That is all from this game. Australia wrap the series comfortably. Time for the final ODI, join us on the 6th of this month at 9 am (3.30 am GMT) and earlier for the build-up. For now, it is goodbye!

Steven Smith says the Windies bowled well on a tricky surface but the lower-batting order did well to get some partnerships and get to a par total. Adds Jake Fraser-McGurk enjoyed himself on top, the other players too played well. Reckons they are looking forward to the next game.

Shai Hope says the bowlers did well and gave a good chance to win the match. Adds it was a challenging wicket to play, The Aussies did a commendable job with the ball, they didn't bat freely and could have done a lot better.

Sean Abbott, the Player of the Match for his all-round performance. He says he found himself in a difficult situation but he knew 220 was a good total and just needed one partnership. Adds it is a really good group to be around and the environment is superb as well. Reckons he keeps working hard and waits for the opportunity and says, it is an absolute pleasure to play for Australia.

...Presentation time...

In reply, we felt West Indies would take the game deep but they kept losing wickets. Steven Smith shuffled his seamers and all of them took a wicket at least. The middle order did come to the rescue. Shai Hope, Keacy Carty and Roston Chase, all got off to a start but failed to convert into a big one. Chase was the last known batter out there but kept on losing wickets and in the end, it got too big of a mission for him. We feel, West Indies could have done better when Australia were 91//5 but allowed the lower-order to run away with the game. West Indies lacked match experience against a quality Aussie side.

Australia win the first ODI battle after becoming the world champions. Despite missing so many first-team players, they looked pretty comfortable in both matches. West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl. They did well up front as they took three wickets inside 50 runs. Australia needed a big partnership but kept on losing wickets regularly. The stand did come though later on as Aaron Hardie, Sean Abbott and Matthew Short played valuable innings to get Australia to a moderate total. Sean Abbott's fifty turned out to be a match-winning one in the end.

Commentary

We are back. The players are out in the middle. Alick Athanaze and Justin Greaves to open for the Windies. Josh Hazlewood to bowl first. Let's go...

...THE CHASE...

Australia on the other hand, will be disappointed with the wickets they gave. A few of them just gifted it to the visitors. Some of them threw away the starts they got off to. At one time, they were 7 down for around 170 but Will Sutherland and Sean Abbott layed really well to take them out of trouble. Sean Abbott was the star with the bat and he has taken his side to a competitive total. Australia have a bowling attack which they will back to defend this. Can they do so? We will find out.

A good recovery then from the Aussies and we feel they have got a score which is around par on this slow wicket. They though were in trouble for most parts of this innings. They lost their top order quickly courtesy some excellent bowling by Alzarri Joseph and Matthew Forde! Gudakesh Motie then followed up the good work. He put up a good show with the ball too. They though will be disappointed with Oshane Thomas and Romario Shepherd! Both went for 83 runs in the 12 overs they bowled and that is too much on this wicket. Had they bowled better, Australia would have probably ended with 220. Still though, this is a score Windies will fancy but they will need to bat well.

Outside off, Sean Abbott looks to drag it on the leg side. He gets an inside edge and it goes onto hit the stumps. Romario Shepherd likes it. Also, this could now well make a difference of at least 10 runs to the final score.

48.26

SIX! 12 from the first two balls. That is another big one. This though was all power. A slower one on middle, Sean Abbott gets down on one knee and he powers it over the long on fence. Top shot.

48.41

A single now! A yorker outside off, this is jammed out towards cover for one.

48.3W

OUT! TIMBER! Romario Shepherd has his revenge. Sean Abbott falls but after playing a brilliant knock. He walks off to a standing ovation and rightly so. Shorter and slower.

Top shot.

48.16

SIX! Into the stands! That is a gift for someone who is batting so well. A full toss on middle, he heaves it over the mid-wicket fence. A biggie to start the over. This could be a big one.

It is time for the second ODI between Australia and the West Indies. The first one ended how we all expected to, a comfortable win for the Aussies and we expect something similar from the hosts in the second ODI too. One thing though we have learnt after watching the Test series is that one can never write the Windies out. They won when they had to and it is the same scenario here. A win will see them stay alive in the series but a loss will see Australia clinch it with a game to. Can the rise to the occasion? We will find out.

... MATCH DAY ...

The Sydney Cricket Ground is alive with anticipation as it braces for the electrifying clash between Australia and West Indies in the 2nd ODI. The first match saw Australia dominating the proceedings, cruising to victory with 8 wickets and a substantial 11.3 overs to spare. Despite a shaky start, West Indies managed to post a respectable 231 on the board, propelled by Keacy Carty's resilient 88 and Roston Chase's gritty 59, supported by some crucial contributions from the lower order. However, they fell short of their full quota of overs, leaving room for improvement. Australia, on the other hand, recovered swiftly from the early setback of losing Travis Head cheaply. Josh Inglis and Cameron Green steadied the ship with a formidable 79-run partnership, with Inglis contributing a crucial 65 and Green a solid 77. Steven Smith then took charge, unleashing a blistering run-a-ball 79, steering Australia to a comfortable victory alongside a mammoth 149-run stand. The Aussie bowlers exhibited finesse and discipline, with Xavier Bartlett shining bright with his miserly spell, conceding a mere 19 runs while claiming a fantastic 4 wickets. Supported by Sean Abbott and Cameron Green, who both secured two scalps each, the Australian attack looked formidable. As the stage is set for the second ODI, Australia holds the upper hand in head-to-head encounters against the West Indies, especially at this historic venue where they have enjoyed significant success. With an average first innings score of 255, the pitch promises a fair contest with pacers poised to play a pivotal role. The Windies, armed with the likes of Oshane Thomas, Romario Shepherd, and Matthew Forde, are determined to bounce back with an improved and stronger bowling performance. Australia, boasting players in fine form across both batting and bowling departments, enters the contest as the probable favorite. Will the Windies rise to the occasion and level the series, breaking free from the shackles of their earlier defeat? Or will the hosts continue their dominance and clinch the series? Whose side are you on?
