Drinks! Time for another hydration break, probably the last one of the second day. Well, it won't be an exaggeration to say that the Indian openers have bossed up the proceedings so far. Given that the pitch has dried up with no movement whatsoever, things have eased up a bit from the batters' perspective. Australian bowlers have sweated hard for that breakthrough but haven't got one as yet. Josh Hazlewood of all, has looked the most threatening and close to snagging one as he just hasn't given away anything off his ten overs. Lyon is being utilized from one end for quite a while and Australia would expect him to create that inroad as one just might bring two as they say. Just as we say, he gets replaced in the attack by Mitchell Marsh.

BUZZERS!!! A mix-up of all sorts! Indecision by the batters between the wickets, followed by a wayward throw at the bowler's end. A direct hit and KL Rahul was well gone for miles. Tossed up, around off, Yashasvi Jaiswal leans on and pats it to the cover-point region. Steven Smith scoots to his left and chases the ball. KL Rahul is already halfway as he thinks a single is on but gets a sharp sendback by Yashasvi Jaiswal. KL obeys and retreats back to the bowling end. Meanwhile, Smith picks, turns around and throws it away from the stumps at the bowler's end, allowing Rahul to get home safely.

Did that carry? The reaction from Starc suggests so. Starc dishes it out on a length, on off, Jaiswal goes for the big booming drive. Gets an outside edge that goes low towards first slip and it just about carries to Usman Khawaja there. Khawaja lets the ball come to him instead of going towards the ball. He hangs back and the ball catches his fingertips on the half-volley.

Did the movement just die off the pitch or did the batters apply themselves well? Can say, both, for now, at least. The sudden metamorphosis in the conditions has been striking - from yesterday's seam-bowling haven to today's more balanced surface with the ball not seaming much. The opening pair's unbroken partnership has steadily expanded India's lead to 130 runs, presenting a stark contrast to the clatter of wickets witnessed on day one. With the final session left in Day 2, can Australia turn around its fortunes and strike a roaring comeback? Or will India manage to get a comfortable lead? This shift in conditions was first hinted at during Australia's stubborn last-wicket partnership, and the trend has continued with India's openers showing remarkable resilience. For India, Yashasvi Jaiswal who perished on a duck, redeemed himself with a solid unbeaten knock while KL Rahul carried on the momentum in the second innings as well. Australia also utilized Nathan Lyon, but there was no turn whatsoever and Labuschange was also used towards the end of the session but they didn't get much assistance as the pitch eased out with the progression.

With the pitch easing up a bit to bat on, the Indian openers began on a positive note. KL Rahul and Jaiswal both effectively rotated the strike and kept the scorecard ticking. Although there was some lateral movement on offer for the seamers with the new ball, they caused minimal trouble and were negotiated with caution early on. The Australian pace attack, despite cycling through all their seamers within the first ten overs in search of a breakthrough, couldn't replicate the opening day's dominance.

TEA, DAY 2 - Session Summary - 26 overs, 84 runs, 0 wickets. A positive session for India as they go unblemished in the post-Lunch session after beginning their innings with a lead of 46 runs. On the other hand, the Australian bowlers would be feeling a bit exasperated as they have used all their bowling resources, but haven't broken through as yet. With this, India have led three sessions so far versus Australia dominating two.

Stays around the wicket for the last ball of the session and serves it short, on middle and leg, Rahul rocks on the back foot and stabs it down on the leg side. India go to TEA on 84/0, leading by 130 runs!

Tossed up now, full and on off, Jaiswal plants his front foot across and wrists it in front of deep mid-wicket for one.

From around the wicket, drifting into the left-hander, full and at the stumps, Jaiswal lunges to keep it out.

Flat and short, on off, Rahul makes room and dabs it through point for a single.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul have done well in handling the new ball with patience and resolve, but the job is far from over as they will need to keep up their focus. On the flip side, Australia have not had much going for them so far and will be desperate for a breakthrough to lift their spirits. Informs that Australia have used the heavy roller once again which means there will be plenty of bounce. Also reckons that due to the presence of grass, the pitch will be quicker than Day 1. Wasim Akram says there's still a lot of grass on the pitch and also says the Indian bowlers bowled really well yesterday and constantly hit that 6-meter mark. Adds that there are a few small visible cracks that could open up depending on how long the game goes on.

On the other hand, Australia will look to Alex Carey, who has a knack for batting smartly with the tail, to help bridge the gap to India’s first-innings total of 150. Carey’s recent form in the Sheffield Shield gives him added confidence, and the hosts will be hoping for another gritty knock from him. Day 2 promises to be as riveting as the first. OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Siraj gets in on the act now! Good low take by Rahul!  Siraj pulls the length back as he bends his back and hits the deck hard, on a shortish length, on off. Marsh gets on his toes to ride the bounce and defend it out with a straight bat. The outside edge is found and it goes low towards the slip cordon as Marsh tries to take one hand off the bat. It goes low to the left of third slip where Rahul stays low and dives to his left to take the catch. India start to celebrate but Marsh is asked to wait as the third umpire is called into action to check for a fair catch. The third umpire looks at a couple of angles and then deems that Rahul had his fingers clearly underneath the ball. Australia have now lost half their side with just 38 on the board and trailing by 112 runs.

Is that out? Has the ball carried? The umpire Richard Kettleborough asks Marsh to stay as it is sent upstairs to check for a fair catch. KL Rahul dives to his left and attempts for a low catch. Does grab the ball. But now, the question is whether he has his fingers underneath. After several rolls, the TV umpire is satisfied and it is given OUT.

Drinks! Well, that's one way to answer back! Jasprit Bumrah has led the Indian attack really well and they have Australia right where they would have wanted them. Australia still have a fair bit of batting to come but the duo of Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Marsh is crucial. They need to form some sort of a partnership to get back into the game.

Much fuller and straighter on off, Mitchell Marsh presents a solid front foot defense to end the over.

OUT! BOWLED'EM! KNOCKED HIM OVER! What a moment for Harshit Rana as he gets the dangerous Travis Head as his first Test wicket. He is all pumped up and rightly so! Australia have now been reduced to 31/4. Coming to the delivery, Harshit steams in from around the stumps and bowls a fuller-length delivery, angling on the off-stump line. It lands and skids quickly off the surface. Travis Head is undone by the excessive pace off the surface and gets a bit late to bring his bat down in time to block it out. The ball nips a bit off the deck and beats the edge before clattering the off-pole. Travis Head departs on 11.

Wayward from Bumrah this time around, but a good take from Pant behind the sticks. Banged short but down leg, Marnus Labuschagne misses to tuck it across and Pant dives to his left to make a sharp stop.

Hits the deck hard, just around off, Travis Head hops on the back foot and punches it with soft hands to the cover-point region for a quick single.

Attacks the pegs, full in length, on middle, Travis Head gets behind the line and knocks it out to the off side.

Sears it in on a fuller length, outside off, Travis Head slashes hard but misses and gets beaten on the outside edge.

Slanting on the pads, Head misses to flick it away and wears it on the pads.

Length-delivery angling down leg, Head misses the flick. Pant collects it with a dive to his right.

Still, Labuschagne can't get off the mark! A bit shorter and angled into the body, Labuschagne tucks it down off the hips but straight to square leg.

FOUR! This is banged in a bit too short and well outside off, Travis Head hops up and plays the uppercut, as the ball flies over backward point and lands just inside the ropes for a boundary. Also, it is called a NO BALL for overstepping.

Fractionally short again and outside off, Head hangs back and cuts it late and into the ground as the ball goes on the bounce to Yashasvi Jaiswal at gully.

FOUR! Slashed away in trademark Travis Head fashion! A tad short and wide outside off and Head pounces on it as he cuts it firmly behind point for a boundary.

The dots keep pouring in as Labuschagne stays stranded on zero off 20 deliveries now. Just short of a good length, in and around the top of off, solidly blocked off by Labuschagne.

Full and wide outside off, nipping back in a bit, Labuschagne with a much more comfortable leave to make this time around.

Ouch, that's gotta hurt! Hard length around off, this one jags back in sharply as well with some extra bounce, Labuschagne looks to shoulder arms but instead takes a blow to the ribs.

Bowled quite full and outside off, jagging back in sharply off the deck at about 140 clicks, Labuschagne makes a good leave.

Back to over the wicket to the right-hander and brings out the bumper. This one angles down leg and Labuschagne just about manages to duck under that one.

Full and straight this time, Travis Head manages to clip the ball away well wide of mid on for a single and gets off the mark.

Rana begins with a maiden! A touch fuller and in the channel outside off, Labuschagne leaves it alone and he will know that he holds the key for his side now.

Oh, this is brilliant bowling from the debutant! On a good length outside off, Labuschagne is a bit indecisive whether to leave it alone or not and this one just jags back in to rap him on the body. A bit of chirping from Harshit Rana as well.

Back of a length and over middle, angled into the hips, Labuschagne stays upright and dabs it down to mid-wicket.

Good length on the stumps, angling in, Labuschagne looks to step inside the line of the ball but gets squared up and takes a blow to the ground region. That must have hurt!

Aggressive stuff from Rana as he brings out a short-pitched delivery, bowling it around off and trying to angle it in, Labuschagne bends his back to sway away from the line of the ball.

Rana steams in from over the wicket and serves it on a good length outside off, gets the inswinger going as Labuschagne makes a well-watched leave.

Harshit Rana, on Test debut, is now introduced into the attack. He replaces Siraj.

Almost! Jasprit Bumrah runs in from around the stumps and darts in another fuller delivery, looking to swing it across from leg but this one doesn't straighten as much. Travis Head falls over while looking to flick but gets struck on the pads, thankfully for him that's going down leg. A double-wicket maiden for Bumrah then!

OUT! LBW! Jasprit Bumrah is on a roll and what a call by the on-air commentator as well. Mark Nicholas on air just mentioned that if Bumrah can get that inswinger going to Steven Smith then he is a big candidate for LBW and on the first ball that Smith faces, Bumrah delivers that exact same delivery. Bumrah goes wider on the crease and darts in a full ball towards middle and leg, Steven Smith gets across to the off side but is caught on the crease and gets pinged right in front of the stumps. No need to review and Bumrah is on a hat-trick as Australia slip further.

OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Jasprit Bumrah leading from the front and it's game on here in Perth! Bumrah is a master of using that around-the-wicket angle to the left-hander and now, both Australian openers are back in the hut. The length is just pulled back this time as the ball is angled in towards middle and off. Usman Khawaja gets pushed back looking to defend but the ball seams away after pitching and the outside edge is found. The ball goes straight into the bread basket of Virat Kohli at second slip who makes no mistake this time and Australia are 19/2!

A touch fuller on off, Usman Khawaja covers the off stump line and blocks it off.

Good length on middle and leg, tucked away in front of square leg by Usman Khawaja.

Peach! Bumrah comes from around the stumps and pitches it up a bit on off, the ball threatens to angle in but nips away off the deck, leaving Khawaja in dire straits as the ball zips past the outside edge.

Bowled quite full and closer to the off stump, Usman Khawaja leans into the shot and pushes it wide of mid off for a single.

Comes from around the wicket now and bowls it full on the fifth stump line, no movement there as Khawaja makes another leave.

FOUR! All the built-up pressure is released with that loose delivery. Fractionally short on middle and leg, Usman Khawaja stays back and swivels before pulling it well behind square leg for a welcome boundary.

A beauty to end a maiden over from Jasprit Bumrah! Just short of a good length, bowled in the corridor of uncertainty and this one again angles in before sharply straightening down the line. Labuschagne is beaten past the outside edge.

Hard length, pitches it close to the off pole and angles it in, Labuschagne makes a comfortable leave on length.

Another big appeal for LBW but turned down. Jasprit Bumrah bowls it a bit fuller and straighter, angling it in quickly. Labuschagne falls over while looking to block and gets rapped on the pads. Just a tad high that one and no review is taken either.

Length again and in the channel outside off, Labuschagne watches it well and leaves it alone.

Bumrah asking questions and Labuschagne is finding it tricky right now. On a hard length, darted in towards middle and gets it to straighten off the deck, squaring up the batter. The outside edge is found and it goes down towards third slip where KL Rahul makes a sharp stop.

On a good length, pushed quite wide of the off stump and angling further away, Labuschagne presses back and makes a leave.

Maiden! Fuller in length, on a tight line on off and nipping away, Usman Khawaja looks to block but is beaten once again.

Lovely delivery from Siraj! Good length on off, this one hits the deck and nips across with some additional bounce, Khawaja pokes at it and the ball whizzes past the outside edge.

Nagging length in the channel around off, threatening to shape it back in but this one goes straight on as well. Usman Khawaja makes yet another leave.

Another one that is bowled a tad full and outside off, Khawaja has no interest in playing at that one.

Fuller and wider this time, outside off, Khawaja lets this one through to the keeper.

Slightly back of a length and angling it across the off stump, Usman Khawaja watches it well and leaves it alone.

Another top nut to end the over! Hard length on off, straightening brilliantly off the deck and Marnus Labuschagne is squared up completely.

Edged and gone! Or is it? The Indians go up in appeal but Virat Kohli says no and that is an easy chance dropped by the experienced Indian batter. Jasprit Bumrah has his tail up and lands this one on a perfect length on off, gets it to angle across sharply and Labuschagne is just taken aback as he gets an outside edge to the right of second slip. Kohli dives across and has the ball in his hands but it pops out at the last moment. Kohli tries to maintain the ball in his right hand but it spills out as he falls over on his elbows.

Ooh, that one almost sneaked through as well! Similar length to the previous one but this one starts a bit straight and Marnus Labuschagne is able to get his bat in front of the pads and block it across to mid-wicket.

OUT! LBW! A prolonged appeal for LBW but the umpire says no. Seemed like two noises there but the Indians gather together and opt for the review driven mostly by Virat Kohli. Nagging length from Jasprit Bumrah pitched up around off and this one just darts back in off the deck. Nathan McSweeney looks to block off the front foot but the ball beats the inside edge to rap him on the pads. The third umpire has a look and there's nothing on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. Bumrah and India have their first as McSweeney departs cheaply on debut, top review.

Goes wider on the crease and angles in a fuller delivery from around the fifth stump line, McSweeney makes the leave but this one carries nicely to the keeper after pitching.

Too straight from Bumrah, on a good length and around leg, Khawaja is able to just tucks it down to fine leg and rotate the strike yet again.

Too high! Good length around off, this one is the big in-dipper which McSweeney doesn't pick and shoulders arms. The ball nips back in and crashes into the pads and Siraj goes up in appeal but the umpire says no.

FOUR! Edged and through, should have been stopped! Pitches it up on off and middle, nibbling away, McSweeney gets an outside edge as he looks to block but the ball falls well short of Virat Kohli at second slip and goes under his hands to the boundary ropes.

Good length in the channel outside off, going straight on with the arm, McSweeney leaves it alone.

Drags the length back and bowls it around the top of off, McSweeney gets pushed back but plays it late and with soft hands down in front of the slip cordon.

FOUR! Errs in line does Bumrah and Nathan McSweeney is off the mark in Test cricket with a boundary. Full and just sliding down the legs, McSweeney with a leg glance, played fine and past the keeper for four runs.

A tad fuller and smidge wider of the off pole, McSweeney makes a good leave.

Brute of a delivery from Bumrah! Nagging length, angled into off and middle but this one nips away sharply off the deck, McSweeney looks to block but is beaten past the outside edge.

Good-length delivery again and this is pushed outside off, a much easier leave this time for McSweeney.

Oh, that is an edgy leave from Nathan McSweeney! Good length from Bumrah around off, swinging back in and with some additional bounce as well. McSweeney shoulders arms and the ball flicks the thigh pad while on its way to the keeper.

Off the mark right away! A bit of a loosener from Bumrah to begin with, a gentle half-volley on the pads, Usman Khawaja clips it away in front of square leg for a single. Also, it is a false start for Bumrah as he oversteps and a NO BALL is called.

OUT! CAUGHT! Well, that's one way to make up for the earlier dropped catch. Pat Cummins hurls in yet another short-pitched delivery and angles it in from around middle. Nitish Kumar Reddy hangs back and looks to take it on but the ball gets big on him and the pull is miscued over the mid-wicket region. Usman Khawaja runs back and puts in a big slide to grab a fine catch and Reddy's fine debut knock comes to an end on 41. Cummins finishes with a couple of wickets as well and India are bundled out for 150.

FOUR! That's been smashed back by Nitish Kumar Reddy and Pat Cummins will feel that's adding insult to injury. Hard length around off, Reddy backs away and flat-bats it to the right of mid off for a boundary. The 150 also comes up for India.

DROPPED! Too casual from Usman Khawaja and he simply lost the ball in the sun there, school-boy error. A much better-directed short ball from Pat Cummins and angles it in at the bodyline. Nitish Kumar Reddy miscues it badly and the ball lobs up in front of mid-wicket where Khawaja struts ahead and spills the reverse-cup attempt.

Back of a length angled back into the batter, Nitish Kumar Reddy makes room and punches it towards the big gap at deep cover for a couple of runs.

Mohammed Siraj is the last batter in for India. And with just one wicket to spare, this afternoon session has been extended for extra 30 minutes or so.

OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Josh Hazlewood dangles the carrot at Jasprit Bumrah and he takes the bait. Hoff floats it full and a bit wide outside off, shaping it away as well. Bumrah keeps hanging back and looks to drive away from the body and ends up nicking it behind to the keeper. Alex Carey dives to his right and gobbles it up as Australia are now a wicket away from bundling out India.

Fuller in length and attacking the off stump line, Jasprit Bumrah blocks it off.

Dug in short again and around off, climbing up a bit to the batter, Bumrah hops back and manages to keep it out.

SIX! Right off the top edge but carries all the way! Short ball over middle, Jasprit Bumrah hangs back looking to pull but gets in an awkward position and gets a top edge that flies right over the keeper's head and clears the ropes for a second biggie in the space of two overs.

Bumrah seems to have gained the trust of Reddy as he does rotate the strike early in the over. Good length, attacking the top of off, Reddy nudges it off the inner half of the blade through the gap at mid-wicket and picks up a single.

Hard length around off, Bumrah stands tall and pushes it down in front of covers for a quick single.

SIX! Outrageous from Nitish Kumar Reddy! Banged in short over off and angling in, Reddy bends his back and just ramps it over deep third for a biggie. For a minute, the fielder in the deep looked to be in action but that one has sailed over his head.

Reddy was reluctant there but Bumrah does get the single he wanted. Full and outside off, looking to slide one back in, Bumrah gets nicely forward and pushes it towards cover for a quick single.

That jumped off the deck! Banged in a bit shorter around off, Reddy tries to get inside the line but ends up fending it awkwardly off the hips down to fine leg for a single.

Good length, attacking the stumps, Nitish Kumar Reddy stays on the front foot and pushes it towards mid on.

Denies the single once again does Reddy! Short of a length angled into the hips, tucked away into the open spaces in front of square leg.

Nitish Kumar Reddy going for the hail mary now. Banged in on a hard length over middle, Reddy backs away and goes to heave but miscues it well wide of mid on for no run.

Back of a length and over off, Jasprit Bumrah blocks it off.

Hard length on off, dabbed away into the off side.

OUT! CAUGHT! How has he pulled that one off? Marnus Labuschagne with a peach of a catch and what an assist from Nathan McSweeney as well, unbelievable. Josh Hazlewood bowls it just back of a length and keeps the line around off, just nibbling away as well. Harshit Rana stays back and jars at it with hard hands, edging it down in between second and third slip. It is McSweeney who springs down to his left and the ball pops out of the palm but Labuschagne shows impeccable reactions to sweep in and stick out his right hand to complete the catch. India 128/8 and in dire straits as the Hoff has three wickets.

FOUR! A bit streaky but good intent from Harshit Rana here. Slightly pitched up around off, Rana looks to drive but is late on it and gets a thick outside edge that goes through the slip cordon for a boundary.

Hazlewood brings out the sharp bumper and angles it in over the front shoulder of Rana who tries to take it on but is beaten by the extra bounce.

Good length, in the corridor of uncertainty and this one nips back in, Rana gets pegged back but manages to jam it down toward gully.

Loose from Cummins as this is bowled well short and wide, Harshit Rana goes after it and cuts the ball down towards deep backward point, collecting his first three runs in Test cricket.

Harshit Rana is in at number 9.

OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Pat Cummins has had a bit of a torrid time with the ball so far but he gets probably the biggest wicket of this innings. Cummins keeps pitching the ball up but this time he brings the line a bit straighter and gets some lateral movement away from the left-hander thanks to the scrambled seam. Rishabh Pant gets squared up as he looks to flick against the angle and gets an outside edge that flies towards Steven Smith at second slip. Smith takes a fine catch with both hands right around his face and Pant's resistance has come to an end. He departs for 37 (78) and India now 121/7!

Pant doesn't seem interested in driving at any deliveries at the moment. Full again, angled a bit further across the off stump line and Pant lets it through to the keeper.

Full and angling across the off stump, easy leave this time from Pant as he shoulders arms.

Well left again! Nagging length, just on the fuller side and on the fourth stump line, this one starts to nip back but holds its line as Pant makes another leave.

Pitches it up in the channel around off, slanting it across the left-hander, Rishabh Pant leaves it alone.

Hoff now bowls it into the channel of uncertainty, just outside off on a fullish length. Nitish Kumar Reddy has a feel for it and goes for a front foot defence. Plays inside the line and gets comprehensively beaten on the outside edge.

Down leg on a good length, Nitish Kumar Reddy lets it through.

Excellent delivery from Hazlewood. Tests the batter by bowling a steep bumper, just on off, Nitish Kumar Reddy tries to ride the bounce but it goes over the bat and Carey collects it behind the stumps.

Nagging length, just outside off, left alone by Nitish.

Straight, on middle and full, Nitish Kumar Reddy gets right behind the ball and presents a solid front foot block.

Short of a good length, skidding through, on off, Nitish Kumar Reddy taps it off the back foot to point.

Pitched just outside leg on a good length, Rishabh Pant tilts forward to work it across but misses and wears on the thigh pad.

WIDE! An over-the-head-bumper from Cummins. Pant leaves and the ball sails over to the keeper. Wide called.

Nagging length, on the pads, Nitish Kumar Reddy hops in the air and nudges it to the square leg region and gets a single.

Hard length, on middle, Nitish Kumar Reddy tucks it across to mid on.

Just a touch fuller and on off, Rishabh Pant taps it off the front foot and guides it to deep backward point. A slight fumble there in the deep allows them to cross over.

Hits the hard length does Cummins, around off, Rishabh Pant gets on the back foot and pushes it to cover.

Hard length, on middle and leg, Rishabh Pant gets forward and nurdles it to short mid-wicket.

Angles it on middle, keeps the length fuller, does Hazlewood, Nitish Kumar Reddy brings his bat straight down and drives it to mid off.

A bumper from Hoff and Reddy is happy to duck under it.

FOUR! Lovely shot! Hazlewood bowls almost a half-volley on off, Nitish Kumar Reddy lands his front foot ahead, meets the ball on merit and drives it through the line and down the ground for a boundary. Growing in confidence is Reddy. These two have now added 45 runs together now.

SIX! Gee, what was that shot? This is trademark Pant. Cummins bowls a half-volley around off, Rishabh Pant instead of knocking it around off, shuffles a bit across off, and plays the paddle shot aerially. He falls over losing his balance as well but the ball powers behind deep fine for a six.

Bangs it into the surface does Cummins, on the bodyline, Rishabh Pant can only duck underneath it and lets it pass alone. A well-directed bumper from the Aussie skipper.

Back of a length, angling back into the batter, Rishabh Pant stays on the back foot and taps it with soft hands to the off side.

Hard length, on the top of off, Rishabh Pant punches it to the strip off the back foot.

Lands it just outside off on a good length does Cummins. Rishabh Pant has a feel for it and hangs his bat away from his body without any foot movement. Gets beaten all ends up on the outside edge.

Again, double change in the bowling as Pat Cummins brings himself back into the attack.
