Commentary

And that's a wrap! What a magnificent victory for Pakistan, clinching the T20I series in style. The players lift the trophy for the celebrations and pose for photos. The two sides now have an ODI series lined up, which begins on November 4, with the first ball scheduled for 9 AM GMT. Join us for all the early build-up, the toss, and every moment of the action. Until then, farewell from all of us, and cheers!

Salman Agha, the skipper of Pakistan, says that he is happy with the team's performance. He adds that every player in the team knows their role and they play accordingly. He says that they keep on learning from every game and they believe in their players. Ends by saying that they would love to be more clinical, but they are happy to win the series from behind.

Donovan Ferreira, the skipper of South Africa, says that they failed to perform with the bat once again. He says that there have been a lot of learnings from this series and they will look to improve on those. He adds that they can take a lot from this series, and he enjoyed his captaincy.

Faheem Ashraf is the Player of the Series. He says that the team gives him a specific role, and he sticks to that role. He adds that he plays with the minds of the batters and bowls accordingly. He mentions that he always keeps the team first, and he is happy with the win.

Babar Azam is the Player of the Match for his magnificent knock. He says that the way the crowd has supported him was excellent. He says that he backed himself and he worked on himself and got better in the things he was struggling with. He says that the ball was turning a bit at the start, so they wanted to take the game deep. Ends by saying that it would be great if the crowd supports the entire team as they support him.

Presentations coming up...

Earlier in the game, South Africa fell short again after being put in to bat, with Shaheen Afridi’s early double strike and tight spin reducing them to 76-6. Hendricks tried to steady things, but the innings never took off. They ended up with a below par total of 139 runs. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi picked three wickets and was the pick of the bowlers. Faheem Ashraf and Usman Tariq picked two while Salman Mirza and Mohammad Nawaz chipped in with one each.

Ultimately, Pakistan successfully chased down the target and won the match by 4 wickets. This victory marked their second win in as many days, allowing them to clinch the T20 series. Babar Azam's return to form was the defining factor, ensuring a relatively straightforward end to the game despite the late flutter of wickets. For South Africa, Lizaad Williams and Corbin Bosch picked two wickets while Andile Simelane and Donovan Ferreira chipped in with one each.

Although Pakistan lost Saim Ayub early for a duck, Babar Azam held his ground and ensured the momentum stayed with Pakistan. Even after Babar was dismissed, and the team lost a few more quick wickets towards the end, the required runs were minimal. The solid foundation he had set meant that South Africa's late efforts were not enough to stage a comeback.

All smiles in the Pakistan camp as they win this series by 2-1. A comfortable victory for Pakistan, largely thanks to a brilliant performance by Babar Azam. The conditions, aided by the dew, made batting easier, and Babar capitalized with a scintillating knock, displaying some fantastic strokes. He was the anchor of the innings, first with Sahibzada Farhan, and then with Salman Agha, which put Pakistan firmly in control of the chase.

Commentary

Welcome back for the chase. The umpires and the players are out in the middle. Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub walk in with their blades for Pakistan. Donovan Ferreira has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Let's play...

...THE CHASE...

Right then! Not a big target and the home team have a chance to secure the series, which will give them a big boost going forward. South Africa on the other hand, need a good start to put some early pressure on Pakistan. Stay tuned.

Usman Tariq is in for a chat. He says that playing club cricket and the plans he discussed with the bowling coach helped him hold his own. He adds that CPL experience boosted his confidence and that chasing would be easier due to the dew factor, with the ball coming nicely onto the bat in the last over.

The skipper, Donovan Ferreira, walked in with a lot of intent and showed some fight, scoring a couple of boundaries but Faheem Ashraf bowled a superb slower delivery to deceive him and picked George Linde in the very next delivery. Corbin Bosch, though, hung till the end, scored 14 runs off the over and helped his team end with a respectable total. However, we feel it is well short on this surface and South Africa's inexperienced bowling attack need to bowl a lot of slower deliveries and make the most of the runs on the board.

So, 14 runs off the over as South Africa crawl their way to 139. Well below-par on a pitch which offered something to the batters. It was yet another struggle for the Proteas batters. They didn't learn from the 2nd T20I and kept losing wickets regularly. Shaheen Afridi picked two in two in the first over, putting South Africa under tremendous pressure. Reeza Hendricks and Dewald Brevis tried to revive the innings but the latter struggled and gave away his wicket.

Pitch Report - JP Duminy says that the surface looks and feels similar to yesterday, but success hinges on who uses it best. Pacers grabbed 9 of 10 wickets last night, and while South Africa aimed at the top of off in the first match, the change of pace was highly effective yesterday.

Donovan Ferreira, the skipper of South Africa, says that the team must start strong with the bat to set the tone, tailored to the surface. They have plans and aim to execute tonight. Says that there are a few changes as Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Andile Simelane, and Lizaad Williams come in.

Salman Agha, the skipper of Pakistan, says that it is 5-0 in tosses now and that Pakistan won both tosses in the Tests as well. They will bowl first. He adds that dew is expected in the second innings and admits they didn’t read the conditions well in the first T20, but they did in the second match. He says that the previous night a complete game, praising both bowling and batting. He emphasizes that a 50-run powerplay sets up a strong start. Ends by mentioning the changes and says that Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed have rested, while Shaheen Afridi and Usman Tariq played.

Pakistan (Playing XI) - Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Salman Agha (C), Usman Khan (WK), Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Afridi (In for Abrar Ahmed), Usman Tariq (In for Naseem Shah).

With the series tied, everything comes down to this one last game. Will Pakistan's pace attack continue its dominance, or will the Proteas' batters find their form when it matters most? Get ready for a high-stakes, action-packed encounter as both teams battle it out for the title! Toss and team news to follow shortly...

For South Africa, the challenge is clear, bounce back from a disappointing batting display. Only Dewald Brevis managed to reach double figures in the second T20I. They might consider changes, possibly bringing back pacer Lizaad Williams or introducing batsman Lhuan-dre Pretorius, to inject some stability and firepower. The tourists know they have the quality to challenge Pakistan, as shown by their convincing win in the first match, and they'll be desperate to finish the tour with a trophy.

Pakistan's bowlers were the heroes of the last game, with pacers Salman Mirza, Faheem Ashraf, and Naseem Shah ripping through the South African batting line-up, bowling them out for a mere 110. In response, opener Saim Ayub's blistering, unbeaten 71 led the chase, ensuring a commanding nine-wicket victory. The hosts will likely stick to this winning combination, hoping to replicate their bowling brilliance and maintain their batting momentum. They will also be celebrating Babar Azam, who, in the process of guiding the team home, became the leading run-scorer in T20I history.

The stage is set for a thrilling finale! After two one-sided contests, Pakistan and South Africa clash in Lahore for the series decider of the three-match T20I series. With the series currently level at 1-1, all eyes are on Gaddafi Stadium for what promises to be an exciting conclusion to the tour. The Proteas dominated the opener, but the Men in Green staged a remarkable comeback in the second match, setting the scene perfectly for this showdown.

... MATCH DAY ...

The 3rd T20I between Pakistan and South Africa promises to be an electrifying encounter, with the series currently locked at 1-1. After South Africa's convincing win in the first match, Pakistan bounced back with a comprehensive victory in the second T20I, leveling the series. In their last outing, Pakistan's bowling unit showed signs of improvement, with Salman Mirza making a notable impact by taking 3 wickets for just 14 runs in 4 overs, while Faheem Ashraf continued to impress with a four-wicket haul. However, for Pakistan to seal the series, they'll need their batting lineup to fire on all cylinders, particularly the top order, which has shown glimpses of brilliance but needs consistency. On the other hand, South Africa's batting, despite some standout performances, has been inconsistent, and they'll need to work on building strong partnerships to post a competitive total. The Proteas' bowling attack also looked vulnerable in the second T20I, and they'll need to step up their game in both departments if they hope to win the series. With both teams eager to claim victory, today's match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is set to be a thrilling decider.
