Commentary

More action to come - Up next in Bristol is a high-stakes clash between West Indies and Ireland, with the first ball scheduled for 1.30 pm GMT. A Windies win will seal their place in the semifinals and shut the door on both Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Those two sides, therefore, will be hoping Ireland can pull off an upset. Our build-up is already up and running, so switch tabs and join us there. Cheers!

The skipper of Pakistan Women - Fatima Sana says she is really proud of her team and credits each and every player for the way they turned up for this game. She singles out Ayesha Zafar for praise, calling her a senior player who knows how to take responsibility and saying she did that really well today. She also has kind words for Gull Feroza, saying she batted brilliantly. On her own contribution with the ball, she says as an all-rounder, she tries to give her best and hopes it goes in the team's favour. About their struggles while batting, she is honest, saying there is plenty to work on and there will be a lot of discussions once they get back home. She is confident they will put in the work and come back as a stronger unit.

The captain of Netherlands Women - Babette de Leede says the bowlers were excellent and did a really good job of restricting Pakistan to 126. She admits it was frustrating with the bat. Mentions that playing against some of the best teams in the world is crucial for the side's development and provides invaluable experience. Babette describes their maiden Women's T20 World Cup campaign as an incredible experience, says they will take plenty away from it, and believes this is only the beginning for them. She points out that only a couple of players in the squad are professional cricketers and, considering that, says she is immensely proud of what the team has achieved.

Time for a chat with the captains...

Set up, but not cashed in - Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Pakistan got the better of the middle phase of the innings, but the finish left much to be desired. The 79-run stand between Gull Feroza and Ayesha Zafar laid a decent platform to kick on, but once the Dutch broke that partnership, they burst through with regular wickets and shut the door on any late flourish.

No way out - In pursuit of 127, the Netherlands began with promise as Heather Siegers got them off the blocks quickly before Pakistan hit back by removing both openers. From there, Pakistan's spinners took complete control of the middle overs and never allowed the chase to gather momentum. Babette de Leede fought a lone battle, but even she could not break free as Pakistan's spinners kept a firm stranglehold on the innings and put the game beyond the Dutch.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Gull Feroza takes home the award for her unbeaten knock of 63 runs from 52 balls. Feroza is all smiles, and she says it was an important knock not only for her but also for her team. When asked about the pitch, she says the pitch was a little tricky, and the plan was to stay in and rotate the strike. When wickets fell, she says they had to adjust their approach on the go, but they made the most of the bad balls they received. On the mindset coming into the game, she says the goal was simple - to win and finish the tournament on a good note, and she feels this victory means a great deal to the group. She signs off with a warm message to the fans, thanking them for coming out and backing Pakistan throughout the tournament.

Pakistan sign off with a win - Made to work hard with the bat, Pakistan left a few runs out there, but their bowling unit more than made up for it with a clinical performance. The disappointment is evident on the faces of Babette de Leede and her teammates as they walk out to shake hands. It was a commendable effort from the Dutch with the ball to restrict Pakistan to 126, but they just could not find a way out of Pakistan's spin choke. Still, there is plenty for them to be proud of from their maiden Women's T20 World Cup campaign, and they walk over to acknowledge the travelling Orange Army for their unwavering support.

OUT! BOWLED! You miss, I hit says the Pakistani captain. Sana gets the job done for her side with a triple-wicket maiden. She gets her third wicket as she has torn apart the Dutch lower order. Pakistan Women win by 37 runs and end their tournament with a comprehensive win. Good length on off and middle from Fatima. Caroline de Lange stays leg side of the ball, looking to flat bat it down the ground. She gives it a big swing but gets nowhere near it, and the stumps are splayed behind her.

17.50

Goes for the yorker but it comes out as a low full toss, on the pads. Caroline fails to get it away and wears it on the pads.

17.40

No hat-trick. Keeps it full and straight, on middle. Caroline de Lange presents the full face of the bat and blocks it out.

Caroline de Lange walks in next. A slip in place for the hat-trick ball.

17.3W

OUT! KNOCKED HER OVER! Two in two for Fatima and she is guiding Pakistan to a victory now. She simply keeps the line of attack on the stumps and lands it quite fuller. Silver Siegers backs away to make room, swings wildly at it, only to miss. The ball beats the bat and crashes into the stumps behind. Netherlands Women are on the brink as they are 89/9, needing 38 runs from 15 balls.

Silver Siegers is in next.

17.2W

OUT! BOWLED! Sana dismisses her opposite number through a sizzling delivery. Lasers in a yorker on off at 103.6 kph. De Leede stays deep in the crease and looks to dig it out but the bat simply does not come down in time. The ball sneaks through and crashes into the base of the off stump. Fatima lets out a big roar and punches the air in delight. That should be the game for Pakistan as the Dutch skipper departs after a painstakingly scratchy knock.

17.10

Back of a length, on top of leg. Babette de Leede goes across to play the scoop shot but misses to connect.

Hannah Landheer walks out to bat. Pace back on through the skipper Fatima Sana.

OUT! ZWILLING IS RUN OUT! Fortunes favouring Pakistan as a complete mix-up cost the Dutch another wicket. Low full toss from Zafar and this is driven hard and straight by de Leede, but Zwilling is right in the firing line at the non-striker's end and takes a blow on the left thigh. The ball ricochets to the left of the bowler. De Leede wants the run immediately. Zwilling is still wincing and barely moves but sacrifices her wicket to protect the skipper. Zafar is onto it in a flash, feeds Muneeba at the stumps, and that is all she needs to whip the bails off.

16.50

Cannot connect yet again! Nicely tossed up, full and around off, Babette de Leede goes down to play the sweep shot, but the ball dips, drops, turns away and bounce over her bat.

16.40

Beaten! Short and outside off with extra bounce. Babette de Leede goes for the late cut, but is beaten on the outside edge.

16.31

A lot fuller, on off, Iris drives it along the ground to long off for a single.

The new batter is Iris Zwilling.

16.2W

OUT! CAUGHT! So after a couple of errors in the field, Jabeen takes a stunner. Short and wide outside off from Zafar. Overdijk rocks back and cuts it away, but cannot keep it along the ground and hits it uppishly in front of square. Saira from cover-point moves swiftly to her left and flings herself into a dive to complete a very good catch on the edge of the ring.

16.14

FOUR! Very clumsy. A schoolboy error in the deep! Flighted on off. Overdijk steps out and drills it with the spin towards wide long on. Fatima Sana on the boundary misfields badly, letting it slip between her legs and into the fence behind her.

IN THE AIR AND DROPPED! Nashra Sundhu makes a mess of that chance. Drops it full on middle and leg, sliding in. Babette de Leede sits down to slog it over the fence, but gets it mistimed toward deep mid-wicket. Sundhu runs in off the ropes, but cannot put the brakes on in time and the ball pops in and out of her hands. Two runs taken.

15.41

Too full, looped up wide outside off. Frederique Overdijk moves across and drills it down to long off for a single.

It looks like Sadia Iqbal has pulled a muscle in her left leg. The physio is out to have a look.

15.31

Full on the pads, Babette de Leede steps out and whips it to deep mid-wicket for a single.

15.21

Good length outside off, Overdijk guides it to the right of short third for a quick run.

Commentary

Welcome back for the second innings. Netherlands Women are chasing history as their openers - Heather Siegers and Phebe Molkenboer - walk out to the middle. And it will be Sadia Iqbal to bowl the first over. Heather to face the first ball. Here we go...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

The chase awaits - With Heather Siegers back at the top of the order, the Netherlands have the resources to chase this down. But with the prospect of a maiden Women's T20 World Cup win, nerves could yet play a part, and they will have to keep them in check. Pakistan, meanwhile, will feel that if they can strike early, they can seize control of the game. A crucial Powerplay awaits, with both sides eager to bow out of the tournament with a victory. Stick around as the chase is coming up in a bit.

A quick word - Iris Zwilling says the message for the entire tournament has been to hit the deck hard and avoid floating the ball up into the slot. She is pleased that they managed to execute those plans in this game. On how challenging the tournament has been for the bowling department, she calls it an interesting one. She says the Netherlands have been playing on very good batting pitches throughout, and that is not the kind of experience they are used to back home. She says it was something they had to adjust to pretty quickly, adapting both to the batters they were facing and the grounds they were playing on. She is pleased they managed to restrict Pakistan to a low total today. On chasing 127, she says she is still running on adrenaline from the bowling innings. She backs the batting unit fully, saying they have shown throughout this tournament that they are more than capable, and feels the target is well within arm's reach.

A finish that never came - It was a sedate start from Pakistan after being asked to bat first, before Ayesha Zafar and Gull Feroza helped them finish the Powerplay strongly and carried that momentum into the middle overs. With two set batters at the crease, Pakistan looked well placed to launch in the final phase, but the Netherlands struck at regular intervals to derail their plans. Even the promotion of Fatima Sana did not provide the desired impetus, while Gull Feroza watched wickets tumble at the other end as the late flourish never quite arrived.

Pakistan end on 126 - A job well done by the Dutch to finish strongly. At 88/1 with 9 wickets in hand and 7 overs remaining, Pakistan looked on course for a much bigger total, but 38/5 in the final 7 overs meant that they had to settle for 126.

Good finish from Zwilling and the Netherlands after having conceded 200 or more in their last three matches. Length-delivery, outside the off stump. Tuba Hassan throws her bat at it but gets no connection. A dot to end the over! Pakistan Women finish on 126/6.

19.51

In the air... falls safely! Good length, around off. 90.7 kph. Feroza swings her bat across the line, but mistimes it straight up in the air. The ball luckily lands in the vacant mid on region for a single.

19.41

A touch short, on off. Hassan clears the front leg and looks to loft it over mid off, but mistimes it off the toe end. Chips it in the air, but it lands just short of Robine Rijke at mid off. One run.

19.34

FOUR! Welcome runs for Pakistan. Back of a length, just outside off. Tuba Hassan creates room to access the off side. Tries to smash it through cover, but gets a massive outside edge and the ball shoots through to the deep third fence.

19.22

DROPPED! Robine Rijke has got it all wrong. A good length ball outside off. Tuba gets under the ball and slams it uppishly off the toe end. Rijke at mid off goes for the catch with fingers pointing upwards, but gets her feet in a tangle and loses her balance. The ball bursts through her hands and rolls away. Two runs.

Tuba Hassan comes out to the middle.

19.1W

OUT! CAUGHT! An ideal start to the final over for the Dutch. Shaping away a touch, full and on off. Saira swings at it but gets a top edge, and it is skied towards mid off, where Robine Rijke backpedals and settles under the skier to take a reverse cup catch. From being 102/2, Pakistan are now 118/6.

FOUR! A boundary after 16 balls for Pakistan. Goes full and around the off stump. Jabeen skips out and hammers it over the fielder at mid off for a boundary.

18.40

A big, lengthy appeal for LBW, but not given. Babette de Leede doesn't waste any time reviewing it. Length ball around middle, sharply turning back in. Jabeen hangs back and looks to pull, but misses it on the inside edge, getting struck high on the back thigh pad. De Leede sends it upstairs. Nothing on UltraEdge. The ball is clipping the top of the leg stump on umpire's Call. Saira Jabeen survives by the skin of her teeth.

Saira Jabeen is in at number 7.

18.3W

OUT! STUMPED! Feroza stays stranded as she loses partners at the other end. Heather spots Iram advancing out of the crease and fires in a length ball, outside off, drifting away. Javed is far out of the crease, throws her hands at it but gets beaten on the outside edge. The keeper, Babette de Leede, does the rest behind the stumps with Javed nowhere close to the crease. Pakistan Women are 113/5, with 9 balls left in the innings.

18.21

PUT DOWN! Hannah Landheer is the guilty party and Heather is not happy with the effort at all. Lands it full and in front of the sticks. Gull Feroza goes for the slog sweep, but gets her timing all wrong. The deep square leg fielder is a bit late to charge in off the ropes, dives forward but cannot cling on to it as the ball pops out of her hands. One taken.

15.52

15.11

A direct hit would have been curtains for de Leede! Full and on off. Babette de Leede gets across to whip it to the leg side, but closes the bat face early and a top edge is found. It gets popped up and drops in front of backward point. The batters are a bit late to get through for a single and seeing Babette struggling to get to the bowling end, the fielder picks up and throws it to that end, but misses her shy.

A double-wicket maiden from Zafar, just when her team needed it most. Netherlands Women need 51 runs in 30 balls and the required run rate has shot up over 10 runs per over.

OUT! STUMPED! Sanya Khurana is gone this time. Flatter and shorter, outside off. A premeditated charge by Khurana to force it down the ground. The ball keeps going straight to go past the outside edge. Khurana is well out of her crease and stands no chance of a return. Muneeba Ali does the rest by breaking the stumps. Ali has a glance at the square leg umpire before breaking into a smile.

14.30

Sanya Khurana is safe. Zafar offers flight, on a length, around off. Khurana reaches out in front to push it down the ground. The ball goes past the outside edge, and her back leg gets dragged out of the crease. Muneeba Ali whips the bails off in a flash and is pretty confident in her appeal. The third umpire is summoned for a check. The replays confirm that Khurana managed to get some part of her back leg inside the crease before the stumps were broken. Muneeba is not happy with the decision and is having an argument with the square leg umpire.

Is Sanya stumped out? Muneeba thinks so and Pakistan are already celebrating. But the decision is sent upstairs for a review. After checking three angles, the third umpire deems that Khurana's back leg gets in the crease just in the nick of time, before Ali dislodges the bails. NOT OUT!

14.20

Drags it back, on off. Khurana punches it to cover.

Babette de Leede is stranded at the other end, seeing wickets fall from the other. Sanya Khurana is in at number 6. She played a good hand against the Proteas, scoring 36. So she can bat well but can she handle the pressure here?

OUT! LBW! That's pretty straight, and the finger is raised. Robine Rijke does not bother to take the review. Loopy ball, on middle. Rijke tries to work it across the line, but the ball dips on her and sneaks under the bat before hitting the back pad right in front of the stumps. Pakistan strike right after the break. The Netherlands Women are 76/4, needing 51 runs from 35 balls.

DRINKS BREAK! The game is nicely poised at the moment with Netherlands Women needing 51 runs from 36 balls. It's not difficult at all, but a lot depends on Babette de Leede as she is the set batter in the middle. However, she didn't have a fluent start, but will feel a lot more confident after hitting a couple of boundaries in the 13th over. Pakistan know that dismissing the Dutch captain will bring them on top as their middle order has been quite vulnerable throughout the tournament. Pakistan have done well to stem the flow of runs in this middle overs and will look to keep picking wickets. Ayesha Zafar (1-0-8-0) will continue after the break.

DRINKS BREAK. The Netherlands have managed to put an end to a partnership that was looking threatening. But with Feroza still out there and well-settled, Pakistan will have their eyes on a total somewhere around 140 to 150. The Dutch haven't bowled that badly, but their fielding lapses have cost them a few more runs than they would have liked. They would aim to keep picking up wickets to prevent Pakistan from getting a lift-off toward the end. Captain Fatima Sana is the new batter in at number 4.

Alright then, the anthems are sung proudly. It is now time to get the game underway. The umpires are already out in the middle. Babette de Leede has her troops in a huddle. Now, they spring out to the park and take their fielding spots. Out walks the Pakistani opening pair. Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali walk to the crease. Iris Zwilling is ready to bowl the first over of the match. Muneeba is on strike. Here we go...

Time for the national anthems - The giant flags of both countries are unfurled in the middle. The match officials walk out, and right after them, the two captains lead their respective groups and get lined up for the anthems. It will be the Netherlands' first, followed by Pakistan's.

Let's hear it from Phebe Molkenboer - Reflecting on her opening partnership against South Africa, Molkenboer says it was great fun on what was a good pitch to bat on, with a quick outfield helping value for shots. On growing up in a sporting family, Molkenboer says, as a child, she spent plenty of time playing different sports during the holidays and always enjoyed being active. Mentions that playing against some of the biggest names in the tournament has been an amazing experience. As a young player, her focus is on performing to the best of her ability while learning from watching those world-class players bat and bowl up close.

A quick chat with Ayesha Zafar - She admits it has not been the tournament Pakistan wanted, but says they have taken plenty of learnings out of it, particularly in the batting department. She says watching players from other teams step up to the occasion has given them a benchmark to aim for. On her own batting, she is honest, saying she has failed to get going and wants more innings to develop her game and figure out how to build an innings the right way. She adds that in T20 cricket, it is all about how much you can give back to your team, and if she can contribute with a few overs and support the bowling unit, that would mean a lot to her. When asked about the influence of Sana Mir's mentorship, Zafar is full of praise for Mir, calling her a star. She says she is always there when Pakistan need her, stays in constant contact with the players and the captain, and has a way of pulling you out of your shell when you are feeling low.

PITCH REPORT - Natalie Germanos says Bristol has experienced a few very hot days in the lead-up to this match, but today offers some respite, with a high of 27 degrees Celsius and a nice cool breeze blowing across the ground. Mentions that the square boundaries measure 62 and 59 metres, while it is 70 metres straight down the ground. Alan Wilkins shares that throughout the tournament, spinners have extracted plenty of bounce from the pitches and expects that to be the case again today. Overall, he feels it is a surface that will have something in it for everyone.

Netherlands Women (Playing XI) - Heather Siegers (In for Myrthe van den Raad), Phebe Molkenboer, Babette de Leede (C/WK), Sterre Kalis, Robine Rijke, Sanya Khurana, Frederique Overdijk, Iris Zwilling, Hannah Landheer, Caroline de Lange and Silver Siegers.

Pakistan Women (Playing XI) - Gull Feroza, Muneeba Ali (WK), Ayesha Zafar, Saira Jabeen, Iram Javed, Fatima Sana (C), Eyman Fatima (In for Aliya Riaz), Tuba Hassan (In for Rameen Shamim), Nashra Sundhu, Diana Baig and Sadia Iqbal.

The captain of Netherlands Women - Babette de Leede says they have some good game plans for this game, having played their last game at the same venue. She admits that they have faced some tough nations in the tournament and believes today is the day they can pick up their first win. On what will be key to signing off with a victory, she says discipline will be massive. She stresses the importance of hitting the right areas with the ball and being sharp in the field, admitting that dropped catches have cost them in the tournament so far. She is aware of the quality Pakistan's batting lineup possesses and says getting their top order out early and restricting the total will be crucial. On changes, she confirms Heather Siegers comes back into the side in place of Myrthe van den Raad.

The captain of Pakistan Women - Fatima Sana says that it looks like a good batting wicket, so they wanted to put runs on the board after winning the toss. She adds that, with nothing to lose, the plan is to play positive, attacking cricket. Fatima also says the team has spoken about the number of run-outs they have conceded and will be looking to improve in that area. On the team news, she confirms that they have made two changes with Aliya Riaz and Rameen Shamim making way.

TOSS - It is almost time for the coin flip. The weather looks pleasant in Bristol with a bit of cloud cover. Both captains - Fatima Sana and Babette de Leede - are out in the middle. Sana spins the coin. Babette calls Tails, but it lands as Heads. Pakistan Women have opted to BAT first.

The Dutch seek a fitting farewell - The Netherlands, debuting in the global event, came into this tournament knowing a steep learning curve awaited them, and the results have reflected exactly that. They can finish as high as the fifth spot in Group A, but will be missing out on automatic qualification for the next edition of the T20 World Cup, a chance that slipped away over the course of the league stage. But with both sides winless heading into this game, the Dutch have as good a chance to avoid the wooden spoon and to end their campaign on a note worth remembering. Stay tuned as the toss and teams are up next very shortly.

An aim to avoid an unwanted record - Early exits have become a familiar story for Pakistan across all ten editions of this tournament, but even in their worst campaigns, they have almost always had a win to show for their efforts. The exceptions are 2009 and 2010, and since these years, every Pakistan side has managed to avoid that particular indignity. Fatima Sana's team now stands one defeat away from joining that unwanted club. They have lost seven consecutive T20 World Cup matches now, dating back to the 2024 edition and have a lot of soul-searching to do, especially in the batting department. Can they finally get the job done with the bat? We shall find out.

Knocked out, but not finished - The penultimate day of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 league stage arrives with the semifinal race still wide open, and three of the four spots unresolved and a triple-header packed Saturday. Bristol hosts the opening two games before the action moves entirely to London for the rest of the tournament. The day kicks off with Pakistan and the Netherlands, two sides already eliminated but with plenty of pride left to play for. West Indies and Ireland follow next, which will also be the last game at Bristol in this tournament. The day then closes in London with England taking on New Zealand, a very spicy fixture in the making. But first, for Pakistan and the Dutch, it’s all about avoiding a tournament whitewash and signing off with at least one win.

... MATCH DAY ...

Chance to bow out with pride - Four played, four lost. That is the shared reality Pakistan and the Netherlands carry into the 26th match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup at the Bristol County Ground. Both sides have already been shown the door in terms of qualification, and there is no pressure of points or net run rate to play for. What remains is something simpler and in many ways harder to hold onto, the chance to leave this tournament with at least one good day to look back on. An age-old problem - Pakistan's tournament has been a familiar kind of difficult. Three of their four defeats have come while chasing, and their batting has been the story throughout, for all the wrong reasons. The highest they have managed across any of their four innings is 126, a figure that has rarely been enough at this level and was not enough here either. What makes it more concerning is the context behind that number. In their entire Women's T20 World Cup history, Pakistan have never successfully chased down more than 127. That is not just a tournament problem. It is a pattern that has followed this side across editions Get your basics right. That is what coaches drum into you from the moment you walk through the academy gates, day after day, session after session, until it becomes instinct. It sounds simple. It sounds obvious. But the moment those basics slip, everything else tends to follow. Pakistan's problems in this tournament have been largely of their own making, and the numbers make for uncomfortable reading. Eight run outs across four matches. Two per game on average. The cost has shown up in the scorecard in the most direct way possible. Not a single Pakistan batter has crossed 100 runs in this edition, with Muneeba Ali's 98 and captain Fatima Sana's 82 standing as the only contributions worth speaking of. Two players carrying the weight of an entire batting unit is never a sustainable position, and in this tournament, it has not been. Want to leave a bit of an Oranje - For the Netherlands, this is their maiden T20 World Cup, and the learnings from this campaign will matter far more than the results. Playing against stronger opposition has handed them a reality check, and that experience, however difficult, is invaluable at this stage of their development as a cricketing nation. Like Pakistan, batting has been their weak point, and like Pakistan, three of their four defeats have come while chasing. Skipper Babette de Leede has been their standout performer with the bat, 145 runs and counting, but the support has simply not arrived around her. Sterre Kalis is the next best, and after those two, the drop-off is steep. The bowling has offered little relief either. The Netherlands are among the sides to have taken the fewest wickets in the tournament, and they have conceded 200-plus in three consecutive outings when bowling first. That is a pattern that speaks to a unit still finding its footing at this level. Though they have been able to put on some isolated fighting moments, a much more collective effort is what they would be aiming at in their last game. Team form (Last 5 completed T20Is, recent first) - PAK-W - LLLLL | NED-W - LLLLL. Playing for pride at Bristol - This game might not mean much from a tournament’s pov, but both teams will try and work hard to salvage pride. Of the four matches played at this ground so far, three have been won by the side batting second. This will be the first time Pakistan and the Netherlands have met in T20 cricket since April 2011, and the first ever between the two sides at a T20 World Cup. With a win the only thing either side is playing for now, there is enough going on to make this one worth remembering.
