Commentary
Welcome back for England's reply. The two umpires have made their way out to the middle. Shreyas Iyer has not taken the field at the start, so Tilak Varma is in charge for India. Phil Salt and Jos Buttler will open the innings for England. Arshdeep Singh will kick things off with the new ball. Salt is on strike with a slip in place. Here we go...
.... THE RUN CHASE ...
England chase history - 159 is what England need to put the series to bed and seal their first-ever bilateral T20I series win over India spanning multiple matches. Given the way the hosts have batted over the last couple of games, they will start as favourites to hunt down the target. India will need to produce something special, and early wickets are an absolute must for them. The chase is coming up shortly, so stay tuned.
Iyer fought a lone battle - 15 runs came off the 2nd over of the Powerplay, and that was as good as it got for India in the first six overs. England's quicks once again relentlessly hammered the shorter lengths and pegged the visitors back with a couple of strikes. Abhishek Sharma's dismissal pushed India further onto the back foot. With Shreyas Iyer and Shivam Dube forced to rebuild, Harry Brook kept the attack pace-heavy against Dube and was careful not to offer him much spin. When he eventually did turn to Will Jacks, the off-spinner won that battle and capped off a superb spell built on excellent control. Iyer held the innings together and was particularly severe on Adil Rashid, but couldn't provide the late flourish his side so desperately needed.
India denied the finishing kick - Just 8 runs in the last two overs, and it could well prove to be the difference by the end of the night. England will be pleased with their effort in the field. Apart from Adil Rashid, every bowler played his part in keeping India in check. The quicks, in particular, once again stuck to the hard lengths and short-ball plan, making a conscious effort to keep the ball away from India's hitting arc. India, for their part, struggled against that approach yet again, with several batters falling while trying to hit across the line.

OUT! AXAR PATEL IS RUN OUT! A skillful piece of play from Jofra Archer and India finish with 158/7 after 20 overs. Archer hammers the hard length and gets the ball to jag back into the batter. Shreyas Iyer hangs back and gets beaten, getting hit on the thigh pad. The ball just drops down on the track, and the batters look to steal a leg bye. Archer is quick to run after it and kicks it with the right boot, scoring a direct hit at the keeper's end. Replays show that Patel is short of his crease and Archer only gives away 4 runs in the final over.
Gone? Jofra Archer has kicked the ball onto the stumps with his right boot, and Axar Patel seems to be short.
Back of a length, slower too and outside off, Patel makes room and slaps it straight to Harry Brook at cover. Brook doesn't pick it up cleanly and the batters rush through for a single.
Full and straight, Axar Patel leans on and just looks to nudge it leg side and pinch a single but gets a leading edge back to the bowler.
Axar Patel is in next.
OUT! CAUGHT! The slower ball does the trick again for England. Jofra Archer comes around the wicket and digs in a bumper, angling it in at the batter, but it's bowled slower. Washington Sundar gets inside the line to hook but hits it straight down the throat of Adil Rashid at fine leg. Rashid is well inside the ropes and takes it with ease.
Jofra goes full and fast, but ends up serving a full toss. Sundar backs away and slices it over cover-point for a couple of runs in the deep.
Straight up, but lands safely. On a good length, slower too, holds a bit in the deck. Shreyas Iyer looks to hoick it over wide long on but miscues it badly and the ball lands just beyond the mid off region. Single taken.
Jofra Archer (3-0-16-1) to close out the innings.

What a penultimate over from Curran, only 4 off it. Full and straight, Iyer gets across and whips it behind square leg for a single.
Back of a length, wide outside off, Sundar reaches out and hits it to deep cover for just a single. Just 3 runs off the over so far.
That's perfect from Curran. Sam nails the yorker at the toes, Washington Sundar has both feet inside the crease, getting pegged back and nearly gets nutmegged but the ball crashes into the pads.
Very full again, on the stumps, Iyer drills the low full toss down to long on and calls for two. He will only get a single this time.
That's right in the blockhole. Full and outside off, on the money, Sundar smothers it into the off side, pinching a quick single.
Swing and a miss! A wide, slower one, bowled full and just inside the tramline. Washington Sundar extends the arms to go over covers but misses.
An uncharacteristically expensive outing for Adil Rashid. Sam Curran (3-0-20-0) to bowl the 19th over.

SIX! That's massive, and Shreyas Iyer has really bossed this battle between him and Adil Rashid today. Tossed up, drifted into middle and leg, Iyer dances down the track and hammers it straight down the ground for a biggie. 150 up for India.
FOUR! Streaky but effective. Flatter one outside off, cut away off the outside edge and fine of the short third fielder for a boundary.
SIX! Smaller straight boundaries and Shreyas Iyer gets it over the ropes. Flighted ball on middle, Iyer steps out and lifts it high and over Tom Banton at long off for a maximum.
Rashid gives this one a lot more air, bowling it full and on off. Sundar stays deep and digs it through mid on for one more.
Tossed up, ends up being a full toss on leg. Iyer backs away and mistimes it on the bounce to long off for a single.
Drifted into the pads, slower as well. Iyer gets his hands out in front and pushes it through mid on for a couple of quick runs.
Adil Rashid to bowl out now. 3-0-29-1 so far for the veteran leggie.

Commentary
The end of the line - Right then, this tour of Ireland and England has probably been India's toughest period in T20Is in recent years, and there are plenty of question marks around the team and the changes being made in the personnel and the batting order in every game. England, on the other hand, will look to complete a whitewash, and they have some extra motivation to do so as well. The 5th and final T20I will be played in Southampton on Saturday, July 11. If England win, they will win the series 4-0 and go top of the T20I rankings. If India win, it will be a consolation win, but one that might go a long way in inducing confidence in this bunch of players. The first ball is scheduled to be bowled at 1.30 pm GMT (7 pm IST), but you can join us a lot sooner for the build-up. Cheers!
Player of the Match - England's skipper, Harry Brook, is given the award for his sensational batting display of 79 not out off just 35 balls. Brook says that it feels good to beat a tough side like India 3-0 with one game to go. He further adds that there were a lot of positives and goes on to mention how they read the surface and made use of it, along with the information being sent in from the coaching staff, which was all great. Adds that a few conversations make things a lot easier. On the chance to go Number 1 in the T20I rankings with a win in the final game, he says that it will be cool to have that ranking, but they will take it as just another game. On his own batting, he says that it felt good, and it's about assessing with the coaches, and he felt that hitting down the ground was more useful today. Reckons that they have good depth in the batting, with someone like Rehan Ahmed slotted to bat at number 8.
The captain of India - Shreyas Iyer calls it a disappointing performance and admits 158 was not an ideal total. He says the bowlers were asked to hit the top of the stumps but concedes they fell short in terms of execution. On his own batting, Iyer says he was happy with the way he played, but individual performances count for little if they don't come in a winning cause. Looking at the bigger picture, Shreyas says the team is going through a transition phase, and mistakes are inevitable. He points out that several players are experiencing these conditions for the first time and believes those mistakes will help them better understand how to adapt. Adds that the key is to learn quickly so the team benefits in the long run.
The Presentation ceremony...
English bowlers set up the chase - Earlier in the game, Shreyas Iyer opted to bat first, and that decision was probably made to not pile on the pressure on the batters after what happened in the last game. The Indian top-order was yet again dismantled by Jofra Archer and co, who used the short ball to good effect, but the batters yet again played too many false shots. Iyer was the one who stood tall and struck an unbeaten 80 off 49 balls, without garnering much support from the others. In the end, 158 always seemed like an under-par total.
Listless from India - It has been a tour to forget for newly appointed skipper Shreyas Iyer and his troops. A shock 2-0 defeat against Ireland, and now 3-0 against England, out of which two were serious drubbings. The pacers did start well with the ball, but there never seemed to be an urgency in the field. There were as many as 7 overs in which the bowlers conceded 15 or more runs, which is well over 100 runs in just about 7 overs. The fielding wasn't sharp either, and they need to pick up the pace really soon.
England at their very best - It was the bowlers in the last game, and now the batters have shown no mercy to the opposition by chasing down 159 runs in just 13.5 overs. They did lose Jos Buttler early in what was a shaky start, but Harry Brook counter-attacked, and how! He took down the Indian spinners and didn't spare the pacers either en route to an unbeaten 79 off just 35 balls. Phil Salt also managed to turn a sluggish start into another half-century, and he too remained unbeaten.
Signed, sealed, and delivered - Another one-sided affair to seal the series win for England, and they now lead the five-match series 3-0 with just one more game to go. It's pretty much been Men vs Boys in the last couple of games, and that's a big worry for a team as talented and filled with depth as India.
That's it. England cruise to victory and put the series to bed. Arshdeep hurls it on a back of a length, outside off. Salt stands tall on top of the bounce and punches it wide of cover for a single to complete the chase. England make it 3-0 in the series with a game to go.
Wide! The scores are level with this extra. A bumper, outside off, too high. Salt lets it go.
FOUR! Absolutely thumped. Bowled on a length, angled across the right-hander. Salt shuffles slightly to get closer to the line of the ball and just swings through the line as he belts it to the right of mid off for a boundary.
Nails the yorker at the leg stump. Brook makes room and squeezes it out through covers for a single. Just one big hit away are England now.
SIX! How's that gone for a six? Back of a length, angled well into the batter. Harry Brook hangs on the back foot and keeps backing away during the swing and manages to nail it over long on for a biggie.
In the air... lands safely. Short ball, hammered into the deck, Harry Brook backs away to take it on but miscues it high and over mid off for a couple of runs.

Just a bit fuller and sliding into the pads, Brook gets an inside edge off the pads and to the left of the keeper for another single. A rare over without a boundary for England.
On a good length, nips back in off the deck. Salt lets the ball come on, before dabbing it down in front of covers, pinching an easy single.
Hard length, attacking the top of off. Brook hangs back and swings it away to deep square leg for a run.
A well-directed short ball, right over the front shoulder. Brook looks to pull but is well beaten.
Good length, jammed in towards the pads. Salt stays compact and taps it towards mid on for a single.

FOUR! Things are going England's way, but they have created their own luck today. Banged in short over middle, quicker too. Harry Brook comes down the track to whack it away but gets a top edge that flies over the keeper's head for a boundary.
Bowled on a short of a length, angled in on middle and leg. Brook walks inside the line for the scoop but fails to connect.
Hurls it on a good length, on the off stump. Salt punches it square on the off side for a single.
Just short, and there was a run out chance as well. Krishna pitches it up, on off. Salt tries to get under the ball to go over mid off but fails to get any sort of elevation. Shreyas Iyer dives forward but the ball does not carry. The ball dribbles in front off his body, and Brook tries to sneak in a single, but there isn't any. Iyer picks the ball up and has a shy at the bowling end but misses. Harry had given up and was gone had the throw hit.
Hits the back of a length, on off. Salt takes a couple of steps down the track and tries to play the late dab but misses.
FOUR! FIFTY for Phil Salt, second in a row. Full and angled down leg, Phil Salt tickles it down to fine leg and the ball races away to the fence.

Around the wicket for the final delivery, full and just outside off. Salt opens the bat face and angles it through backward point for a run.
FOUR! Edged away! Pace off from Arshdeep, slightly wide outside off. Salt waits back to cut but gets an outside edge perfectly between the keeper and the short third fielder for a boundary.
Somehow, Brook has managed to get it away. Singh goes back to over the wicket, bowling it full on leg. Brook sets up for the reverse flick but adjusts and laps it down to fine leg for a run.
Another short ball, angled well in from outside off, Brook hops to the leg side and ramps it fine of deep third for another brace.
A slower bumper from around the stumps, dug in well short and outside off. Harry Brook reaches for it and smashes it like a tennis-forehand to the left of deep mid-wicket and picks up two runs.
Good length in the channel, driven on the up and square through the off side for a single.
DRINKS! Time for a breather, much-needed for India, but it seems like the game and the series have all but slipped away from their hands. Harry Brook has played an astonishing and aggressive knock, and the bowlers have had no answers. With just 39 needed off 60 deliveries and 9 wickets in hand, England will look to wrap up things as quickly as possible. Arshdeep Singh returns to the attack.

A bit fuller and on off. Salt plays the square drive to deep point for one.
Good running. Serves it on a good length, on middle and leg. Salt tucks it with soft hands in the vacant square leg region and hustles back for the second run.
On a hard length, on off. Brook makes room to force it through the off side. Miscues it off the inner half to long on. They cross.
Wide! Dug in short, outside off. That is left alone for the keeper to collect. Too high for the umpire's liking.
FOUR! Hammered away! Into the wicket, on middle. This sits up to be hit and Brook climbs all over it as he pulls it powerfully to the right of long on. With this boundary, the 100-run stand comes up between these two batters.
FOUR! Incredible shot. Dube angles it in at the sticks, on a length. Brook gives himself a bit of room and angles the bat face to carve it behind point for a boundary.
Wide! Pace off but this is beyond the tramline on off. Brook lets it go.
On a back of a length, outside off, this is driven through covers for a run.

SIX! Straight as an arrow. That has gone back many a mile. Harry Brook brings up his FIFTY in just 21 balls. The English skipper has displayed ball-striking of the highest order. Flighted up, fuller and on middle. Brook dances down the track and launches it back over the bowler's head for a biggie. The 100 is up for England.
FOUR! Untidy in the field. Full and quick, on off. Brook gets his hands through the ball and cracks the drive past extra cover. Abhishek Sharma covers a lot of ground to his left at long off and dives but ends up parrying the ball into the fence.
Axar responds by dragging his length back, on off. Phil knocks it to long off and gets to the other end.
SIX! All the way. Floated up, a bit wide and on a length. Salt extends his hands into the lofted hit and goes over wide long off for a flat six.
Slower and shorter, on off. Salt dabs it down the deck.

Short and across again, this is hit down to long on for a single. 19 runs off Sundar's first over as England continue to motor along.
FOUR! The perplexed look on Sundar's face tells the story. He does not seem to have any answers at the moment. From around the wicket, fired across the off stump and it is short. Brook stands tall on top of the bounce and punches it through covers for another four.
FOUR! That has rocketed to the fence. Fuller and wider on off. Brook gets the width to work with, and he reaches out before spanking it to the left of cover.
SIX! Put away with disdain. A bit too short by Sundar, on middle. Brook needs no second invitation as he presses back and nails the pull in front of square for a maximum.
FOUR! Hit hard and wide enough. This is pushed through again by Sundar, short and outside off. Brook presses on the back foot and flat bats it down the ground for a boundary.
Short and this keeps straight, outside off. Brook flashes but fails to connect.

Angled in on a length, on middle and leg. Salt works it to long on and crosses over.
A bit fuller, sliding in on middle. Phil taps it back to Patel.
Darted in on middle, on the shorter side. Salt punches it to the right of deep point for a brace.
England have made good use of the fielding restrictions, nearly breaking the back of the chase. India will hope that the spinners come good through the middle overs. With that said, Axar Patel now comes into the attack.

Not in control but safe. A well-directed short ball, around the right shoulder. Brook is rushed on the pull and it is skied off a top edge but luckily for the English skipper, it drops out of reach of the back-tracking Shivam Dube in the deep fine leg region. A couple of runs to end the Powerplay. After 6 overs, England are 62/1, chasing 159.
FOUR! Cheeky! Brook shimmies towards the leg side initially before walking back towards the stumps. Prince goes searching for the yorker but ends up serving a low full toss on middle and leg. Harry gets inside the line and drops to a knee before playing the scoop fine of the man at short fine leg.
Hits the back of a length, on middle. Brook waits on it before tucking it to the left of deep square leg. They take the first run hard and come back for the second.
On a good length, on middle, that is defended solidly off the front foot.
India burn a review. Skidding through, on top of leg. Salt clears the front leg and tries to swing it away on the leg side. The ball sneaks under the willow to hit him on the back thigh. The batters sneak in a leg bye as the ball goes away on the off side. Prince Yadav is interested, and Ishan Kishan can be heard saying that at worst it could be umpire's call. Shreyas Iyer takes the review. No bat involved but on Ball Tracking, the ball is going over the leg pole.
India take the DRS for an LBW call which was turned down by the on-field umpire. The third umpire is called into action and there's no spike on UltraEdge. Ball Tracking shows the wickets as missing. NOT OUT!

FOUR! Driven through the off side, a third straight 15-run over as well. Overpitched delivery outside off, Phil Salt hangs back and smacks it between cover and point for a boundary. 50 up for England.
FOUR! Just over the scrambling keeper. A sharp bumper around off, Phil Salt gets across to pull but is rushed and the ball goes off the gloves and over the keeper, dribbling into the deep third fence.
Half a shout for LBW, but there's an inside edge on it. Fullish length on off, shapes back in, Brook looks to drag it leg side but gets an inside edge onto the pads and the ball goes behind point for a single. Also, Prasidh Krishna has now overstepped, so it is called a No Ball and another Free Hit is incoming.
That's well bowled. Brook is way too early to shuffle past the off stump and Prasidh Krishna just goes full and fast, wide outside the off stump. Brook doesn't even try to reach it in the end.
Pitched fuller and just outside off, Salt stays deep in the crease, looking to heave it leg side but gets an inside edge towards short fine leg for a single.
Krishna bashes the hard length and darts the ball into the batter at 142 clicks. Salt blocks it off.
FOUR! Phil Salt is now galloping on his horse. Short ball, slightly wide outside off, Salt hangs back and slashes hard, using the pace and hitting it over short third for a boundary.

A single to end, but again 15 runs off it. Hard length on the pads, flicked off the legs and down to fine leg for a single.
FOUR! Now, that will give Salt a lot of confidence. On the fuller side of a good length, straighter too. Phil Salt stays leg side of the ball and pummels it to the left of mid on for another boundary.
WIDE! A bit shorter but angled down the leg side. Salt looks to pull but misses.
FOUR! A length ball on off, angling in. Salt looks to block it under the eyes but ends up running it fine off the toe end of the blade and into the deep third fence.
BOWLED'EM! But it won't count! Yadav nails the yorker on leg stump, Salt gets inside the line to whip it behind square leg but is well beaten and the ball smashes into the leg pole.
NO BALL AND FOUR! Yadav changes tactics and Phil Salt manages to get one away. Slower one, full and wide outside off, Salt reaches out and slaps it through covers for a boundary. Also, Prince has overstepped, so a Free Hit to follow now.
Salt is going nowhere, not yet off the mark after 9 balls now. Yadav hits the good length again, bowling it at the stumps, Salt just defends it out.

WIDE! Slower one, pitched full and well wide of the off stump. Left alone by Brook.

Hard-length delivery, on middle and leg, Brook stays put and just dabs it across into the on side.
The English skipper, Harry Brook walks in next.
OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Top comeback from Arshdeep Singh and Jos Buttler starts walking. Similar length to the previous delivery, but in the channel outside off. Buttler is a bit tentative, hanging back and looking for the inswing, but the ball goes straight on. Buttler tries to run it fine but gets nicked behind, and Ishan Kishan gobbles it up with ease.

Good length at the stumps, Buttler comes forward and tucks it past mid-wicket for a run. England are 7/0 after 2 overs, chasing 159.
The English openers don't seem to have quite got their timing right so far. Short of a good length, hitting the deck hard and around off. Buttler jams it down to mid off.
A full ball, fired into the pads, Salt fails to flick it away. The ball thuds off the pads, rolling behind square leg for a leg bye.
First run off the bat for England. Back of a length around off, Buttler walks inside the line, nudging it to the left of short mid-wicket. Washington Sundar is sloppy and lets it through the hands for a single.
Another appeal for LBW, probably sneaking down leg. Good length on middle, slanting it back in. Buttler plays across the line but misses and gets pinged on the front pad.
Prasidh too starts on a fuller length, attacking the stumps. Jos Buttler leans on and drives it straight to mid on.
Playing his first game of the series, Prasidh Krishna will operate from the other end.

A big appeal for LBW, but the umpire says no. The keeper Ishan Kishan seems interested but the stand-in captain, Tilak Varma, opts against the review. Hard length on middle, jags back in whilst staying a tad low. Phil Salt looks to swivel-pull but misses and gets hit high on the pads. The Ball Tracking later shows that the ball would have gone over the stumps.
Singh darts another inswinger at Salt's pads, offering no width at all. Salt gets cramped for room and stabs it across to mid-wicket.
Another full inswinger, this time starting on off and middle. Salt jams it down to mid on.
FOUR LEG BYES! England's chase is underway. Singh's line is too straight to begin with, full and down leg. Phil Salt misses the flick and the ball goes off the pads down to fine leg for four leg byes.
Salt looks to bunt and run, but there's no single there. Good-length delivery, around leg, Salt nudges it in front of short mid-wicket, who is quick to pounce on the ball.
A bit of shape straightaway. Arshdeep Singh pitches the ball full and on middle, getting it to tail back in. Phil Salt flicks it away in front of mid-wicket.

India are 130/5 with just over 3 overs remaining.

Missed out. Curran goes searching for the yorker but ends up serving a knee-high full toss at the sticks. Iyer was perhaps expecting a short ball and was deep in the crease. He gets taken aback by the full toss and half-heartedly hits it through mid-wicket for just a single. Good comeback from Curran after being hit for a four.
Half a shout for LBW. Not given. Iyer shuffled across the stumps, but that seems to have pitched outside the line of the leg stump. Harry Brook still wants to take a chance. Bowled full from over the wicket. Shreyas gets inside the line for the tickle but misses and gets hit on the outside half of the front pad before it goes behind to the keeper. No bat involved but as expected, the ball has pitched outside leg, confirmed by the Ball Tracking. England lose their first review.

A bit quicker, on a length, outside off. Iyer stays leg side of the ball and goes with the spin as he plays inside out over cover. The ball does not have enough legs to reach the fence. The long off fielder gets around and lobs it to the converging fielder to his left. Two runs taken.

Was that a chance? From the front of the hand, short and outside off. Iyer rocks back and goes hard on the cut but misses. Jos Buttler snatches at the ball and it pops out of his grasp. There was no edge, though, confirmed by the UltraEdge.
DRINKS BREAK! England have done well to keep the scoring in check so far. Harry Brook has rotated his bowlers smartly, and they have responded well. Whatever has transpired on this UK tour, particularly the 76 all out in Nottingham, seems to be playing on India's minds. There is a sense of hesitation in the shot-making and a lack of confidence in their approach. That said, this isn't the kind of surface where you can simply hit through the line, and it will be important for Shreyas Iyer and Co. to assess what a good total is on this wicket. Their absence opens the door for Washington Sundar and Prasidh Krishna, who have an opportunity to make their mark in what is a must-win game for India. Harshit was also part of India's squad for the three-match ODI series that follows, and it remains to be seen whether the injury also rules him out of the 50-over leg of the tour.
India (Playing XI) - Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan (WK), Shreyas Iyer (C), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar (In for Varun Chakaravarthy), Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav and Prasidh Krishna (In for Harshit Rana).
England (Playing XI) - Phil Salt, Jos Buttler (WK), Harry Brook (C), Jacob Bethell, Tom Banton, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Josh Tongue and Rehan Ahmed (In for Liam Dawson).
The skipper of England - Harry Brook says that they would have batted first as well. Mentions that it looks like a very good surface with a bit of grass on it, and they will see how it plays. Brook is pleased with the way his side has adapted to the conditions throughout the series and credits their success to a complete team effort. Informs that they have made one change with Rehan Ahmed coming in for Liam Dawson.
The captain of India - Shreyas Iyer says that they will play like it's a knockout game and will look to execute the plans better, and the boys are in high spirits. He adds that you need to stay positive, but that means being tactically correct. Iyer reckons that the pitch looks good and there's a good covering of grass on it, so they'll see how it goes. Ends by informing that they have made a couple of changes due to injuries, and the likes of Washington Sundar and Prasidh Krishna come in.
TOSS - We are all set for the flip of the coin. The coin goes up and comes down in favour of Shreyas Iyer. India elect to BAT first.
PITCH REPORT - Former Indian pacer Varun Aaron is pitchside. He starts by talking about the pitch and reckons that the grass has been rolled in nicely. Feels that the bowlers will try to hit the back of a length. Mentions that the dimensions are interesting, with very large square boundaries and much smaller straight boundaries.
You don't become a bad team after four games - That was Gautam Gambhir's response after India's heavy defeat in Nottingham. The aggressive approach that powered India to the T20 World Cup title has misfired in this series, but the head coach insisted there would be no abandoning the fearless brand of cricket that brought them success. The Shreyas Iyer-led unit is yet to put together a complete performance on this UK tour, and with the series on the line, Bristol is the place to finally deliver one before the caravan rolls on to Southampton. Stay tuned for the toss and team news.
Confidence soaring - Harry Brook's men have looked every bit the team to beat in 2026, winning 11 of their 13 completed T20Is this year. After his Player-of-the-Match performance in Nottingham, Jofra Archer described bowling in England as 'back to normal', suggesting conditions here are far more forgiving for bowlers than in the IPL. That has certainly been the case, with India's batters finding conditions in both Ireland and England anything but easy.
The stage is set - Hello and welcome to Bristol, where one team stands on the brink of history and the other stares at the prospect of an early reality check. A victory would hand England their first bilateral T20I series win over India in a contest comprising two or more matches. For the reigning world champions, another defeat would mean successive T20I series losses for the first time since 2019.
... MATCH DAY ...
Onto Bristol - England head to Bristol with an unassailable 2-0 lead in the five-match series, with one game washed out and two still to play. India can no longer win it, and the best they can now do is win the remaining two games and end the series on level terms. England, for their part, look determined to make sure that doesn't happen and complete a statement series victory. Only way up - That has to be the mindset in the Indian camp. The new era under Shreyas Iyer has hit rock bottom early. India had never lost an international match to Ireland before this tour, but ended up suffering two defeats in three days to be handed a series whitewash. Things then went from bad to worse in Nottingham, where they were skittled out for their second-lowest T20I total and suffered their biggest defeat by runs in the format. Batting blues - The batting has been India's biggest concern. Conditions throughout the UK tour have offered something for the bowlers, and the much-vaunted batting unit has struggled to adapt. Early wickets in the Powerplay have repeatedly left the middle order under pressure, and they have not responded the way the situation has demanded. Despite repeated calls from Shreyas Iyer and head coach Gautam Gambhir to play smart cricket and adapt to the conditions, that message has yet to translate into performances on the field. Lacking the cutting edge - There have been glimpses of promise with the ball, but India have struggled to put together consistent performances. Their time in the field hasn't helped either, with both the catching and ground fielding lacking the sharpness expected at this level. The biggest positive from the shellacking in Nottingham was the promise shown by Prince Yadav. Axar Patel has held his own on this tour, while Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana have shown flashes without quite being consistent enough. Axar, though, has cut a lonely figure in the spin department. Varun Chakaravarthy has conceded runs at 10.28 across the first two T20Is, and the dip in his wicket-taking returns, which began at the T20 World Cup, has continued ever since. Upward curve - While England may still have questions to answer in the Test arena, their T20I side has gone from strength to strength under Harry Brook. They have won 16 of their 19 completed T20Is since he took charge last year. Unlike India, who are still searching for the right balance, England have benefited from continuity and reaped the rewards. Every player knows their role, and that stability has been central to their success. Strength in numbers - England's batting has been built on collective contributions rather than relying on one individual. Different players have stepped up at different times. There is, however, one area of concern. Jos Buttler is still searching for his first T20I half-century since last September. He rediscovered his touch during the IPL after an underwhelming T20 World Cup, and after getting a start in Nottingham, a big score could just be around the corner. A step ahead - England's bowlers have adapted to the conditions far better than India. They have been quick to identify the right lengths to bowl and have factored in the dimensions of the ground accordingly. While it was Will Jacks and Sam Curran who controlled the middle overs in the second T20I, the new-ball pair of Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue blew India away inside the Powerplay in Nottingham. Team form (Last 5 completed T20Is, recent first) - ENG - WWLWW | IND - LLLLW. Beyond the numbers - While the numbers from this season's men's Vitality Blast at Bristol favour the pacers, there wasn't much to separate the seamers and spinners during the recently concluded Women's T20 World Cup at the venue. Ultimately, though, this series has shown that success has come down to adapting quicker than the opposition.

Full-pitched delivery, angled into the stumps, Salt punches it back to the bowler.

A Singh3-1-26-1
