Right then, we have had 16 matches so far in this year's competition and the points table is starting to take shape with a few teams standing out and a few teams having a tough time. There's still a long, long way to go but it is now about building momentum. Next up is a clash between Gujarat and Punjab in Ahmedabad which will take place on Thursday, 4 April and will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). You can join us a lot sooner for the build-up. Till then, take care and goodbye!

Sunil Narine is the Player of the Match for his devastating knock at the top of the order, his 14th time winning the award, joint-highest for Kolkata in the tournament alongside Andre Russell. Narine says cricket is all about batting and it is much more pleasing but at the end of the day, he still enjoys his bowling. Adds that he has one role with the bat and knows it well and reckons that they do have great batters in the side and he just does his job. Mentions that Phil Salt is aggressive at the other end which takes pressure off him and he doesn't want to play too many dot balls either. Ends by saying that they want to win games by big margins and thankfully, it all went well for them in this game.

Shreyas Iyer, the skipper of Kolkata says that they thought 220 would be a good total and 270 plus was the icing on the cake. Says Sunil Narine's job is to go out there and free his arms. It's a big positive that he gets them to a flying start in the Powerplay and takes on the bowlers. Appreciates Angkrish Raghuvanshi and says he was fearless and also lauds his work ethic. Adds he is a smart batter and the shots were pleasing to the eyes. Mentions it is great to see the bowlers stepping up and taking timely wickets and most importantly says they complemented each other well. Says Vaibhav Arora was brilliant with the ball and took important wickets. On being asked about Harshit Rana's injury, he says he was feeling a bit of discomfort in his shoulder area. Ends up by saying that you always have to be down to earth, especially in a tournament like this.

The Presentation ceremony...

Earlier in the game, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and had no hesitation to bat first as the pitch looked like a batting paradise and the Kolkata batters proved it as well. Phil Salt was quick out of the blocks but it was Sunil Narine who after a few plays and misses, went berserk. Narine kept hitting the ball to the fence and over the fence. Young Angkrish Raghuvanshi who was sent up the order matched Narine shot-for-shot and the duo piled on the misery on the Delhi bowlers. Everyone that came in to bat after that kept finding the fence with the likes of Andre Russell and Rinku Singh playing formidable cameos to take Kolkata to 272 massive runs, the second-highest total ever in the competition. Delhi started off decently with the ball but after the first two overs or so, everything changed and they went for plenty. No one was able to curtail the flow of runs and they missed the services of Kuldeep Yadav in that middle phase heavily as well. In reply, Delhi got into early trouble and even after a couple of solid knocks, they ended up losing by 106 runs.

Kolkata's lead pacer, Mitchell Starc is now down for a chat. Starc says that he didn't change too much and in a game of T20, you need to move on pretty quickly and it's not the start he wanted personally but the positive is that the team is winning. Adds that it is T20 cricket and it can be brutal at times, especially on the bowlers and you need to take a bit of luck whenever you can get it. Jokes a bit about getting his fellow Aussies batters out and is happy that the team bowled well. On Vaibhav Arora, he says that Vaibhav used the short ball well and for him, it is mostly about talking to the young guys in the nets and ends by saying that their bowling was fantastic in this game.

Rishabh Pant, the Delhi skipper is down for a chat. He begins by saying that the bowlers were just all over the place and it was one of those days where nothing went to their favor. Adds that as a batting unit, they talked about going as hard as possible. It's better to get all out than not trying to chase the target. On being asked about reviews, he states it was too loud and there was some issue with the screen and says nothing can be done about it. He says that it's time to reflect from an individual point of view and come positive in the next game. On being asked about his fitness, he states he is doing well and enjoying his time in the field.

Delhi had a win under their belt coming into this match but needed another win to really get up and running. However, it turned out to be a total disaster from their perspective as their bowling which was the most economical inside the Powerplay this season went for 80 plus runs in this match. Once that happened, everything went downhill. With the bat, it was a very, very tough ask but certainly, the top order could have done a lot more. Prithvi Shaw was the first one to get out and Mitchell Marsh once again flopped. Abishek Porel came in as the Impact Player but got out on a duck and David Warner too couldn't kick on. Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs though played a couple of stellar knocks which will be a huge positive for Delhi. However, they need to perform better as a team if they want their season to get back on track.

Wow, what a win here for Kolkata as they make it three wins out of three to start the campaign and go joint top with Rajasthan on 6 points. This is also the first time in 17 seasons that Kolkata have won their first three games of the season. Yes, the foundation was laid in the first innings by the batters and it was a score that was almost impossible to even dream of but the pacers too did a stellar job in the Powerplay. The Impact Player, Vaibhav Arora made an instant impact by picking up Prithvi Shaw, and after that Mitchell Starc joined the party, getting rid of both his fellow Aussies as Arora got his second wicket too and Kolkata had 90% of the game in the bag then and there. There was some quality ball-striking from the opposition in the middle phase but that was bound to happen on such a good pitch. Varun Chakaravarthy too got wickets at the right time and ensured that Kolkata not only won the game but did so by a big margin as well. Arora and Varun Chakaravarthy ended with three wickets each.

OUT! TAKEN! DONE AND DUSTED! KOLKATA WIN BY A HUGE MARGIN OF 106 RUNS! This is the first time they have won the first three games on the trot in this competition. This is a well-directed bumper on the stumps, Anrich Nortje mistimes the pull shot straight into the hands of the skipper Shreyas Iyer stationed at mid on. A massive victory for Kolkata which will tremendously inflate their net run rate. They still remain unbeaten in this season and climb to the top of the table.

17.10

Slow and on a length, Anrich Nortje swings and misses.

16.52

Bowls a slower one on a shortish length, Anrich Nortje cuts it off the top edge that flies over the slip cordon. They take two.

WIDE! A steep bumper on the stumps over the batter's head. Wide given.

16.41

A vicious bumper angling on the bodyline, Ishant Sharma moves away to the leg side and fends it off to the leg side before scampering for a single. Phil Salt throws the ball quickly and has a shy at the bowler's end. It hits Ishant in the process.

16.30

Nails a precise yorker, Ishant Sharma somehow jams his bat and squeezes it to the off side.

16.20

Short in length again around off, Ishant Sharma moves to the leg side and looks to cut but gets beaten.

Ishant Sharma is the last man in.

16.1W

OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Vaibhav Arora gets his third and he has used his short deliveries to precision! A well-directed short-pitched delivery on the off stump line, it climbs up further after pitching, Rasikh Dar is too late on the pull shot and gets it off the top edge of the willow as the ball flies to the right of the keeper. Phil Salt completes the catch and takes it comfortably. Kolkata are just one wicket away from a comprehensive win.

15.50

Another carrom ball outside off, Anrich Nortje drives it to sweepers for a single.

15.20

Bowls a carrom ball, on a length, Anrich Nortje misses to pick the line and gets beaten getting a ping on the front pad.

Strategic break! Well, this game seems to be done and dusted and Kolkata are heading towards a massive win which would also make it three out of three for them. The Delhi middle order has fought valiantly but the damage done at the top was just too much to repair and they will have to go back to the drawing board. Let's see how many more runs can Delhi get. Also, Anrich Nortje walks out to bat now.

15.1W

OUT! TAKEN! Another one falls and it is finishing quite quickly now! Sunil Narine lands this on a fullish length in front of the stumps, Sumit Kumar sits down on his knee and looks to clear the fence but he mistimes it uppishly and finds Manish Pandey at deep mid-wicket who comes forward a few yards and takes a regulation grab. He won't drop those sitters. Delhi are 8 down now.

Rasikh Dar is the new batter in at number 9.

14.5W

OUT! CAUGHT! Tristan Stubbs just had to keep pushing and ended up getting out in the process. Varun Chakaravarthy floats this one up on middle and leg and asks the batter to take it on. Tristan Stubbs sits down to flick it away but ends up hitting it a bit too square behind square leg. Mitchell Starc runs to his right at deep square leg and slides across to take a fine catch and Stubbs has to walk back after a fine knock as well. Varun Chakaravarthy gets his third wicket.

FOUR! Solid hit! Goes full and wide but ends up offering too much width, Tristan Stubbs stays deep in the crease and thumps it over covers for a boundary.

Commentary

We are back with the all-important run chase to commence. The two Umpires make their way out to the middle. Kolkata players are seen in the last-minute huddle before spreading out in the field. Prithvi Shaw and David Warner are the two openers for Delhi. Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been subbed out and Vaibhav Arora has taken his place in the field. Mitchell Starc will be initiating the bowling attack for Kolkata. Let's play...

... The Run Chase...

Right then, Delhi has a mammoth total to chase, and the onus will be on how their openers initiate the innings. Kolkata will feel they have way more than enough runs on the board, but given the nature of this tournament, they can't afford to sit too close to comfort. Stay tuned for the run chase to begin!

Angkrish Raghuvanshi is down for a quick chat for his fantastic 54 off 27 balls. He says that when he went out to bat, he just watched the ball and didn't think much. Adds that he just backed his instincts and it turned out to be positive and says that it was box-office stuff watching Narine at the other end. Reckons that the game isn't over and everything was coming onto the bat but believes that they have quality spinners.

Meanwhile, the Delhi bowlers found themselves under intense pressure from the very beginning, as they struggled to contain the flow of runs. To be frank, their bowling lacked consistency in both line and length, allowing the Kolkata batters plenty of opportunities to play their attacking strokes. Adding to their troubles was a lack of sharpness in the field, compounding their woes on what turned out to be a dismal day for the team. It seemed like nothing went according to plan, with runs being conceded freely all around the ground. While Anrich Nortje and Mitchell Marsh managed to find some success, the rest of the bowling unit endured a torrid time, as they were consistently punished by the Kolkata batters. Khaleel got a scalp to his name as well but the damage was already done. Ishant Sharma finished off with an excellent final over giving away just 8 runs and a couple of wickets.

Kolkata exploded with an onslaught of aggressive strokes, spearheaded by the dynamic duo of Phil Salt and Sunil Narine. Salt played a strong quick cameo up top. Meanwhile, Narine, after a tentative start, transformed into a powerhouse, launching a ferocious assault on the bowlers with his audacious strokeplay. Narine blazed his way to a blistering fifty in the blink of an eye. He mercilessly punished all the loose deliveries that came his way and toyed around the fielding restrictions. Kolkata raced to a staggering 88 runs in the Powerplay. It laid a formidable groundwork for the team's charge. Narine kept clearing the boundaries with ease and used the smaller dimensions of the ground with precision. Also, debutant Angkrish Raghuvanshi's inning was nothing short of impressive, as he notched up a superb fifty, proving his worth and justifying the faith placed in him by the team management. Following the dismissals of Sunil Narine and Raghuvanshi, Andre Russell stepped up to the plate and assumed control of the innings. With his explosive batting prowess, Russell led Kolkata's charge, ultimately guiding them to breach the coveted 200-run mark. Rinku Singh also played an aggressive and crucial cameo in the slog overs and both helped Kolkata to post a mammoth total of 272.

An anti-climatic final over after a sensational batting display throughout. What an electrifying first half, a glimpse of what we saw a few days ago in Hyderabad. Fans were treated to absolute carnage and a barrage of maximums, with 18 sixes and 22 fours lighting up the match. But unarguably, Kolkata has an upper hand as they end their innings, being just five short of the highest total in the history of this great tournament.

No, Hyderabad fans can relax as their highest total is still intact! Ishant Sharma nails the yorker this time and gets it around the off stump, Venkatesh Iyer stays deep and looks to power it away but toe-ends it towards mid-wicket for a single. Just 8 off the final over but Kolkata finish with a gigantic total of 272/7 on the board!

19.54

FOUR! Venkatesh Iyer finally gets on strike and picks up a boundary right away. Pitched up around off stump, Iyer stays really deep in the crease and just shimmies to the off side before thumping it flat over the bowler's head for a boundary. Kolkata can still equal that 277 total with a maximum here. Can Iyer provide a big flourish?

19.41

Full and straight, nicely driven back past the bowler by Mitchell Starc. The fielder from long off is quick to move to his left and keeps it down to a single.

Mitchell Starc is next to bat now.

19.3W

OUT! CAUGHT! Ishant Sharma is just gathering some momentum here for Delhi before the innings break. Slightly slower and bowled into the pitch, well wide of the off stump. Ramandeep Singh has to really reach for it and can't quite keep his balance whilst looking to go over covers. The ball gets sliced to the left of cover where Prithvi Shaw takes a comfortable running catch.

19.22

Oh, dear! That could have been nasty! Misses the yorker and serves a high full toss outside off, Ramandeep Singh tries to be inventive by shuffling across and has to adjust late. He tries to scoop it over short fine leg but the ball goes off the bat and then off the helmet as well before going wide of fine leg. They pick up a couple of runs and a concussion check will now follow.

Ramandeep Singh is in at number 8. Will Kolkata breach 277? Let's find out.

19.1W

OUT! TIMBER! Delivery of the day and even Andre Russell has to applaud that one! Ishant Sharma steams in and bowls the most perfect yorker you will see at 144 clicks. This one is bowled on off stump and just tails in late and sneaks under the willow. Dre Russ looks to jam it out but it is just too good and he finds himself on the deck as the wickets get castled behind him. A superb knock though from Russell.

Venkatesh Iyer walks in at number 7. It will be Ishant Sharma to bowl the final over of the first innings.

OUT! CAUGHT! Rinku Singh departs but he will know that he has done his job brilliantly here. Quick and full outside off, gets the length correct this time. Rinku looks to get under it but ends up toe-ending the ball across towards mid on. David Warner there jumps and pouches the ball well with both hands. Rinku departs after an entertaining cameo.

18.54

FOUR! 25 off the over and there's still one ball remaining! Back of a length and outside off, enough room for Rinku Singh to get his hands through the ball and hammer it away through covers for a boundary.

18.46

SIX! That is massive and Kolkata are inching closer to that highest total. Just too full and in the slot outside off, Rinku Singh gets under it and whacks it a long way over wide long off for a third maximum of the over.

18.41wd

WIDE! Errs in line looking for the wide yorker and gets it outside the tramline.

18.32

Hard length outside off, Rinku Singh goes hard at it and slashes it away over the point region, on the bounce to Axar Patel in the deep and they sprint back for two runs.

18.26

SIX! Slam-dunked over deep extra cover and the 250 is up for Kolkata! Goes for the wide yorker but ends up serving a low full toss, Rinku Singh stays low again and thumps it over covers for a biggie.

18.16

SIX! Not a bad ball really but Rinku Singh gets a maximum. Full and wide, angling away at 137 clicks, Singh stays low and just slices it away over deep backward point, using the pace and for a maximum.

Anrich Nortje (3-0-34-2) to bowl the penultimate over. Khaleel Ahmed has been subbed out and Abishek Porel has taken the field in his place.

Adding to the misery, Delhi are running way behind the clock being 3 overs behind. An extra fielder will now have to be inside the 30-yard circle

Around the wicker now on a length, angling on off, Andre Russell slices it over short third for a single.

17.40

A pacy short ball, pushed wide of the off stump, Andre Russell goes after it but only connects with thin air.

17.32

Delhi are feeling the heat as Sumit Kumar now fumbles in the deep. Short of a length and angled well across the off stump, Andre Russell slashes it away to deep cover-point where Sumit misfields and allows the second run.

17.32nb

No ball! Oh, dear! That was a beamer from Khaleel Ahmed and this over is getting lenghtier every ball. Looks for the wide yorker but the ball slips out and turns out to be a high full toss around off stump, Rinku Singh manages to hut it away through covers for one. A Free Hit to follow as well.

Quick again from Varun Chakaravarthy and on a length on middle, this one turns in sharply after pitching and Sumit Kumar gets beaten past the inside edge while looking to block. Is that a fair catch? The on-field Umpire sends it upstairs. The replays role in from several angles. The split screen comes up now. It confirms that Varun Chakaravarthy's fingers are underneath the ball and it has been called as a fair catch. Prithvi Shaw walks back.

17.31wd

WIDE! Full and wide outside off, really close to the tramline but just swinging away. Rinku Singh leaves it alone for a wide.

Rinku Singh walks out to the middle at number 6 for Kolkata.

17.2W

OUT! CAUGHT! Some relief for Khaleel Ahmed and Delhi as Shreyas Iyer departs. Khaleel bowls a heavy short ball outside off stump and gets it at a difficult height. Iyer looks to take it on but gets rushed and doesn't get on top of the bounce. Iyer ends up lofting it off the top edge in front of mid off where Tristan Stubbs settles under the ball and reverse-cups the skier.

17.16

SIX! Oh, that's gone all the way! Misses the wide yorker and serves a low full toss instead, Shreyas Iyer just reaches out, one hand comes off the handle and the ball gets sliced over the third man fence for a maximum.

17.12wd

WIDE! Full and wide outside the off stump, Andre Russell tries to reach it but fails to do so and a wide is called. Also, the ball is spilled behind the stumps and the batters pick up a late single as well which didn't quite please the Delhi players, sloppy from them.

Full and straight at the stumps, jammed out firmly to mid off for no run. Can Kolkata surpass that unprecedented total of 277 which was put on by Hyderabad a few days back?

16.56

SIX! What a sound the ball made when it left the bat, wow! Too short again from Marsh but not much pace behind it and this is pushed outside off. Shreyas Iyer doesn't move his feet much and just drags the pull cleanly over deep mid-wicket for a biggie.

16.41

Goes full and straight and nails the yorker, Andre Russell digs it out off the leading edge to mid off for an easy single.

16.36

SIX! High and long enough! Off-paced delivery, short and around offstump, Andre Russell is a bit early in his swing but that raw power of his takes the ball sailing over the head of the fielder at deep mid-wicket for a maximum.

16.31wd

WIDE! Another bumper, dug in short and over the stumps, Andre Russell ducks under it and a wide is signalled.

16.24

FOUR! Streaky but will do nicely for Dre Russ and Kolkata. Well banged in and outside off as well, Andre Russell swings hard at it and gets a top edge that flies down to the vacant third man region for a boundary.

16.11

Slightly back of a length and outside off, Shreyas Iyer stands tall and slaps it away to sweeper cover for one.

Strategic Break! Time for another strategic break. Well, nothing has changed from the previous one as Kolkata batters are attacking the Delhi bowlers right, left, and center. They have already breached the 200-run mark with four overs remaining in the bank, and more importantly, with Andre Russell standing unbeaten on the crease. He has already shown glimpses of what he is intending to do in the slog overs. Delhi will aim to get him out right after the break and slow down the scoring rate. Mitchell Marsh (2-0-18-1) is back into the attack and replaces Rasikh Dar.

Strategic Break! Time for a hydration break after this breathless batting display from the Kolkata batters. Phil Salt and Sunil Narine again provided a solid start for Kolkata and fetched 88 runs in the Powerplay itself. Sunil Narine continues to clear the boundary with ease and in an icy-cool attitude. It will be the pairing of Phil Salt and Sunil Narine to open the innings for Kolkata. Khaleel Ahmed has the new ball in hand and would look to get it swinging right away. A first slip and wide slip in place. Let's go...

Delhi's skipper, Rishabh Pant says they would have batted first too as it might get a bit slow but isn't too worried about it. Adds that he is happy to have performed well last time but wants to take it one game at a time. Mentions that the bowlers did really well in the Powerplay last time which they would want to replicate here as well. Adds that they aren't thinking about the fact they didn't start with Prithvi Shaw and mentions that he got his opportunity when he was ready. Ends by saying that the support has been immense here and informs that Mukesh Kumar is out due to a niggle and Sumit Kumar replaces him.

Kolkata continued their dominance by defeating Bengaluru once again on their home ground. Bowling first, Kolkata successfully restricted Bengaluru to a below 200 on what seemed to be a flat track. Harshit Rana impressed yet again, claiming a couple of crucial wickets and maintaining his threat to opposition batters this season. Andre Russell has been instrumental, delivering valuable contributions with both bat and ball. However, the high-profile addition of Mitchell Starc is yet to live up to expectations, struggling to find his rhythm and going for plenty of runs in two games without picking up a wicket. Kolkata will be hoping for Starc to hit his stride in the upcoming contest to further strengthen their bowling attack. Kolkata appears to have found their ideal opener in Phil Salt, who once again delivered a solid start in partnership with the aggressive Sunil Narine. Their explosive batting set the tone for Kolkata's chase. Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer's quickfire 50 and Shreyas Iyer's steady inning provided stability in the middle order, ensuring Kolkata coasted to their second win of the season without much trouble. Remarkably, Kolkata remains one of the two undefeated teams in the tournament thus far.

Delhi's commanding 20-run victory over Chennai showcased their dominance in that game. The addition of Prithvi Shaw as an opener alongside David Warner bolstered their batting lineup, posing a formidable threat to opposition bowlers. Although Shaw fell just short of a fifty in his comeback game and showed a glimpse of why he is a force to be reckoned with. Warner continued his impressive form with another crucial half-century and remains undeterred and dangerous. Rishabh Pant's strategic promotion to number 3 paid off as he unleashed his aggressive batting style to score a blistering 51 runs. Pant's solid form since his return and his adept captaincy further strengthened Delhi's performance. In the bowling department, Khaleel Ahmed's stellar performance stifled Chennai's top order, claiming crucial wickets while maintaining an economical spell, backed by Mukesh Kumar's effective contribution. Looking ahead, the challenge for Anrich Nortje will be to contain opposition batters and minimize runs conceded. Despite earlier defeats, this convincing win against Chennai will surely boost Delhi's morale and confidence going forward. Delhi would be expecting their all-rounders to step up a bit and contribute more responsibly.
