run of four consecutive bilateral T20I series wins. Stay tuned for toss and other updates.
Bangladesh will know they let the first game slip away from their grasp. Their bowlers did well for the most part, keeping the Windies in check, but some wayward death bowling undid all the hard work and proved costly in the end. Nasum Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman were impressive with the ball, but they’ll need better support from the others, particularly in the closing overs. Litton Das, after the game, urged Shamim Hossain to take more responsibility - a message that applies to the rest of the batting lineup too, as poor shot selection hurt them at crucial moments. If Bangladesh can show a bit more composure and patience with both bat and ball, they’ll be a serious threat, especially in their own backyard.
Hello and a warm welcome, everyone! We’re back at the Bir Shrestha Shahid Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram for the second T20I between Bangladesh and West Indies. The visitors hold the upper hand after a strong showing in the opener, displaying great character and resilience following the heavy defeat in the ODI series. Darren Sammy’s men will now be eyeing a series win with a game to spare, while Bangladesh find themselves under pressure from their passionate home crowd and will be eager to bounce back to level things up and set up a thrilling decider.
... MATCH DAY ...
Grande de Bengala, that old Portuguese moniker for Chattogram, the Port City, roars back to life for the second T20I between Bangladesh and West Indies in this 3-match series. So far, this white-ball contest has been a grind for the batters, gasping for runs while the bowlers run the show and dictate terms and conditions. It all started with the ODIs in the capital, Dhaka, where batting felt like navigating a minefield, and the opening T20I followed the same script with a slow, low pitch that made run-scoring a proper slog. It wasn't quite as brutal as the longer format, but it was close. Still, whispers of batting-friendly conditions being rolled out are doing the rounds. The real battle here is how teams handle the Powerplay against the new ball. Both sides have struggled, but the hosts have looked far more rattled. Their top order was dismantled and will be desperate to make up for their dismal showing in the series opener. A lot of faith has been put in the opening pair of Tanzid Hasan and Saif Hassan, but the returns have been brutal. They've managed just one fifty-plus partnership this calendar year while trying out seven different opening combinations. That's a problem that needs fixing, fast, for a settled World Cup roster for the next year. A lot will once again hinge on skipper Litton Das and Tawhid Hridoy to dig the middle order out of trouble. On the bowling front, Bangladesh must be tearing their hair out because they bowled superbly, but that conversion into wickets was alarming. They managed just three scalps despite keeping things tight, and critically, need to tighten their screws in death bowling as well. On the brighter side, Nasum Ahmed has emerged as a genuine threat alongside Rishad Hossain in the spin department. The pace trio of Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib, have all been productive in white-ball cricket at least. For West Indies, this looks like a far more settled batting unit with the top four doing the heavy lifting, even if they were a touch sluggish. Their opening combinations have been questioned for ages, but promoting Alick Athanaze to the top has given them much better balance, especially with a streak of big hitters to follow. The main knock on the Windies has always been their one-dimensional approach with the bat and their inability to adapt and guide a chase. But this top three of Alick Athanaze, Brandon King, and skipper Shai Hope finally offers the mix they've been searching for, blending technique with firepower. With the ball, Jayden Seales has done an impressive job in the absence of some key frontline pacers, well supported by the ever-reliable Jason Holder. On the spin front, Akeal Hosein's heroics remain a proven weapon. If the West Indies can piece things together consistently, this unit has everything it takes to strike, and strike hard. Bangladesh, meanwhile, are chasing their fifth straight bilateral T20I series win and have the chance to push this contest into a decider. For West Indies, a win here would seal their second series triumph of the year and build solid momentum ahead of the big event just a few months away. All set, then, for another thrilling clash between Bangladesh’s home advantage and that unmistakable Caribbean flair.

OUT!
Last 2 overs to go. Jason Holder (3-0-15-1) is into the attack for the penultimate over. Bangladesh need 26 runs to win. Rishad Hossain is the new batter in at number 7.

OUT!
