Ireland's finest hour - Ireland have done something extraordinary tonight, and this just might be the watershed moment for cricket on the Emerald Isle. Lorcan Tucker collects the series trophy and makes his way to his teammates, who are eagerly waiting for their captain to pose for the photographs. What a start it has been to his journey leading this side. Agony for India and a lot to reflect upon as they start the Shreyas Iyer era on a stinging note. Ireland return to action on 5th August, 2026, when they host Afghanistan for the first of five ODIs. India, meanwhile, have little time to lick their wounds, with their five-match T20I series against England kicking off on Wednesday, 1st July, 2026 in Chester-le-Street, followed by a three-match ODI series on the same tour. That wraps a short and sweet, but a historic 2-match T20I series. But there's plenty of cricketing action going elsewhere, with the Crowe-Thorpe Trophy and the one-off Test between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, and of course, the Women's T20 World Cup, which reaches its final week. You can switch the tabs and follow all the updates from there. Hope you enjoyed the coverage. It's goodbye from here. Cheers!

The captain of Ireland - Lorcan Tucker says it is hard to believe that they have managed to pull off another famous win. He feels the team has once again shown the cricketing world what they are capable of. Mentions that his side turned up with the same intent and professionalism. Feels that the players kept things simple, and he believes that was the key to their success, saying good cricket can often be simple cricket. He also praises the young players in the side, saying several of them have very little international experience but showed tremendous character. Tucker says that Ireland are fortunate to get opportunities to play against a team like India and believes it is a great time to be a professional cricketer in Ireland.

The Indian captain - Shreyas Iyer is blunt, admitting it has not been a great series for India. But he is generous in defeat, giving full credit to Ireland and calling the way they played impressive. He says Ireland showed real professionalism throughout and had a tremendous read of how the pitch would play. He signs off with a simple congratulations to the hosts. On being asked about what went wrong, Iyer praises the bowlers for their execution but puts his hand up on behalf of the batting unit, saying they fell short in reading how the pitch would play. He feels they should have focused more on converting ones into twos and working the ball around rather than looking for the big shot. He calls it a tough series but says India will take their learnings from it. On Prince Yadav, he speaks positively, pointing to his IPL experience and saying he comes in with a clear set of ideas and plans when he bowls. He says the attitude and approach have been impressive. On Suryansh Shedge, he admits it was not a great outing on debut, but is confident he will grow from the experience.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - For his figures of 3/32 in 4 overs, Jai Moondra wins the award. Moondra is also the PLAYER OF THE SERIES for 5 wickets in 2 games. He says this feeling has not sunk in and admits it is hard to put into words. He adds that his focus has always been on getting the basics right and doing them consistently for longer periods. He acknowledges that tough phases are inevitable in the game, but believes the key is to stay patient and ride them out because everyone goes through ups and downs. Speaking about settling into the Ireland setup, he says the dressing room made him feel like one of their own from day one.

... Time for the post-match Presentation ...

Tector fights, India hit back - Ireland showed real character to recover from 58/3 at the halfway mark, with Harry Tector holding the innings together and Ben Calitz injecting some much-needed momentum with a brisk 23-ball 37. The pair threatened to push Ireland beyond 170 before Dube struck twice in two balls to halt the charge. Tector's well-made fifty on his 100th T20I outing helped Ireland finish in the north of 150, but that looked a few runs short at the halfway mark. India were much improved in the field, with debutant Prince Yadav the standout, mixing hard lengths with sharp yorkers to finish with 3/22. Dube and Arshdeep chipped in with two apiece.

Respect the conditions - That was the lesson India's batters simply refused to learn. This was not a pitch where you could go hell for leather and expect to get away with it, and the top order paid a heavy price for ignoring that. The surface was on the slower side and rewarded proper technique and smart shot selection above all else. Tilak Varma was the one Indian batter who grasped that, staying patient and keeping things ticking. But Axar, reprieved on 11, could not make it count and was soon on his way back. Dube brought urgency and intent and did drag India back into it briefly, but it was not enough, as he was dismissed at the wrong time. But with Tilak still out there and fighting his way to a hard-earned fifty, India still fancied their chances. Matt Hollard had other ideas, stepping up to dismiss him and turning the game on its head in an instant. Harshit Rana swung hard and made a late fist of it, but the drama of the final over told the story. 8 needed off the last 2 balls, and when Harshit holed out, it was all over.

A slippery start - Once again, India's batting spine was dismantled inside the Powerplay. Samson played one across the line, Abhishek recklessly swung and mistimed it, Iyer chopped one back onto his own stumps, and to rub salt into the wounds, Kishan was run out at the bowler's end. All of a sudden, India were tottering at 35/4 with a target of 155, suddenly feeling like a lot more.

Shellshocked defending champions - No one, absolutely no one in that Indian camp would have expected this humbling series defeat. For a team that had never lost a T20I bilateral series since 2023, this is a sobering reality check. India did not just lose, they got outplayed in every department across both games, exposing a top order that crumbled under pressure and a bowling unit that could not get the job done clinically. The dressing room will be a quiet place tonight, and the conversations that follow will need to be honest ones.

Ireland's historic three days - What a three days it has been for Irish cricket. On Friday, the men got the ball rolling with a maiden victory over India, winning by 34 runs and sending the country into a frenzy. On Saturday, the women joined the party, beating West Indies by six wickets to record their first ever T20 World Cup win. And come Sunday, the men finished the job, winning by one run in a heart-stopping finish to seal their first-ever series win over India. Three days, three historic moments. Ireland will never forget this weekend.

The Shamrock blooms bright - Absolute scenes at Stormont, and this will go down as one of the best, or dare we say, the best cricketing moments in the history of Irish cricket. From Dublin to Galway to the ancient streets of Waterford, a new chapter has just been written, and this will be remembered for a long, long time to come. Ireland have clean swept India. Correction. Ireland have clean swept three-time T20 World Cup champions India. The Irish players lap the ground, drinking in every cheer from their fans, and what a story this has been. A nation that has spent years knocking on the door of the big stage, tonight, they kicked it clean off its hinges. Belfast has witnessed something truly special, and every single person inside Stormont will carry this night with them for a very long time.

SIX! Prince Yadav clears the ropes, but it will not matter. The celebrations start for Ireland as they have taken down the world champions twice in 3 days. Ireland inflict a 2-0 clean sweep over India. Nearly a yorker by Harry, on middle. Prince collapses his back knee and gets under the ball. Thumps it back over the bowler's head for a flat six.

Ireland are on the verge now. Prince Yadav is the last man in for India.

19.5W

OUT! CAUGHT! The Tector brothers combine to land the final nail in the coffin. Harshit Rana will be mighty disappointed having missed out on putting this away. Tector goes searching for the yorker but ends up serving a full toss, across off. Rana swings to go down the ground but does not get hold of it. Holes out to long on, where Tim Tector makes no mistake. 8 needed off the final ball, and all Harry Tector needs to do is bowl a legal ball now.

Anxious momentṣ. Tucker again walks up to his bowler to have a chat before going back to his position. Can Rana finish it off for India? 8 needed off 2 balls.

19.41

Shorter and on middle. Arshdeep stays back and whips it through mid-wicket for a single. 8 required off 2 balls.

19.41wd

Wide! Pushed down leg, on a length. Arshdeep misses out on the tickle. Lorcan Tucker moves to his right to gather the ball before whipping the bails off. Nothing more than a polite enquiry, but the umpires want to be sure. The third umpire is called into action. The replays find Arshdeep to be safe with his back leg grounded inside the crease at the time the bails came off.

Good execution from Tector. He has managed to get Harshit off strike with India needing 10 runs off 3 balls. Tucker and Tector have a word, and from the other end, Harshit calls Arshdeep over for a quick chat too. Plenty of minds at work in these final moments.

19.31

Very full, almost in the blockhole, on off. Rana powers the drive to long on and takes a single. 10 required off 3.

19.24

FOUR! Not where Rana intended it to go, but he won't mind one bit. Tector gets the execution right in terms of the yorker, around off. Rana hangs deep and swings hard at it. The ball takes the inside edge and goes through the legs of the keeper. The short third fielder gives chase but in vain. 11 needed off 4.

Tector is under pressure now as that just went entirely wrong for him. Lorcan Tucker walks towards him to have a bit of a chat to calm him down. Good to resume. 15 needed off 5 balls.

19.23nb

NO BALL! Oh, dear! Harry Tector gets it all wrong. Tector tries to fire it across the right-hander from around the wicket but ends up serving a chest-high full toss. Rana does well to drag it away wide of deep mid-wicket and comes back for the second run. Free Hit coming up.

19.11

Shorter, on the off stump. Arshdeep swipes it away to deep square leg for one. 18 needed off 5.

19.11wd

Wide! Fires in a wide yorker but he flirts with the tramline. Singh flashes but fails to connect. The ball parries away down the strip off the keeper's gloves. Arshdeep wants to sneak in a run but he is sent back.

It is going down to the wire. India need 20 runs from 6 balls. But it will be Arshdeep on the strike. And it will be Harry Tector (3-0-23-0) to bowl the final over.

Surprisingly, they have taken the single on the last ball. Moondra spots Arshdeep backing away and he bowls it outside the hitting arc. Singh bunts it wide of extra cover for one.

18.51b

A bye sneaked in. Rolls his fingers over the ball, on a back of a length, on middle. Rana looks to turn it away on the leg side but is beaten on the inside edge. The ball bounces in front of the keeper, Lorcan Tucker, who gets his body behind the ball. It deflects away to his left and the batters cross over.

18.46

SIX! That has gone back a long way. The equation comes down to 22 needed off 8. Moondra bangs it into the wicket, but the height does not trouble the batter. It comes just above the waist, around off. Rana presses back and flat bats it over long on for an 89-metre hit.

18.34

FOUR! Powered away. A bit fuller and Moondra offers width. Harshit hangs back, extends his hands and slams it past extra cover for a boundary.

18.21

On the off stump, on a back of a length. Arshdeep backs away and swings it down to long on for one.

Commentary

Welcome back for India's reply. The two umpires and the Irish players have made their way out to the middle. Out walk the two Indian openers, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson. Jai Moondra will take the new ball. Samson will take strike. Moondra dismissed Samson with his first ball in the last game. Here we go...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Will 154 be enough? Ireland will hope to replicate the blueprint from the previous game by forcing India's batters to hit square of the wicket. India, meanwhile, will be eager for a strong start to settle any early nerves in the chase of 155 on a used surface. Only twice in T20Is at Belfast has a target in excess of 150 been successfully chased. Will India become just the third side to do so today? We shall find out soon.

Ireland's charge fizzled out - Then came the 11th over, which went for 22 runs, raising hopes of another momentum shift for Ireland, much like the two overs that yielded 46 runs in the previous game. This time, however, India responded brilliantly, pulling things back immediately and never allowing Ireland to build on that surge. Ben Calitz was the dominant partner in the 65-run stand with Harry Tector, but his dismissal came at a time when Ireland would have wanted to put their foot down. Playing his 100th T20I, Tector carried on to anchor the innings, but with George Dockrell unable to bat through till the end, the home side could not finish the innings in the manner they would have liked.

A good finish from India - A disciplined bowling performance overall to restrict Ireland to 154. The hosts also could not get the finish they were looking for with just 12 runs coming off the final 2 overs. T20 cricket is all about momentum, and Ireland's innings certainly rode the ebbs and flows of it. For the first 10 overs, India kept things under control. Their pacers made a conscious effort to force the Irish batters to hit square of the wicket, a challenging proposition on a surface that has stayed on the slower side.

OUT! HIGH UP AND TAKEN! Fabulous stuff from Prince Yadav. He finishes off with a three-wicket haul on his T20I debut. Ireland finish on 154/8. An off-pace delivery, full on the stumps. McCarthy clears his front leg and looks to slog across the line but is early into the swing, spooning a top edge that hangs in the air for quite a while. Kishan is on the move instantly, charging forward and taking it comfortably while keeping his wits about him to dodge the stumps at the striker's end. Just 5 runs from the final over.

19.51

Goes for the yorker, but ends up tossing a low full toss, Jai hits it towards extra cover and they cross.

Jai Moondra walks out to bat.

19.4W

OUT! Straight up the chimney and gone! Second wicket for Prince. And his debut just keeps getting better and better as he has bowled a fantastic final over as well. Hits the hard length, on top of the stumps. Harry Tector has a wild hoick across the line and ends up getting a massive top edge towards the leg side, near the pitch. Ishan Kishan calls for the catch. He runs across but has to put in a late dive to secure the ball in his mitts. A fine knock in the end by Harry. Ireland are 153/7, 2 balls left.

19.41wd

WIDE! Way too short and it flies above the head. Harry goes for the pull, but it is too high and he misses. Wide called for height.

19.32

Another excellent yorker on the stumps, tailing in. Harry Tector smashes it away to widish long on and they sprint back for the second. Tilak Varma releases the throw from the deep, but Harry Tector puts in a dive at the bowling end to get home.

19.20

India lose a review! A yorker, curves in late on the pads. Harry Tector fails to dig that out and the ball rolls off the front pad near the pitch. Liam McCarthy has almost run the whole length of the pitch, but gets sent back by Harry. There's an appeal for LBW but the umpire is unmoved. India have eventually gone upstairs for a review. Fair delivery to begin with. UltraEdge shows no bat involved. It is pitching in line, the impact is umpire's call and the ball is projected to miss the leg stump. The on-field decision is upheld.

19.11

Length ball, on the stumps. Liam chops it off the inside edge and the ball rolls past the stumps to the leg side. They cross. 150 up for Ireland.

Prince Yadav (3-0-17-1) to close out the innings.

FOUR! Expertly played and that's FIFTY FOR HARRY TECTOR in his 100th T20I! His 9th T20I fifty and he gets there in 44 balls. Started on a scratchy note, but he has made sure that he bats through and just has got his timing right now. Back of a length, around the off stump. Harry Tector swings hard and pierces the short third and backward point gap for a boundary.

18.51

Nip-backer on a length. Liam McCarthy hangs back and nudges it to the right of mid on for a single.

18.40

Short of a length in the channel outside off. McCarthy looks to punch off the back foot but gets beaten on the outside edge. Kishan dives forward and gloves it cleanly. McCarthy is hovering outside his crease but Tector spots the danger quickly and sends him back in time.

Liam McCarthy is in next.

18.3W

OUT! CAUGHT IN THE DEEP! Arshdeep picks up his second wicket. He bangs it short and just around off. George Dockrell keeps moving in the crease to disturb the line of the bowler and goes for a hard slash, playing it aerially. But mistimes it towards deep point and finds Axar Patel, who doesn't have to move an inch to take the catch.

18.22

In the air... lands safely! A fraction fuller angling into the batter. George Dockrell clears the front leg to whip it over mid-wicket, but toe ends it in the air, and it drops in the no-man's land around square leg. Two taken.

18.10

Follows the batter and spears in a short ball on the body. George Dockrell backs away and has little room to work with. Bunts it to the leg side.

17.50

Quicker and shorter, outside off. George Dockrell is rushed by the pace and misses on the cut.

17.41

Short and sliding on the pads. Harry Tector rocks back and chips it through mid-wicket and they are quick to hustle for a single.

17.41wd

WIDE! Miles outside off, beyond the guideline. Let through.

17.31

Very slow outside off, on a length. George Dockrell cuts it off the back foot to deep point for a single.

SIX! Straight as an arrow! A real slot ball from Patel, full on middle. George Dockrell skips out of the crease and clobbers it down the ground for a cracking six.

Just as we had hoped, the rain has blown away, and we are all set for the resumption. Axar Patel to finish his over. George Dockrell is on strike. Let's go...

1.54 pm GMT (7.24 pm IST) - The drizzle has picked up, and the umpires have called for the covers. There is a strong breeze around, so hopefully it helps move the rain through quickly, and we can get underway without too much delay.

18.11

On a hard length, on off. Rana opens the bat face and steers it to short third, where the fielder gets his body behind the ball to make the stop. Just a single.

Right. Last 2 overs to go. India need 34 runs to win with just two wickets in hand and no proper batter in the middle. Harshit can hit a few for sure. But this is a different pressure altogether. Jai Moondra is back for his last over. 3-0-19-3 so far.

A big swing and a miss! Going away, on a good length. Arshdeep swings for the hills but fails to connect.

That should be the game. Ireland are on the verge of something very, very special. Arshdeep Singh walks in at number 10.

17.5W

OUT! CAUGHT! Another one bites the dust. No fireworks from Suryansh Shedge on debut. Two wickets in the over for Matt Hollard. Ireland can see the finishing line. Hollard continues with the back of the length stuff and does not offer much pace, on off. Shedge has a heave across the line but does not get hold of it. It goes only as far as deep mid-wicket, where Tim Tector snaffles it around his chest. India are 8 down now, needing 34 runs from 13 balls.

17.41

Did that carry? On a shortish length, on off. Harshit stands tall and flat bats it down the ground. Ben Calitz opts to hang back and could have taken a couple of steps in and made the catch easier for himself. He has to eventually put in the dive and he cannot cling on to a low catch. Single taken.

17.41wd

Wide! Too short, pace off, outside off. Harshit Rana lets it go. Deemed wide for height.

17.32

A proper short ball, on middle. Rana takes it on and pulls it to the left of deep square leg, where George Dockrell tumbles to his left and lobs it towards the converging Tim Tector. Two runs taken.

Hollard delivers yet again for Ireland and the hosts will surely feel that they are within reach of a historic win. Harshit Rana is in at number 9.

17.2W

OUT! IN THE AIR AND GONE! Fifty and out for Tilak Varma. Ireland are jubilant as this is a massive scalp. Matt Hollard sticks to the slower one but the line is wider this time, on a length. Varma swings at it and ends up slicing it off the outer half towards cover, where Liam McCarthy settles under the skier and takes a pressure catch. India are 117/7, needing 38 from 16.

17.16

SIX! Clobbered and that brings up a FIFTY for Tilak Varma. His 7th T20I fifty and it has come with his side in heaps of trouble. Going away, off-cutter, on a length. Varma gets down on a knee and clubs it over deep mid-wicket for a biggie.

Just 7 runs from the last 2 overs for India. The hosts are really tightening the noose here. Matt Hollard is back on. 3-0-16-1 so far.

Suryansh Shedge is safe. Flat and short, around off. Shedge pushes out in front but the ball straightens a touch to go past the outside edge. Lorcan Tucker is quick to whip the bails off. The third umpire is summoned for a check. The replays confirm that Shedge had his back leg grounded inside the crease.

Umpire's review for a stumping. The side-on replay shows that Suryansh Shedge's back foot is completely grounded when Lorcan Tucker breaks the stumps. NOT OUT loads on the big screen.

16.50

Nice and tight, on a good length, at the stumps. Suryansh Shedge pushes it back to the bowler.

16.41

Fired in, at the base of the off stump, not allowing the batter to get under it. Tilak jams it out through mid-wicket. They cross.

16.31

First run in international cricket. A bit of air given, outside off. Shedge drills it to long off for a single.

16.20

Speared in full and on off. Shedge pushes it to cover.

Huge moment in the game. The 35-run stand is broken and what a crucial time to get that breakthrough. In walks Suryansh Shedge. He has a golden opportunity to shine on his debut.

16.1W

OUT! CAUGHT! Shivam Dube holes out. Matthew Humphreys bowls it into the surface, on middle. Dube pivots for the pull but gets no power on it whatsoever. Mistimes the pull and it goes straight down the throat of deep square leg, where George Dockrell gobbles it up with ease. India are 109/6, needing 46 runs from 23 balls.

That was a top over from Liam McCarthy. India still need 46 runs from 24 balls. Matthew Humphreys (3-0-26-1) will bowl out.

Yes, he does. Only 5 runs from the 16th over. Superb stuff from Liam McCarthy. This is on a hard length, over middle. Dube pulls it wide of deep mid-wicket for only one run.

15.50

So far, so good from Liam McCarthy. Just 4 singles off the over so far. Full and pushed across the left-hander. Dube is expecting another short ball so he hangs back. His feet go nowhere as he pushes away from his body and is beaten on the outside edge. Can Liam McCarthy finish well?

15.41

Sticks to the slower one, on a good length. Tilak walks across and drops it in the vacant square leg region. He is keen for the second but the short fine leg fielder keeps it down to one.

15.11

Does not carry! Angling away, on a back of a length. Dube stands tall and swings through the line. Gets the height but not the distance. Harry Tector charges across to his left from long off and puts in a dive. The ball does not carry but Tector prevents it from going past him. Just a single.

14.51

Darts in a length ball, on a tighter line, on off. Tilak Varma is rushed on the back foot and punches it to widish extra cover for a single.

Tilak Varma pulls out just as Matthew Humphreys is about to release the ball. Humphreys is not pleased and lets the left-hander know about it. The umpire quickly steps in to diffuse the situation and has a word with Tilak.

14.41

A quicker short ball, at 109 kph. Shivam Dube rises up and controls the pull shot to deep mid-wicket for another run.

14.31

Short from Matthew, on middle. Tilak Varma rocks back and drags it across to deep mid-wicket for a single.

14.21

Dube, with an off stump guard, creams the full ball towards long off for a single. And with that, the 100 up for India!

14.14

FOUR! BELTED! Brute force from Dube. Serves it full and on off, the arm ball that goes straight. Shivam Dube gets on the front foot, gets under the ball nicely and ferociously thumps it down the ground for a cracking boundary. No chance for long on or long off to even move an inch from their spots. India need 56 runs from 35 balls.

13.31

Short of a length, around off. Tilak climbs on the bounce and pulls it to deep mid-wicket for a single.

13.22

The call is for two and they will get it! Hard length on middle. Tilak Varma waits for it and whips it off the back foot towards deep mid-wicket. Ben Calitz runs forward from the ropes but cannot pick the ball up cleanly and that allows the batters to sprint back for the second run.

OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Stunning catch from Tucker. That's a telling blow for India. Hits the deck hard, outside off. Axar Patel lines up to help it through short third, but the ball lands and holds in the surface, and arrives later than Axar expects it to. He also plays a bit close to his body and opens the face of the bat. Leaving the left-hander, on a back of a length. Tilak pushes at the ball with hard hands. It goes off an outside edge to short third, where the fielder crouches to make the stop but fumbles and concedes a single.

Varma has copped a stinging blow and has called for the physio straightaway. He is flat on the ground, agonising in pain. Eventually, he gets back on his feet and is ready to resume.

9.50

Ouch, that has hurt. This skids through, on a back of a length, on middle and leg. Tilak pivots but is beaten for pace on the pull and wears it on the hip bone.

9.41

DROPPED! And there was a run out chance as well. Across off, on a nagging length. Patel plays the drive on the up and chips it back to the bowler. Liam McCarthy is crouching on his follow-through and gets his hands up more in evasive action rather than going for the catch. It clips his fingertips and rolls beside the strip on the off side. The cover fielder charges in as the batters look to steal the single. He releases an underarm throw at the bowling end but misses as Axar stretches out to get home.

9.31

At the sticks, on a good length. Varma leans across to flick it away. The ball holds its line and it catches a soft leading edge. It rolls in front of mid off and the batters cross over.

9.22

Closer to the off stump, on a hard length, on off. Tilak shuffles and stands tall to pull it to the left of deep mid-wicket for a brace.

9.10

Bangs it in short, outside off. Tilak initially thinks about going for the pull but then bails out.

India need 94 runs in 66 balls. The asking rate is 8.5 right now. Still quite doable by their standards. But Ireland are doing really well here. Liam McCarthy (1-0-2-0) is back for his second over.

Welcome back, folks! After a bit of a lengthy delay, we are all set to resume in Belfast. India might feel the break came at just the right time, giving them a moment to settle their nerves and reset. Ireland, on the other hand, have a spring in their step right now, and with good reason. Now then, the umpires and players are out in the middle. Tilak Varma and Axar Patel walk to the crease to resume their batting. Harry Tector will bowl. India need 101 runs from 72 balls. Let's go again...

3.33 pm GMT (9.03 pm IST) - Official word is out - The rain is gone for good, and let's hope that it stays away now. We have the restart time as well. Play will resume at 3.45 pm GMT (9.15 pm IST), which is in about 12-odd minutes from now. And there are no reduction in overs.

3.24 pm GMT (8.54 pm IST) - Good news! The rain seems to have stopped and the covers are coming off. Importantly, there is an inspection scheduled at 3.25 pm GMT (8.55 pm IST). Live visuals show that the sun is out now and the two umpires are out for the official inspection. The mop-up work is in full swing at Stormont and we might have a resumption time pretty soon. So stick around.

3.21 pm GMT (8.51 pm IST) - Proper downpour - The live visuals show that it's bucketing down really steadily now. One of the umpires is seen holding an umbrella near the covers. The wait continues for the rain to stop.

3.10 pm GMT (8.40 pm IST) - Rain stops play - Uh, oh! All of a sudden, it has started to rain in Belfast, and the covers are being rushed in. It's a decent downpour, and the umpires request the players to go off the field. Currently, India are 15 runs behind on the DLS par score. The weather changes within minutes in this part of the world.  So, let's hope this is another passing shower. For now, it is dark and gloomy out there and raining heavily.

FOUR LEG BYES! A poor review from Ireland! Full and tailing in towards the leg stump. Tilak looks to glance it off the front foot but misses and gets rapped on the front pad. Ireland go up in an appeal as one for LBW, but the umpire says no. They go for a review. Ball Tracking confirms that it is going down leg. Tilak survives, and India pick up four leg byes in the bargain as the ball runs towards the deep fine leg fence.

Review time. That looked to be going down leg, but Ireland want to take a chance. Even the impact looks to be outside the line here. Yep, it indeed is, confirmed by the Ball Tracking.

India slip into further trouble. Axar Patel is the new batter.

OUT! ISHAN KISHAN IS RUN OUT! Unbelievable scenes in Belfast. That's the last thing the Indians would have wanted. Full and wide outside off. It holds on a touch and Tilak Varma ends up chipping it on the bounce to the backward point fielder. Now, Ishan Kishan tears through from the other end, looking to pinch in a single, but Tilak sends him back on a sharp call. Seeing Kishan more than halfway through, Ross Adair takes a second to lock the aim and scores a direct hit at the bowling end with Ishan nowhere close. He is livid as he walks back to the dugout. India are 35/4, still needing 120 runs from 91 balls.

FOUR! Lovely timing and placement! Back of a length, but Moondra errs in line this time. It is on the pads, and Varma just uses the pace, hops on the toes, and steers it to the right of short fine leg for a boundary.

Change? Nope, Jai Moondra will bowl the third over on the trot and why not? Niall O'Brien mentions on air that this was the first time in T20Is that both Indian openers were dismissed in the very first over.

OUT! CHOPPED ON! Insane stuff from Moondra and that has left Shreyas absolutely shellshocked. Angled outside off on a good length, Shreyas Iyer tries to reach out and access the off side, looking to punch it on the up, but the ball seemingly cuts in a touch and goes off the inside edge before making an absolute mess of the stumps. India are 19/3, and they are in serious trouble now. OUT! STRAIGHT UP AND TAKEN! What a screamer of a catch from Hollard. A nothing shot from Abhishek, and he pays the price. Good length, outside off, shaping away. Abhishek throws his hands at it with everything he has, and the ball pops up, sailing towards the deep third region. It swirls in the air, and Hollard tracks it from short third, circling under it. He nearly overruns the ball but arches back and plucks it almost behind him. He falls over but manages to keep the ball in his hand. India are rocked early as they lose both their openers. They are 1/2, needing 154 more runs.

OUT! LBW! A beauty to start with and Jai draws first blood for Ireland. An inswinger on a good length, on middle. Sanju Samson plays across the line but misses and the ball thuds into the front pad. A huge confident appeal for LBW and up goes the finger instantly. Sanju Samson thinks for a bit and sends it upstairs for a review, but this looks straight and only height can save him. Nothing on UltraEdge and the Ball Tracking shows three reds with the ball projected to hit the leg stump. A golden duck for Samson and Moondra gets him once again. India are 0/1, chasing 155.

19.51

Jai Moondra walks out to bat.

Started on a scratchy note, but he has made sure that he bats through and just has got his timing right now. Back of a length, around the off stump. Harry Tector swings hard and pierces the short third and backward point gap for a boundary.

18.40

George Dockrell is waking gingerly, having taken a blow on the back of his leg. Harry Tector walks over to check on his partner. He does not need any medical assistance and is good to go. It has started to drizzle, but not heavy enough just yet to cause a break in play.

Overthrows! Back of a length, on off. Lorcan Tucker stands tall and slaps it to the extra cover region for a single. The fielder spears in a throw to the bowling end, but it goes wide enough to the leg side and the batters cross for the second as well.

6.20

Swing and a miss! A little bit of width on offer, on a length. Lorcan Tucker tries to punch it on the rise to cover, but the ball nips away and beats the bat.

6.11

Good effort! Fuller one by Dube, outside off. Harry Tector leans on and drives it crisply to the cover region. Tilak Varma flies to his left and makes a half-stop, taking the sting out of the ball and it trickles to the deep for just a single.

No spin just yet. Shivam Dube comes on.

Full and in and around the off stump. Harry Tector knocks it in front of mid off and they steal a single as the fielder fumbles a bit to collect the ball. 6 runs from Yadav's first over. Ireland are 44/2 after the Powerplay!

5.51

Slanted into the batter, full in length. Lorcan Tucker tries to play the pick-up shot over the leg side, but gets a bottom edge and the ball squirts to the square leg region for a single.

5.40

Drama! Back of a length, curving in. Lorcan Tucker plays the straight drive on the bounce to the bowler. Prince collects the ball on the follow-through, and seeing Lorcan out of the crease after playing the shot, he fires in a throw to the batting end, but misses his shy.

5.30

Beaten! Brilliant response by Prince. A touch fuller, angling in on that bail-trimming length. Lorcan Tucker stays put and tries to play at it, but gets beaten past the outside edge.

5.24

FOUR! Played into the gap! At 141 kph, this is full and on middle and leg. Lorcan Tucker walks out of the crease to negate the movement and flicks it through the vacant square leg region for a boundary.

5.10

Starts on the money with an in-angler on a good length. Lorcan Tucker tucks it off the back foot to mid-wicket.

It's time for the debutant to roll his arm over. Here's Prince Yadav into the attack, replacing Harshit Rana.

Going away again, on a back of a length. Harry steers it to backward point.

Oh, dear! All of a sudden, it has gone dark out there and it has started to drizzle a bit as well. It's not that heavy at all and let's hope the wind blows the clouds away.

4.51

Into the wicket, on middle and leg. Tector steps out and adjusts to the bounce to tap it wide of backward point for one.

4.41

A bit fuller now, on off. Harry plays the late dab behind point for a single.

4.34

FOUR! That has raced away in a flash. Fractionally short and equally wide, Tector climbs all over it as he cuts it wide of backward point. Axar Patel dives to his left but fails to make the stop.

4.20

Drags the length back, on middle. Harry tries to turn it away but misses and gets hit on the pads.

4.10

Moving back in, on a good length, on middle. Tector is watchful in defence.

Change? Not yet. Arshdeep Singh (2-0-22-1) will bowl his third over on the bounce.

Sharply nipping back in, on a back of a length, on middle. Harry presents a straight bat to keep it out but is beaten due to the sharp seam movement. Wears it on the pads and it goes behind on the off side for a leg bye.

3.50

Lands it on a short of a good length, on off. Harry stabs it down off the back foot.

3.41

Around the off stump, on a good length. Lorcan runs it down to deep third for a single.

3.34

FOUR! Not quite from the middle but it does the job. Bashes the hard length, on off. Tucker takes on the pull off the front foot. He does not quite time it well but clears mid-wicket. Arshdeep Singh gives chase but the ball wins the race.

3.20

Targeting the off pole, on a length. Tucker punches it to cover.

3.10

On a length, moving away, outside off. Tucker lets it be.

Back-to-back successful overs for the Indians. Ireland under a bit of pressure. Harshit Rana (1-0-4-1) will continue.

Beaten again. Another ball that leaves the right-hander, bowled on a good length. Tector plays the initial line but the ball leaves him.

2.50

Going away with the angle, on a length. Harry has a feel for the ball and is beaten on the outside edge.

2.44

FOUR! A fortuitous boundary. Serves it on a back of a length, on middle. Tector stays back to deal with it. The ball comes back in to catch the inside edge and it goes down to deep fine leg for a boundary.

2.31

On the pads, Lorcan flicks it away through fine leg for a single.

Out goes Adair. In comes Lorcan Tucker at number 4.

2.2W

OUT! CAUGHT! Ross Adair is gone this time. Angling away from the right-hander, on a good length. Adair gives himself room to go big on the off side. He does not quite get hold of it and only gets the height but not the distance. It goes only as far as cover, where Tilak Varma takes a couple of steps back and completes the catch on the edge of the ring.

2.14

DROPPED AND FOUR! That was in the air for an eternity and Harshit has made an absolute meal of that one. He never looked in a comfortable position to catch that. Hard length, into the body, from over the wicket. Adair swishes across the line and gets a top edge that balloons high behind the stumps. The keeper sets off after it. Rana backpedals from short third. It is Rana who gets there in the end, leaping backwards and getting his fingertips to it, but he cannot hold on and the ball trickles into the fence. A tough chance, but a chance nonetheless.

Nips in from a good length, on top of off. Harry Tector hangs back and bunts it down the pitch. A very successful over for Harshit.

A bit of a nothing shot from Tim. Joy for India and Harshit. A 3-for in the first T20I and he starts on the money here as well. One Tector walks out, in comes another. Harry Tector is in at number 3, playing his 100th T20I for Ireland.

1.5W

OUT! CAUGHT! That is a really soft dismissal. Tim Tector will be disappointed with himself. Rana pulls the length back and keeps it outside off. Tector was better off going over the top on the off side. He has a heave across the line and ends up getting it right off the toe end. Spoons it to mid-wicket, where Abhishek Sharma takes a sitter.

1.44

FOUR! Good shot. Rana goes full in search of swing but ends up dishing out a low full toss, on middle. Tector makes room and cracks the drive all along the ground through covers for a four.

1.30

Wider on off, on a back of a length. Tim tries to drag the pull but misses.

1.20

Cut him in half! Jagging back in, on a back of a length, on off and middle. Tector is beaten on the inside edge on the block and the bounce takes it over the stumps.

1.10

Moving away, on a length, Tim pushes away from his body and ends up chopping it down on the off side.

It was turning out to be a fine over from Arshdeep, but then Adair just pumped a couple of those down the ground to make it a productive start for Ireland. Harshit Rana will operate from the opposite end.

SIX! And again. This was a tough shot to execute, but Adair made it look so easy. Shaping back a bit, tucking the batter up for room, on a short of a length. Ross gets his hands through the ball and pummels it towards the sight screen for a biggie.

0.56

SIX! Ross Adair finally gets one away. This is bowled into the surface, around off. This sits up to be hit for the batter. Stand and deliver stuff from Adair as he backs away a bit and smacks it with a horizontal bat back over the bowler's head.

0.40

Fuller in length and moving away in the air. Ross gives the bowler the charge and swings at it, only to miss.

0.30

Hits the top of off now. Adair steers it to backward point.

0.20

A big swing and a miss. Drags the length back, does Arshdeep, around off. Adair hangs back, clears the front leg and swings to go down the ground but fails to connect.

0.11

Off the mark right away. Across the off stump, on a length. Tector extends his hands to force the drive. Miscues it off the inner half back past the bowler and to the left of mid on for a single.

Righto, time for the series finale to get underway. It's a beautiful, pleasant day in Stormont. The sun is shining brightly with scattered clouds overhead, but nothing threatening. And a decent crowd is in attendance at the venue. The Indian players scatter across the park and take their positions. Tim Tector and Ross Adair are the two Irish openers. Arshdeep Singh has the new ball and is raring to go with a slip in place. Tector will face the first ball. Let's play!

We are just a few minutes away from the start, but before that, the match officials and both teams walk out and get lined up for the national anthems. It will be the Indian national anthem first, followed by Ireland's.

A quick chat with India's vice-captain - Tilak Varma says the vice-captaincy feels really good, but acknowledges it comes with added responsibility. He points to his experience captaining at the age-group level and leading an India A side recently, saying he tries to share whatever inputs he has out in the field. He admits he contributed what he could in the last match too, but the result did not go India's way. He is focused on the game ahead, saying India have another chance now and are looking to win and level the series. On the discussions within the camp after the disappointing first game, he says they have not dwelt on it too much, stressing that it is just one match. He says the team has gone back to basics and will continue to play the fearless T20 cricket they have been playing for years. He is firm in his belief that one match does not define this team, and the message is simple, back yourself from ball one, whether you are looking to hit or looking to take a wicket, and play without fear.

India (Playing XI) - Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan (WK), Shreyas Iyer (C), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Suryansh Shedge (On T20I debut) (In for Washington Sundar), Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Prince Yadav (On T20I debut) (In for Prasidh Krishna).

Ireland (Unchanged Playing XI) - Tim Tector, Ross Adair, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker (C/WK), Ben Calitz, Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Liam McCarthy, Matthew Humphreys, Jai Moondra and Matt Hollard.

The skipper of Ireland - Lorcan Tucker says they are happy to bat first. Shares that the pitch was on the slower side and hopes the conditions work in their favour once again. Adds that it will be important to assess the conditions quickly, adapt accordingly and learn from the previous match. Tucker also stresses the need for a better start in the Powerplay with the bat. Informs that they are unchanged for this game.

The captain of India - Shreyas Iyer says, considering the weather conditions, he reckons it can pour anytime, so they just want to make good use of the conditions with the ball. On India's approach after the first T20I defeat, he says the key is adapting to conditions as quickly as possible. He gives credit to Ireland for being smart with their bowling changes and using the conditions well, and says India need to play smart cricket rather than sticking rigidly to a pattern, while continuing to back their instincts in the moment. On returning to international cricket, he says it was a different challenge from the IPL and admits it was his first international game in a long time. But he points to the experience in the squad as a reassuring factor, calling the first game simply an off day and saying the group is eager to put in a much better showing today. On changes, he confirms two, with Prince Yadav and Suryansh Shedge both making their T20I debuts. He speaks highly of Shedge, describing him as a powerful and destructive batter who has been scoring consistently in domestic cricket and the IPL, with age-group cricket and India A tours adding to his readiness. He says Shedge has earned this opportunity. On Prince Yadav, Iyer is careful, saying he does not want to pile pressure on him in his first T20I game. He says he wants Prince to enjoy the experience and learn from it, and is confident he is smart enough to adapt, having watched how the previous game unfolded.

TOSS - Time for the coin to go up. It is a blustery afternoon with plenty of cloud cover overhead. Shreyas Iyer calls 'Tails' and the coin lands in his favour. India opt to BOWL first.

No Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - The 15-year-old will have to wait a little longer to make his India debut. There are, however, two debutants for India, with Prince Yadav and Suryansh Shedge handed their maiden caps. Shedge receives his cap from Sanju Samson, while Prince is presented with his by Shivam Dube. Prince made his ODI debut earlier this month during the series against Afghanistan, while Shedge earned his maiden India call-up after impressing with his power-hitting in the IPL. The all-rounder, who can also contribute with the ball, was not part of the original squad but came in as a replacement for the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Finding the right balance - Despite the firepower in India's batting line-up, they found it difficult to clear the ropes consistently on a sluggish surface that also offered a bit of extra bounce. Several of their batters ended up holing out in the deep as the pitch and the large square boundaries combined to make stroke-making far from straightforward. Adding to that was a conscious effort from Ireland's seamers to keep banging the ball into the surface and force the batters to hit against the conditions. It will be interesting to see how India go about their business today and whether they adopt a slightly smarter approach. Stick around for the toss and team news.

More history on the cards? Ireland will certainly believe so. Despite being hit by injuries, Lorcan Tucker's side produced one of the finest wins in their T20I history in the series opener and now stand just one victory away from a first-ever T20I series triumph over India. Having already created one memorable moment, they have the chance to cap off one of the greatest weeks in Irish cricket history with another. India, meanwhile, find themselves in unfamiliar territory. They have not lost a bilateral men's T20I series since 2023 and will be desperate to keep that record intact. As there was on Friday, there is plenty of anticipation around the possibility of a debut for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

Hello, one and all - The two teams meet again in Belfast for the second and final T20I of the series. The last couple of days have been nothing short of historic for Irish cricket. On Friday, the men's team stunned the defending T20 champions in the series opener, and yesterday, Gaby Lewis and her side followed it up with a memorable upset over former champions West Indies at the Women's T20 World Cup.

... MATCH DAY ...

The Stormont decider - History has a tendency to arrive without much warning at Stormont. On a grey Belfast Friday, Ireland did something they had never managed before in any format against India, winning by 34 runs to take a 1-0 lead in a two-match series. Sunday's match at the Civil Service Cricket Club is now something entirely different from what anyone expected when this tour was announced. Ireland can win a bilateral T20I series against the T20 World Champions. India, under a brand new captain in Shreyas Iyer, are playing to avoid a result that would define this era's opening chapter for the wrong reasons. A recovery act that became a statement - The story of Ireland's batting in the first T20I is almost as remarkable as the result itself. They lost the toss, then lost three wickets inside the first six overs to find themselves at 36 for 3, two of them to a Harshit Rana who looked sharp and ready to dismantle the innings. That is where most sides would have folded. Instead, Lorcan Tucker and Gareth Delany produced a partnership that changed the entire shape of the match. Tucker brought up a half-century, his third in three games as T20I captain, and Delany chipped in with 49. The pair put on over a hundred runs together, threading boundaries through a big outfield and managing the pitch's variable bounce with a calmness that seemed almost incongruous with the occasion. Finishing on 182 for 9, Ireland gave themselves something genuinely competitive to defend. Debutants who seized the moment - Ireland went into the match without several of their frontline bowlers through injury, which made the selection of Matt Hollard and Jai Moondra as much out of necessity as faith. Both repaid that faith immediately. Hollard, who moved from South Africa and spent years working his way into the Irish setup, removed Shreyas Iyer for three and finished with three wickets, each celebration slightly different from the last, as if he needed to keep reminding himself it was real. Moondra struck with his first ball in international cricket, bowling Sanju Samson through the gate, and added a second before the innings was done. Between them, they did what Ireland needed most after a top-heavy powerplay attack had done its job. They kept taking wickets when India were trying to build something in the middle overs. That both men managed it on debut, against the world champions, with a full house watching, is the kind of thing Cricket Ireland's talent pipeline will be talking about for a while. A baptism by fire - For India, this tour represents a significant transition. Under the new leadership of Shreyas Iyer, the side struggled to adapt to the pitch conditions after the Powerplay, and their inability to form meaningful middle-order partnerships left them exposed. Although Abhishek Sharma showcased the aggressive intent expected of this new squad, the rest of the lineup seemed caught in a loop of impatience. Batters repeatedly surrendered their wickets while chasing high risk shots. Looking ahead to the decider, the Indian think tank faces a critical tactical dilemma. Do they stick with the established core that fell short on Friday, or do they inject fresh energy, possibly through the highly anticipated debut of teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi? The decisions that cost India - The instinct to front-load his pace attack in the Powerplay made sense on that surface, but it left him with few reliable options in the middle and late overs. Washington Sundar was handed the 16th over in a desperate moment and conceded 19 runs. Prasidh Krishna bowled the 17th and gave away 27, finishing with figures of 0 for 57. It was a death-bowling selection that reflected just how thin India's options became once the Powerplay was done. That structural problem will need addressing before Sunday. The cost of sloppiness - India's fielding in the first T20I was a catalogue of missed opportunities that directly inflated Ireland's total. Three catches went down across the innings, each one arriving at a moment when Ireland were under real pressure and needed the reprieve. There were chances that an Indian side of this quality would expect to take nine times out of ten. For a team that prides itself on its fielding standards, gifting three lives to a batting unit that was wobbling at 51 for 4 is precisely the kind of generosity that turns a competitive total into a match-winning one. Team form (Last 5 T20Is, recent first) - IRE - WWLLW | IND - LWWWW. History in sight - Ireland have beaten Pakistan, England, and Zimbabwe in T20Is. They have pushed teams to the wire and made people take notice. But a series win over India, the reigning world champions, in a bilateral contest on home soil would be categorically different. Tucker has said his side will return for Sunday pumped, knowing full well that a bloodied Indian team fighting for pride is perhaps the most dangerous version of this opponent. Keeping that composure, trusting the plans that worked on Friday, and refusing to be swept away by the occasion's weight is Ireland's biggest challenge. The conditions may stay in their favour. The question is whether their nerve does too.
