Right then! The group stages have come to an end and the two teams in this tie will be heading back home as they take the bottom two spots in Group B. We have six teams that have progressed to the next stage and the action in ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier continues after a day's break on Thursday 29th June for match 1 of the Super Sixes. Group A table-toppers Zimbabwe lock horns against Oman who stood third in Group B at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo and the first ball will be bowled at 12.30 pm IST (7 am GMT) but as you know, our coverage will begin well in advance. Do join us for it and until then, goodbye and cheers!

Andy Balbirnie, the skipper of Ireland says that the side is delighted with a victory but they did not want to be in this state and this is the least they could do here. Adds that they wanted to go back with their heads held high with a convincing victory here and the team managed to do that. Claims that this was probably the hardest week ever since he got the job as the skipper and they would want to bounce back with a bang in the future. Mentions that the inning of Paul Stirling was the game changer for the side as everyone counts on his experience and he showed up big time today.

Vriitya Aravind, the vice-captain of the United Arab Emirates is up for a chat. He says that Muhammad Waseem's hand looks really bad and he has gone for a scan but hopefully, he will be back for their next game. Gives credit to the Irish batters who batted really well and claims that they lacked in quality against them. Mentions that Sanchit Sharma was really good for them in today's game and it is one of the positives they can take from the match. Ends by saying that the team they have got is a young one and they will like to grow better together.

Paul Stirling is the Player of the Match for his remarkable knock of 162 runs which included 15 fours and 8 maximums! He says that it was nice to get in on the act and get some runs under the belt. Adds that it feels so good to finally get a feel with the bat and score runs. Claims that it feels nice to get going in a positive direction and the victory tastes a lot better to the squad. Mentions that his partnership with Andy Balbirnie was really crucial for the side as they kept the scoring rate good and managed to see off the initial stages when the ball assisted the seamers.

Time for the presentations...

The Irish openers looked to be preparing for a long day's work as they started watchfully but lost Andy McBrine after a decent start. Paul Stirling and Andy Balbirnie added 184 runs in 178 deliveries for the second wicket and took the game out of the hands of their opponents. The skipper was dismissed on 66 as he looked to up the ante but Paul Stirling continued along his merry way notching up his 14th ODI century and was finally dismissed on 162 in 134 deliveries. Harry Tector played an attacking cameo and reached his half-century scoring 57 runs in 33 balls. Lorcan Tucker and George Dockrell provided the late onslaught as they fell short of the 350-run mark by one run. Sanchit Sharma was the pick of the bowlers by far for the Asian side as he claimed three wickets for 46 runs in his 7 overs and Ali Naseer chipped in with one.

Then came a minor fightback from the lower-order batters as Sanchit Sharma joined Basil Hameed in the middle and the two of them added 70 runs in 86 deliveries for the seventh wicket giving their fans something to cheer about. Hameed was dismissed on 39 and Sanchit missed out on his maiden half-century by six runs. There were some lusty blows from the tail but the Irish bowlers did a good job to wrap up the proceedings in 39 overs with United Arab Emirates scoring 211. It was a complete bowling performance by Ireland as Joshua Little, Andy McBrine, George Dockrell, and Curtis Campher all claimed two wickets each with Barry McCarthy chipping in with one and was the most economical of the lot. They backed up a good performance by their batters in the first inning.

UAE needed their skipper to click if they had any hopes of achieving a massive target and Muhammad Waseem showed intent straightaway. He scored 45 runs in 31 deliveries and was involved in a 58-run opening partnership with Aryansh Sharma. He was however dismissed in a school-boy fashion as he decided not to get back into the crease after being hit on the hand. His counterpart, Andy Balbirnie did not miss the opportunity to get the dangerous batter run out and UAE never seemed to recover from that blow. Aryansh and Vriitya Aravind got off to decent starts but could not capitalize and Ethan D'souza could not make the most of his first opportunity in this competition. With the wickets of Ali Naseer and Aayan Khan, UAE found themselves six down with 109 runs on the board and 241 runs still to get.

A thumping win for Ireland as they register the first win of the tournament and will now head back with some consolation! They have demolished a hapless United Arab Emirates side by 138 runs and the minnows will also be departing the competition but have no wins under their belt. This was a dead rubber but the manner in which the game panned out showed the massive gulf in quality between the two teams and the Asian side has a long way to go before they start challenging the big guns. Ireland have have been disappointing too barring this match and will be one of the Test-playing nations to not participate in the ICC Cricket World Cup later this year.

Commentary

The match officials are out in the middle followed by the players of Ireland and the two openers for UAE. Muhammad Waseem and Aryansh Sharma are the two openers for UAE, while Joshua Little will bowl the first over.

...RUN CHASE...

Right then, UAE have an uphill task to climb here but have some hard-hitting batters in their ranks so they will want to go out there and play freely. They will need their devastating openers to get them off to a good start and take the game as deep as possible. The Irish bowling has received some stick through the competition and will want to show their quality by defending this total. The pressure will not be there on them with the score that has been posted on the board and will want to stick to the basic. Do join us shortly as we return for the run chase. In the meantime do check out the fixtures for the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup which was announced earlier today.

The man of the moment, Paul Stirling is up for a chat! He says that it was really tough to start and the first few balls were good but the confidence grew with the innings. Adds that there are a few things they did well and doing the basics right was the most important of them. Mentions that the side would be happy with a win to end but will need to work really hard for it.

The Irish batters got off to a tentative start as they looked to negotiate the early swing on offer and soon began playing their shots. Sanchit Sharma came into the attack as the first change and drew first blood when he trapped Andy McBrine in front of the stumps on 24. It was one-way traffic thereafter as Paul Stirling and Andy Balbirnie added 184 runs in 178 deliveries for the second wicket. Ali Naseer got the much-needed breakthrough dismissing the skipper on 66. Paul Stirling went on a rampage reaching his 14th ODI century but was finally dismissed on 162 in 134 deliveries by Sanchit. Harry Tector provided the acceleration towards the end as he reached his half-century as well in quick time. Lorcan Tucker and George Dockrell provided the finishing touches as they fell just short of the 350-run mark. Sanchit Sharma was the pick of the bowlers by far as he claimed three wickets for 46 runs in his 7 overs.

This has been a dominating batting display by Ireland! They are looking to go out of the competition with a bang and they have posted a mammoth total of 349 runs courtesy of a well-constructed inning by their star batter Paul Stirling. The UAE bowlers were not up to the mark and they will be even more disappointed with their fielding effort as it was marred with dropped catches and misfields. Ireland will be silently confident of defending this target but will no that nothing can be taken for granted as we have already seen in the tournament.

Change of ends for George Dockrell works out well for the Irish side as he gets rid of Basil Hameed. Tossed up much slower through the air in the middle, Basil Hameed slogs this uppishly towards Curtis Campher at deep mid-wicket. Curtis Campher settles well underneath this and collects it nice and clean. The partnership is finally broken and the Irish could now look to run through the tail of UAE.

DRINKS! A late fightback from the UAE batters but it seems to be a long ask for the tail to make this happen. 173 runs are needed in 16 overs and Ireland will know that they have this tie well in control still but would have liked to wrap up this inning at the earliest. They will know that if they manage to break this partnership, they should not have too much trouble with the tail.

We are done with the prematch formalities as we are all set for the game to begin and the umpires walk towards the pitch. The United Arab Emirates players are in a huddle at the boundary line for a few last-minute instructions from their skipper before taking their respective positions on the field. Andy McBrine and Paul Stirling will open the inning for Ireland and will want to get a good partnership going here. Junaid Siddique has the new ball in his hand and is ready to begin proceedings. Let's play...

The umpires and the two sets of players have made their way out onto the ground and will lineup for the national anthems. It will be the national anthem of the United Arab Emirates first followed by Ireland's national anthem.

Andy Balbirnie, the captain of Ireland says that they would have bowled first as well as it is a hard ground to defend and there are some footmarks too so it may turn a bit in the later half of the game. Adds that the team is hurting a lot and they want to feel good so the best way is to put up a convincing performance here. He mentions that they are sticking with th same side.

Muhammad Waseem the skipper of the United Arab Emirates says that they would like to field first as the pitch looks solid and the conditions will assist the seamers early on. Adds that they would like to restrict the opponents to a low total. Also adds that the tournament did not go as per plan for them but the team will continue with the same process. Informs that the side has three changes for this game.

United Arab Emirates (Playing XI) - Muhammad Waseem (C), Aryansh Sharma (WK), Vriitya Aravind, Ethan D'souza, Basil Hameed, Ali Naseer, Aayan Khan, Sanchit Sharma, Karthik Meiyappan, Junaid Siddique, Muhammad Jawadullah.

Ireland (Playing XI) - Paul Stirling, Andy McBrine, Andy Balbirnie (C), Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker (WK), Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Gareth Delany, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy, Joshua Little.

TOSS - The captains are out in the middle. The coin is flipped into the air and lands in favor of the United Arab Emirates. They have elected to BOWL first.

UAE have also had a horrific time in Zimbabwe as they failed to impress and have looked like the weakest side in the tournament by far. The Asian side came into the tournament with a lot of positive momentum and batters in form but they have let down the team when it mattered the most. The failure of skipper Muhammad Waseem and keeper Vriitya Aravind with the bat has halted the run flow as they have been heavily relied on. Bowlers tried their bit but failed to impose themselves on opponents. UAE would be eager to inflict an upset against a Test-playing nation and it is to be seen which side can sign off with a victory under their belt. Stay tuned for toss and team updates.

Ireland have had a horrible time here in Zimbabwe losing all three games played so far. The Irish side started the campaign with a shocker against Oman and never bounced back losing the following games as well. The woes of the top order have been haunting them for a while now and the out-of-form skipper is a big concern for the side. A lot was expected of the middle muddle that have delivered up to some extent but the bowlers have failed miserably as well. The Irish would be looking to sign off with a victory and take some confidence back home. The batters and the bowlers need to back each other in the final encounter.

Hello, and a warm welcome, ladies and gentlemen to our coverage of match number 20 in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. We have a Group B tie in store for us where Ireland face off against UAE in a dead rubber as both these teams have been sent packing having lost all the games they have played so far. They have been knocked out in the group stage itself and will be missing out on ICC Cricket World Cup later this year in India. Bulawayo will host this final game of the group stages and both sides will want to play for pride.

... MATCH DAY ...

The Group stages of the ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2023 are nearing their end as Ireland cross swords against United Arab Emirates at the Bulawayo Athletic Club. This is the last game for both of them with no chance of qualification for the Super Six. Expections were high on Ireland but they haven't played to their potential at all. They should have won the match against Scotland but were not up to the mark against Oman and Sri Lanka. Their skipper, Andy Balbirnie will hope that his boys show up in this game and at least get a consolation win. Their batting department relies on the likes of Paul Stirling, Lorcan Tucker, Harry Tector and the skipper himself while they have two decent all-rounders in Curtis Campher and George Dockrell. They also have a great pace duo in Mark Adair and Joshua Little but all of their players would be disappointed with their performance and would want to play for pride in this match. United Arab Emirates, on the other hand, have also lost their three games but this will only help them get the experience they could use in the future. Vriitya Aravind has been their best batter in the tournament as Rohan Mustafa and Muhammad Waseem haven't been able to get going which has hurt them a lot. Aayan Khan has also contributed decently in both departments while Basil Hameed looks in good touch. Their bowling, though, has been good with Zahoor Khan and Junaid Siddique being their frontline pacers who gives them early breakthroughs while Karthik Meiyappan has been their best spinner. However, they still need to improve a lot in this format to be able to compete against the likes of Ireland and other teams in this tournament. Let's find out together who ends their campaign with a victory.
