Right then, that is it from this game where India registered a dominating victory over the Afghans and bagged the series. They will eye for the whitewash now while Afghanistan will play for some pride and finish on a positive note. The 3rd and final T20I will be played on 17th January, Wednesday at 7 pm IST (1.30 pm GMT), but as you know, you can always join us early for all the build-up to the game. Until then, cheers and goodbye!

Axar Patel is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his excellent bowling on this flat track. He says that he is feeling a lot less cold here. Tells that you always feel good seeing these numbers (On his 200th T20 wicket), but when you play a lot for India, that feels even better. Mentions that he has worked on varying his pace in the last couple of years but has not found the confidence, but he is in a good place now. Says he can now bowl in the Powerplay and in the death as well, and tries to let the batters take the risks and then change according to the situations. Further adds that it is all about believing in yourself, and he is happy with his performances in recent times.

Rohit Sharma, the victorious skipper of India says that it's a great feeling to play 150 matches and it's been a long journey since 2007 and that he has cherished every moment. Says that they were pretty clear with the approach and he's very proud of the way the batters executed every plan with precision. Lauds Dube and Jaiswal and say that they have been hitting the ball cleanly and have matured with time. Says that their range of shots is pretty incredible and that they have asked Dube to play attacking and he is doing exactly what he is told to do. Adds that both of them took on the spinners with some powerful hits which sealed the game then and there. Ends up saying that he has come out and played two crucial innings for them and hopes that he continues to do so further as well.

Ibrahim Zadran, the captain of Afghanistan says that they were a lot of runs short here. Adds that they started well with the bat, but in the middle overs lost their way and then finished well. Tells that they play well in patches, but haven't been consistent enough throughout a full game. Mentions that they need to stop committing mistakes as the T20 World Cup is coming up shortly. Praises Gulbadin Naib for his knock and says that he is the most senior and everyone trusts him which has paid off for the tram.

Presentation Time...

Shivam Dube, one of the architects of this chase is up for a chat. He says that he is very happy to get an opportunity to contribute for the team and that the skipper is very happy with him. Adds that he and Yashasvi Jaiswal are both stroke players and know each other's game pretty well. He says that his job in the middle was to take on the spinners, and even Jaiswal was hitting it cleanly which was an advantage. And then they both decided to finish off the game as soon as possible. Adds that there are many things that he has worked on in the past few months. Being focused is more important to him, and he says that he is also working on his bowling, says that he didn't bowl well in this game which is part and parcel of the sport. Ends up by saying that he will continue to contribute whenever needed.

Earlier in the game, Afghanistan posted a fighting total courtesy of a quick-fire fifty from Gulbadin Naib with good contribution from Najibullah Zadran, and quick-fire cameos from Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Karim Janat towards the end. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers for India with three wickets while Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel got a couple each, and Shivam Dube chipped in with one as well. While chasing, we got to see some classy shots from Virat Kohli and then it was all about the Jaiswal-Dube show at Indore which blew away the Afghans and helped the hosts clinch the series.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, will be really disappointed with their bowling effort here. They got the early breakthrough through Fazalhaq Farooqi but failed to build on that. Firstly, they couldn't stop Virat Kohli and once they got rid of him, it was the two youngsters from India who took them to the cleaners and showed them how to bat on a flat surface like this. Karim Janat managed to get two scalps in one over and was the only positive for them, along with Farooqi who also did well. Naveen-ul-Haq got one wicket as well, but that was never going to be enough against this explosive batting lineup of India.

Despite losing skipper Rohit Sharma for a duck, India got off to an absolute flier with Yashasvi Jaiswal continuing to show his aggressive game, but to the surprise, Virat Kohli also took an attacking approach and played a quick-fire cameo of 29 off just 16 balls with five eye-catching boundaries on his return to T20Is. Both of them utilised the Powerplay well and built up a half-century stand. Shivam Dube then joined Jaiswal and wasted no time as both of them went hammer and tons. They punished the bowlers all around the park, and it was a scintillating display of power-hitting from these two. They added 92 runs together in absolutely no time and made this chase look like a cakewalk, and in doing so, they notched up their respective fifties as well. Jaiswal couldn't stay till the end as he was dismissed for 68 off just 34 balls. However, Dube did not stop there and stayed unbeaten on 63 off just 32 balls and finished the job alongside Rinku Singh with 26 balls to spare.

INDIA SEAL THIS SERIES IN SOME STYLE! All the eyes were on Rohit Sharma who was playing his 150th T20I, and Virat Kohli who made his return to the side, but the limelight in this game was stolen by the two youngsters, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube with their breathtaking power-hitting in this game. With that, they take an unassailable lead and also win their 15th consecutive T20I series at home.

And that will do it! India seal the series and in what style? Hurls it on the pads and Shivam Dube looks to flick it off but misses and the ball thuds the pads and trickles down to fine leg. They run for a leg-bye single. With that India have clinched the series comprehensively and it's the youngsters who have stepped up to do the needful job for India. India win by 6 wickets and with 26 balls to spare.

Commentary

We are back with the run chase and the umpires can be seen taking a stroll to the pitch and so do the Afghanistan fielders who are taking their respective positions. The Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and the skipper Rohit Sharma to open for the Men In Blue. Fazalhaq Farooqi is with the new ball and is raring to go. Let's play...

... RUN CHASE ...

Right then, Afghanistan have posted a good defendable total of 172 on the board and they will look forward to picking early wickets in the Powerplay and leveling the series. Whereas India on the other end will be batting an eye to seal the series with another win. And with Virat Kohli back in the pack, the hosts' batting lineup has some real firepower. The run chase is just a few minutes away. Stay tuned.

As for India, the spin was brought early and that trick worked pretty much for the hosts. Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel struck one wicket each inside the powerplay and dismantled the opening stand of Afghanistan. But the pacers bowled some poor lines and lengths and kept serving gifts to Gulbadin Naib. Rohit Sharma was pretty brilliant with his bowling changes and Axar Patel was brought back to the attack, he didn't disappoint at all as he got rid of Gulbadin Naib who was looking pretty dangerous. He was clinical with his economy and picked two wickets. Shivam Dube too chipped in with a scalp of Omarzai and it was Ravi Bishnoi who dismissed Nabi. Shivam Dube went for plenty at the back end of the innings as he conceded 20 off the penultimate over. Arshdeep Singh finished off with a fantastic economical spell and a phenomenal final over of the innings and ended up with 3 wickets.

So this brings us to the end of the first half of the play and what a riveting contest we have witnessed. Afghanistan lost their openers quite early inside the powerplay itself and was taken aback. But Gulbadin Naib looked as if he entered the crease with clear intentions to just smack the ball out of the park and he did so quite well by taking the pacers to the cleaners scoring a brilliant and quick half-century and helping the run rate to fly. But he perished sooner and was followed by Omarzai. Mohammad Nabi did try to stitch a partnership with Naib but he too, departed after a sluggish start. Karim Janat and Mujeeb did hit a few crucial boundaries to breach the 150 mark for the tourists. Mujeeb ur Rahman played a scintillating cameo and accumulated 21 important runs for his team in just 9 deliveries.

We are all set to begin! The big bell has been rung and the players make their way out in the middle now. The Indian players spread out and take their respective field positions. Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are the two openers for Afghanistan. Arshdeep Singh has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Let's play...

Ibrahim Zadran, the captain of Afghanistan says that they will try to bat well and put a good score on the board. Adds that they also wanted to bowl first due to the conditions and the ground being a small one. Tells that they made some mistakes in the last game and they have discussed about it and will look to execute their plans better. Says that Rahmat Shah is not playing and Noor Ahmad comes in for him. Ends by saying that playing an extra spinner is a tactical decision considering the ground conditions.

Rohit Sharma, the skipper of India says there's no particular reason to bowl first and that it's just the nature of the ground. He says that it's a chasing ground with pretty small boundaries. He's happy with the previous game and says that the guys are executing the plans being spoken to them. Says that they have asked for specific roles for the guys and they are doing accordingly so far. not much, they don't have any baggage and it is all about backing them, allowing them to be free on the ground. He says that they will do things keeping the World Cup in mind, but adds that they they know results are also important. Further adds that they want to try out a few things but the end result also matters a lot and winning is more important than anything. There's a huge roar in the crowd as he says Virat Kohli is in the XI with Yashasvi Jaiswal in place of Tilak Varma and Shubman Gill.

Afghanistan (Playing XI) - Rahmanullah Gurbaz (WK), Ibrahim Zadran (C), Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Najibullah Zadran, Karim Janat, Gulbadin Naib, Noor Ahmad (In place of Rahmat Shah), Fazalhaq Farooqi, Naveen-ul-Haq, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

India (Playing XI) - Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal (In place of Shubman Gill), Virat Kohli (In place of Tilak Varma), Shivam Dube, Jitesh Sharma (WK), Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar.

TOSS - The coin goes up and lands in favor of Rohit Sharma. India have elected to BOWL first.

PITCH REPORT - Deep Dasgupta is pitchside and says that this ground is small and we can expect a lot of boundaries. Nick Knight joins him and says that it's pretty much flat and traditionally a very high-scoring venue and obviously the smaller boundaries are one of the reasons. Adds that the surface is really flat and the cracks are firm. Tells that there won't be any turn but maybe a bit of a little movement initially with the new ball for the pacers. He ends by saying that the team who wins would look to bat under the lights and with the dew coming, batting first will have an additional advantage.

Also, the good news for all the staunch cricket enthusiasts is that the two greats of the sport, Rohit Sharma, who is standing on the cusp of his 150th T20 International, and Virat Kohli will be together seen donning the Blues in the shortest format for the first time since the T20 World Cup 2022 Semi-Final.

Afghanistan, though posted a decent total last time, thanks to the ‘President’ Mohammad Nabi’s fantastic knock down the order. However, the tourists missed the magic of Rashid Khan due to a back injury and that huge void was indeed felt. The hosts clinched the victory, and now, India’s eyes are set on sealing the series in Indore. The anticipation is through the roof, and we're in for another exciting showdown! Toss and team sheets coming up very soon, so stay tuned for the play-by-play action. Let the games begin!

Hello and a warm welcome to our live coverage of the second T20I clash between India and Afghanistan at the Holkar Stadium in Indore! India's spirits are soaring sky-high after a stellar performance in Mohali, led by Shivam Dube's scintillating 60 off 40 in the run chase and a crucial wicket in the first inning. Youngster Jitesh Sharma, too, added fireworks with the bat and stabilized the middle order and Rinku Singh helped India chase 158, and with Virat Kohli back in the pack for the rest of the series, the team looks rock-solid and much more assured.

...MATCH DAY...

It is now time for the 2nd T20I between India and Afghanistan at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. India are already 1-0 up in the three-game series and will look to seal the series right away. It was a very chilly evening in Mohali last time around and on a stellar batting track, Afghanistan put on a decent total which was well below par. The dynamic duo of Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz up top did get runs under their belt but neither looked convincing enough. The middle order did feature a couple of solid knocks from the veteran Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah Omarzai with the latter improving game after game. The bowling was mostly flat with only Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Fazalhaq Farooqi troubling the Indian batters. Naveen-ul-Haq was off colour and they do have a couple of more quality spinners in the form of Noor Ahmad and Qais Ahmad in the squad and we might see the Afghans turn back to a spin-heavy line-up. As for India, they had a pretty good outing even without the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli both of whom might feature in the next game. Arshdeep Singh was solid with the ball and Axar Patel put on yet another strong showing in the middle overs with only Ravi Bishnoi proving to be really expensive. With the option of Kuldeep Yadav on the bench, we might see India tinker with their spin set-up as well. Shivam Dube really impressed with the bat and even bowled a couple of handy overs. Dube's rise in the past year or so has given India a fine back-up when Hardik Pandya isn't available and Dube will be looking to make his stay a more permanent one in the national team. Indore's temperature and pitch will make for a high-scoring game but Afghanistan will need to be more impactful with the bat if they are to trouble the hosts. Can they do so and bring their spinners to the fore? Or will India once again prove to be just too hot to handle? We shall find out.
