Earlier in the game, after electing to bat first, Afghanistan were off to a shaky start yet again as poor run for Rahmanullah Gurbaz continued and he was dismissed early on. Thew side lost three wicket for just 48 but a solid fourth wicket partnership of 54 between Ibrahim Zadran and Mohammad Ishaq steadied things for Afghanistan. Wickets kept tumbling on the other end but Ibrahim Zadran continued his good work and made sure the side scored above 150. Ibrahim Zadran was the top scorer for them as he stayed not out at 72. Mohammad Ishaq and Sediqullah Atal got starts but failed to go big. For Ireland, the bowling was nice and tidy with every bowler used chipping in with a wicket each.

The bowling from Afghanistan was brilliant inside the powerplay as they nailed their plans. The conditions were favoring the seamers and Naveen-ul-Haq and Fazalhaq Farooqi made the ball talk the best way. Azmatullah Omarzai backed up his opening bowlers and picked up a couple in the middle phase giving away next to nothing. Azmatullah Omarzai was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 4 and gave away just 9 runs off his 4 overs. Naveen-ul-Haq picked up three while Fazalhaq Farooqi and Nangeyalia Kharote also took one. Rashid Khan once again was economical and also picked up one.

Chasing down a tricky total Ireland were off to a poor start as they lost the top three in a jiffy. Paul Stirling, Andy Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker departed without any significant contributions with the bat. Harry Tector along with Curtis Campher tried well and put up a 24-run partnership for the fourth wicket but that was broken with the dismissal of Harry Tector and George Dockrell couldn't do much either. The sixth wicket partnership between Gareth Delany and Curtis Campher brought some hopes back for Ireland as they scored 36 off just 19 deliveries but the target was too big for the batters down the order. Gareth Delany batted well and fought hard for his side as he scored 21. Curtis Campher looked good for his 28. Other batters just couldn't get going and that cost them the series.

Brilliance with the bat from Ibrahim Zadran backed up by a solid bowling performance from the Afghan bowlers has helped Afghanistan win this game by 57 runs. After trailing 0-1, Afghanistan now clinches the series 2-1.

Commentary

We are back with the chase. Paul Stirling and Andy Balbirnie walk out as the opener for Ireland. For Afghanistan, it will be Fazalhaq Farooqi to open the bowling attack.

... RUN CHASE ...

The Irish bowlers showcased their skill early on, with Mark Adair's early breakthrough removing the dangerous Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Despite an initial fielding hiccup, Gareth Delany made amends by dismissing Sediqulla shortly after. Curtis Campher then swiftly joined the attack, claiming the important scalp of Azmatullah Omarzai in the following over. However, Afghanistan displayed resilience with a solid fourth-wicket partnership, only to have their momentum disrupted by Ben White's delivery, resulting in a brilliant catch by skipper Paul Stirling. With a couple more crucial wickets, Ireland successfully contained Afghanistan to 155 runs by the end of the first innings. Now, faced with the formidable spin arsenal of Afghanistan, the Irish batting lineup faces a stern test. Can they navigate the challenge posed by Afghanistan bowlers and secure the series win? Or will Afghanistan bowlers defend their total effectively? We will soon find out as the chase comes to you in a bit.

Ibrahim Zadran the man of the moment is down for a quick chat. He says they have put up a nice total and they will look to cover 10-15 runs they missed out with the bat by their fielding effort. Adds that the last two games haven't seen the best of starts with the bat and in this game, they capitalized well on the powerplay. Mentions he was looking to play the anchor and Mohammad Ishaq took the onus on him to take the charge and he did it well. Closes by saying that the ball is holding a bit and this looks like a good enough total.

Opting to bat first, Afghanistan commenced their innings with a measured approach. However, the struggles persisted for Rahmanullah Gurbaz as he departed for yet another modest score in the third over. Nevertheless, Sediqullah Atal and Ibrahim Zadran forged a promising partnership, steering Afghanistan to 41 runs for the loss of one wicket by the conclusion of the powerplay. Sediqullah Atal's departure shortly after the powerplay followed by Azmatullah Omarzai's soft dismissal interrupted the momentum. Yet, Mohammad Ishaq seamlessly integrated into the fold, joining Ibrahim in launching a spirited assault on the Irish bowling attack stitching a partnership of 54 runs before Ishaq fell. It was the gritty knock by Ibrahim Zadran remaining unbeaten on 72 runs that helped Afghanistan reach a good total of 155 runs on the board.

Ibrahim Zadran's stellar unbeaten 72-run knock has propelled Afghanistan to 155 runs, the highest total of the series, and Afghanistan will be mighty pleased with this performance.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sediqullah Atal are the openers striding out to bat for Afghanistan. Mark Adair has the new ball in hand and will start the proceedings for Ireland. Away we go.

Paul Stirling the captain of Ireland says they would have batted first as well but it doesn't matter. Informs they are unchanged for this game.

Rashid Khan the captain of Afghanistan says it is a used wicket and might spin more in the second inning. Adds that their strength is spin and the wicket will help the spinners. Mentions that T20 cricket is all about 2 or 3 players stepping up while rest support and everybody on their side is putting in the hard work and showing that effort on the field which is all that matters for him as a captain. Concludes that they go unchanged into this game.

TOSS - Afghanistan have won the Toss and elected to BAT first.

Ireland have displayed commendable tenacity thus far and will aim to fortify their batting lineup with added resilience. The formidable opening duo of Andy Balbirnie and skipper Paul Stirling has provided solid platforms, yet the middle order has faltered in converting these starts into substantial scores. Despite this, Ireland's bowling contingent has operated with precision, poised to maintain their stellar form in the crucial decider. Their success hinges on garnering vital support from the batting unit to complement their bowling prowess, a factor that could prove decisive in clinching victory in this pivotal match. With both teams vying for supremacy and the series win hanging in the balance, who do you think will get over the line? We shall find out shortly as Toss and team news come to you in a bit.

After a resilient comeback from a 1-0 deficit in the series, Afghanistan showcased their mettle in the second game, propelled by the remarkable performance of Rashid Khan. Yet, as they gear up for the series decider, the onus lies heavily on their top-order batters to rectify their subpar showings in the preceding encounters. Rashid Khan's masterful leadership of the bowling unit has been pivotal, but for Afghanistan to seize victory, they'll need a collective effort from the entire squad showcasing their full potential.

Greetings and a warm welcome to the showdown, the decisive game of this thrilling 3-match T20I series pitting Afghanistan against Ireland. With victory claimed by each team in one match apiece, anticipation soars high. Brace yourself for what promises to be an electrifying spectacle set to unfold at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

... MATCH DAY ...

The excitement is building as we head into the third and final T20I clash between Afghanistan and Ireland at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium. With the series locked at 1-1, both teams are now gearing up for a thrilling series decider to secure bragging rights before they turn their attention to the highly anticipated T20 World Cup later in the year. In the second T20I, after opting to bat first, Afghanistan were off to a shaky start, but thanks to a fighting knock from Mohammad Nabi and a finishing kick from Rashid Khan, they got to 152. In reply, Ireland were off to a solid start, but once the opening stand was broken, they lost their way, losing wickets at regular intervals. Despite Gareth Delany's efforts towards the end, the visitors fell short by 10 runs. As Ireland prepare to bounce back, the batting group will have to step up who have yet to bat to their potential in this series. The responsibility will fall on Paul Stirling and Andy Balbirnie to start well and on Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector to capitalise on the platform laid. The performance of the pace trio of Mark Adair, Joshua Little, and Barry McCarthy have been impressive and will have to keep up the good work. On the spin bowling front, the onus will be on Ben White and Gareth Delany to put in an improved bowling display. Afghanistan, on the other hand, will look to build on their momentum, with their batting mainstays Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran and Azmatullah Omarzai eager to make amends for their previous low scores. In the pace bowling department, Fazalhaq Farooqi was expensive in the previous encounter, while Naveen-ul-Haq went for plenty in the series opener. If Afghanistan are to clinch the series, the pace duo will have to pull their socks up. When it comes to the spin bowling duties, Rashid Khan has shouldered the burden and found good support from Mohammad Nabi and Nangeyalia Kharote. With series on the line, who are you backing to reign supreme?
