Commentary

That's it from this game. On the final day of this month, Australia will take on Ireland at 1.30 pm IST (8 am GMT). Join us for the build up. Cheers!

Temba Bavuma, the captain of South Africa says they wanted them to bat with intent after the break and that was the talk and things did go their way and it changed the momentum. Adds except for him, everyone is in good form. Adds they have seen games here and had decided what to bowl here and they backed their execution and it came off for them. Ends by saying it is important to keep improving and that is exactly what they are doing.

Rohit Sharma, the skipper of India says 130 was not going to be an easy target but David Miller and Aiden Markram played really well. Admits they were not at their best in the field. Mentions they thrive on their fielding but it was not at their best, they now need to keep their heads high and learn from this game. End by saying Miller was brilliant.

Lungi Ngidi, MAN OF THE MATCH, says it's nerve-wrecking when the game goes so close but happy with the win. Adds it is a dream to help his country and tells he will cherish this moment. Reckons he watched a lot of matches here and he figured out how to bowl then. Tells that after the halfway mark, the game shifted their way.

... PRESENTATION TIME ...

Earlier in the day, after electing to bat, India were in all sorts of trouble as they were five down in no time. Suryakumar Yadav played a brilliant knock to take his side to a decent total on a wicket which was not easy to bat on. South Africa too found it difficult against the new ball. Markram and Miller took their time, conditions eased off and as the game went ahead, they cashed in and took their side over the line.

India were brilliant with the new ball! The likes of Arshdeep, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami bowled brilliantly first up. They had pushed South Africa completely on the back foot but the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Hardik Pandya were not upto the mark. They leaked far too many runs. More than the bowling, it was the Indian fielding which was very disappointing. They missed a lot of chances which they should have taken and in the end, the chances which were not taken cost them.

That is a strong, strong, win for South Africa! They move to the top of the table. A brilliant knock from David Miller, he has taken his side home in the very last over. An outstanding effort from him. South Africa were in deep trouble after the first half of this innings. They lost three in no time earlier on. Miller and Markram then steadied the ship but the task was still a stiff one. They needed over 9 per over heading into the last 10 and after the break, they stepped on the gas. Markram took the attack to the bowlers and Miller was happy to play second fiddle. They managed to find boundaries and the partnership between the two flourished. They added over 70 in no time and took their side to the brink of victory. It came a lot closer than they would have liked as they lost Markram and Stubbs in quick succession but Miller kept his cool and took his side over the line.

Commentary

We are back for the chase. The players are out in the middle. Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock to open for them. Bhuvneshwar Kumar to test with the ball first. Here we go...

...THE CHASE...

Yes, the wicket is not easy to bat on, yes, there is extra bounce and some pace in the surface but there are runs on offer and we feel India are quite under par. They need early wickets and will have to make great use of the new ball. Can they do so? We will find out. South Africa on the other hand, will hope they can get off to a good start and take the pressure off this chase. Stay tuned for the second half.

For India, this innings was about one man, Suryakumar Yadav, he scored more than half the runs for his side. There were wickets falling at the other end but he held fort at one and batted beautifully. On this wicket, he also managed to score at a good pace and India have to thank him that they have something to bowl at.

Lungi Ngidi, the star with the ball, is up for a chat. He says against a team like India, it was important to restrict them to a low total. Adds there is extra bounce on this deck. Reckons they just tried to keep the line straight and cramp the batters for the room. Hopes they can chase this down.

That was a brilliant bowling performance from South Africa! We always knew their pace attack, on this wicket is going to be too hot to handle and that was some hostile stuff. Ngidi was the wrecker-in-chief as he got the top three. Nortje continued the good work in the middle overs and the two were well supported by Rabada and Parnell. The momentum did shift in the middle overs when Maharaj was bowling but the pacers did really well to comeback strongly towards the end. The key was wickets at regular intervals for South Africa and that was always kept them on the front foot.

DRINKS! A stiff task awaits for South Africa ahead! They need over 9 per over in the last 10 and that is not easy on this wicket. They do have the players to get the requiered runs but someone will have to play a blinder of a knock. India on the other hand, will know a couple of more wickets and the game should be in their pocket. However, they will very well know too if these to continue to play, South Africa will have a strong chance. An interesting phase awaits.

It's almost time. The players from both teams walk out for their respective national anthems. It will be South Africa's first followed by India's. We are done with all the pre-match formalities. It's time for action. The players are out in the middle. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul to open for India. Wayne Parnell to start with the ball. A slip in place. Let's go...

Suryakumar Yadav says he is backing himself from the start and he has plans to play at Perth. Adds they know the conditions and he is looking forward to the game. Reckons they have to start from zero in every game. Tells quick wickets and bounce helps but he tries to enjoy his game.

SOUTH AFRICA (Playing XI) - Temba Bavuma (C), Quinton de Kock (WK), Rilee Rossouw, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Wayne Parnell, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi (In for Tabraiz Shamsi).

INDIA (Playing XI) - KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma (C), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda (In for Axar Patel), Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami, Arshdeep Singh.

Temba Bavuma, the captain of South Africa says it is a big game, they have had a good start, it is a good test in this game but they are confident. Adds they would have batted first too, it might swing later on but now they need to get early wickets and they have the pace attack to exploit the conditions. Informs they have one change, Lungi Ngidi comes in for Tabraiz Shamsi.

Rohit Sharma, the skipper of India says it seems a good surface and they know what they need to do on this wicket. States they are well prepared, it is about getting used to the bounce here and for the seamers it is about hitting the length consistently. Adds it is an important game, nothing changes and they just want to come out and do well here, stay calm and execute the plans well. Informs they have one change. Deepak Hooda comes in for Axar Patel.

TOSS - INDIA have won the toss and they will BAT first!

This is a must-win game for both teams. Although they are in good position, no one wants to create a hurdle for themselves right now. Both teams have been in superb form lately and a win can somewhat help them unlock the door for the semis. South Africa are a point behind India and the other teams in the group will hope the points tally doesn't change for the Proteas much as it gives the other team in contention, a slight hope and a place to fight. Toss and team news coming up.

It’s time for the final match of the Super Sunday and the clash sees India take on South Africa. The former are the only team who are yet to drop points while the latter too are coming on a back of a big win against Bangladesh. These two are favourites from this group to proceed further but a lose here could hamper their chances a bit, especially South Africa.
