India beat Australia by 6 wickets

Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi

Right then. That's it from the coverage of this match and India have taken an unassailable lead in the series. The Aussies will be ruing an opportunity they missed to win this game and level the series. There are two more Test matches left and we now move to Indore for the third Test match at the Holkar Cricket Stadium. The match is scheduled to begin on Wednesday 1st March and the first ball will be at 9.30 am IST (4 am GMT) but as you all know you can join us early for the build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye!

Ravindra Jadeja wins the PLAYER OF THE MATCH award for his exceptional spin bowling as he claims a 10-wicket match haul and his useful 26 runs in the first innings. He starts by saying that he was enjoying his bowling. He kept attacking the stumps and knew that the batter will stick to sweep or reverse sweep. Mentions their intent was very aggressive as they were looking to get quick runs. Ends by saying that no one can play sweep shots against him, at least on such wickets.

Rohit Sharma the skipper of India says it is a fantastic result for them. Adds that it is remarkable how things were looking at one stage and how they finished their job, especially the bowlers. Claims that even though they were just one run off the Australian score, they were still behind in the game as they had to bat last. Mentions that taking nine wickets in the first session was a fantastic effort and they did well to finish the game with the bat as well. When asked about the Australian's shot selection he says that on a pitch like this, they need to be prepared to do different things, but the opponents were not used to these conditions so it is tough. Admits that they were waiting for the mistakes to happen and they had discussed plans which worked for them. Tells that in every game that is played in this weather, there is some moisture in the wicket so there is a lot to offer in the first session and soon the pitch starts to deteriorate. Goes on to say that they wanted to keep it tight and stay disciplined with the spinners at his disposal masters of this condition. Adds that they know what to do so they needed to stay calm. Ends by saying that when you play Test cricket there are a lot of moments to look back at but the key moments were the partnerships between Virat Kohli and n Ravindra Jadeja as well as Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel as getting a 100-run partnership on this wicket is never easy.

Pat Cummins the captain of Australia is in for a chat. He starts by saying that the guys bounced back really well. Informs that India batted really well and the match was in the balance at the innings break. Mentions that the pressure was on India when they got around 280 or whatever it was in the first innings, but they could not make the most of it. Informs they will work on their shot selection and the approach in the coming matches. Adds that they missed a good chance to come out on top in this match. Also says that you can never let an opportunity slip out of your hands while playing in India.

Time for the presentation...

Cheteshwar Pujara is up for a chat and he says that it has been a great Test match. Adds that it is a really special feeling especially to get the winning runs. He congratulates the guys from Saurashtra for winning the Ranji Trophy. Tells that he thought they might've to chase something around 250 runs and they were well prepared for it. Informs that they were disappointed with the way they leaked runs in the last session on Day 2 but are happy with the way the bowlers turned up. Says that it is better to use your feet on a turning track and that's what he focused on. Mentions that it is difficult in the initial phase when you walk in with the blade, but once you play 30-40 balls it becomes easier to score.

Having bowled Australia all out on Day 1, India did well to go into Stumps unscathed and came into Day 2 looking to be positive but had a dismal first session as they lost 4 wickets for 20 runs with Nathan Lyon wreaking havoc. They soon found themselves seven down with 139 runs on the board and it looked like Australia would come out to bat with a lead of close to 100. Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin defied all odds and added a 114-runs for the eighth wicket which helped India cut down the deficit drastically. Axar Patel scored a match-saving knock of 74 runs in 115 balls with Ravichandran Ashwin supporting him with a well-made 31. Nathan Lyon continued to ply his trade effectively and became the third bowler to take 100 Test wickets against India en route to his five-wicket haul. The other two spinners Matthew Kuhnemann and Todd Murphy claimed two wickets each with the skipper Pat Cummins taking one wicket. India trailed by one run and Australia began their second essay with Travis Head looking to play his shots. Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Usman Khawaja but Marnus Labuschagne combined with Travis Head to add 61 runs in 12 overs.

Australia won the toss once again and opted to bat first which seemed to work wonderfully for them as they started off with a 50-run opening partnership between David Warner and Usman Khawaja. David Warner's poor series continued as he was dismissed by Mohammad Shami and to make matters worse he fractured his arm which ruled him out of the Test match. Since he had taken a blow on his head as well, Matt Renshaw replaced him as a concussion substitute. Ravichandran Ashwin turned the tie slightly in India's favor as he claimed the wickets of Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith in the same over but Usman Khawaja went on to score 81 runs in 125 balls. Several batters got decent starts but could not make the most of it on a difficult pitch and it was the partnership between Peter Handscomb and Pat Cummins that pushed them to a competitive first-inning score with the former remaining unbeaten on 72. Mohammad Shami claimed 4 wickets as he was able to reverse swing the ball with Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin contributing with three each.

The day started with Australia in front of the game as they had a lead of 62 runs and nine wickets in hand to build a formidable target. With India batting in the fourth inning, any target near 200 would have been challenging for the home side to chase down. Travis Head had gotten the visitors off to a flying start but was dismissed in the first over with Ravindra Jadeja finding the outside edge of the bat. Steven Smith joined his favorite batting partner Marnus Labuschagne out in the middle and India would have felt that this partnership could easily take the game away from them. However, Ravichandran Ashwin who has done this numerous times in his career opened the floodgates by dismissing Steven Smith and his partner in crime Ravindra Jadeja sent Marnus Labuschagne packing. Australia collapsed from 85 for the loss of two wickets to being bowled out for 113 having scored 28 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja was the destroyer-in-chief as he claimed 7 wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin chipped in with three crucial wickets. India did have a stumble just before Lunch as KL Rahul was dismissed by Nathan Lyon giving the visitors some hope.

India walked out for the Post-Lunch session requiring 101 runs with nine wickets in hand and Rohit Sharma was in no mood to take his time accumulating the runs out in the middle. He began his onslaught using his feet right from the start and scored 31 in 20 balls before some miscommunication with Cheteshwar Pujara resulted in him getting run out. Virat Kohli came to the wicket looking to be positive but was deceived by Todd Murphy after getting off to a start and was stumped for the first time in his career. Shreyas Iyer came out and played a couple of good shots to not allow the pressure of wickets to get on the team but holed out into the deep off the bowling of Nathan Lyon. Cheteshwar Pujara by then had adopted the anchor role as he secured one end and he was joined by Srikar Bharat who played a few cracking strokes to help India get over the finish line.

INDIA HAVE A 2-0 LEAD IN THE SERIES! They have managed to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and are one step closer to booking their spot for the final of the World Test Championship. This has been an absolute tug-a-war between two competitive sides who love to win and it is the home side that has emerged victorious by 6 wickets in a low-scoring affair. Day 3 has been owned by the bowlers and the moving day of Test cricket moved so fast that the game was completed in two sessions.

Matthew Kuhnemann (5-0-28-0) comes back into the attack.

Srikar Bharat has been sent above Ravindra Jadeja with India turning to him to wrap up this run chase.

Drinks break! Todd Murphy strikes and gets rid of Virat Kohli who was looking to be in good touch. Australia still need 7 wickets to win the match. Keeping in the mind the depth of the Indian batting order, only a miracle can get the Aussies across the line here. Will they be able to force a collapse? Let's find out. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer walks out at number 5 for India. 46 needed to get over the line.

Virat Kohli comes in at number 4.

It will be Nathan Lyon to spin from the other end.

We are back for the second session of what should be the last day of this game. The umpires are out in the middle and the Australian players take their respective positions on the field. Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara will be looking to take India through this tricky period and set up the run chase. Matthew Kuhnemann will begin proceedings after Lunch. Let's go...

... DAY 3, SESSION 2 ...

Chasing a target of 115, KL Rahul was dismissed in an unfortunate manner but Rohit Sharma has batted positively. Cheteshwar Pujara is a nervous starter but you can bank on his experience to navigate the Indian innings on a surface favourable for the spinners. They are 101 runs away at the moment. Do join us at 12.10 pm IST (6.40 am GMT) for the afternoon session.

End of an action-packed morning session! 10 wickets fell in total and it's India on top. Australia were abysmal with their batting approach and got bundled out cheaply by the spin pair of Ashwin and Jadeja who bagged his best bowling figures in an inning of a Test match. This match is travelling with the speed of light and the hosts will be delighted to put themselves in a position to win this game.

Appeal for stumping...

Cheteshwar Pujara walks in next. After getting out for a duck, he will like to first get off the mark in his 100th Test.

Who will bowl from the opposite end? It is Nathan Lyon.

... FOURTH INNINGS ...

The pitch is certainly playing tricks. There is spin and variable bounce. Australia have three good spinners in their ranks and they can put up a fight for sure. That said, had they adopted a pragmatic approach with the bat, they had the chance to pressurize the Indian team. Right now, the target won't bother them much. Still, early wickets will throw the cat among the pigeons. We could have a thrilling end to this Test match. Stay tuned...

Mayhem in the morning session! 9 wickets for 53 runs. Australia were demolished by the spin pair of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. The vulnerability of the Aussies against spin was exposed yet again. Their batters kept attempting the sweep shot and kept perishing. Poor technique and execution. They didn't trust their defense and were seen swinging their bat aimlessly. End result, all the advantage gained was lost and now India are 115 away from winning this Test match.

Matthew Kuhnemann is the number 11 batter.

Todd Murphy is in next.

Who will face the music now? It's Nathan Lyon to deal with the hat-trick delivery.

Drinks break. Australia are staring down the barrel. They were in a good position last evening but failed to drive home the advantage. The Indian spinners have tightened the noose and by picking five wickets this morning, they have forced the touring team on the back foot. Skipper Pat Cummins walks in next.

Alex Carey is the new batter.

Peter Handscomb is the new man at the crease.

Ravichandran Ashwin pulls out once again. Second time this morning. The crowd is behind Ashwin here. They are here to see some historic moment, one that would stay in their memories for a longer time.

Matt Renshaw is the new batter. He's the concussion substitute for David Warner.

Steven Smith has been adjudged lbw. A big moment in this Test match. Smith has a word with Marnus Labuschagne and takes the referral. This one looked out to the naked eye. Let's find out. UltraEdge is taking ages to load. Everyone is waiting. Here it comes... no spike, a bit of daylight. Ball Tracking comes and it shows that the ball is clipping the leg stump, it's the umpire's call and India have two in the morning session already. The crowd is jubilant.

Yet another shout for an lbw. The finger has stayed down. Rohit Sharma comes rushing to his keeper, has a word with him and the bowler. He takes the referral on this occasion. The impact is outside off.

Oh, hello! Ravichandran Ashwin stops in his delivery stride and the crowd gets excited. Ashwin and Mankading - a story in itself. Steven Smith is only left with a grim smile on his face as he stays inside the crease.

Early breakthrough for India. Now, Steven Smith comes out at number 4. Also, it will be Ravindra Jadeja to bowl from the other end.

The morning session of a moving day is set to begin. The Indian players make their way out on the field. Followed by Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne who walk out to continue with their innings. Both the teams will look to get off to a good start here. It will be Ravichandran Ashwin to start the proceedings with the ball.

PITCH REPORT - Sanjay Manjrekar is near the playing area. He starts by saying there are no dramatic changes to the deck on Day 3 from Day 2. Matthew Hayden joins and says that the conditions are a bit cooler and the pitch with black soil has started to deteriorate. He spots big cracks and tells us that he has never seen such big ones before. The Aussie points out the good-length area for a right-arm fast bowler coming around the wicket for a left-hander and opines that could be a concern. Feels that Australia are looking to score quickly because of this very reason.

With no David Warner available after suffering a concussion and a hairline fracture, Travis Head got the opportunity to open the innings and the southpaw has shown a lot of intent despite losing Usman Khawaja early. The morning session today is all about driving the advantage home. Let's see whether Australia extend their upper hand or India manage to claw back. Should be an entertaining morning and day.

The play on Day 2 was all about collapse and recovery. India threw away a decent start by losing wickets in a heap only to recover with a partnership between Kohli and Jadeja. A contentious decision against Virat led to another collapse and then Axar and Ashwin combined to put India on an even keel against Australia with a wonderful century association.

Let's roll! We head into the 'moving day' of the Kotla Test match and against all the odds, Australia find themselves closest to the driver's seat. Day 2 was action-packed, to say the least, and we are expecting more of the same to continue. The touring team has its nose in front but we've seen momentum changing quite quickly in this Test and not one team has managed to keep it on its side for a longer period. We will wait and watch which way the pendulum swings on Day 3. On that note, allow us to welcome you to the coverage. Stay tuned for more...

... DAY 3, SESSION 1 ...

Now Australia will hope these two who have got their eye in put up a good stand, Australia will love a score of above 250 and we can surely see them play with intent on Day 3 as well. India on the other hand, are slightly on the back foot at the moment but we have seen on this wicket a collapse can always be around the corner and Rohit will hope that is the case. A very exciting Day 3 awaits. Do join us at 0930 IST (0400 GMT). The build up begins a lot earlier. Till then, take care and goodbye!

Earlier in the day, Australia had India on the back foot when Lyon ran through the top order. India were around 140 for 7 but Axar Patel came to the rescue along with Ashwin and the two ensured Australia get the smallest of leads. In reply, with a lead of one, Australia have begun well.

Australia will be very pleased with the 12 overs they faced at the end of Day 2! Yes, they lost Khawaja early but then Head and Marnus Labuschagne played really well. Especially the former who took the attack to the bowlers. and Australia are in a reall good position at the moment. For India, Jadeja got the only breakthrough but Shami and Ashwin were not at their best, especially the latter, he was a little too full in this session and Rohit will be disappointed more with the rate Australia scored at.

India have wrestled back the momentum. Australia are 96 runs ahead with 6 wickets in hand.

OUT! LBW! Ravichandran Ashwin and company make a loud appeal for lbw, they think that they have got their man here. The umpire thinks the same and raises his dreaded finger. Steven Smith though has a chat with his partner and takes the review. Coming to the delivery - It is tossed up, full and around off. The ball stays low off the deck and spins in as well. Smith gets low and tries to sweep it away but does not get any bat on the ball. The ball goes through to ping him on the pads. DRS time. The UltraEdge shows no bat is involved. The Ball Tracking later confirms that it is the umpire's call on the ball hitting the wickets. Australia do not lose a review here but they lose Smith cheaply.

Angled into the pads, this is worked through mid-wicket for one. Usman Khawaja and Australia are underway!

The Indian top order just did not get going, Kohli and Rohit got off to starts but none went onto make it into something significant. Had it not been for Axar and Ashwin, India would have conceded a big lead to the Aussies. Now this game has become a one-innings shoutout. There are still around overs to go and India will hope they can get a couple at least. Australia on the other hand, will hope they can get through this passage without a lot of damage. An important phase follows.

Before that, it was the Nathan Lyon show on Day 2. He ran through the Indian top order. He was well supported by Todd Murphy and Matthew Kuhnemann. However, they had no answers to the counter-attack by Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin but the second new ball worked really well for them. They have got a lead but it is of just the one run.

So, Australia just manage the lead of 1 run! That is an excellent recovery from the Indians. Australia on the other hand, will be very disappointed. Let me remind you, India were 7 down for 139 but then came a brilliant stand between Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin! The two added over 100 and took India close to Australia's score. Axar Patel was the mainstay and Ashwin played second fiddle. In the end, that stand has changed the look of the game completely.

The second new ball has been taken!

We are back for the final session. 37 overs to go! Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin will resume their innings. The trail is still 84. Todd Murphy to begin.

... DAY 2, SESSION 3 ...

Another good session for the Aussies but India fought back well at the end of it courtesy Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin! The session began with Jadeja and Kohli looking to get India back on safer shores but the former fell. The latter then followed and Srikar Bharat also did not last for long in the middle. Yet again it was the Aussie spinners who weaved their magic. Nathan Lyon got Srikar Bharat to get his fifer. India were in a lot of trouble with the trail being over 100 and the hosts were 7 down. Axar Patel though has come out all guns blazing and has scored quickly to put a little bit of pressure back on Australia and Ashwin has given him able support. The two need to continue the good work though. Australia on the other hand, will know one wicket and they'll be into the tail. They would be aiming for a lead of over 50. Can they get it?

Time for the action to resume! The players make their way out to the middle. Jadeja and Kohli will resume their innings. Nathan Lyon to continue.

... DAY 2, SESSION 2 ...

That is a top session for the Aussies and one can say, they are on top in this game at the moment. They have bagged four wickets and not let India score freely too. However, it was India who began the day on the brighter note as Rahul and Rohit seemed at ease but after the introduction of Lyon, things changed, he has all four of the wickets and is looking really threatening. Jadeja and Kohli have started off well and are fighting back but the two need to continue as INdia are still 175 runs behind. Australia on the other hand, need to continue to be patient and disciplined with their lines and lengths. The second session could be a vital one, do join us in a bit.

CHANGE! Todd Murphy comes on now.

DRINKS! Those two wickets by Lyon has got the Aussies back into the game. Before that, the Indian openers were going along really well but Lyon is amidst a really good spell. He could have easily had three had the review been taken against Pujara. India now need a partnership but the wicket is getting tougher to bat on. Interesting phase coming up.

We are all set to begin! The Indian openers, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma walk out and so do the Aussie players. Spin to begin with as it is Matthew Kuhnemann!

UPDATE - Australia have a concussion substitue, David Warner who took a few blows on the head while batting has been ruled out of the Test with concussion and it is Matt Renshaw who replaces him.

The Aussies on the other hand, need to strike at regular intervals. There were encouraging sings fir their bowlers in the last session but can they make use of the assistance? Can the Australian bowlers do what the Indians did? The first session is an important one, we will find out...

India continue to dominate in this Test series. Yet again their spinners came to the fore and bowled Austtalia out for an average score and their openers got through the nervy period unscathed. Now the Indians will yet again look to bat long and post a big total.

... DAY 2, SESSION 1 ...

Right then! That concludes Day 1! Day 2 promises to be exciting. Join us back for Day 2 at 0930 IST (0400 GMT) and earlier for the build up. Cheers!

Usman Khawaja is up for a chat. He says the pitch is challenging and it is tough to bat. Adds the game plan is the same, he just tried to bat a bit longer. Applauds the performance of Peter Handscomb for the way he played. He says the wicket slightly suits the right-hander. Hopes the pitch does help them on Day 2.

The spinners took 6 wickets but the seamers extracted more, Shami particularly. He didn't start well but was bang on as he proceeded. India could have kept Australia a bit low but got a bit tired. Still, they have done a commendable job. Too early to call, both teams have done a good job on Day 1. Mohammad Shami claimed 4 wickets while Ashwin-Jadeja ended with 6 together.

Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. They off to a watchful start with Usman Khawaja playing a big role. He played a brilliant innings but got no support from other end. Once Peter Handscomb joined, he took on the baton and he played a wonderful innings to keep the innings on track. There was a handful innings from the skipper as well. All in all, Australia manage to get past 250 which is a really good score on this pitch knowing how it was behaving.

A good day of cricket! a good start to the game! Both teams will be happy with how Day 1 went. India will be happy that they end the day without losing any wickets. It is all even as we conclude Day 1.

OUT! TAKEN! That is a really good catch and that ends the stand which was quite frustrating for the Aussies. A really good knock from Ashwin, one would feel he has done his job. The second new ball does its trick. On the pads, this is flicked uppishly towards mid-wicket. Matt Renshaw makes good use of his reach, dives to his right, stretches both his long hands and takes it nicely. India still behind by 10 runs. Just the two wickets more left.

Everything happening here! Australia now take another review as an appeal for an LBW is turned down. The question is, is it pad first or bat first? If it is pad first, it could be a good review. Here we go... ULTRA EDGE CONFIRMS IT IS PAD FIRST! OUT! BALL TRACKER SHOWS THREE REDS! Nathan Lyon is on fire and Cheteshwar Pujara falls for a duck on his 100th Test. All of a sudden, India are three down. This is tossed up on middle, it lands and turns back in. Pujara looks to defend but does so outside the line. It hits both bat and pad. ...SECOND INNINGS...

Now then, Around 10 overs remaining. India will hope to end the day without losing any wickets. The openers need to give a good start. Australia on the other hand have their skipper as the only seamer. The others need to support him.

India were superb with the ball as well. This pitch has more turn than we saw at Nagpur. The start wasn't that good but they had their moments. Shami started the attack and then Ashwin got two wickets of Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith in one over. There was a period where the bowlers looked tired but Shami once again came up with his magic and ended with four wickets. While Ashwin-Jadeja ended with 6 together.

Not quite sure who will be the happier side right now. Of course, Australia would have hoped for more runs but from around 168 for 6, they will take this score. Credit to Handscomb for the way he played. He looked so composed out there. It was very easy for him to bat on while others struggled. His stand with his skipper was very crucial but in the end, Handscomb ran out of partners. Australia were off to a watchful start with Usman Khawaja playing a big role. He scored a brilliant 81 and kept the engine moving while wickets were falling at the other end.

Ohh dear! Cricket is a cruel game for Jadeja. It has happened again with him. We have seen this happen at Nagpur as well. A wicket but a front foot no ball is called.

...Day 1, Session 3...

India will take this score as well. Apart from a couple of innings, they are doing well to take wickets at regular intervals. KL Rahul took a stunner to dismiss Khawaja and then India did well to build around it. Now, the final session is coming up. India will look to bundle out Australia under 250 while the tourists will hope this stand flourish more.

A good session for both teams. However, the stand between Peter Handscomb and Pat Cummins has helped Australia to calm things down once again. Australia started the session with Usman Khawaja and Travis Head but the later fell quickly. However, Khawaja and Handscomb played out a superb stand to help get back on track. Khawaja fell after playing a fine innings. Later, there was a flurry of wickets but Cummins has soaked all the pressure.

We are back. Mohammed Siraj to start this session. Head and Khawaja to resume their batting.

...Day 1, Session 2...

Australia might have scored bulk of runs but India have the momentum lately. The way Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bowled the last few overs, it got really interesting for a while. Before that, Shami was struggling but his second spell was superb and got a wicket as well. Siraj was disciplined as well. The approach by the batters to tackle the spin duo was to unsettle them but Ashwin brought his experience to get rid of the Aussies' wall. A fantastic start to the game. More even than we saw at Nagpur. Let's see how the next session pans out.

A brilliant start to the second match. Australia have scored runs at a good rate but losing Smith and Marnus Labuschagne has worried them a bit. It was a good toss to win at first. Warner and Khawaja were watchful. Khawaja importantly brought all the runs and composure while Warner was struggling. He fell and then Marnus Labuschagne showed some intent but not for long as he and Smith fell in the same over. Travis Head is known to play with a different kind of approach so it will be interesting to see who he bats while Khawaja we feel will play the anchor role throughout.

Ravindra Jadeja is into the attack.

Marnus Labuschagne walks out.

Drinks! First hour gone by and Australia will be happy at this point. No wickets lost, Khawaja looks in control, and Warner is watchful as well. A good start by tourists. India will look for more accuracy. Siraj troubled the batters but need more from the other side.

It has taken more time than expected. David Warner looks in serious pain. A bit of taping is done by the physio.

Ravichandran Ashwin to bowl now.

We are all set for the action. The Indian players are out in the middle. Gautam Gambhir, the local boy rings the bell at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. David Warner and Usman Khawaja to open for Australia. Mohammad Shami to start with the ball. Here we go...

The great, Sunil Gavaskar presents a special cap to Cheteshwar Pujara who is all set to play his 100th Test match. The entire Indian team along with Pujara's family is present on the ground.

INDIA (Playing XI) - Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (In for Suryakumar Yadav), Srikar Bharat (WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj.

AUSTRALIA (Playing XI) - David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head (In for Matt Renshaw), Peter Handscomb, Alex Carey (WK), Pat Cummins (C), Todd Murphy, Nathan Lyon, Matthew Kuhnemann (ON HIS DEBUT) (In for Scott Boland).

Rohit Sharma says batting first would have been ideal but they lost the last toss and played really well after that. Adds they want to play good cricket and not worry much. Shares it a great occasion as Cheteshwar Pujara is all set to play his 100th Test match. Informs Shreyas Iyer comes in for Suryakumar Yadav.

Pat Cummins says they will bat first. Adds there is an even covering of grass. Reckons they need to bounce back and have been some good preparations as they look forward to this match. Informs Matthew Kuhnemann and Travis Head come in the playing XI.

TOSS - Australia have won the toss and will BAT first!

Just In - Matthew Kuhnemann is all set to make his debut as he receives his Baggy Green from Marnus Labuschagne.

PITCH REPORT - Sanjay Manjrekar says it is much better pitch than the first match. Adds there is an even covering of grass and it might change its nature as we reach further into the match. Matthew Hayden says there are big open areas and cracks for the spinners. Reckons it is a dry wicket and feels seamers will enjoy more in the start.

India on the other hand completely dominated the game but they will expect opposition to come much harder this time. They don't need to tweak much but as it looks like, Iyer might take his place back in the middle order. Interestingly neither team has released their XI unlike every other match. So, stay tuned for toss and other updates.

After a small pause, we welcome back you to the second Test between India and Australia. It was hard for the Aussies to stamp an authority in the first match. They looked completely overshadowed and clueless against the spin web of India. No doubt they were finding it hard and especially their batters but they will hope for much better performance in this second match. The pitch has again been the talking point and let’s see what Delhi has to offer.

OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith in one over. Incredible from Ashwin. What an over and all the hard work throughout the session is getting undone! Smith goes for zero! A rare zero. Ashwin bowls a slower delivery, full and angling across the batter. Smith probably was in two minds, to play or to leave. He does the former half-heartedly. Gets an outside edge and Srikar Bharat takes a low catch behind the stumps.

Full and on off, Smith skips down to defend.

OUT! LBW! This looks close! An appeal for LBW but not given. Rohit runs to Ashwin and eventually takes the review. NO BAT. Ball Tracking shows THREE REDS and Labuschagne HAS TO GO. Excellent stuff from Ashwin. Labuschagne was not letting him to settle but Ashwin comes with a superb delivery. A off-spinners special. This one lands outside off and turns in on the fuller side. Labuschagne prods to defend but gets beaten on the outside edge.
