Commentary

That is all from this game. The focus shifts on Group A as India takes on Ireland on the 5th of this month. Join us for the 8th game of the tournament at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT). Join us earlier for the build up. Till then, cheers!

Scott Edwards, the captain of Netherlands says that they got a bit of a read of the wicket and their bowlers used the conditions well to get a couple of wickets in the Powerplay. Credits his entire bowling unit and says that they were excellent throughout the innings. Mentions that ideally they would have wanted to chase it down quicker but the wicket was a bit tricky and Max played a crucial knock to take them home. Ends by saying that it is just about keeping consistency for them and they can challenge any team in the tournament.

Rohit Paudel, the skipper of Nepal says the conditions were challenging, they could have played a bit better with tbe bat, they lacked partership and it helped Netherlands to get back in the game. Adds he was trying to use the crease and disturb the Dutch bowler's length and it was working for him. Shares they bowled well but accepts that it could have been different had he would have taken the catch in the fag end of the innings. Ends by thanking the crowd who showed up and says, he feels like they were playing in Nepal.

Tim Pringle wins the Player of the Match award. He says that he tried to bowl at the stump and let the surface do it's job. Adds that giving flight is important for a spinner but you also have to vary your pace. Ends by saying that he is happy that they got the win.

...Presentation...

For Nepal, they were boosted with some amazing support right from the start but on the field, things didn't went as per planned. Nepal didn't got the partnership they were looking for with the bat. They struggled throughout and ended with a below-par total in the end. The bowlers didn't had much chance with such a low score to defend but they tried their best and scalped a couple of wickets however, were not helped by some disappoint fielding performance as they dropped a couple of chances and at times when if had they taken the catch, the game could have tilted in their favour.

Netherlands are up and running in the Group D! The victory though was well set up by their bowlers. It was a crucial toss to win for Scott Edwards who made a great decision to bowl first in overcast conditions. His bowlers were right upto the mark, just basic execution was needed as the pitch was assisting seamers and spinners equally. Tim Pringle took the opening wicket and ended with three eventully while Logan van Beek took two wickets in the final over to end with three wickets as well. With bat, Netherlands kept losing wickets reguarly but they needed someone to play the anchoring role and it was Max O'Dowd who put up his hand and scored a fine fifty to get his team over the line. Netherlands could have gone the hard way but they chose to be cautios right till the end to get the two points which is understanable knowing the pitch was helping the bowlers.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! Nepal players are in a huddle discussing a few things and now they spread out to take their respective field positions. Max O'Dowd and Michael Levitt are the two openers for Netherlands. Karan KC to start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Nepal, on the other hand will be very disappointed with their batting effort. They just couldn't really get going and failed to build any sort of partnerships in the middle. They lost both the openers inside the Powerplay which put them on the back foot. Their skipper came in and fought a lone battle out there scoring a gritty 35. However, he kept losing partners at the other end and was dismissed trying to up the ant towards the end. Gulshan Jha and Karan KC added some crucial runs towards the end but, they had seven single-digit socre which tells the whole story. However, they have the crowd support and if they can make early inroads here, they can put pressure on Netherlands but it will need a lot from their bowlers. Join us in a bit for the second essay.

Logan van Beek, one of the top bowlers for Netherlands is up for a quick chat. He starts by saying they weren't sure if they were in Dallas or Nepal as he appreciates the support Nepal are getting. Adds they need to stick to the game plan now. Shares it was a great effort in the fielding department. Reckons he doesn't mind putting the pads on but he is positive that they'll chase it down.

A clinical bowling performance from Netherlands! The conditions suited their bowlers, and they took full advantage of that. Surprisingly, it was the spinner Pringle who got them the first breakthrough, and they never looked back since. The pacers were right on the money, never gave anything away, and also kept picking up wickets at regular intervals to keep the pressure on the batters. Their catching was exceptional and they took every chance that fell in front of them. Tim Pringle and Logan van Beek shared six wickets equally while Paul van Meekeren and Bas de Leede got a couple each as they restricted Nepal to a well below-par total here.

19.2W

OUT! GONE! Logan van Beek ends with three wickets. Shorter and around off, Abinash Bohara with a wild swing across the line, it takes the slice of the bat and flies up. Logan van Beek does the rest as he doesn't move much. NEPAL END WITH 106 RUNS.

Abinash Bohara is the last man in.

Ends by saying there is green tinge and the pitch looks abrasive,

Rohit Paudel, the captain of Nepal says that it is a big occasion for all of them as they are playing in the T20 World Cup after 10 years and it s a dream come true for them. Nepal might be a bit under the weather, but they're still a team to watch out for. Their batting can be explosive, and young guns like Rohit Paudel and Kushal Malla, the team's rock, will be crucial. Don't forget Dipendra Singh Airee, who can light up the scoreboard in a flash as he holds the record of the fastest T20I fifty. Their bowling attack is a solid one, especially Karan KC and the death-overs ace Abinash Bohara. Who will open their account in this crucial encounter in the World Cup? We will find out soon. Toss and team news in a bit.

The Netherlands have shown some inconsistency in recent times, but their victory over Sri Lanka in the warm-up match demonstrates that they can pose a threat to any team in this tournament. Sybrand Engelbrecht was a standout performer for the Netherlands in the recent tri-nation series involving Nepal, scoring over 150 runs and taking multiple wickets. Max O'Dowd and Michael Levitt will be key batters to watch, both of whom are in excellent form. The bowling attack will be spearheaded by the duo of Logan van Beek and Paul van Meekeren, supported by a variety of other options that could prove effective in these conditions.

Hello and welcome to our coverage of Match 7 in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Netherlands will be taking on Nepal at the stunning Grand Prairie Stadium. This match marks the tournament opener for both sides, and with each team eager to kick off their campaign on a high note, we can anticipate a thrilling contest.

... MATCH DAY ...

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 is up and rocking across the US and the Caribbean, and it's time for Match number 7 of the league stage! The Dutch lads are all pumped up and ready to kick off their World Cup journey as they gear up to take on Nepal at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas. The Netherlands are definitely pumped up after securing a win and are brimming with confidence following their victory over Sri Lanka in the warm-up match. Labeling it an upset would be underestimating the Dutch squad, as they've proven their ability to surprise big opponents against the odds on multiple occasions. The Dutch brigade will be marshaled by their dynamic skipper Scott Edwards, who leads from the front as a wicket-keeper batter. But he's got some serious firepower backing him up with the bat. The hard-hitting Michael Levitt and the experienced campaigner Max O'Dowd will be holding fort at the top of the order along with Vikramjit Singh. These two openers were in terrific nick during the warm-ups and will be aiming to carry that rich vein of form into the main event as well. The Dutch have a solid all-round core as well. Guys like Bas de Leede, Teja Nidamanuru, Saqib Zulfiqar, Sybrand Engelbrecht, and Logan van Beek can seriously hurt any opposition with both bat and ball. Their bowling lineup is solid, featuring pacers like Paul van Meekeren, who can also deliver some powerful hits. The spin department is covered by Aryan Dutt and Tim Pringle, with Zulfiqar adding depth. Plus, they have several other pace options, giving them a lot of flexibility and luxury. Speaking of their opponents, Nepal, they faced a humbling defeat against Canada in their warm-up match. Their top order did a decent job but the middle order strangled badly and would aim to correct those errors with an aim to win their opener. Despite the loss, Nepal's top order looks strong with in-form players like Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh, along with Anil Sah and Kushal Malla. Skipper Rohit Paudel as an batting all-rounder will spearhead the middle order with Karan KC who have a decent experience. Sagar Dhakal and Lalit Rajbanshi make their spin department while Gulshan Jha, Kamal Singh, and Abinash Bohara will be their frontline pacers. With both teams posing a good number of all-rounder options at helm, this contest promises to be a nail-biting one. The Netherlands will definitely fancy their chances of piling on the misery of Nepal as they have a slight edge over their opponents in head-to-heads, whereas the subcontinental boys will aim to quickly put that blip behind them and start fresh in the main competition with on a positive note. Who do you think will win this clash?
