Commentary

That is it from this game then! Another game follows and that is a clash between Zimbabwe and Ireland! Stay tuned for that one as it will begin shortly. Until next time, take care and goodbye!

Richie Berrington says it was hard work and it is a special win for them. Adds they wanted a few more runs but they knew they had a competitive score on the board. Credits the way the bowlers bowled and he is very pleased.

Nicholas Pooran says it is a tough loss for them. Reckons, 160 was a par score but the middle order was quite poor. Admits they need to play better in the coming games which are must-win. States they are looking forward for the next games.

George Munsey. MAN OF THE MATCH SAYS, the injury is not that okay and they will see what they have to do in the coming days. Adds they gave it their all in the field and Mark Watt was brilliant. Reckons it got trickier to bat as the ball went old but he enjoyed it at the start.

... TIME FOR THE PRESENTATION ...

Earlier in the day, after being inserted, Scotland posted a decent total of 160 thanks to a really good effort by Munsey. However, that score seemed under par at first but a brilliant effort by the ball and some poor batting meant, it was Scotland who finished on top.

West Indies will be very disappointed with their performace! They were extremely poor with the bat. They were off to a good start but post the 6th over, they lost wickets in heaps. After the top three, just the one batter crossed the 10-run mark and that was Holder. The game just came all down to his performance but it was too much of an ask from him. In the end, they have fallen short by a big margin.

YET ANOTHER UPSET! Windies have been beaten by Scotland and quite convincingly. A brilliant performance with the ball by them. They began brilliantly as they got a wicket early in the Powerplay but it was the overs after the Powerplay that was good. The likes of Watt and Michael Leask really made run-scoring tough and both got crucial wickets. They finished with 5 between them and and only gave away 26 in the 8 overs bowled by them. Those 8 overs really turned the game completely in the favor of Scotland and the pacers backed up the good job and ensured their side came out on top.

18.3W

OUT! TAKEN! There it is! There is the final wicket and that is the win for Scotland! A remarkable performance by them! A full one on off, Holder looks to go downtown but does not hit it that well. It is taken by the fielder at long off, Chris Greaves! SCOTLAND WIN BY 42 RUNS!

18.21

Obed McCoy gets Holder back on strike! Outside off, he swings, it goes off the outside edge down to third man for one.

18.11

On middle, this is hit down to long on for one.

OUT! TAKEN! The big hitting Odean Smith has to walk back! It is all slipping away way too quickly for the Windies. He steps out and makes room. Watt slows it up and lands it outside off. It is hit uppishly but towards long off where Chris Greaves takes an easy catch. Holder now probably has to do it all by himself. Would be a miracle.

16.11

15.40

Short and down the leg side, Holder looks to pull but misses. Dots are gold.

15.36

SIX! Sails into the crowd! You can score heavily in the last few overs here. The boundary s short on that side. On middle, Holder heaves it over the mid-wicket fence for a biggie. Windies need a few more of these.

15.21

Just the one! Singles won't harm Scotland! Outside off, shorter, this is cut through point for one.

15.10

Swing and a miss! Length and outside off, Smith looks to go big down the ground but misses.

Commentary

... RUN CHASE ...

Now the wicket is a decent one to bat on and Windies will back themselves to chase this down. However, we did see Namibia defend something similar in the first game of the World Cup and Scotland will know if they get early wickets, they are well and truly in this game. Can they do so?

West Indies were not that great with the new ball but post the 6, they really executed their plans well. The likes of Holder, Alzarri Joseph and Odean Smith were really good with the short balls. Alzarri Joseph and Jason Holder were easily the pick. Except for his last over Smith did a really good job. The likes of Obed McCoy and Mayers though went for a few. Still though, West Indies will be pleased with how they managed to pull things back.

Scotland have got themselves to a competitive score but pretty sure they would have wanted a lot more especially after the start they got off too. They were going at around 9 per over in the Powerplay but after the rain break, they just could not go on with the same momentum. They lost wickets at regular intervals and scoring was also not easy. A few batters in the middle order got off to starts but could not go on. Munsey played throughout but he too slowed down after the break and quite drastically. He did get to a half ton but he won't be very pleased with it. Still though, they have a decent score on the board.

EDGY FOUR! That flies off the outside edge and down to the third man fence! A boundary to end and that is a big last over. Scotland have touched the 160-run mark! This is full and outside off, Munsey swings, it goes off the outside edge and down to the third man fence.

19.61wd

WIDE! A boundary now will do too! Well wide outside off. Left alone.

19.54

FOUR! A gift, a full toss and Munsey puts it away! He slams it down the ground and it races away to the fence. Can he now hit a biggie and help his side cross the 160-run mark?

19.41

Just the one! Shorter and outside off, this is slapped but to covers.

19.30

Dots are godl! Shorter and outside off, Greaves slashes but misses.

19.21

On off, a yorker, it is jammed out towards cover for one.

19.14

FOUR! Finds the gap! A welcome boundary for Munsey and his side! Shorter and on middle, this is pulled wide of mid-wicket for a boundary. A boundary to begin the last. 160 is still possible.

Yes, he does! Just the two. Should have been only a single though! On middle, this is pulled towards deep mid-wicket. They take one. The throw is a wayward one towards the keeper and another run is taken. Still though, a top penultimate over from Alzarri Joseph!

18.51

A yorker on off, this is jammed out through covers for one. Can he end the over well now?

18.41lb

That is brilliant from Pooran! Really good! Short and on off, Greaves looks to pull, it goes off the helmet to the right of Pooran who dives and stops it. He gets back to his feet again and has a shy at the keeper's end but misses. Had he hit, Munsey was gone. A leg bye in the end.

18.31lb

NOT OUT! That is a poor review! It has pitched outside leg. Windies have lost both their reviews now! This is full and on the pads. Munsey looks to play the paddle scoop but misses to get hit on the pads. An appeal but turned down. It rolls on the leg side. A leg bye taken. It is reviewed but in vain. Just the one run from the first three balls.

18.20

A good short one now outside off, Munsey looks to cut but misses.

18.10

NOT OUT! The impact is outside leg! A good review in the end but Munsey will be disappointed he did not put that away! A full toss on the pads, George Munsey swings but misses to get hit on the thigh. An appeal and the finger is raised. Munsey reviews and replays show that he survives to fight another day.

17.40

Goes wide outside off, Greaves looks to go after it but misses.

17.32

TWO MORE! Yet again, Greaves gets into position early to play the sweep shot. This is short, he somehow pulls it wide of fine leg for two.

17.24

FOUR! Not sure what the fine leg fielder did there? Akeal Hosein has not had a good day in the field! He was pushed back to fine leg but he was standing quite ahead of the ropes. This is bowled short. Greaves goes for the pull, it flies off the top edge towards fine leg. Akeal Hosein runs in but then realises he has to go back. Too late as the ball goes over him and into the fence. Two boundaries to begin this over. Can they make this into a big over?

17.14

FOUR! That is nicely played! Chris Greaves goes down on one knee looking for the scoop. He is helped by Obed McCoy who bowls it short and down the leg side. Chris Greaves scoops it over the fielder for a boundary.

16.21

On the pads, this is worked through square leg for one. Fifty for Munsey! He started off really well but has slowed down after the Powerplay. He though would hope he can help his side finish well.

16.21wd

WIDE! Way too short and down the leg side. Left alone. Wided.

16.11

Shorter in length again, Leask pulls, it goes more off the splice towards mid-wicket for one.

Commentary

UPDATE 1034 IST (0504 GMT) - The news just gets better! We have a time! Play is expected to begin at 1045 IST (0515 GMT).

UPDATE 1030 IST (0500 GMT) - GOOD NEWS! The rain has stopped and the covers are coming off. It should not be long before we resume.

We still have some time before we start losing some overs! For now though, the drizzle remains and the covers are firmly on. There seems to be a strong wind blowing so we are hoping it clears quickly.

The plays now make their way off! They are not rushing into the dressing room so that might be signs that it is not that heavy and they expect it to pass by. For now though, we are in for a delay as the covers are on. Let us hpe it is a short one. Also, the Windies might now mind this break, the openers were really giving their bowlers a hammering and a break can just take that momentum away from the batters.
