The openers for England looked solid for the first few overs, but Ben Duckett got trapped in front by Mitchell Starc. Moeen Ali was promoted to number 3 but it didn't work out for the hosts. Then Zak Crawley and Joe Root started scoring freely, but a lazy shot from the former cost him his wicket. Once Harry Brook came in, the boundaries started to flow for England but just as when Root was looking settled, Pat Cummins got him for the third time in a row in this series. Brook continued his attacking display and saw out the rest of the session along with Ben Stokes as they need under a 100 to win now. Australia will want to make early inroads post Lunch to put more pressure on the hosts or else this could go only one way. Australia, on the other hand will be disappointed with their batting performance on Day 3, but the wicket was very difficult to bat on with uneven bounce. However, an excellent 77 from Travis Head gave their bowlers something to play with but Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett who nicked it a couple of times survived a tricky five overs to end Day 3. The Aussie pacers will look to use the conditions as well to get the early breakthroughs while the hosts need their batters to step up and get over the line. Todd Murphy could play a big part for the visitors as we may see some turn too on the pitch. We hope that the rain stays away and if that happens, we will get a result. Even though rain played a big part on the 'Moving Day', the hosts kept their cool and took advantage of the conditions massively. Their pace trio of Stuart Broad, Mark Wood and Chris Woakes were right on the money and restricted the Aussies from setting a huge target. However, they struggled a bit to get rid of Travis Head who scored a lot of runs or else the hosts would have been chasing something under 200.

Right then, that is it from a rain-curtailed Day 3 where we saw very little action but it was filled with excitement. England need 224 runs to win with all wickets in hand and they will back themselves unless the rain gods go against them. After waiting for a long, long time, the rain gobbled up more than two sessions of play, but whatever cricket was played it was all England. Chris Woakes started really well by getting rid of Mitchell Marsh and then Mark Wood followed it up with a couple as well. However, they did struggle a bit to get through Travis Head who scored a fighting fifty and helped the Aussies set a decent target. England, though still will be happy with the way things are going and will be confident of chasing this down as both their openers saw out a tricky five overs in the end. Australia will be a bit disappointed with their batting but the wicket helped the bowlers a lot and they will look to take advantage of that when they come out on Day 4.

Well, there were not many overs bowled today but there was indeed a lot of drama! The pitch was totally in favour of the bowlers and England took full advantage of it. The Aussies lost six wickets in about 20 overs of play. They finished their second innings on 224 and set a target of 251 for the hosts. The rain-affected 'Moving Day', belonged to the hosts as they keep their hopes alive of making a comeback in the Ashes.

Update - 8.48 pm IST (3.18 pm GMT)  - Some good news folks! If there is no further rain, play will start at 9.15 pm IST (3.45 pm GMT). Also, a total of 34 overs is to be bowled today.

Update - 8.32 pm IST (3.02 pm GMT) - Some positive news! The rain has relented and the ground staff are currently in the process of removing covers. Another inspection has been scheduled for 8.45 pm IST (3.15 pm GMT).

TEA - As the waiting game continues, the umpires have decided to take Tea from 7.40 pm IST (2.10 pm GMT). Also, there will be a pitch inspection at 8.15 pm IST (2.45 pm GMT).

Update - 6.39 pm IST (1.09 pm GMT) - Unfortunately, there is no promising update from the ground as it is still raining. It is not a heavy shower but it is drizzling enough to keep the covers firmly in place. The weather is expected to improve in an hour or so, so let's keep our fingers crossed.

Update - 5.46 pm IST (12.16 pm GMT) - The waiting game continues! The covers did come off during the Lunch break but the skies opened up once again and as a result, the ground staff had to put the covers back on. Let's hope the weather clears up soon for us to have some action here on Day 3.

EARLY LUNCH! So, the groundstaff will need at least 90 minutes to clear the ground and that is why the umpires have decided to take early lunch. If everything goes well, we can expect the second session to start at 5.40 pm IST (12.10 pm GMT).

Update - 4.02 pm IST (10.32 am GMT) - The forecast looks a bit gloomy and the groundstaff will have their task cut out throughout the day as the drainage here hasn't been the best. We can only hope that action begins soon, that is of course if the weather permits.

Update - 3.21 pm IST (9.51 am GMT) - There has been heavy rain around the ground and the covers are on at the moment. We will have a delayed start to Day 3, but we hope it is not a big one. Stay tuned for further updates.

On the other hand, Australia were given a dream start with the ball by skipper Pat Cummins. Mitchell Starc joined in on the act as well and the Starc-Cummins pairing put England in deep trouble. Ben Stokes gave them a fight but Todd Murphy did well to see the back of him. In reply, David Warner was dismissed early yet again and poor choice of shots by Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith sent shivers down the Aussie camp. Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head safely negotiated the tricky phase before Stumps and will look to build on the lead. Don't go anywhere as the action on Day 3 is coming up shortly.

Having done well to steady the ship late on Day 1, England were rocked early, losing Joe Root. Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, and Chris Woakes could not provide much support to their captain either and the hosts were struggling at 142-7. Thanks to counter-attacking knocks by Ben Stokes and Mark Wood, England conceded a slim lead of 26 runs. With the ball, the hosts had a spring in their step and ensured that they kept Australia in control at the close of play. As things stand, the first hour will be crucial for England as they look for early inroads.

Hello and a warm welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to our coverage of Day 3 of the third Test between England and Australia at Headingley in Leeds. The first two days of this Test have simply flown by and as we arrive at the moving day, it is Australia who find themselves slightly ahead in the game.

... DAY 3, SESSION 1 ...

Right then, that is it from Day 2 of this enthralling Test. No team is ahead at the moment as we go into the 'Moving Day' and we can even get a result if something extraordinary happens. The 3rd Day will start at 3.30 pm IST (10 am GMT), but you can join us early for the build-up. Cheers.

England, on the other hand would be a bit disappointed with their batting effort. No one except Stokes stood out for them. He saw wickets falling in regular intervals and when the lower order exposed, he changed his gears and went into six-hitting mode. Stokes notched up his fifty in no time but he was dropped on 45 by both Starc and Murphy. That costed the Aussies a bit as the English skipper went on to score another 35 runs and reduced the lead massively. Wood also played a good quick cameo. While bowling, Broad for Warner for the 17th time in his career as Moeen Ali got the two crucial scalps of Smith and Labuschagne in no time. Wood bowled well without much luck but Woakes took advantage of the pressure and got the important wicket of Khawaja to put more pressure on the visitors.

Pat Cummins set the tone for the Aussies by taking the wicket of Root on the second delivery of Day 2. They capitalised on it well and picked up a couple more before the end of the first session. Australia would have thought that they could bowl the hosts out quickly after Lunch but that was not the case as they faced the wrath of Ben Stokes once again. They eventually got the job done with a lead of 26 runs going out to bat again. Pat Cummins was the star with the ball with a magnificent six-wicket haul. Warner once again became a victim of Stuart Broad early on but Khawaja looked solid and along with Marnus saw out till Tea. They added 58 runs together, but a brain-fade moment cost the latter his wicket and Smith got out to a poor shot too not long after. Mitchell Marsh and Head were solid and made sure they don't lose any more wickets.

We have witnessed another riveting Day of Test cricket! Session Summary - 87 runs and 3 wickets in 35 overs. The game is nicely poised at the moment with both teams going hard at each other. However, credit must go to the hosts for the way they have played with the injuries to Stokes and Robinson and are still very much in the game.
