A brilliant ton from Fakhar Zaman saw Pakistan chase down a competitive score quite easily! They have now taken a 1-0 lead with 4 more games to go. A win here will make it very difficult for the Kiwis to get back into the series. However, a victory for Pakistan will mean they are just another win away from sealing it. All to play for then in this crucial encounter. Will we see the Kiwis bounce back or will Pakistan make it two in a row?

It is now time for the second ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand. The hosts have a slight advantage coming into this game, as they have the winning momentum on their side. Although, you can never write off a New Zealand side, a young one or an experienced one, as the Kiwis never give up till the very last ball. They always give their opponents a run for their money whenever they are out of the field. This was seen in the T20I series before when New Zealand came from behind to draw the series. Pakistan chased down 289 quite comfortably in the first match, but they could've even restricted Kiwis to an even lower score if they had been a touch better on the field. Pakistan were really sloppy on the field and hardly backed their bowlers. Especially Shan Masood, who had a horror of a day, as he fumbled almost every single time the ball came towards him. Compounding his misery, he could not even redeem himself with the bat later. Looking at the bigger picture, Pakistan have a solid unit and experience filled in their squad, which could be seen in how they won the first game. Although, New Zealand will surely come out all guns blazing and would be determined to level the series, rather than ending up chasing another series in Pakistan. Will Young put his hands up with the blade early on and set the tone for the Kiwis, and Darly Mitchell impressed after being pushed up the order in the absence of Kane Williamson who usually bats at number 3. The pressure though could not get the better of Mitchell, as he milked almost every bowler, ran hard between the wickets throughout his innings, and got rewarded with a ton. New Zealand though need their middle-order batters to step up as they could not capitalise on the solid platform in the death overs. Also, their new-ball bowlers need to try and strike early to hurt the opposition. So, will the hosts be able to extend their lead? Or will New Zealand level things up? We shall find out together.
