Coming to the ball, Harshit steams in from around the wickets and lands it on a hard length, skidding through the deck and staying a tad bit low on the bounce. Alex Carey is squared up and tries to block it in front but plays inside the line. Gets rapped on the back thigh pad. Sundar serves it on a nagging length, on the off-stump line, Lyon gets himself on the front foot and plays for the turn but there is no turn on offer.  This goes straight on and zips past the outside edge of Lyon's vertical bat. After that, Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc batted without much trouble, and it seemed like the duo would see off the session without further casualties. However, Jurel plucked one out of thin air to send Starc packing at the stroke of Tea break. The writing is on the wall for Australia, and at this stage, it's about taking whatever positives they can, despite the inevitable loss. On a personal level, Carey will be hoping to spend as much time as possible at the crease and wear down the Indian bowlers. Well, a spectacular grab from Dhruv Jurel on what turned out to be the final ball of the session has brought India ever closer to sealing a famous win here in Perth. Earlier in the session, Travis Head picked up where he left off before the Lunch break, continuing to take his chances. At the other end, Mitchell Marsh who had looked shaky earlier, grew in confidence as the duo built a solid partnership. The 82-run stand was broken by Bumrah, with Head falling for 89. Shortly after, Nitish Kumar Reddy made Marsh his first Test victim, as the local boy fell just short of his fifty, dismissed for 47.

OUT! TAKEN! What a sharp catch by Dhruv Jurel at short leg! Washington Sundar stays around the stumps and slows down the pace, giving some flight on it. Keeps the line of attack on the stumps and the length is full. Mitchell Starc prods forward and brings his bat ahead of the pads to clip it away. But he is a bit early into the shot and ends up lobbing it towards the right of short leg where Jurel shows quick reflexes. He stays in his squatting position but stretches his right hand out, almost thrusting it over his head, and plucks it out of thin air. Starc departs on 12 (35). Sundar gets his first wicket and Australia are 227/8 now. And that will be TEA ON DAY 4!

But just when the Travis Head-Mitchell Marsh alliance had begun to frustrate the Indian bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah came back to the rescue and got the better of the dangerous southpaw who played a brisk hand of 89 runs. As things stand, India need 4 wickets to win and will look to break this last recognized batting pair as quickly as possible. Mitchell Marsh has looked rock-solid so far as well and is inching towards his half-century and has just went past 1000 runs in Tests on the Australian soil.

OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Jasprit Bumrah strikes gold on his return to the attack. Travis Head, India's nemesis in recent times, departs for a well-made 89. After a bumper on the previous ball, Bumrah bowls this one on a back of a length, in the channel on off, Head does not move his feet again and just pokes at the delivery with his hands. The outside edge is found and the keeper, Rishabh Pant does the rest. Bumrah roars in delight as does Kohli. The 82-run stand off just 87 deliveries is now broken. Australia are now 161/6.

FIVE WIDES! Bumrah bends his back and digs it in short, at the batter, this sails over the batter's head and it goes over the leaping Rishabh Pant for a boundary.

Well then, another session has flown by in this West Test. Australia just about managed to hang in there but still have a mountain to climb. On the other hand, the tourists will be determined to not let things slide away from here and look to bundle the hosts towards the end of the second session. While Australia would be keen to stretch the game into the fifth day, showing they have got grit. The post-Lunch session begins soon and we will be back in a bit. Stay tuned.

Though Indian seamers kept probing persistently, with Washington Sundar brought in to exploit the roughs and cracks, the first hour was dominated by Australia's resilient duo. Smith, showing marked improvement in his footwork, looked more assured at the crease, only to see his innings cut short upon the change in bowling brought in. Travis Head then took center stage, unfurling a series of sublime strokes. Runs began to flow freely once the South Australian found his rhythm and also notched a brisk half-century towards the end of the session.

It has been a sedate day as compared to the action-packed first three days. Australia, with a huge mountain to climb, lost Usman Khawaja pretty early to Siraj as Australia slipped down further to 17/4. The pitch began to further deteriorate as the cracks widened, with unpredictable bounce making batting a challenging affair. Yet Smith and Head showcased remarkable resilience, dug deep into their reserves, and built a solid 62-run stand.

LUNCH, DAY 4 - Session Summary - 25.4 overs, 92 runs, 2 wickets. Australia would be very happy to see through the morning session after what unfolded late on Day 3. The key highlights of the session have been Travis Head's brisk fifty and Mohammed Siraj's interrogating spell of bowling.

Delivers it on a nagging length, on off, Marsh lets the ball come to him and he is solid in defence. THAT WILL BE LUNCH ON DAY 4!

Bumrah goes searching for the yorker but ends up bowling a low full toss, on off, Marsh pushes it to cover.

Well watched this time by Marsh! On a good length, on middle, Marsh gets right behind the line of the ball and sees it out. The umpire signals a NO BALL as Bumrah has overstepped for the fourth time today.

Bumrah slips in a slower delivery, at 120.5 kph, on a length, Marsh does not pick the change of pace initially and almost takes his eyes off the ball for a second. Marsh does well in the end to defend.

Bumrah hurls it on a length, on off, Marsh eases the drive to the left of cover and hares back for the second run.

FOUR! Easy pickings! Siraj tries to go short but gets the line wrong and also does not get it high enough. It comes at waist height to Head who just gets inside the line and tickles it to the deep fine leg fence for a boundary.

A clear short-ball ploy from India against Head with a deep fine leg, a deep square leg, a deepish mid-wicket and a leg gully in place. Siraj digs it in short, Head ducks under it.

Not in control but Marsh gets away with it and opens his account! On a length, around off, Marsh makes a bit of room and opens the bat face just a bit to play it square of the wicket. It goes uppishly off the outer half of the bat but beats the diving cover-point fielder to his left for three runs.

Oh, that kept low! Serves it on a back of a length, around off, Marsh hops to keep it out but the ball stays low and skids through to go under the bat. It goes on the bounce to the keeper. A deepish backward short leg has been put for Marsh.

Bumrah continues to test Marsh! On a good length from over the wicket, on off and middle, Marsh lunges to defend. The ball kicks off that length and catches the shoulder of the bat. Luckily for Marsh, it lobs and drops in the vacant region beside the pitch on the leg side.

Gets the yorker in now, on off, Head clears his front leg and jams it out wide of cover for one more.

Fine take by Pant! Bumrah goes short at the left shoulder of the batter, Head tries to take the short ball. Swings for the pull but the ball sails over his head. Pant leaps and takes it over his head with his right hand.

With a fine deep third in place, Bumrah bangs it in short, on off, Head adjusts well and glides it with an open bat face. Sundar in the deep dives to his left and keeps it down to two.

FOUR! A clever shot by Head to bring up his FIFTY! Starting cautiously, he has gradually found his rhythm and is now looking more assertive. A well-constructed half-century under testing conditions. Siraj bends his back and digs it in short, over off and middle, Head arches back and ramps it over the keeper for a boundary to bring up his 17th Test fifty.

Slips it in on a back of a length, around off, Marsh stays back to keep it out on the off side.

Dishes it out on a back of a length, outside off, Marsh leaves it alone.

Another one from Bumrah that spits off the deck, on a short of a length, on middle, Marsh is taken aback and wears it on the glove.

NO BALL! In the channel on off, on a nagging length, outside off, Marsh pokes at the delivery and gets beaten on the outside edge. It would not have mattered even if Marsh had edged it as Bumrah had overstepped. Third no ball of the day for the Indian skipper.

Bumrah hits the deck hard and gets a good lift off the deck, on off, Marsh gets into an awkward position as he tries to fend it down. The ball hits the splice of the bat and drops near Marsh's feet.

Drinks break! A relatively quiet start to Day 4 following the dramatic conclusion of the previous evening. The uneven bounce has kept both Steven Smith and Travis Head on their toes, but the pair have shown grit to hang in there after Usman Khawaja's early dismissal in just the second over of the day. On a pitch that’s starting to play tricks, India’s bowlers will need to remain patient, stick to their basics, and let the conditions do the talking rather than overcomplicating their approach.

A confident appeal for LBW from Rana but the umpire shakes his head in denial! This looks really close and after a long discussion, Jasprit Bumrah signals the 'T' and challenges the on-field decision. Rana gets the ball to angle into the batter, it lands on a good length and keeps low as it jags back in very sharply. Steven Smith shuffles across and is trapped in front as he plays with a straight bat to block it out, but plays over the line and it hits his front pad. Nothing on UltraEdge and the Ball Tracking shows that it is just sliding down the leg stump. NOT OUT. India lose their review!

Gets hit on the pads. Ball Tracking shows that the ball is clipping the leg stump on the umpire's call. NOT OUT!

Closer to the off-stump line, on a good length, stays low, Travis Head camps back to defend but gets a thick inside edge on the front pad.

PITCH REPORT - Wasim Akram and Ravi Shastri are near the deck. Wasim starts by highlighting a few visible cracks near the end from which Bumrah is operating. He mentions that the cooler weather today will ease the workload for India's bowlers, even if they have to spend the entire day in the field. Shastri points out that with these cracks, batters must play straight and avoid the risk of playing across the line. He also predicts that Washington Sundar could become a key factor later, thanks to the rough patches created by the bowlers' footmarks.

Now with Day 4 on the cards, Australia find themselves in unfamiliar territory and their 100 per cent winning record at the Optus is in jeopardy. The writing appears pretty much on the wall for them now. A deteriorating pitch expected to offer considerable seam movement, could make life even more difficult for the struggling hosts. Australia's woes deepened as their bowling unit largely looked rhythmless, barring those few close calls. And also, skipper Cummins failed to stamp his authority with the ball, which indeed is a sight of rarity especially on Aussie soil. Nathan Lyon did get some bite off the deck but it was too little and too late by then. Also, their top order frailties got exposed again as they collapsed to 12/3 while chasing a daunting 534.

Just when you thought this Perth pitch couldn't offer more drama, the plot thickened towards the climax of Day 3. The surface that had been a batter's dream for six sessions finally began to bare its teeth - cracks widening and rough patches darkening coupled with uneven variable bounce as well. Even as Hazlewood and Starc threatened to trigger a collapse, with beating edges at several occasions, the towering 161 from Jaiswal and a rollicking partnership between Kohli and Sundar stood firm with the former finally scoring his 81st international ton, and the first in this calendar year.

After being knocked over for 150, they've turned the tables in spectacular fashion, first by skittling the mighty Aussies for a shocking 104, then by putting on a batting masterclass that stretched over two grueling days. Right then, three days of this Perth Test are in the books, and judging by Australia's struggles with the bat, a four-day finish seems likely unless they pull off an extraordinary batting effort to push the game into the fifth and final day. After a grueling day in the field, just when it seemed things couldn't get any worse for the hosts, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj piled on the misery with a fiery spell late in the day. Bumrah accounted for Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne, while Pat Cummins who came in as a night-watchman, was undone by Siraj. With two days still left in the Test, the Aussies are staring down the barrel. What makes their task with the bat even more daunting is the pitch's behavior in the latter half of Day 3. It began to show signs of uneven bounce, and Nathan Lyon extracted sharp turn from the rough - conditions that were absent on a relatively quiet Day 2.

With the deck showing no signs of wear, Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal added to Australia's woes, leaving the visitors waiting for the second new ball. Once available, Australia did not start that well, but Josh Hazlewood struck immediately after the Lunch break to remove Padikkal. From 313/2, Jaiswal's dismissal triggered a mini-collapse, with India slipping to 321/5 to lift the Aussie spirits. Virat Kohli held firm and stitched partnerships first with Washington Sundar and then with Nitish Kumar Reddy to extend the lead. His partnership with Nitish gave the final push India needed for their declaration and as Kohli upped the ante, it also brought up his 30th Test ton. The tourists declared at 487/6, setting Australia a target of 534 runs.

An ideal end to the day for India, and for two days in a row, they couldn't have asked for a better day at the office. Dominating first with the bat and then with the ball, the tourists have heaped misery on Australia. By the close of play on the 'Moving Day', the Test has moved well beyond the reach of the hosts, leaving them with an uphill battle. Earlier, a new dawn brought no respite for Australia as Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul pressed to build the 218-run lead. The lateral movement remained negligible, and Jaiswal reached his 4th Test century in the first session. After going wicketless for two sessions on Day 2, Australia finally broke through on Day 3 when Mitchell Starc dismissed Rahul.

OUT! LBW! A huge confident appeal for LBW and Chris Gaffaney raises his finger! Indian players are celebrating but Marnus Labuschagne opts for a review after chatting with Usman Khawaja. Coming to the delivery, Jasprit Bumrah uses the angle and bowls it from a bit wide of the crease, angling into the right-hander. It lands and stays a tad bit low on the bounce and skids through very quickly off the deck. Marnus Labuschagne misjudges the nip-backer and tries to leave it by hanging his bat in the air. Gets pinged right on his front pad. Ball Tracking comes up and shows three reds. The impact does not matter as no shot was offered by Labuschagne. The projection then shows that the ball could have smashed the top of the off stump. OUT it is and Australia slip further on 12/3. And with that, it is STUMPS ON DAY 3!

It goes off the bat, flat and low towards the second slip where Virat Kohli bends low on his knees and takes a sharp catch to his left. Australia are reeling at 9/2.

Nitish is caught ball-watching and as soon as he realises Kohli rushing to the other end, he sprints to get to the other end. Carey meanwhile, collects and throws at the bowling end, but Nitish reaches home in time.

With Virat Kohli well-settled on 68, India would aim to bat for the remaining overs of the day as declaration looks highly unlikely at this stage. As the session progressed, there were signs of some spin as well for Lyon who had just outfoxed Pant. But with Kohli well settled, he looked in confidence and peppered the field with some extravagant strokes. With Sundar playing the perfect second fiddle, the duo kept the scoreboard ticking, methodically expanding India's cushion and dashing the collapse further. India currently holds a very healthy lead of 405 runs with 5 wickets still to spare. Coming into the final session, Australia's aim would be to bundle India out and bank a couple of days to chase. India, on the other hand, would like to bat through the day and take the game further away from the claws of the hosts. Stay tuned, as an exciting post-Tea session will begin at 7.20 am GMT.

Though the pitch had begun showing signs of wear with occasional variable bounce creeping in, batting conditions remained largely favorable in the first hour. However, the mounting pressure from Australia's disciplined bowling took its toll. Yashasvi Jaiswal, perhaps caught between caution and aggression, fell trying to force the pace. This triggered an astonishing collapse as India's commanding position of 313/2 crumbled to a vulnerable 321/5. Three wickets tumbled in just about four overs, though the Indian batters were masters of their own downfall and would rue their rash shot selection.

This session after Lunch moved the contest at a brisk pace. Despite India's comfortable position with a healthy lead already, Australia found their breakthrough immediately as Josh Hazlewood struck with the very first delivery of the session, dismissing the well-set Devdutt Padikkal. This wicket seemed to energize the Australian seamers, who tightened their lines and lengths considerably, attempting to plug the run flow.

TEA, DAY 3 - Session Summary - 26 overs, 84 runs, 4 wickets. A session of two halves, to be fair, and a much better session for Australia. The bowlers dominated the first hour, followed by a resilient stand between Kohli and Sundar for the sixth wicket. In the current scenario, India have lead 5 sessions so far versus two sessions dominated by the Aussies with this one being shared by both sides.

Pant is a long way down the track and is made to reach out but fails to get any bat on it. He loses his balance as he tries to get back in. The keeper, Alex Carey moves to his left to snaffle it and does the rest to catch Pant well out of his crease. Pant goes for 1 (4). India slip down to 320/4, leading by 366 runs.

Drinks! Another hour has flown by on this third day. Australia has finally made inroads by snagging two wickets in this session with Josh Hazlewood dismissing Padikkal off the very first ball after the break. The seamers did look much improved in this session with Marsh also chipping in with one pricy wicket of Jaiswal on 161. Virat Kohli on the other hand has looked solid in his defence and has also treated fans with some exquisite strokes. India, despite losing two in this session of play, have managed to extend the lead to 367, but they and will look to bat it out for the entire day to put the hosts under pressure as the surface still hasn't deteriorated that much and is good to bat on. A change in bowling right after the break as Nathan Lyon has been summoned back into the attack, replacing Mitchell Marsh.
