However, the tide turned quickly after Babar Azam’s dismissal. He fell for 50 and his wicket marked a turning point as Pakistan crumbled from 153/3 to 176/6 in no time. Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha couldn’t contribute much, both throwing away their wickets to poor shots. Rizwan edged a harmless delivery down the leg side, while Agha chased a wide ball outside off stump. Aamer Jamal had a good partnership with Saud Shakeel but fell just before Tea, making only 18. Naseem Shah also couldn’t do much here as he got out for a duck.

UPDATE - The revised session timings for Day 3 are in now. We will have the second session from 11.40 am GMT to 2 pm GMT. The final session will start at 2.20 pm GMT and go on till 4 pm GMT. Play can also be extended by half an hour if needed. However, all this will obviously depend on how the weather holds up and light could play a factor too, as it did on Day 2.

UPDATE - 11.08 am GMT - We have a start time, folks! The official word is that will get underway at 11.40 am GMT barring further rain. Also, a total of 60 overs can be bowled in the day. We are getting closer to getting some cricket here at SuperSport Park. Stay tuned.

UPDATE - 10.49 am GMT - Lunch is officially over! Even though the rain has stopped, it will take some time to mop up the outfield. One of the on-field umpires is out in the middle to have a look at the ground. Super Sopper is working to dry the outfield while the overhead conditions seem to be a bit brighter than before. Let's just hope the rain stays away now.

UPDATE - 10.35 am GMT - Coming back to this game, the news from the ground is that the rain has stopped. However, it is pretty dark out there and with more rain forecasted, all we can do is hope that the weather clears up quickly and we get some cricket.

New Zealand have won the 1st T20I by 8 runs. A stunning comeback from the bowlers with Duffy's spell while Matt Henry and Zakary Foulkes shared four wickets equally to help them take the lead in the series. Pathum Nissanka's 90 off 60 balls went in vain as except for the two openers, no Lankan batter could even cross 10 runs as they ended up with as many as 8 single digit scores. Extraordinary stuff! Earlier in the game, the Kiwis were also struggling at 65/5, but a sensational 105-run partnership between Daryl Mitchell (62 off 42) and Michael Bracewell (59 off 33) pushed them towards a competitive total which ultimately proved to be a match-winning one.

While we wait here, let us see what is happening elsewhere. The 1st T20I between New Zealand and Sri Lanka at the Bay Oval is turning out to be a nail-biter. While chasing 173, the Lankan openers got to a flying start getting to 121/0 in 13.2 overs. However, a superb spell from Jacob Duffy (4-0-21-3) got the Kiwis back in the game. UPDATE - 9.47 am GMT-  Oh..no! Scratch the previous update as it has started to pour down again in Centurion. The umpires have also decided that Lunch will be taken at 10 am GMT which is obviously the scheduled time anyway. We can be hopeful that the weather improves during this break. Fingers crossed!

UPDATE - 9.38 am GMT - More good news! The rain has now stopped fully and the umpires are out in the middle inspecting the outfield. The Super Soppers are also being deployed and suddenly things are looking brighter. However, there is chances of rain in the afternoon, so the umpires might take an early Lunch and start play before the showers come again.

UPDATE - 9.30 am GMT - The latest word from the ground is that the rain has gotten lighter but it is unlikely we will get any play before Lunch. The drainage system in SuperSport Park is excellent but the rain needs stop completely for the groundstaff to take further action. Stick with us for more news.

Well, Day 3 should have started by now but it is raining currently in Centurion. The start of the 'Moving Day' has been officially delayed.

As we witnessed on both days, there were predictions of thunderstorms, but we haven't seen any yet, therefore, the weather conditions are likely to remain dry, offering enough assistance for the bowlers to extract bounce, swing, and turn. The day promises to be a battle of mental and physical strength, where every run will count, and the team that can maintain its composure under pressure will emerge on top. With plenty of cricket left to play, the result of this Test remains wide open.

The morning session promises to be crucial, as Pakistan’s middle order must handle the pressure of an already difficult task to get past the trail and to put up a mammoth target on the board. With Babar Azam at the crease and Rizwan yet to bst, Pakistan’s hopes rest on them to anchor the innings and build partnerships with the remaining batters. South Africa's bowlers, on the other hand will be looking to pick up quick wickets and reduce Pakistan to an even more precarious position. The pitch at Centurion, known for assisting both pace and spin, will be key in determining how the match unfolds. As the conditions change throughout the day, both teams will have to adapt swiftly.

The Pakistani openers came out with intent in their second outing, quickly cutting down the deficit with confident strokes. But Kagiso Rabada produced a gem to dismiss Saim Ayub, followed by Shan Masood falling to Jansen after another promising start. Babar Azam endured a nervy phase, surviving a few close calls, while Marco Jansen struck to remove Kamran Ghulam, turning up the heat on the visitors. Yet, Saud Shakeel and Babar steadied the ship with grit and determination, bringing the trail down to just 2 runs before bad light intervened.

Pakistan began the second session brightly, with Naseem Shah striking early to dismiss Kyle Verreynne and Marco Jansen. However, they failed to maintain the pressure as South Africa turned the tables. Aiden Markram fell agonizingly short of a century, dismissed for 89 by Khurram Shahzad at a critical juncture. Yet, Corbin Bosch stole the show, playing a sensational unbeaten knock of 81 and rallying the tail to extend South Africa’s lead to a commanding 90 runs. Pakistan missed a golden opportunity to limit the damage, leaving the hosts firmly in control of the match.

South Africa dominated the morning session, heading into Lunch at a commanding 180/5, trailing by just 31 runs. Aiden Markram was the star, crafting a composed fifty and standing tall against Pakistan’s inconsistent bowling. He shared a crucial 70-run stand with Temba Bavuma before Aamer Jamal struck to dismiss the skipper for 31. David Bedingham added a brisk 30 off 33 balls, but his dismissal just before Lunch frustrated the hosts. Pakistan’s bowlers lacked the spark of Day 1, with Khurram Shahzad notably underused, possibly due to a niggle. Markram, unbeaten and in sublime touch, saw the rest of the session out along with Kyle Verreynne.

Despite not getting full overs on both days, this game has moved at a rapid pace. South Africa have a slight advantage going into the 'Moving Day' where their bowlers will hope to turn the game completely in their favour. Pakistan, on the other hand, will need to bat extremely well to turn the 2-run deficit into a significant target for the hosts.

It looks like they are not satisfied that there is sufficient light for the play to continue here. The players are making their way out of the ground and it is a bit disappointing to once again lose overs and time on this Test.
