Rekha Arya - Someshwar উত্তরাখণ্ড বিধানসভা আসন 2022
BJP | Someshwar Won
Rekha Arya is the state minister for women's welfare and child development, animal husbandry, sheep and goat rearing, fodder and pastoral development, and fishery development in the Uttarakhand government. She won the Someshwar seat in 2017 with a thin margin of 710 votes against Congress candidate Rajendra Barakoti. She is one of the few politicians who has served in both the BJP and the Congress for a long period and has jumped parties periodically. When she was denied a ticket for the Assembly elections in Someshwar in 2012, she left the Congress and joined the BJP a year later with the hope to get a Lok Sabha ticket from Almora, but it didn't materialise. Then, in 2014, she left the BJP and returned to the Congress and went ahead winning by-elections in Someshwar to become a first-time MLA. In 2016, she re-entered the BJP after allegedly voting against Harish Rawat when he sought a vote of confidence. She is again contesting from the Someshwar constituency.
