Right then, that's it from the coverage of this game. The India T20 League action continues on 17th May. In this match, Punjab will be locking horns Delhi. The first ball will be at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), but you can join us early for the build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye.

Marcus Stoinis wins the Player of the Match award for his scintillating unbeaten knock of 89 runs. He starts by saying that it is a great moment for Mohsin Khan, as he has been away from the tournament since the last year. Also, to come into match and bowl the final over is a great feeling. Feels that they bowled decently to keep them in the game. Lauds the spinners for pulling things back for them.

Krunal Pandya, the skipper of Lucknow, says that he was having cramps and pulled a muscle and adds that he has always been a team player. Mentions that he is really happy with the result. Shares that Mohsin has a big heart and is really happy for him. Adds that he did not play cricket for one year and to come in such a high-pressure tournament, the sky is the limit for him. Reckons that it has been easy for them at this venue but it feels really happy to end on a winning note.

Stay tuned for the presentation...

The man of the moment for Lucknow, Mohsin Khan is in for a chat. He says that the plan was to execute what he had done in practice and backed his strengths. Mentions that he did not shorten his run-up. Adds that he was trying to calm himself down and was not looking at the scoreboard. Shares that the plan was to bowl slower deliveries and change it up by bowling yorkers. Mentions that it was a tough time when he was injured and informs that his father got discharged from ICU yesterday. Adds that he played this match for him and he would have been watching. Ends by thanking Gautam Gambhir, Vijay Dahiya and the rest of the support staff for picking him for this game despite him not doing well in the last game.

Rohit Sharma, the skipper of Mumbai, says that they did not play well enough and adds that they were moments in the game they did not win. Mentions that it is unfortunate but need to keep our heads high. Reckons that they assessed the pitch well and feels that the score was chasable. Shares that they lost their way in the second half of the chase and adds that they conceded too many runs in the backend of the bowling effort. On Marcus Stoinis's innings, he says that he batted well and played according to his strengths. Ends by saying that he isn't sure about the playoff calculations and says that they will look to come out and play good cricket in the final game.

Earlier in the match, Lucknow were off to a horror start as they lost three wickets very early on but that did not really stop them to get an above-par score on this wicket. Before the match, they would've taken 160, although Marcus Stoinis powered them to 177 runs. Mumbai need to sort out their bowling at the death overs. It hasn't been consistent for them over the course of this season, and once again it has put a huge dent on their momentum at the fag end of the season.

Lucknow needed a good start with the ball, but it did not go as per plan. The hosts were put on the back foot instantly, with the Mumbai openers scoring for fun on this sluggish wicket. That's when Ravi Bishnoi worked his magic and sent both the openers back into the hut. This was the turning point of this match, as, after this, the Lucknow bowlers executed their plans to perfection. Yash Thakur picked up a brace as well and then it was Mohsin Khan who stole the limelight with his exceptional effort in the final over.

Mumbai were off to a flying start with the bat in hand. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan were scoring runs for fun on this slow track. These two certainly set a solid platform, although the middle order could not come out all guns blazing and struggled in the second half of their chase. Mumbai were cruising at 103/2 at 11.1 and it looked like they had the game in the bag, but the Mumbai batting performance was a bit lacklustre in the final 9 overs. Tim David tried his best to get them over the line, but could not get the job done for his side.

A brilliant win for Lucknow and all the home fans have a new star to praise, oh yes, it is Mohsin Khan. The pace bowler defended 10 runs successfully in the final over to hand his side two crucial points at the business end of the tournament. Mumbai were the favourite with the way they started this chase, although the visitors lost their mojo once the opening pair was taken apart.

Commentary

We are back for Mumbai's reply. The Lucknow players are seen in a huddle near the ropes. They make their way out to the middle and are joined by the two Mumbai openers. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma will open the innings for Mumbai. Krunal Pandya has the new ball in hand for Lucknow and is raring to go. Let's play...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Right then, Lucknow will certainly be the happier of the two sides at the halfway mark. It is now onto their bowlers to take them over the line. On the other hand, Mumbai will be disappointed with their bowling effort and now have a tough target to overhaul. Can Rohit Sharma and Co. rise to the challenge? We shall find out shortly. Back in a bit for the chase...

The man of the moment for Lucknow, Marcus Stoinis is in for a chat. He says that he wasn't thinking about the gloves while he was batting, but felt he needed to change his gloves later on. Informs that this is not the easiest of wickets but if you give yourself some time then it does get better eventually.

As he has done all season, Jason Behrendorff provided Mumbai with a couple of early inroads. Once the Powerplay was over, Piyush Chawla was brought on and he struck gold on his very first delivery. Despite having Lucknow 3 wickets down, Mumbai were unable to keep the pressure on and allowed the hosts to make a comeback into the game. They had no answers to the blitzkrieg by Marcus Stoinis and even ended up conceding 54 runs in the final 3 overs. Jason Behrendorff was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 30 from his four overs.

Lucknow finish on a high and it has been the Marcus Stoinis-show that has propelled them to this challenging total! After Rohit Sharma called it right and put Lucknow into bat, the move to promote Deepak Hooda did not pay off. Prerak Mankad and Quinton de Kock were dismissed cheaply as well and the hosts were tottering at 35-3. Krunal Pandya and Marcus Stoinis then got together and forged a solid recovery with an 82-run stand. After the departure of the Lucknow skipper, Stoinis took matters into his own hands and unleashed himself all around the park. His unbeaten knock of 89 from 47 balls has put Lucknow in a pole position at the innings break.

SIX! HUGE! Marcus Stoinis finishes things off in style. Akash Madhwal does not nail his yorker this time. Marcus Stoinis reads it well and tonks it way over the long off fence for a maximum. Lucknow end with 177 on the scoreboard, with the loss of 3 wickets.

19.51

19.21wd

WIDE! Akash Madhwal hurls in a full ball down the wrong line this time. The umpire is forced to extend his arms. Still 5 legal deliveries left in the over.

19.10

Akash Madhwal starts the final over with a dot. A wide yorker, on the money. Nicholas Pooran slashes hard at it but gets nowhere near the ball.

It will be Akash Madhwal (3-0-16-0) to bowl the final over.

FOUR! Lucknow are right back in this contest. 24 runs coming of this over. Chris Jordan ends his spell by leaking 50 runs in his 4 overs with no wickets to support his case. It is a short ball, sliding down leg. Marcus Stoinis pulls it past short fine leg and the ball races away.

17.56

SIX! HUGE! Chris Jordan is under pressure. He has been taken to the cleaners here. There is still one ball remaining in the over. Chris Jordan goes for the yorker but it comes off as a low full toss. Marcus Stoinis gets under it and smokes it over the long on fence for a maximum.

17.44

FOUR! CRUNCHED! Marcus Stoinis is winning the mini-Ashes battle here. This is exceptional hitting. Shorter in length, wide of off. Marcus Stoinis rocks back and cuts it powerfully past point for four runs.

17.34

FOUR! Smacked. Back of a length, on the bodyline. Stoinis lifts his front foot and pulls it over square leg. A couple of bounces and into the ropes.

17.20

A slower length ball, on middle and leg. Marcus Stoinis is only able to defend it back to the bowler. Brilliant change of pace from the Englishmen.

17.16

SIX! HIGH AND HANDSOME! Marcus Stoinis brings up his FIFTY in fine fashion. It is a pitched up delivery, on off. Marcus Stoinis stands tall and smokes it over the bowler's head for a maximum.

16.52

Good length, on the pads. This one skids through. Marcus Stoinis swivels and pulls it awkwardly through square leg. They collect two runs.

16.40

Akash Madhwal serves a toe crushing yorker. Marcus Stoinis fails to get his blade on time. He misses his footing as well and kneels on the ground. Akash Madhwal seems excited, he puts in an appeal and the finger goes up instantly. Marcus Stoinis though takes the review for the same. The UltraEdge confirms no bat is involved. The Ball Tracking confirms that the ball is missing the wickets. Marcus Stoinis suvives. Will he be able to make the most of his reprieve?

Hello and a warm welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to our coverage of match number 63 of the 2023 Indian T20 League, where Lucknow take on Mumbai. A crunch game awaits us at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, where teams placed 3rd and 4th lock horns in what could well be a season-defining game for them.

... MATCH DAY …

We are at the business end of the Indian T20 League 2023, and the race for the top four is heating up game by game. This has been one of the closest seasons and also one where teams have scored huge totals on multiple occasions which has been chased easily sometimes. We shift our focus now to the hugely important clash between Lucknow and Mumbai at the Ekana Sports City Stadium in Lucknow. The home team staged a brilliant comeback in the run-chase against Hyderabad while Mumbai dominated proceedings in their match against Gujarat. The batters of Lucknow haven't had a great time at their home ground as they have suffered a couple of collapses which have cost them some points. They are also missing the leadership and anchor role that KL Rahul used to play for them before getting injured. Although Quinton de Kock has looked good since he got his chance this season, Kyle Mayers has lost his touch in the last few games which is a concern for them. They will need more from Krunal Pandya who also has the responsibility of leading the side and Ayush Badoni who has shown glimpses of his talent. Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran have played match-winning knocks in a few games with the latter being crucial in their recent victory where he absolutely smashed it. The biggest positive for them was that Prerak Mankad was brilliant and scored a half-century when they needed it the most to get them to a victory. They will hope for more of the same from the batters in this game too. Their bowling has been decent, though, with an all-Indian bowling attack with Avesh Khan, Yudhvir Singh, and Yash Thakur in the pace department while Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra get those breakthroughs in the middle overs. Naveen-ul-Haq and Mark Wood did well when they played but to fit in Quinton de Kock they had to sacrifice them which is a risky move and they will need to be careful against the destroying batting of Mumbai if they want to get anything out of this one. Mumbai, on the other hand, started slowly as they do but have found their touch just at the right time in this tournament. Ishan Kishan has played some good knocks and Rohit Sharma also looked in good touch in the last game. Suryakumar Yadav has been absolutely stunning for them and he is coming after scoring a hundred in the last game and before that being the star in a couple of successful run-chases. Cameron Green has contributed with both bat and ball while Tim David is their reliable finisher and has already shown that this season. They have not missed Tilak Varma that much in the last few matches because Nehal Wadhera and Vishnu Vinod have stepped up big-time for them. Their bowling has been a problem, especially at the death and getting in Chris Jordan was a smart move but it is Akash Madhwal who has emerged as their best death bowler. Jason Behrendorff has also chipped in with important wickets but Piyush Chawla has been their most successful bowler with his experience and has gotten good support from Kumar Kartikeya as well. They now look like a strong unit but teams can still target their bowlers to get the better of them. This is a massive game for both teams as whoever wins this will strengthen their qualification chances and everything will be in their hands. Will Mumbai continue their merry way? Or will Lucknow be able to stop them in their tracks? We will find out soon.
