Mahipal Lomror tries to cut too close from the body and ends up getting an inside edge back onto the stumps. Cummins gets his third wicket and Bengaluru lose their sixth. OUT! LBW! A confident appeal for LBW and this time the Umpire raises his finger! And it's the Hyderabad skipper with another breakthrough. This is darted with absolute precision at 148 clicks on the line of the stumps, tailing in from the middle, just ahead of the boots of the batter. Saurav Chauhan looks to whip it to the leg side but misses and it hits his pads. A huge appeal and the Umpire doesn't flinch a bit to raise his finger. Saurav Chauhan doesn't review it as it is clearly right in front of the stumps. Hyderabad are on a roll here as Bengaluru lose half of their side now, falling like a pack of cards.

Pat Cummins outsmarts Faf du Plessis by bowling a deceptive slower one on the top of the stumps, closer to the body, Faf du Plessis waits for an eternity to play at it and weirdly pokes at it on the pull shot. It brushes off his gloves taking the faintest of feather touch and Heinrich Klaasen does the rest behind the wickets with a regulation grab.

FOUR! Faf continues on his merry way. Over the wicket, back of a length, Faf du Plessis is cramped for room but bends low and manages to pull it down to backward square leg for a boundary.

FOUR! In style! Right underneath the bat on the stumps, Virat Kohli simply clears his front leg and slams it over the bowler's head for another cracking boundary to end the mandatory Powerplay. Bengaluru has perfectly used the fielding restrictions as they have managed to fetch 79 runs without losing a single wicket. Also, this is the highest powerplay score for Bengaluru.

Vijaykumar Vyshak bangs this one into the pitch and this time Abdul Samad gets hurried on and miscues the pull high over mid-wicket. Saurav Chauhan comes running in from the deep and spills a simple chance and the batters even get a couple of runs. Hydebarad finish with 287/3 on the board!

WIDE! Slower one, bowled into the pitch and well wide of off stump, this one grips and moves away and Abdul Samad fails to reach it. Wide called and again it is reviewed. The replays show that the batter was slightly outside off but still it was just a bit too wide to reach.

SIX! Normalcy resumes after one dot ball. Short of a length and around off stump, Abdul Samad gets inside the line and pummels the pull towards deep mid-wicket where the fielder makes a fine leaping effort but the ball just goes off the left hand and over the ropes. It was a near-impossible catching chance.

The 2024 Indian T20 League moves into a new week of cricketing action and we are almost halfway through the group stage. The new week kicks off with a clash between Bengaluru and Hyderabad at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Hosts Bengaluru have had a forgetful campaign thus far and are running out of time to make a comeback and get into the mix for those crucial playoff places. With just 1 win from 6 matches, Faf du Plessis and his men are languishing at the bottom of the table and no individual other than Virat Kohli has shown consistency. The star batting has been topping the scoring charts but was dismissed early on in their most recent loss to Mumbai and will be hungry to get back amongst the runs. Faf on the other hand did play a good knock and Dinesh Karthik was sensational in the previous and really it has been the uncharacteristically poor form of Glenn Maxwell that has been the thorn in their batting and also the third overseas batter hasn't proved to be fruitful either. Will Jacks was given a chance in the previous game and we might see him given a longer run in place of Cameron Green but he needs to deliver. On the bowling front, things have gone downhill from the last season and they have had a history of being light on quality bowling which has cost them some big matches. Reece Topley has been decent but Mohammed Siraj hasn't been able to deliver in the Powerplay in the way he has been in the last couple of seasons and the rest of the bowling lineup has been chopped and changed multiple times already which is never a good sign. Talking about Hyderabad, they come into this contest on the back of a nerve-wracking win against Punjab in which they almost lost a match that they should have won a lot much easier. Their top order does hold the key for them with the bat with the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Aiden Markram all already contributing to victories and then there's the threat of Heinrich Klaasen in the middle phase. The duo of Shahbaz Ahmed and Abdul Samad has also made vital contributions but the addition of Nitish Kumar Reddy has given them that edge with a proper all-rounder who can bat and bowl quick as well. The pace attack has been up and down but Pat Cummins, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan have all shown signs of greatness but Mayank Markande who was brilliant for them last season hasn't been able to replicate the same this season and they need him to step up as he is their lead spinner. Hyderabad have 3 wins from 5 games and are in a dog fight in the middle of the table and would want to get that fourth win in order to give themselves some breathing room going ahead. Can Bengaluru turn their fortunes around and maybe spark a comeback with a win? Or will Hyderabad pile on the misery on their opponents? We shall find out.
