Rajasthan Royals beat Delhi Capitals by 15 runs

Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Right then. That’s it from the coverage of this game. The Indian T20 League action continues on 23rd April, where we have a double header coming up. The first game sees Gujarat take on Kolkata at 3.30 pm IST (10 am GMT) and later Bangalore will face Hyderabad at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). But as you all know, you can join us early for the build-up. Till then take care and goodbye!

Jos Buttler is the Player of the Match. He says it was a really special knock, a special stadium as his first season was with Mumbai. He hopes his form continues as it is crucial to have the momentum, they need to soak the pressure early on and then the confidence will build. Tells that Devdutt Padikkal batted brilliantly as well from the other end. Informs there was no dew, the wickets may change and everyone will need to adapt as the tournament goes on.

Sanju Samson the skipper of Rajasthan says that it was a full toss ball and the batter hit a six, but the opposition wanted a no ball, but the umpire made his decision very clear. Mentions that they wanted to put a smile on Obed McCoy's face, it's never easy to be hit for three sixes and come back stronger in the other three balls. Adds that when there is someone like Rovman Powell at the other end, they just had to remain calm, and trust their teammates. States that at some point in the tournament they would like to chase as well, but it's okay to lose the toss for now. Adds that there was not much dew, but our spinners are bowling exceptionally well. On Yuzvendra Chahal's drop catch, he says that it's okay to drop a catch, these things happen, but the main thing is to overcome those things and remain calm and that's what Yuzi did. He bowled a very good over after that as well. On Devdutt Padikkal's knock, he says that it was a crucial knock and even the 20s and 30s which he has made have been crucial as well.

Stay tuned for the presentation...

Ravichandran Ashwin is down for a chat! He says that Devdutt Padikkal was standing nearby and asked that it is not happening right? Tells that the coach came and changed the momentum for them. Adds that the ground is small and so they can't really say what was a good score. Says understanding the game is really crucial and in Chahal, they have a good understanding and hopes it continues the same. On dew, he says there was not much and hopes it remains the same for future games.

Rishabh Pant the skipper of Delhi, says that they were bowling well but Powell batted well and gave them a chance, they wanted to review the no ball and he says, the third umpire should have interfered in between to check the delivery. He says it was not good to send someone on the ground but it was a no ball and was shown on the big screen, he cannot change the rules of the game. Tells that they should have bowled a little better and they will now focus on the next game.

Consecutive wins for Rajasthan! They have yet again defended a healthy total. They did leak runs throughout the innings but made sure to grab wickets at regular intervals. Ravichandran Ashwin was excellent, he picked up two vital wickets. But Prasidh Krishna was the leader of the pack, he grabbed 3 wickets in his spell. Not to forget, he bowled a wicket-maiden in the 19th over and turned the tide towards them. That was probably the turning point. Obed McCoy was expensive, but he held his nerve once again and helped his side get over the line eventually. With this victory, Rajasthan move to the top of the table!

Delhi started the chase well with David Warner and Prithvi Shaw scoring runs freely. But David Warner perished within the Powerplay! Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw carried on to score runs but they too could not hold on and were dismissed when they tried to up the ante. Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell got the game right till the last over, but there were too many runs to get at the end. Delhi probably could have sent Rovman Powell earlier and things could have been different. Nevertheless, they fought well but fell short in the end.

Drama, and entertainment at its absolute best! We have witnessed yet another game going down the wire. But it's Rajasthan who held their nerve and have clinched the game here. Back-to-back wins for Rajasthan! Agony for Delhi though!

Now the target is a big one, the wicket is flat but Delhi have to bat really well against a strong bowling attack. They’ll need someone to match Buttler if they are to chase this down. Can they do so?

Devdutt Padikkal is down for a chat. He says Wankhede has a good wicket to bat on and they just needed to get into the rhythm. Adds that they knew the bowlers they needed to target and feel happy to get back along with the runs. Feels 180-190 as a decent total and feels like a defendable total. Jokes and says he even asked Buttler, is it that easy to bat.

The Delhi bowlers, after a brilliant outing in the last game, have been taken to the cleaners in this one. All their bowlers had no answers to the carnage from the Rajasthan batters. However, not sure why Thakur wasn’t given his full quota. He bowled two good overs but ended up bowling only 3. Overall though, Delhi were not only poor with the ball but also on the field. They do have a fiery batting line-up and are well and truly capable of chasing this down.

After being inserted to bat, both the openers played the initial period really well when the ball was moving around. Once they got their eye in, they were toying with the bowlers. It was raining boundaries. The two added a 150-plus run stand. Devdutt Padikkal fell but Buttler continued and got up yet another ton. Samson too continued the good work from the openers and played a brilliant cameo. Rajasthan will be very pleased with the total they have.

How good is that man? How good is Jos Buttler? What a season he is having, back-to-back tons and he is the reason yet again as to why Rajasthan have ended with a mammoth total. The highest total in this edition so far!

We are all set for the action. The players are out in the middle. Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal are the openers for Rajasthan. Khaleel Ahmed to start with the ball. Here we go...

Prithvi Shaw is down for a chat. He says everything is fine right now apart from Ponting who is in the hotel room but he will coordinate from there and they will rather focus on the game. Adds that he is the boss of the team but they have enough seniors here and it is a pleasure working under them.

Sanju Samson, the skipper of Rajasthan, says that he does not mind batting, toss is something that is not in his control, and it is going out of his control. Mentions that they have experience in doing both first and they need to be prepared. States that they have done well and will want to carry the momentum and it's important to focus on the current game. Informs that they are playing with the same team.

Rishabh Pant, the skipper of Delhi, says that they will bowl first as these conditions will help fast bowlers. Adds that he just tells the boys not to focus on the outside world. Tells that they try to improve and get the results and informs they are playing the same team. Mentions anything near 150-160 is good.

Rajasthan Royals (Unchanged Playing XI) - Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson (C/WK), Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Karun Nair, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Obed McCoy, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal.

Delhi Capitals (Unchanged Playing XI) - Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Rishabh Pant (C/WK), Rovman Powell, Sarfaraz Khan, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, Khaleel Ahmed.

TOSS - Delhi have won the toss and they have elected to BOWL first.

PITCH REPORT - Graeme Swann is down near the pitch. He says it's an absolute belter, its rock hard. Adds that there is a bit of turn in this wicket, still a very good batting wicket and we can expect another high score today.

Delhi have been quite inconsistent so far in the tournament. However, their last win could be a huge morale booster but the question is can they build on this against Rajasthan who are a strong side? Rajasthan have performed quite consistently, their bowling attack is a real good one and we believe the battle between them and the Delhi batters could well decide the game. The Indian T20 League continues to excite us as we now head into game 34 and it is a clash between Rajasthan and Delhi. Just the two points separate the two but the latter are three places below the former. Both head into this game after a win. Delhi, after a convincing win whereas, Rajasthan had to fight hard in their victory. The two will want to continue the winning streak. A win for Delhi can see them move into the top 4 and a win for Rajasthan can take them to first place. Still, early days but the view from the top is always a good one.
