It is time for match number 5 where Bangalore will clash against Mumbai at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and even though Bangalore have not won a single trophy so far, the rivalry that the fans feel towards the five-time champions is at the highest level and puts ample spice into this game. The hosts had a decent campaign last time around as they finished fourth with 16 points having won 8 out of the 14 games and they beat Lucknow in the Eliminator. They stumbled against Rajasthan in Qualifier 2 and will hope that they can go a couple of steps further in this campaign. Mumbai had a forgettable season last year as the most successful franchise found itself at the bottom of the table, winning just four games in all but this is a side you can never count out in any competition with the quality and winning mentality they possess. Kieron Pollard decided to hang his boots as a player for the visitors and has joined the coaching staff with Rohit Sharma hoping to lead this side to its sixth title. A side that makes very few changes in between the mega auctions, Mumbai released Daniel Sams, Murugan Ashwin, Tymal Mills, Jaydev Unadkat, Riley Meredith, and Fabien Allen among others. They have maintained their batting core comprising Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Dewald Brevis, and Tristan Stubbs with the latter two yet to join the squad and have strengthened with the addition of Cameron Green who was bought for a massive INR 17.50 crore.
