Commentary

Right on cue, the Netherlands players make their way out on the field, followed by Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan who walk out to open for Pakistan. It will be Fred Klaassen to start with the new ball. Here we go...

Hold on! The umpires are seen strolling on the field. Looks like they are concerned about the weather here. It has started to drizzle a bit and a few umbrellas are out in the stands as well. As things stand, the sky is pretty clear and we should get going for now.

... The Run Chase ...

Right then, the Dutch team was lacklustre with the bat and doesn't have enough runs to defend. Still, they have a good pace attack and would try to make things hard for the opposition. Will it be a stroll in the park for Pakistan? We will find out shortly.

Haris Rauf comes up for a quick interview. The speedster is pleased with their bowling effort and shares that they tried to hit the hard length. Admits that in the last game they were a bit on the fuller side and they had a talk regarding the same. Praises the fans for always supporting them.

The quartet of pace bowling of Pakistan was right on the money. Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Wasim and Haris Rauf bowled with a lot of fire and accuracy to create immense pressure and then Shadab Khan cashed in. Overall, a clinical performance on the field for Pakistan and now their aim will be to knock down the runs quickly to keep their outside chance of qualification alive.

A top-drawer bowling show from Pakistan! It was always a strange and, at the same time, a brave decision from the Netherlands to bat first against the pace battery of Pakistan. Soon that decision backfired. The Dutch team only lost one wicket in the Powerplay but at the same time, scored only 19 runs. The pressure to score runs after the field restriction was lifted got the better of them. They tried to attack Shadab Khan but the leggie was smart enough with his variations to pick three wickets and never allowed the Netherlands to gain any kind of momentum.

A cracking cover drive from Rizwan but the fielder does well inside the ring to stop it with a dive. Another dot.

What happened there? Mohammad Rizwan is seen complaining about something to the umpires. Perhaps, he is unable to see the ball. There is a bit of sunshine near the bowler's landing area and shadows everywhere. So the ball is coming right from the sunshine and it's probably hard to pick.

The sun is peeping out and the Perth Stadium is looking ready to host this must-win game for both teams. The crowd has also trooped in large numbers with Pakistan playing now and India due next. The players of the Netherlands and Pakistan have come out and they will line up for the national anthems.

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, admits that they are under pressure. He wants his boys to concentrate on this game. Emphasizes on having a good start in the Powerplay and feels that they need to improve as a group. Informs that Fakhar Zaman is in the XI, replacing Haider Ali.
