Hello and welcome to match number 12 in the World Cup Qualifiers where Scotland will take on United Arab Emirates. Two teams who haven't had the best of starts to the tournament will face each other. Scotland started well, beating Ireland in a thriller but need to keep on winning other games. United Arab Emirates on the other hand have lost two in two. It is now time for match number 12 of the 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier, which sees Scotland take on the United Arab Emirates at the Bulawayo Athletic Club. As things stand, Scotland find themselves third in Group B with one win, whereas the United Arab Emirates are languishing at the bottom with two defeats from as many games. Scotland come into this game on the back of a thrilling one-wicket win over Ireland in their opening game of the tournament. In that game, Brandon McMullen starred for them with a five-wicket haul but found little support from the rest of the bowling unit. Moreover, they bowled too many extras and would want to improve on this aspect as they move forward in the competition. With the bat, opener Christopher McBride did provide them with a good start, but the middle-order batters were unable to convert their start into a big one. The likes of Matthew Cross, George Munsey, and Richie Berrington will be expected to step up with the bat this time around. In their pursuit of 287 runs, Scotland were struggling at 152-7, but Michael Leask and Mark Watt got together to put their sides’ innings back on track. Leask remained unbeaten on 91 and saw Scotland home on the penultimate ball of the game. As far as the United Arab Emirates are concerned, they have begun their 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier campaign with back-to-back losses and will be eager to get off the mark. In their last outing against Oman, they were off to a shaky start, losing both openers early. Thanks to knocks by Vriitya Aravind, Rameez Shahzad, and Asif Khan, the United Arab Emirates were able to resurrect the innings a bit. The young left-arm spinner Aayan Khan turned out to be a surprise package with the bat, and he powered his side to a respectable total. A lot will depend on the experienced opening duo of Muhammad Waseem and Rohan Mustafa, who have yet to impress with the bat in the competition. With not a big total to defend, the new ball pair of Junaid Siddique and Ali Naseer began well and did not allow Oman to get off to a flying start. However, the spinners Aayan Khan, Karthik Meiyappan, and Rohan Mustafa were unable to keep the pressure on, and they will be required to be on top of their game against Scotland. In the previous three meetings between the two sides, Scotland emerged victorious on two occasions. Will Scotland continue their dominance over the United Arab Emirates?
