Commentary

Right then, that was an exciting match where Gujarat emerged victorious. However, the excitement in the Indian T20 League doesn't stop here for the day. Today being a Sunday is a double header and switch tabs to reach our coverage of the match between Chennai and Delhi which is taking place in Vizag. Until then, goodbye and cheers!

Mohit Sharma is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant bowling effort. He says that he keeps things very simple and it is important to use the variations at the right time. Adds that you have to think one step ahead of the batter. Tells that you have to bowl according to your field and play with the mind of the batter. Mentions that dew plays a factor but you have to practise for all conditions. Says that he is enjoying his game, and when things don't go well, he watches the video after the game to improve his skills. Ends by saying that Rashid Khan and the other bowlers pulled things back nicely at the death in the first innings of the match.

Shubman Gill, the victorious skipper of Gujarat says he is happy to win two matches at home and he is pleased with the way his bowlers are delivering in the middle overs. He also says that Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad were exceptional in their jobs. he further praises Mohit Sharma, who executed the slower bounces perfectly. He reckons that it was a bit easier to bat to the new ball than the old ball. He also says that David Miller finishes the job well and says that he was just suffering from cramps and it is not anything serious.

Pat Cummins, the captain of Hyderabad says that the opposition bowled really well to restrict them. He also says that they expected the ball to move under lights but that did not happen. He reckons that their batters have done some splendid job in the first couple of games but today was not their day. He ends up saying that they will come back stronger from this.

Presentation Time...

Sai Sudharsan, the top-scorer for Gujarat says that he is really happy to contribute to the win. He continues that it was a bit difficult to play the fast bowlers and so they decided to take the spinners. He also appreciated the contributions made by Rashid Khan and Mohit Sharma. He ends up saying that he had a wonderful time playing well in front of the home crowd and he wants to continue this performance further into the season.

Earlier in the innings, we saw a good bowling performance by Gujarat. They managed to restrict Hyderabad to a comparatively low score. Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad were the highest scorers for the Men in Orange. Mohit Sharma got timely wickets and ended with 3 in his bag. Noor Ahmad, Rashid Khan, Umesh Yadav, and Azmatullah Omarzai got one wicket each. While chasing, it was smooth sail for the home side.

Hyderabad were put under the gun from the start. Their bowlers were attacked until Shahbaz Ahmed gave the opening breakthrough. His spin partner, Mayank Markande followed up soon after with the wicket of the opposition skipper. They kept it quiet in the middle overs but that 24-run over from Markande completely shifted the momentum. Pat Cummins did manage to get the crucial breakthrough in the form of Sai Sudharsan and broke the partnership. However, it was too late and the home team cruised away to victory.

For Gujarat, the opening pair of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill powered their start to their best. They troubled the Hyderabadi bowlers in the initial phase. The former was dismissed inside the Powerplay, and then Gill steadied things with Sai Sudharsan for a bit. However, just after the first break, the skipper lost his wicket. Then Sudarshan and David Miller built another good partnership and got them closer to the target. Sai accelerated his attack but was dismissed soon after missing out on his half-century, but Miller stayed unbeaten till the end and hit winning runs as well.

A dominating victory for Gujarat! They keep winning at home and prove that they are very tough to defeat on their turf. Hyderabad unfortunately have to suffer a loss after their heroics in the last game. The hosts made this chase look like a cakewalk on a wicket that was a bit tricky.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! The two umpires make their way out to the middle followed by the Hyderabad players. Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill are the two openers for Gujarat. Bhuvneshwar Kumar to start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Gujarat, on the other hand, will be extremely pleased with their performance. They were a bit expensive in the Powerplay but Azmatullah Omarzai managed to pick up a wicket as well. The decision to play Noor Ahmad proved to be the correct decision as he removed Travis Head in his first over. Rashid Khan was taken apart by Abhishek Sharma in his first over but came back strongly got the huge wicket of Heinrich Klaasen that put the hosts in a strong position. Mohit Sharma was brilliant with his variations and was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets while Umesh Yadav chipped in with one. Darshan Nalkande was also good in the death overs. Now, it is up to their batters to do their job and get them over the line. Join us in a bit for the second essay.

Abdul Samad is up for a quick chat. He says that 162 is a decent total. He continues that the pitch is holding up a lot but he also has a firm belief that they will defend the target. He reckons that he was in good form and wanted to face more balls in the last over. He ends up saying that the skipper will decide who will start the bowling but expects Bhuvneshwar Kumar to do it.

Hyderabad managed to get to a good start even with Mayank Agarwal struggling for runs. He perished in the Powerplay but Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma made sure that get over 50 runs in that period. However, just after the first break, Head lost his wicket while Abhishek also went back after a quick-fire knock. Heinrich Klaasen came in and played a few lusty blows but couldn't hang around for long in this game and perished while Aiden Markram followed suit. After that, the partnership of 45 runs between Abdul Samad who got 29 off just 14, and Shahbaz Ahmed got them to a respectable total. The problem for them was that they failed to build partnerships in the middle overs and kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

A fine bowling effort from Gujarat! They have restricted a formidable Hyderabad side to 162 and will be the happier side going into the break. All the bowlers contributed equally but once again Mohit Sharma stood out for them. The batters for Hyderabad got to starts but just could not convert them as the wicket was also a tricky one and it will not be an easy run chase.

OUT! RUN OUT! Just a single to end the innings then! Mohit Sharma bowls another slower one, short once again. Pat Cummins pulls it towards deep backward square leg. Abdul Samad calls for the second but Pat Cummins sends him back a bit late and Samad fails to make his ground. Noor Ahmad is quick enough to get on the ball and throw it at the batter's end. Wriddhiman Saha collects and breaks the stumps. Hyderabad finishes on 162/8!

Back of a length and on middle, slower too, Abdul Samad pulls it towards deep square leg for one.

The ball loops towards the deep mid-wicket region and Rashid Khan was never going to miss that. Washington Sundar departs for a golden duck!

Washington Sundar walks out to bat now. He is the Impact Player for Hyderabad and replaces Mayank Agarwal.

19.2W

OUT! TAKEN! Mohit Sharma gets another added to his account! Mohit Sharma bowls fuller and just outside off. It was the back-of-the-hand slower one from the bowler. Shahbaz Ahmed gets decided by it and goes through his lofted shot early. The ball goes off the toe-end of the bat towards the long on fielder and it's an easy catch for Rahul Tewatia. Shahbaz Ahmed has to depart!

OUT! TAKEN! Mayank Markande strikes! Once again a break helps the fielding side get a breakthrough and this a big one for Hyderabad. This is tossed up, full and on middle and leg, Shubman Gill skips down the track to slog it away but fails to get fully underneath it, he hits it from the inside half of the bat as the ball goes flat and in the air wide of long on where Abdul Samad moves to his right and pouches it safely. Gill goes after getting to a start again!

Strategic break! Gujarat are pretty much into the game, holding a firm grip on the match. They lost a wicket just at the end of the Powerplay but Sai Sudharsan has done well to handle the situation. But it's all about how they capitalize on the situation. On the other hand, Hyderabad needs a couple of wickets if they want to stay in the game as this partnership might hurt them later in the game.

Hyderabad enters this match on a high note, fueled by their sensational record-breaking victory over Mumbai. Their explosive batting lineup, featuring the likes of Travis Head, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, and Abhishek Sharma , has been the talk of the town since their last outing. However, their batting prowess has somewhat overshadowed their bowling performance, which hasn't been up to par. Conceding over 200 runs in both previous games raises concerns, particularly regarding Bhuvi's form. The return of T Natarajan, if fit, could bolster their bowling attack, as he showed promise in the first game, alongside Jaydev Unadkat, who made a notable impact. While their spin department appears somewhat inexperienced, Hyderabad boasts significant depth on their bench, providing options to fine-tune their bowling combination. With momentum firmly on their side and skipper Pat Cummins already making a mark, Hyderabad aims to deliver another commanding performance. Stay tuned for toss updates and more exciting action ahead.

Gujarat kicked off their campaign with a solid victory against Mumbai, but stumbled in their last outing against Chennai. Their batting lineup has been inconsistent, placing pressure on skipper Shubman Gill to lead from the front. However, with ample talent at their disposal, Gujarat has the potential to bounce back strongly. On the bowling front, they boast one of the fiercest attacks in the competition even with the absence of Mohammed Shami. With the likes of Rashid Khan, the top T20 spinner, and Mohit Sharma delivering masterful performances in the death overs, Gujarat's bowling unit poses a formidable challenge for any opponent. With additional support from the rest of the team, Gujarat becomes a daunting prospect, especially when playing on their home turf.

Hello and a warm welcome folks! Brace yourselves for another exhilarating clash in the Indian T20 League 2024, as Gujarat prepares to take on record-breakers Hyderabad at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Get ready for a spectacle filled with fireworks and high-octane action!

... MATCH DAY ...

Match number 12 of the Indian T20 League is poised to ignite the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as Gujarat plays host to the resurgent force of Hyderabad, setting the stage for yet another electrifying chapter in this captivating edition of the League. As the curtains rise on this exhilarating clash, both teams step onto the field with contrasting narratives. The hosts, Gujarat, regroup after a hard-fought battle on away turf against the reigning champions, Chennai, hungry to reclaim lost ground. Meanwhile, Hyderabad strides into the contest buoyed by the euphoria of a record-breaking triumph over the formidable Mumbai, their spirits soaring high as they aim to sustain their momentum and etch another memorable victory. After a victorious start against Mumbai, Gujarat encountered a formidable Chennai side that showcased a complete team performance, proving to be a formidable force, resulting in a significant 63-run defeat. This setback undoubtedly nudged their net run rate a notch. The bowling contingent found the going tough, collectively caught off guard by Chennai's formidable batting lineup. Despite the challenges, spin maestro Rashid Khan managed to claim a couple of wickets, albeit amidst a relentless assault from the opposition. Facing a daunting target of 207 runs, Wriddhiman Saha led the charge with his aggressive approach, ably supported by a commendable batting display from Sai Sudharsan, who was entrusted as the impact player. However, the remainder of the batting lineup faltered against the sharp bowling of Chennai, ultimately falling short of the target. Gujarat, known for their resilience, will be poised to stage a resounding comeback in front of their home crowd, determined to reignite their campaign with renewed vigour. On the flip side, Hyderabad, under the dynamic leadership of their new skipper Pat Cummins, has ignited the season with a fresh wave of energy. Their batting arsenal has emerged as a formidable force, setting the tournament ablaze with their spectacular displays. Travis Head laid the foundation with a scintillating half-century off just 18 balls in the previous encounter against Mumbai, only to see his record eclipsed within 5 overs by Abhishek Sharma's blistering knock, off 16 balls. The marquee, Heinrich Klaasen, played a stellar unbeaten innings of 80 runs, ably supported by Aiden Markram's contribution of 42, propelling the team to a monumental total of 277 runs, shattering Bengaluru's longstanding record. Despite the high-scoring nature of the contest and the challenges posed by a demanding bowling track, Hyderabad's bowlers exhibited nerves of steel, consistently chipping away at wickets amidst the onslaught from the opposition. Pat Cummins led from the front, scalping 2 crucial wickets alongside Jaydev Unadkat, ensuring a commendable victory by restricting the formidable Mumbai batting lineup to 246 runs, triumphing by a margin of 31 runs. With Hyderabad showcasing their formidable form this season, the stage is set for an epic showdown at the world's largest cricket stadium. Who do you think will rise to the occasion and lead their side to glory in this highly anticipated clash? We shall soon find out.
