OUT! LBW! A huge appeal and the finger is raised as Tabraiz Shamsi strikes on his very first delivery. Shayan Jahangir has a chat with Andries Gous at the other end and the review is taken. Shamsi tosses this one up a lot slower at around 80 clicks and floats it on middle stump. Jahangir looks to come forward and just work it on the leg side but the ball turns in and Jahangir plays all over it getting hit plumb in front. Slightly fuller and attacking the stumps, Nitish Kumar gets an inside edge off the pads and the ball rolls behind point as the batters scamper across for a run. Positive batting and running from the USA batter so far.

SIX! Stand and deliver! That is a fantastic shot from Nitish Kumar. On a hard length and around middle, Kumar just holds his shape and picks up the ball, smoking it well over wide long on for a 95-meter behemoth.

Short of a good length and around off stump, some extra bounce there as well, Nitish Kumar watchfully blocks it off the back foot.

On a good length and attacking the stumps, Andries Gous looks to heave across the line but miscues it off the inner half of the bat behind square leg.

Oh, that one almost carried back to Kagiso Rabada. Slightly pitched up and on the stumps, Andries Gous looks to get on the front foot but the ball holds in the pitch and Gous gets it off the sticker of the bat but well in front of the bowler.

On a good length and angling back in from middle, Nitish Kumar misses the flick and the ball goes off the pads on the leg side. Andries Gous calls him for a quick run and after some hesitation Nitish responds and they get a leg bye.

OUT! CAUGHT! Steven Taylor trying to replicate his shot from the previous over but this one isn't full enough. Kagiso Rabada hits the deck and bowls it over the stumps, Taylor stands tall and looks to pummel it over the mid off region but miscues it badly. The ball gets lobbed up and Heinrich Klaasen at mid off scampers toward the ball and takes a good diving catch. Kagiso gets the first wicket for South Africa and Taylor departs after a fine start.

Quicker from Kagiso Rabada and following the batter down leg with a shortish delivery. Andries Gous gets cramped for room and takes a blow to the body. The ball rolls away and the batters pick up a quick leg bye.

FOUR! That is a stunning shot! Overpitched from Kagiso Rabada at the stumps, Andries Gous goes after him right away and plays a lovely high-elbow straight drive. This is hit uppishly but races away past the bowler and into the fence.

After just one over of spin from Aiden Markram, Kagiso Rabada replaces him.

A low full toss now, angling it in from around middle, Steven Taylor flicks the ball straight to the man at mid-wicket.

A slower bumper now, directed at the batter's head and Steven Taylor is beaten on the hook shot. No wide called either and Taylor is not happy.

Ali Khan bowls it a bit full and at the stumps, Stubbs switches his position and plays the reverse scoop right back over the keeper's head with good timing and the ball goes into the ropes. South Africa finish with a huge total of 194/4 on the board!

Really well bowled that by Ali Khan. Heinrich Klaasen looks to back away and open up the off side by Ali Khan follows him with a yorker and Klaasen can only jam it out back past the bowler for a single towards mid off.

Close but not close enough! Ali Khan goes full and straight and gets it right in the blockhole. Heinrich Klaasen hangs deep in the crease and drills the ball down to long on and straight away calls for two. The batters push hard and the fielder picks up the ball and throws it at the keeper's end. The bails are whipped off by the keeper and the umpires go upstairs. The replays show that Klaasen had made his ground and it will be NOT OUT.

SIX! Picked-up and dispatched! Banged in well short and over middle, sitting up nicely for the batter. Heinrich Klaasen gets in position early and pulls it a bit off the top edge and gets enough power as the ball sails over the square leg fence.

Banged in short and at the batter, Tristan Stubbs gets on top of the bounce and pulls it to the right of the man at deep mid-wicket for one more.

Attempted yorker on middle, just missing by a couple of inches and Heinrich Klaasen powers it down to long on for a single.

Immaculate bowling from Saurabh Netravalkar and only 6 runs come off the penultimate over of the innings. Full and right in the blockhole around off, this time Tristan Stubbs hangs deep in the crease and looks to go over long on but toe-ends it back to the bowler.

A hat-trick of dots and Tristan Stubbs is trying too many things out there. Full and wide again, angled well across the right-hander, Stubbs walks across the off stump and looks to slog it over backward square leg but gets in a tangle and gets hit on the pads.

Another golden dot and that is brilliant execution from Saurabh Netravalkar. Tristan Stubbs is early to go across the off stump and Netravalkar is able to get the wide yorker even wider and the ball sneaks under Stubbs' willow.

Full and wide angled across the right-hander and this one is right on the money. Tristan Stubbs cue-ends it back to the keeper who makes a sharp stop diving to his right.

A low full toss, wide of the off stump, Tristan Stubbs reaches out and slaps it away wide of long off where Nitish Kumar sprints across to his left and dives in to save a couple of runs for his side.

EDGED AND FOUR! Slower delivery from over the stumps, a touch fuller and angling it across the right-hander. Tristan Stubbs hangs back and looks to hammer it on the off side but gets a thick outside edge that goes well wide of the keeper and rolls away into the third man fence.

Mentions that the change is purely because of the condition and Ottneil Baartman is unlucky to miss out today.

Aaron Jones, the stand-in skipper of USA says that they will bowl first. Reckons it will be a good wicket and if anything, the seamers will get the most out of it right at the start. Informs that they are going in with the extra spinner. Adds that the wicket seems similar to Dallas and it will play well and will look to bowl well upfront. Monank Patel is still missing out due to a shoulder injury.

South Africa on the other hand have arrived in the Super 8 with a 100 percent win record. They set the tone right from the get-go as they demolished Sri Lanka to start their campaign. The side then defeated the other three sides in their group but none of those victories were convincing. The batters have had a torrid time playing in the States and failed to adjust to the conditions in the Windies in their last game but they would be delighted to move to the Windies for the remaining games. The bowling has looked superb for them with Anrich Nortje gaining some form while others doing the clean-up around him but it is the batting that needs to step up and take some responsibility now. The likes of Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen and Reeza Hendricks have yet to score something significant while the form of David Miller and Tristan Stubbs, in particular, has been a positive for them. It’s been a fabulous past couple of months for USA in the history of cricket as they won a bilateral series against Bangladesh in preparation for this World Cup and when the time arrived they defeated Canada and Pakistan to advance to the Super 8. They had a fair bit of luck their way as well with them earning a crucial point against Ireland in their last group-stage game. The side has showcased its gritty nature and has won those crunch moments in their first two games. Skipper Monank Patel has led the side brilliantly and has impressed all with the way he has marshaled his troops. Steven Taylor, Andries Gous, Aaron Jones and Nitish Kumar have batted well while Corey Anderson and Harmeet Singh are yet to shine as finishers. One of the stories of this World Cup has been the way Saurabh Netravalkar has performed and scalped the big fishes throughout the tournament so far. Ali Khan, Nosthush Kenjige and Jessy Singh have given Saurabh Netravalkar the much-needed support from the other end. The team looks balanced and they would be itching to rub shoulders against the Proteas.
