Right then, as the conclusion of the 3rd Test between Australia and Pakistan, all eyes will once again be on David Warner and the narrative around his farewell. Pakistan, in the past two Test matches, have had opportunities to take the bull by the horns but it looks 'The Bull' on the other side is going to bring about their demise in this game. They didn't have the lead they would have liked but Sajid Khan provided them with a big breakthrough in the very first over after which they couldn't pile on the pressure and were instead put under pressure by the Aussie batters. The decision not to bring on their leading wicket-taker Aamer Jamal early in the innings proved costly and Jamal didn't bowl a single delivery in this innings which other than a case of injury seems absolutely bonkers. They have their backs firmly against the wall and all they can do now is delay proceedings a bit.

Wow, now that is how you write your own script and David Warner seems to be leaving the Test stage just as he joined it - with flair. Time for Lunch on Day 4 and it will in all certainty be the last break in play in this Test match and of the series as well. After Pakistan were bundled out for 115 runs, the pair of David Warner and Usman Khawaja walked out to bat to resounding applause from the SCG crowd but Sajid Khan bowled a lovely first over that ended with the wicket of Khawaja. This might have got on the nerves of Warner but instead, he soon started to counter-attack. Marnus Labuschagne too came in and looked positive and the pair simply blew away the opposition with their positive and at times, cheeky stroke play. Warner brought up a 37th Test Fifty and Australia now only need 39 more runs for the win.

Australia weren't at their finest with the bat as they couldn't score at a positive rate for most of their innings but were outstanding with the ball late in Day 3. Josh Hazlewood was the chief orchestrator as he picked up 4 wickets, including 3 in the very same over. They have Pakistan by the scruff of the neck and would want to finish things off quickly here. On the other hand, it was the same old story for Pakistan as everytime they looked to be ahead in the game, they simply couldn't press home the advantage and now find themselves on the verge of another defeat. Can Mohammad Rizwan and Aamer Jamal conjure up something special and turn the game on its head? We shall find out as cricketing action isn't far away now.

Hello and welcome to Day 4 of the 3rd and final Test match between Australia and Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground where the visitors are on the verge of being clean swept as they lead by 82 runs and have just 3 wickets in hand. It could all be over in a couple of hours but Mohammad Rizwan and Aamer Jamal might have something to say about that.

... DAY 4, SESSION 1...

Right then, Pakistan have a decent lead of 82 runs and if they had more wickets in hand, they would be looking to stretch it to around the 200-run mark which would certainly be defendable given the current nature of the track but they are 7 down and will have to bat out of their skins to get to even a 150-run lead. Australia on the other hand will look to not repeat their mistakes from the first innings and uproot the tail at the earliest. A decisive Day 4 will begin on Saturday at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT) which is again 30 minutes earlier than scheduled. But you can join us sooner for the build-up. Cheers!

The man of the moment, Josh Hazlewood is down for a chat. He starts off by talking about his final over and says that a leg-side field and bowling on off created those chances, especially off the rough. He further says that a wobble seam is a good option typically in the second innings here at MCG. He explains that after the collapse with the bat they were looking to attack with the ball and Starc started off perfectly for them. He further says that batting was the easiest only on Day 1 after the ball got soft. He talks about the pitch and says it has become a bit patchy but is still decent. He then talks about Pat Cummins's captaincy to bring in Travis Head was a good call considering the number of wickets of right-handers he has claimed. He concludes by saying that the key wickets of Rizwan and Ameer Jamal will be crucial and they hope to end well.

Pakistan must have thought after that burst from Aamer Jamal that they have the slight advantage and could build on the slender first-innings lead. This wasn't the case though as Mitchell Starc sent Abdullah Shafique back on a pair and then skipper Shan Masood was caught fishing outside the off stump by Josh Hazlewood. Then came the counter-attack from debutant Saim Ayub who took on the pacers and Babar Azam accompanied him well. The spinners seemed to be in the game and although it took some time, Nathan Lyon got into his groove and got the big wicket of Ayub. Travis Head then sent Babar Azam packing almost instantly. The move to then bring on Josh Hazlewood with 10 minutes or so remaining proved to be decisive as he picked up three wickets in one over and ripped apart Pakistan. The two top-scorers from the first innings, Mohammad Rizwan and Aamer Jamal are on the crease but will face an uphill task when they come out to bat on Day 4.

Wow, wow and wow! What a final session we have had on Day 3! The game seemed to be stretching just before Tea with a partnership brewing between Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey but the latter just fell on the stroke of Tea. No one knew how big of a turning point that was as after Tea, Australia lost 4 wickets for just 10 runs and then Pakistan went on to lose 7 wickets with 5 of them falling quite late in the day. Day 3 is generally known as the moving day in Test cricket and that has held true as after just half a day's play possible on Day 2, the game has moved along at a brisk pace and even though the scoring rate might have been on the slower side, we have got a fine picture of the rest of the game. Australia completely in command and Pakistan are only ahead by 82 runs with 3 wickets remaining.

David Warner is stationed at the second slip and takes an absolute sitter. This is crazy stuff from Hoff. Australia lose their 7th wicket and Hazlewood gets his fourth. Pakistan would be dejected with this poor display of batting.

OUT! BOWLED'EM! The nightwatchman ploy fails for Pakistan and Hazlewood gets his third. Bowls on a back of a length this time around the off-stump line, Sajid Khan roots to his crease and goes to defend it but gets beaten all ends up on that one. The ball strikes the top of the off stump after brushing the pad. Pakistan are in a deep, deep trouble here.

OUT! CAUGHT! Hazlewood strikes again and what a bowling change from the skipper. Hurls from around the wicket and pitches it wide outside off on a fuller length, Saud Shakeel goes for an expansive and needless drive and the ball catches the outside edge of the blade and the ball flies straight to the second slip where Steven Smith is stationed. He takes an easy grab. That was a poor shot from Shakeel as he lost his shape completely. Pakistan lose half of their side just at the brink of the end of the day.

Shafique leaves a big gap between bat and pad as he looks to block it off the front foot and the ball goes through the gap to knocks over the stumps. Shafique picks up a pair and Australia have a wicket in the first over yet again as Starc begins with a wicket-maiden.

The ball goes quickly to third slip where Agha Salman takes a sharp catch right around his face and Jamal ends up with 6 wickets to his name and makes it 18 wickets in his debut Test series as well. The ball goes off the outside edge and down towards gully where Saud Shakeel leans forward and misses the ball. The ball goes through the hands and onto the boot before Shakeel manages to hang on. Australia going down in a hurry here.

Is that a fair catch? The Pakistani players think so but Nathan Lyon isn't going anywhere. The umpires have a chat and go upstairs. The third umpire checks it from a couple of different angles and we can see that the ball went through the hands of the fielder and onto the boot before the fielder gobbled it up once again. The ball doesn't hit the ground and the decision on the big screen is OUT!

... DAY 3, SESSION 3 ...

Pakistan will be rueing missed opportunities, particularly the dropped catch by Saim Ayub that let Mitchell Marsh off the hook. The pacers, especially with the second new ball, failed to maintain the right lines and lengths, allowing the set batters to score freely. They would be happy with the wicket of Alex Carrey just before the end of the Session and will look to turn the tides come the next passage of play. This serves as a crucial juncture for Pakistan to regroup and approach the next session with a bit more intent, aiming to put a lid on Australia's scoring. The balance of the game teeters on a knife's edge, with Australia holding a slight advantage. Can Pakistan restrict Australia from building a substantial lead, or will a new partnership flourish, pushing Australia further ahead? As Tea is called on Day 3 of the Test match, Australia has inched closer to the target, trailing just by 24 more runs and have lost a couple of more wickets in the process. Their calculated approach has positioned them slightly ahead in the game, setting the stage for an intriguing continuation post-Tea. Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh adopted a cautious start, negotiating the overs diligently. However, Head's dismissal, with the Umpire's call not in his favour, brought a temporary setback. The partnership between Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey proved pivotal as they steadied the ship, launching an offensive attack once the new ball was introduced. Mitchell Marsh has reached his 50 and looks set to get a big score. Mir Hamza and Hasan Ali began the proceedings for the visitors and they bowled decently with uneven bounce on offer. Pakistan lost the hold a bit on the screws as Sajid Khan was expensive in his first couple of overs. Aamer Jamal ployed a barrage of short-pitch bouncers but he was all over the place but he did get rid of Steven Smith right before half an hour or so before Lunch and provided a much-needed breakthrough for them. Agha Salman, who looked in rhythm from the first delivery, exploited the conditions pretty well and dismissed Labuschagne on a vicious turn. Pakistan crept back well into the contest and would be the happier side after having a couple of quick wickets of well-settled batters right before the break.

SESSION SUMMARY - 33 overs, 83 runs and 2 wickets. The players head for Lunch on Day 3 after an early start of play to cover up the overs lost thanks to the rain which interrupted the proceedings on Day 2. The pitch got a bit slower with no hint of movement up front. Australia started off pretty alertly with Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne in the first half an hour or so. Following the bowling change, they charged when the spin was introduced and steered the innings steadily after that. Steven Smith departed on 38 and their 81-run stand came to an end after a long run. The situation got a bit more precarious as Marnus Labuschagne departed in the very next over against Salman. Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head are the two out in the middle for the hosts and have their work cut out in the next session.
