That's all from this game. It is the Netherlands who have registered a comprehensive victory. With this win, they have sealed a spot in the Super Six of the competition. On the other hand, Nepal have suffered their third straight defeat and now have nothing but pride to play for in the tournament. The 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers action continues on Sunday, the 25th of June as well with two games in store. It will be Sri Lanka taking on Ireland and Scotland will lock horns with Oman. Both games will begin at 12.30 pm IST (7.00 am GMT). As always you can join us early for the build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye!

Scott Edwards, the captain of the Netherlands, says that everybody is delighted with a victory. Adds that the team has achieved its first challenge and is looking towards the second huddle which would be Super Six. Adds that the bowlers have been amazing throughout and the batting of Max O'Dowd today was superb as it took the sting out of the run chase. Closes by saying that the team will continue to play a positive brand of cricket as it is working well for the side.

Rohit Paudel, the skipper of Nepal, says the team was a bit short with the total and the wicket was not that challenging. Adds that they could not adjust as per the conditions. Mentions that batters did get starts but failed to capitalize. Reckons that the team fell a lot short of what the team planned for. Adds that this defeat comes with a lot of learning lessons and what are the areas that need to be improved.

Max O'Dowd is the Player of the Match for his brilliant knock of 90 runs from 75 balls.  He says that he is obviously disappointed on missing out on a century but says that if it means the team wins then would love it every game. Adds that he just kept on playing the ball on it's merit and did not pre-meditate anything. Shares that he took a few sweeping lessons from Scott Edwards and that worked out well today.

Time for the presentations...

Earlier in the game, as has been the story of the competition, Scott Edwards had no hesitation in bowling first after winning the toss. His two quicks Logan van Beek and Ryan Klein had the Nepal batters on their toes right from ball one. The Dutch bowlers kept troubling the Nepal batters by bowling short and were rewarded with wickets at regular intervals. Spinners came to the party as well to pile more misery on Nepal. For the Asian side, the skipper Rohit Paudel fought hard but did not find support at the other end. Gulsan Jha and Sandeep Lamichhane did stand firm but once this partnership was broken, the tail was not able to wag. Logan van Beek was the star with the ball for the Netherlands with four wickets.

With not a huge total to defend, skipper Rohit Paudel started with spin in his quest for early breakthroughs. Moreover, he kept rotating his bowlers to not allow the Dutch openers to settle in. That said, the Nepal bowlers were unable to keep it tight and conceded boundaries here and there. Nepal did sense an opening after Sandeep Lamichhane's twin strikes but they were unable to keep the pressure on the Dutch batters. Towards the end, Gulsan Jha did manage to dismiss Max O'Dowd and deny him a hundred but it was nothing more than a consolation for the Asian side. Despite the loss, Sandeep Lamichhane was the positive for Nepal with figures of 2 for 60 from his ten overs.

The Netherlands are through to the Super Six of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers! They have done it in a canter here and have knocked Nepal out of contention! In their pursuit of 168 runs, the Dutch opening pair of Max O'Dowd and Vikramjit Singh got their side off to a solid start. The former was quick to get off the blocks while his partner took his time but started finding boundaries once he got his eye in. The openers accumulated 58 runs in the Powerplay and laid a solid foundation for the Dutch innings. The Netherlands did lose Vikramjit Singh and Wesley Barresi in the space of two overs but Max O'Dowd carried on his merry way. He got together with Bas de Leede and strung a 62-run partnership to put his side in firm control. Max O'Dowd fell 10 runs short of what would have been a brilliant hundred but he will be more pleased that he was able to play an important role in the team's win.

THAT'S A WRAP. Short-pitched delivery around off, Teja Nidamanuru hops back and pulls this to the deep mid-wicket region. The ball reaches the fence but they ran the single before it touched the ropes so the Netherlands win with a single.

Commentary

The umpires are out in the middle followed by the players of both sides. Max O'Dowd and Vikramjit Singh are the two openers for the Netherlands while Lalit Rajbanshi will open the attack for Nepal.

...RUN CHASE...

Right then, this has been a clinical bowling effort by the Dutch bowlers. Scott Edwards and Co. will be hoping to chase this down total quickly and significantly boost their net run rate. On the other hand, Nepal have their backs against the wall and it will take an exceptional bowling effort to defend this total. Can the Nepal bowlers rise to the challenge? We shall find out after we return in a bit for the chase.

Logan van Beek is in for a flash interview. He says that the conditions were good to bowl and it felt a little more of a building-up feeling with a lot of dots at the top and the wickets followed. Adds that the plan needs to be changed after the first 15-20 overs and we were fortunate enough that the plans paid off for us. Also adds that first things first we need to chase this down and then move on to the next challenge.

As the scorecard suggests, this has been a poor showing from the Nepal batters. Many of their batters got into double figures but neither of them was able to convert into something substantial.  After being put into bat by Scott Edwards, Nepal were dealt an early blow, losing Aasif Sheikh in the third over. Kushal Bhurtel and Bhim Sharki did well to safely negotiate the first ten overs and got Nepal off to a sedate start. However, once this partnership was broken, Nepal lost their way. They could never get going as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Skipper Rohit Paudel did play a lone hand but was dismissed after scoring 33 runs. Despite losing partners at the other end, Sandeep Lamichhane showed resistance but perished in his quest to go for the big shots.

The Dutch bowlers have vindicated their skipper's decision to bowl first and how! They have bundled out Nepal for 167 runs! The new ball pair of Logan van Beek and Ryan Klein picked up where they off in the last game with the former drawing the first blood for the Netherlands. Vikramjit Singh then went bang bang in quick succession to reduce Nepal to 54-3. The move to introduce spin worked wonders for Scott Edwards as Clayton Floyd and Aryan Dutt joined in on the act as well. Logan van Beek was brought back into the attack and struck in consecutive overs to put Nepal in more trouble. Bas de Leede's ploy to test the Nepal batters with short pitch stuff paid off as well as he ran through the Nepal tail. Logan van Beek was the star of the show for the Netherlands with figures of 4 for 24 from 9.3 overs.

We are all set for the game to begin. The Dutch players are seen in a huddle near the hopes before they spread out to take their respective fielding options. They are followed by the two Nepal openers. Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh will open the innings for Nepal. Logan van Beek has the new ball in hand for the Netherlands and is raring to go. Here we go...

We are not far away from the start of this Group A fixture but before that, it is time for the national anthems. It will be Nepal's first followed by the national anthem of the Netherlands.

Rohit Paudel, the captain of Nepal, says that they are aware of the challenging conditions in the first hour. Adds that batting first would be a real test for the team and they would have loved to bowl as well. Mentions that they got to bat well and put up a massive total.

Scott Edwards, the skipper of the Netherlands, says they will bowl first as the conditions favour the bowling team early on and they chase well as well. Adds that the batting of the team has been brilliant it is just the fielding that they need to work on and execute the plans with the ball. Adds that every game is a must-win if they are to build up for the major event in India later this year.

Nepal (Unchanged Playing XI) - Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh (WK), Bhim Sharki, Rohit Paudel (C), Aarif Sheikh, Kushal Malla, Dipendra Singh Airee, Gulsan Jha, Sandeep Lamichhane, Karan KC, Lalit Rajbanshi.

Netherlands (Unchanged Playing XI) - Vikramjit Singh, Max O'Dowd, Wesley Barresi, Bas de Leede, Teja Nidamanuru, Scott Edwards (C/WK), Logan van Beek, Shariz Ahmad, Clayton Floyd, Ryan Klein, Aryan Dutt.

TOSS - The two captains are out in the middle. The coin toss lands in the favour of Scott Edwards and the Netherlands have opted to BOWL first.

On the other hand, Nepal hasn't played up to their calibre and has lost a couple of games out of three played so far. Nepal hasn't performed anywhere near its abilities, and the team has faltered. It is a must-win for them if they are to stay in the hunt for the Super 6. Let's see if Nepal can bounce back and gain some momentum, or will the Dutch prove to be an uphill task for them? Stay tuned for toss and team updates on the other side.

The Netherlands started the campaign with a defeat but bounced back well in the last game against the USA. The Dutch have been batting well, but the fielding and bowling are what has concerned them so far. The form of Max O'Dowd and Scott Edwards has been a bright sign for the side, while the all-around performance of Vikramjit Singh has helped the team massively too. The team would also rely on these key players to come up big in this game if they were to defeat Nepal.

Hello and a very warm welcome to all our viewers. The Netherlands go head-to-head against a determined Nepal in match no. 14 at the Takashinga Sports Club in Harare.

...MATCH DAY...

Nepal will be up against Netherlands in a do-or-die game at Takashinga Sports Club, Harare. The Dutch side comes into this game with a win against USA while Nepal comes into this game with a big loss against the mighty West Indies side. Netherlands will be high n confidence as their skipper, Scott Edwards has scored a second consecutive fifty. He will look to lead his side and get over the line in this game as well. Their openers, Vikramjit Singh and Max ODowd were good with the bat in the first game but failed to deliver in their second game. They will look to put up a gritty stand and put up a good total on the board. Their bowling unit will look for some quick wickets and win this game. On the other hand, Nepal are just one loss away from being knocked out of the race to the World Cup. Their batting side needs to deliver well and put up a mammoth total of the board. Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheik, and Bhim Sharki play a pivotal role in the top 3. At least one of these 3 needs to play an impactful knock and that would allow Rohit Paudel, Aarif Sheikh, and Kushal Malla to build a bigger score on a well-set platform. Karan KC, Gulshan Jha, and Rajbanshi are the key bowlers for Nepal along with Sandeep Lamichhane who have the ability to pick wickets. The stakes are high as this game promises to be a cracker.
