Right then, that is all we have from this game. The first qualifier is set as Gujarat will take on Rajasthan and with Lucknow also qualified, that leaves one spot open in the playoffs. Bangalore currently hold that spot but on Saturday, the 21st of May, Delhi will take on Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium and that match could prove to be very crucial as a win for Delhi will see them topple Bangalore and qualify for the playoffs. That match starts at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) but our build-up will begin much sooner. Do join us for all the action. Take care and goodbye!

Ravichandran Ashwin (1/28 & 40* off 23 balls) is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH! Ashwin says that it feels like a million dollars and it is a big night for them to get the job done and get two bites at the cherry. Mentions that prior to the season starting, there was clear communication on what areas he needed to improve upon and management told him that they might use him in the Powerplay with the ball and might even ask him to bat at number 3, which he was ready for. Adds that he knows what his role is with the ball and he tends to force the batters to take risks against him. Mentions that he knows the ebbs and flows of the game and generally he isn't a power-hitter but the management has given him the freedom to express himself. Says that it feels great to qualify for the playoffs and it is a testament to the management as well and wherever he goes, he tries to take the franchise to the knockout games.

Sanju Samson, the captain of Rajasthan says that it feels very good the way they have played throughout the season and almost everyone has stepped up. Tells that Moeen Ali is a quality batter and it was a very good wicket but in the end, it was a great effort from the bowlers to pull things back. Tells that he wanted to bring Obed McCoy after the Powerplay to give him some break and tells that he used his change-ups quite well. Mentions that Chennai had quality bowlers in their team but Ashwin played a great knock and mentions that he worked hard in the nets ahead of the season and that has paid off and he has played a big role as an allrounder for them. Says that he is very happy for Ravichandran Ashwin.

The presentation ceremony...

Obed McCoy says that it was a better performance from him in the game and he had a lot more control. Tells that Malinga has worked with him in the nets and has told him to be consistent. Mentions that with the newer ball it was better for the batters and says that with the old ball it was important for him to bowl good lengths and bowl his variations. States that everyone is very happy with the performance and now it is time to take the momentum forward. Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony...

Chennai skipper, MS Dhoni says that they were playing a batter light and once they lost four wickets Moeen Ali had to change his game. Tells that if they would have gone hard at that time, they probably would have not gotten anything on the board. Says that they were 10-15 runs short but it is still important to start well. Says that the youngsters have learned a lot over this season and credits Mukesh Choudhary for the way he has developed from the start of the season till this last game and now it is important for them to build on this and not start all over again in the next season. Tells that their 'Malinga,' Matheesha Pathirana is very good and will play a big role in the coming season. Says that it is important that whenever one gets an opportunity it is important to grab the opportunity and learn from every game. Says that it is not a one-year tournament and the key is to keep growing and become a good Indian T20 League player for the next 10 years.

Let's head now for a few interviews....

Earlier in the game, Chennai opted to bat first and after losing Gaikwad early, Moeen Ali put on a show as he surpassed fifty in just 19 balls but then Conway got out and the tide just turned. Ravichandran Ashwin and co were able to just get in quiet overs and pick up wickets as well. Yuzvendra Chahal had another top outing and in the end, Chennai were scampering hard just to get to the 150-run mark. It was always going to prove to be a below-par score and even after giving it their all in the field, Chennai weren't able to trump Rajasthan who ended the game clinically and qualify in second place behind Gujarat.

Chennai end a disappointing campaign with yet another loss but they gave a fight tonight. Having put on an under-par score, the bowling needed to fire but after an early wicket, Mukesh Choudhary and Simarjeet Singh both were hit for a few boundaries. Once Mitchell Santner got rid of Samson, the spinners put brakes on the scoring rate and both Moeen Ali and Prashant Solanki picked up wickets as well. Matheesha Pathirana was economical too but with just 6 to defend in the final over, it was a tough ask from the young pacer. It is the end of the road for Chennai but boy, they have found a few solid players for the future.

Rajasthan must have been really pleased at the halfway stage and would have believed that they could win this crucial game but once again Jos Buttler fell early. Then came a fiery counter-punch from Yashasvi Jaiswal that steadied the run chase. Sanju Samson got out after a slow start as well but Jaiswal made sure that the runs kept flowing. Just like Chennai's innings, the batters found it hard to find the fence in the middle overs but the move to send Ravichandran Ashwin ahead of Shimron Hetmyer proved to be the difference. The wickets kept on tumbling but Ashwin kept on finding the fence in the final few overs to take his side home.

Yet another cracker of a game in the Indian T20 League but it is Ravichandran Ashwin's brilliance that has taken Rajasthan to victory here. And with this victory, they have also snatched the all-important second spot off of Lucknow's hands. Rajasthan will now have two bites at making it through to the final just like Gujarat. It is also Rajasthan's first-ever top two finish since the title winning campaign in 2008.

WIDE! Rajasthan seal this game and the number 2 position on the points table! Matheesha Pathirana goes for a wide yorker but the young man ends up bowling it bit too wide and on the wrong side of the tramline outside off. The umpire signals it wide and Rajasthan win by 5 wickets!

19.40

Good delivery! A fullish delivery, close to off. Riyan Parag looks to heave it across the line but misses.

19.31

A length delivery, around off. Ashwin looks to push it towards the off side. Mistimes it onto the turf and they take a single. Scores are level now! Ashwin is pumped up as he takes that single!

19.24

FOUR! Ohh...Ashwin, you beauty! It is yorker, around off. Ashwin makes room and slices it toward deep backward point fence for a boundary. Just 2 needed now!

19.11lb

An appeal for the LBW but Chennai do not take a review! A low full toss around leg. Parag looks to flick it but misses. The ball hits his pads and goes towards the off side. There is an appeal but it is going down leg.

Matheesha Pathirana (3-0-22-0) to bowl the final over. Can he defend 6 runs?

Single to end the over and 7 needed now from the last over! A shorter-length delivery, around off. Parag mistimes his pull towards the right of the bowler. Mukesh Choudhary moves to his right to stop it but only half-stops it and a single is taken towards the mid on region.

18.51

A very full delivery, outside off. Ashwin slices it to third man for a single.

18.42

A fullish delivery, around off. Ashwin creams it through the extra-cover region and comes back for the second run.

18.36

18.21

In the air but safe! Length ball, around the top of off. Riyan Parag goes for the big hit but gets a top edge that goes high and over the vacant point region. Single taken.

18.11

NOT OUT! Chennai take a review but the replays shows that the ball is pitching outside leg! It is almost a yorker around leg. Ashwin looks to clip it but misses. The ball hits his pads and there is an appeal as the batter run a leg bye. The umpire says no and Dhoni reviews it. However, Ball Tracking confirms that it is pitching outside leg. So a leg bye to end the over and now 19 needed from 12 balls!

Chennai have taken the review for an LBW decision. The third umpire is called in and checks Ultra Edge first which shows that there's no bat involved. Ball Tracking shows that the ball is pitching outside leg and that is all that the umpire needs to make his decision. NOT OUT!

17.54

FOUR! Ashwin is playing a gem of an innings here! Poor from Matheesha Pathirana though, there is no fielder in the deep behind square on the off side and he goes shorter outside off. Ashwin cuts it over backward point for a boundary.

17.41

Another good delivery! A very full delivery, on off. Parag digs it out towards mid off for a single.

17.30

A yorker this time, outside off. Parag looks to get a bat on it but misses.

17.24

FOUR! What a good shot under pressure! Slightly shorter on middle. Parag pulls it in the gap towards deep mid-wicket for a boundary.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! Chennai players are in the huddle and they disperse now to take their respective positions. Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal are the openers for Rajasthan. Mukesh Choudhary has a new ball in his hand. Can he provide an early breakthrough? Let's find out...

...THE RUN CHASE…

Right then, Rajasthan have a modest total to chase here and seal the second spot on the points table. Rajasthan will be backing themselves to chase this down with the kind of batting lineup they have. However, we have seen strange things happening in cricket and it will be interesting to see how the Chennai bowlers go about their business tonight. The run-chase coming up your way shortly.

Yuzvendra Chahal is once again the leading wicket-taker in the tournament. Let's hear from him. Chahal says that he is happy and it's always good to see a fight between the spinners for the most wickets in the competition. He says that he knows that he is now on par with Imran Tahir for most wickets by a spinner in the competition. Mentions that 150 is certainly a chasable total and they should get it. Adds that MS Dhoni is a power-hitter so it is important to vary the pace and the length as well and that's what he looked to do. Ends by saying that it's now in the hands of the batters to chase the total down.

Chennai’s innings was all about Moeen Ali today. He was the one who provided them with momentum in the Powerplay after they lost Gaikwad early. He raced to 59 runs inside the Powerplay but saw wickets falling at the other end and that made him curb his attacking instincts. Dhoni joined him in the 11th over but could not get going. It has been a problem for Chennai as they have lost wickets in cluster this season and once again like the last game they failed to get those finishing punches. Moeen Ali scored 93 runs from the total of 150 and in the end, Chennai look well short of the par score at this high-scoring venue.

If you ever had doubts about the quality of Rajasthan’s bowling, today was the day where all your doubts might be cleared. They were carted all around the park in the Powerplay by Moeen Ali despite Boult getting an early wicket but with the pitch being a belter there is always a possibility of bowlers going for runs in the Powerplay. However, the quality of Rajasthan's bowling came to the fore as Ashwin got them back into the game with the wicket of Conway after the Powerplay. Wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals after that as Chahal and Obed McCoy outfoxed batters with clever change of pace. Chennai’s innings was never allowed to go in the fifth gear after that and Rajasthan in the end will be happy to chase down this total.

75 runs in the Powerplay and just 75 from the next 14 overs. Sums up the batting performance of Chennai perfectly. Chennai will be very disappointed with this score after getting off to a flier in the Powerplay and especially this being a high-scoring venue. Have to say that Rajasthan are the favourites to win this game now and once again it is their mighty bowling lineup that has delivered.

Top over from Obed McCoy to end proceedings. Short of a length, over middle. Singh pulls it in front of square on the leg side for a couple of runs. Chennai finish with 150/6!

19.51

Around the hips, Mitchell Santner swings it behind square on the leg side. They look for two but the man at the backward square leg fence is quick to get across. Just a single then.

19.40

Back of a length, around off. Santner stands tall and drives it straight to the man at covers.

19.31

Slower again, on the stumps this time and Singh manages to push it down the ground for a single.

19.20

Another good slower delivery, on a length and slanted across the right-hander. Singh tries to nudge it behind point but misses.

Simarjeet Singh is the next man in.

19.1W

OUT! CAUGHT! Moeen Ali holes out and it has gone from bad to worse for Chennai. It's the back of the hand slower delivery from Obed McCoy, well under 100 clicks. Ali hangs deep and just looks to swing through the line. Ali ends up hitting it straight down the throat of Riyan Parag at long off and he doesn't drop those. Right at the death, bot set batters have perished for Chennai and Rajasthan right on top of proceedings here.

OUT! TAKEN! Courageous bowling from Yuzvendra Chahal and the extra delivery has proved to be a positive one for him. Chahal tosses it up full and outside off, the ball turns away as well. MS Dhoni tries to fetch it and drag it towards the mid-wicket fence but only manages to get the toe end on it. The ball goes a long way up but Jos Buttler at the wide long on fence settles under it well and takes a fine catch. Another good outing for Chahal and Dhoni has to depart.

Mitchell Santner is the next man in and Obed McCoy will bowl the last over.

18.61wd

WIDE! Chahal looks to bowl it wide but it's just a bit too wide. Dhoni looks to attack it but pulls out of the shot at the last moment.

18.51

Chahal sees Ali coming down the track and pushes it wider. Ali gets an inside edge towards backward square leg and picks up a run.

18.41

Short ball, outside off. Dhoni thumps it along the ground towards long off for a single.

18.32

Looped up, well outside off. MS Dhoni waits for it and drives it powerfully through covers for a couple of runs. Excellent work in the deep from Neesham yet again.

18.21

Another teaser for the substitute fielder James Neesham. Around middle and leg, Ali gets low and slog-sweeps it on the bounce to Neesham at the mid-wicket fence who almost came in a bit too much. Single taken.

18.14

FOUR! Down the leg side, Moeen Ali sweeps hard and even though it is mistimed, the ball goes past backward square leg and runs away into the fence.

Back of a length, angling across the left-hander. Ali stands tall and plays it on the up, straight to the man at cover.

17.41

Nicely done! Krishna hides the slower ball well and bowls it at just 101 clicks on middle. Dhoni looks to work it away leg side but gets a leading edge towards mid off. Single taken.

17.32

On middle, heaved away in front of square on the leg side for a couple of runs.

17.20

Good comeback! Pacy bumper, around off. With third man inside the ring, Dhoni just looks to help it over him but is beaten by pace.

17.16

SIX! SMOKED! Length ball, 143.2 kph and right in the slot on off. MS Dhoni clears the front leg and clobbers it over the mid-wicket fence for a biggie.

DRINKS! At one stage it looked like Moeen Ali is going to take Chennai past the 200-run mark with ease but Rajasthan have done really well to pick up wickets and slow down the scoring rate. This has made Ali notch down a gear or two but with just 7 more overs left, Ali and Dhoni will like to go after the bowling. Rajasthan will look to keep on taking wickets which will keep the scoring rate in check as well. A fascinating final phase of the innings awaits. Also, Ravichandran Ashwin comes back in to finish his spell.

We are ready to play! The two umpires make their way out to the middle as the Rajasthan players are seen in a huddle. The Chennai opening pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway take guard as Trent Boult is marking his run-up. Boult is raring to go, let's play...

Sanju Samson, the skipper of Rajasthan, says that they are comfortable doing both but they would have liked to bat first. Informs that they have one change with Shimron Hetmyer coming in for James Neesham. Says that Shimron Hetmyer had a couple of practice sessions and he is looking good. Tells that they have played good cricket so far and would like to finish on a high.

MS Dhoni, the skipper of Chennai, says that they will bat first because they want to give their batters enough time so they don't have any scoreboard pressure. Informs that they have made one change with Ambati Rayudu coming back in for Shivam Dube. About Rajvardhan Hangargekar, MS Dhoni says that he bowls a good length with decent pace as well and he wants to groom players like him who come in from the Under-19 level and give them ample time as well and that is the chat with the bowling coaches as well. Mentions that they want to win and they have a balanced side as well. Regarding his future with Chennai, Dhoni replies he definitely will be around and feels that it would be unfair to not say thank you by playing in Chennai. Further hopes that in the next season, they will be travelling more around the country and it will give him the chance to thank everyone. Tells that he will be working hard to come back strong next year.

Rajasthan (Playing XI) - Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson (C) (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer (In place of James Neesham), Riyan Parag, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Obed McCoy.

Chennai (Playing XI) - Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ambati Rayudu (In place of Shivam Dube), Moeen Ali, Narayan Jagadeesan, MS Dhoni (C) (WK), Mitchell Santner, Prashant Solanki, Simarjeet Singh, Matheesha Pathirana, Mukesh Choudhary.

TOSS - The coin goes up and lands in favour of Chennai. They have elected to BAT first.

PITCH REPORT - Sunil Gavaskar inspects the pitch. He says that it is generally a good batting surface and it will stay that way. The key is to survive the new ball and the early overs, after which the batters can take on the bowlers. There might be something for the spinners but still, batters will dominate.

Chennai, on the other hand, decided to try some new players in the last game with an eye on the future. All three young players that were brought into the playing XI had a decent outing and this is another great opportunity for Chennai to give some game time to the youngsters. They have a big fan base and their fans would be hoping that Dhoni and his boys finish the season on a high. However, the bigger question is, can Rajasthan register a win to seal the second spot on the points table? We shall find out. Toss and team sheets in a while.

Rajasthan have been one of the consistent teams of this season with Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal leading with the bat and ball respectively. However, the middle order has been a bit of an issue for Rajasthan and with Shimron Hetmyer back after a break, they will be upbeat about their chances in this crucial game for them.

It is Rajasthan going up against Chennai in game number 68 which is the last game at the Brabourne Stadium this season. Brabourne has been a high-scoring venue and it might well turn out to be a battle of sixes between two powerful batting lineups. Rajasthan are in with a golden chance of booking a second spot on the points table and a win in this game will seal the second spot for them. A loss, especially a big loss for Rajasthan can make things quite interesting as they have not yet officially sealed that playoff berth. A lot to look forward to and let’s hope for an exciting ride as we welcome all of you to our coverage.
