Mentions, the wicket was a little two paced and they did get a few stands but the guys who get starts need to kick on. Reckons they did feel they were 20-30 short. Mentions they take ever team equally and all the sides are capable of causing an upset. Ends by thanking the supporters.

Shai Hope says they are disappointed with how they played. Admits the fielding let them down and the batting was not upto the mark. Says they know the areas they need to work on now and they will do that.

Sikandar Raza, MAN OF THE MATCH SAYS, they felt they were around 25 to 30 short but they beleived that they can defend this. They never doubted Tendai Chatara, Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani and the fans were exceptional. Ends by thanking them for their support.

... TIME FOR PRESENTATION ...

For West Indies, they will be very disappointed, they probably lost a game they should have won. However, whenever they moved ahead in this game, they were pegged back by the hosts. Kyle Mayers got to a fifty and a few others got off to starts but none of them went onto make it big. However, the Windies were poor throughout, first, they let Zimbabwe off the hook with some poor fielding and bowling towards the end which saw the hosts score close to 270 and then with the bat, they just under performed.

The key was Zimbabwe just fought till the end, they just never gave up and in the end, have come out on top brilliantly. The three, Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani and Sikandar Raza with their wickets in the middle overs got them back into the game and then in the end, it was Tendai Chatara who got the crucial wickets. It was a combined effort and an outstanding performance from the hosts.

Boy oh boy! What a cracker of a game we have witnessed here at Harare Sports Club. The momentum of the game swung like a pendulum from one corner to another and Zimbabwe pulled off an amazing victory here at the end. Agony for the Windies' side as they had the upper hand in the game most of the time!

Commentary

We are back for the chase! Out come the Windies openers, Brandon King and Kyle Mayers! Wellington Masakadza to begin. Here we go...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Now Windies have been brilliant with the bat so far in this tournament and will fancy themselves to chase this down. Zimbabwe on the other hand, will have to bowl well and get early wickets if they are to have a chance. Join us for the chase in a bit.

For Zimbabwe, few of their batters got off to starts but none went onto make it into something significant. Also, the going was slow at the start and wickets at the wrong time for them did not help. Raza did provide the much-needed impetus and when he was batting 280 looked possible but once there were far too many wickets to fall towards the end and they have fallen short of what we feel is a par score.

End of a long and a good bowling performance from the Windies! They will be very pleased with how their bowlers went about things but not their fielders. Had they held onto their catches, they would have kept Zimbabwe to well under 250. Still though, they will be the happier of the two sides heading into the break. The key for them was wickets at regular intervals. They managed to take wickets whenever needed. Except for Holder, everyone had a wicket. Keemo Paul was the pick of the bowlers.

49.51W

OUT! THAT IS THE END OF THE INNINGS! Fuller and on off, this is hit through covers. Blessing Muzarabani wants two and goes for it. Keacy Carty fires it to the bowler who takes the bails off. ZIMBABWE END WITH 268!

West Indies (PLAYING XI) - Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Johnson Charles, Shai Hope (WK/C), Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Keemo Paul, Roston Chase, Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein.

Craig Ervine says the ball might do a bit initially and they need to tackle that well. Adds they are looking forward to this game and informs they are playing the same side.

Nicholas Pooran says they want to bowl first as there might be moisture and they want to exploit it. Informs they are playing the same side.

TOSS - West Indies have won the toss and ELECTED TO FIELD!

It is time for yet another game from the qualifiers and this is a big one, two of the strongest teams from this group will be facing each other. The hosts will be taking on West Indies. The sides have been unbeaten so far and have recorded massive wins. It is the NRR which separate the two and both will be hungry to make it three in a row. The Windies probably are favourites but Zimbabwe, I'm familiar conditions can surely cause an upset. This promises to be a cracker. Stay tuned for the toss and teams.

... MATCH DAY ...

Match number 13 of the 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier is upon us, which sees the host nation Zimbabwe lock horns with the West Indies at the Harare Sports Club. This Group A fixture holds massive importance for both these unbeaten teams, as the winner here might well end the group stage atop. As far as the position in the standings is concerned, both teams have registered two victories each, but it is the West Indies who sit at the top of the standings courtesy of a superior net run rate. Zimbabwe come into this game on the back of a comprehensive 6-wicket victory against the Netherlands. Sikandar Raza was the star with the ball for the hosts, but no support from the rest of the bowling group meant they were set a daunting target of 316 runs. As they face an in-form batting unit in the West Indies, the likes of Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani, and Wellington Masakadza will need to be on top of their game. While chasing against the Netherlands, it was a solid batting display led by the centurion Sikandar Raza that took Zimbabwe over the line in a canter. The left-handed duo of Sean Williams and Craig Ervine have done the bulk of the scoring and would hope for support from Sikandar Raza, Joylord Gumbie, and Wesley Madhevere. On the other hand, the West Indies are coming off back-to-back wins as well, with their most recent one coming against Nepal. Batting first, they were rocked early, but centuries from Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran powered them to a mammoth total of 339 runs. The top three, comprising Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, and Johnson Charles, have failed to impress, and it is about time they step up with the bat. It was a complete bowling effort for the Caribbean side against Nepal, with all the frontline bowlers contributing to the team’s win. The pace trio of Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, and Kyle Mayers have done well with the ball and will be expected to keep up the good work. Will the West Indies keep their winning run intact? Or will it be Zimbabwe who come out on top and claim the top spot? We will find out soon enough.
