Jake Fraser-McGurk is up for a chat. He says that he wanted to get to a fast start to boost their Net Run Rate. Adds that he wanted to keep going as long as he can but didn’t come off today. Shares that the wicket was good and the balls came pretty well. Mentions that it is surreal when they hear Ricky Ponting in the dressing room. Shares that they got confidence and are aware about their business. Ends by sharing that finishing the game early was always on the card and glad it came off that way.

Earlier in the game, Gujarat posted the lowest total in this season. Rashid Khan was their top-scorer with 31 runs which says it all about their performance. Delhi were all over them with Mukesh Kumar being the pick of the bowlers with three wickets while Ishant Sharma and Tristan Stubbs got a couple each. Axar Patel and Khaleel Ahmed also chipped in with one each. While chasing, they did lose a few wickets, but it was a walk in the park for them.

Delhi are still alive in the tournament while Gujarat needs to win most of their upcoming games to have a chance to qualify for the playoffs. Things are getting interesting in the Indian T20 League as any team can beat anyone at any point of time now.

Gujarat, on the other hand, just did not have enough runs on the board. However, they still managed to put a bit of pressure on their opponents but it was never going to be enough. Sandeep Warrier on his debut picked up a couple of wickets while Spencer Johnson and Rashid Khan chipped in with one each. However, ultimately they had to suffer one of their biggest defeats.

Delhi got off to flier with Jake Fraser-McGurk hitting a few lusty blows including a six on his very first ball. The former perished but got his team in a good position of chasing this total down quickly to improve their NRR. Rishabh Pant stayed till the end along with Sumit Kumar and finished things off in just 8.5 overs.

DELHI DOMINATION! A fantastic all-round performance from them and they have blown away Gujarat at their own den. This will give them a lot of confidence to go further in the tournament. Shubhman Gill will be very disappointed with this result as they were never really in the game and took a massive hit to their NRR as well. They will need to go back to the drawing board and come back stronger in the next one.

Commentary

Welcome back. The umpires and players return to the park. Prithvi Shaw and Jake Fraser-McGurk are the openers for Delhi. It will be Sandeep Warrier with the ball for Gujarat. Here we go!

…THE RUN CHASE…

Right then, Delhi need just 90 to win and get two points on board. How soon can they do it or will Gujarat spring in a surprise? We shall find out. Join us in a bit for the second essay.

Tristan Stubbs is up for a chat. He says that it was an amazing team performance. Adds that it is nice to get a couple of wickets and credits the other bowlers who were fantastic. Mentions that he just tried to bowl wicket-to-wicket and it worked. Tells that he always tries to bowl to Pant in the nets and made sure that he notices him and finally got his chance in the game. Says that the Impact Player rule has given the freedom to teams to go full attacking but it feels good that the bowlers can also make an impact like they did in this game.

This is the lowest total for Gujarat in this tournament and the home side had a horror day. Delhi were terrific with the ball with Mukesh Kumar being the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets while Ishant Sharma and Tristan Stubbs accounted for two each. Khaleel Ahmed and Axar Patel with one apiece did a fine job to round off a complete team performance.

An outstanding bowling display from Delhi sees them bundle out Gujarat for just 89 inside the 18 overs. Opting to bowl first, Delhi started brilliantly as Ishant Sharma removed the skipper of Gujarat for just 2 runs. The home side, Gujarat, could not recover from there as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and did not get any momentum in the innings. Gujarat lost four big wickets inside the powerplay and could never recover from there. Rashid Khan, coming in at 8, played a decent cameo of 31 off 24 and showed some fight but the rest of the batting crumbled against the Delhi bowling and failed to bat out their overs.

17.3W

OUT! BOWLED'EM! All over for Gujarat! Mukesh Kumar goes full and straight in line with the stumps, tailing in, Noor Ahmad backs away and has a swipe at it but misses it completely as the ball goes onto to rattle the off-pole. Gujarat have been bowled out of just 89 runs!

17.21

Fuller one and around off, Spencer Johnson pushes it straight to short covers where a fumble allows a single.

Spencer Johnson is the last batter for Gujarat.

17.1W

OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Mukesh Kumar gets his second wicket now! He bangs this one into the pitch hard and just around off, Rashid Khan sways away and tries to ramp it away but only manages to get a slight outside edge behind where Rishabh Pant makes no mistake. Rashid Khan goes back after a decent knock but Gujarat are nine down now and in danger of getting bowled out under 100.

Mukesh Kumar (2-0-13-1) is back to bowl.

SIX! BANG! First one of the match! This is floated, full and around off, Rashid Khan goes through with the slog nicely and tonks it over the long off fence for a biggie.

16.10

Tossed up, full and on middle, Rashid Khan comes down the track to heave it across the line, but gets an inside edge on the bounce onto his boot, the ball lobs up to the right of the keeper where Rishabh Pant grabs it with one hand. The umpire sends it upstairs to check and the replay clearly shows that it has bounced on the pitch.

Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill are the two openers for Gujarat. Khaleel Ahmed has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Let's play...

Shubman Gill, the captain of Gujarat says that they would have bowled first as well. Adds that it looks like a good wicket and in the past couple of days there has not been much dew here. Mentions that they have played good cricket throughout the season but there have been sometimes when they have played average cricket which they will need to improve. Informs that there are three changes with Wriddhiman Saha and David Miller coming back in the team and Sandeep Warrier making his debut for the team in place Umesh Yadav.

Rishabh Pant, the Delhi skipper, says that they will bowl first. He feels that the wicket is unknown and their batting is strong so chasing makes sense. States that keeping dew in mind, it helps them in the second innings. Adds that they are looking to take one match at a time and not thinking too far ahead. Mentions that death bowling is a concern but the players are improving with each outing. Shares that one or two wins together can change the team momentum. Ends by sharing that David Warner misses out and Sumit Kumar comes into the side.

Hello and a warm welcome to our coverage of Match 32 in the Indian T20 League. Gujarat are taking on Delhi at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both sides are coming off fine wins and will be high on confidence. The home side, Gujarat, is playing after a week and will be ready to go. They last played Rajasthan and won by a close margin of 3 wickets on the game's final ball. Gujarat conceded 196 after bowling first with only Rashid Khan doing a commendable job with the ball. During the chase, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan started well but their middle order failed to capitalize and lost their way. Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia's cameos helped them get over the line. Gujarat have won three and lost three games so far and will be looking to add two more points to their tally in front of their home crowd.

…MATCHDAY…

Match 32 is poised to continue this trend, as the action shifts to Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium in the western state, where Gujarat, the runners-up, will face off against Delhi. Gujarat has cultivated a reputation for thriving in nail-biting scenarios, with a roster filled with diverse match-winners who consistently rise to the occasion, ensuring the team's success. One such match-winning performance was played by the Afghan sensation Rashid Khan, but with the bat. Running behind the eight ball while chasing a daunting target of 197, their skipper Shubman Gill emerged as an unbreakable pillar in the way, showcasing his resilience with a superb inning of 72 runs, well supported by his opening partner Sai Sudharsan's yet another strong consistent performance, contributing 35 runs. Despite the setback of losing key wickets of the middle order, Gujarat refused to succumb to pressure. Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia then turned the tables with a blitz of quick runs in the latter stages of the match, wresting control from the opposition's grasp. Thanks to their impactful contributions, Gujarat successfully chased down 35 runs in the final two overs, securing a thrilling victory. Gujarat's top-order batters and finishers have indeed displayed remarkable solidity, evident in their ability to execute challenging chases even in the absence of key players like David Miller. This underscores the depth of talent within their squad. However, concerns have been mounting due to disappointing performances from seasoned players like Vijay Shankar in the middle order. The team's management has been experimenting with various options in an attempt to address this issue and find the right balance in the lineup. Gujarat's bowling unit has encountered a few hurdles in the absence of Mohammed Shami. While Mohit Sharma has assumed a senior role capably, the team seeks to bolster its control over the game. The spin combination of Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad adds depth to their arsenal, and Gujarat aims to harness this resource effectively. Following a shaky start to the tournament, Delhi bounced back with a thrilling victory against Lucknow and they just might have found a perfect overseas middle-order batter in the form of the young and talented Jake Fraser-McGurk who roared in his debut game with the bat and scored a highly impactful half-century. Prithvi Shaw has indeed displayed promise with the bat, showcasing his talent and potential. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant continues to exhibit his unique brand of aggressive cricket, adding dynamism to the team's batting lineup. Tristan Stubbs too, has been equally impressive down the order. However, the news of Mitchell Marsh's departure to Australia due to a hamstring tear comes as a blow to Delhi, as his all-round abilities provided valuable depth to the squad. On the bowling front, Khaleel Ahmed has given positive returns by taking wickets with consistency and Kuldeep Yadav has asked tough questions to the opposition batters with his crafty deceptive spin. The others too, have done a decent job. While they are still languishing in the bottom three, this team poses a serious threat with the likes of David Warner in the ranks too. Will Delhi upset Gujarat in Ahmedabad? Or will Gujarat continue to dominate at their home ground? A lot of match-ups and contests to look upon. Whom are you supporting?
