Commentary

We are back with the chase. The two umpires make their way out to the middle and are followed by the openers of Gujarat Titans, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. Sunrisers Hyderabad spread out to take the field, and Mohammad Shami has the new ball in hand, set to start the proceedings. Shami to Sudharsan first up. Here we go!

... THE RUN CHASE ...

At the halfway stage, the Gujarat Titans are a bit ahead in this contest. With their top order in terrific form and the pitch still looking good to bat on, this chase should be well within their grasp. They’ll be eyeing a third-straight win to keep their momentum going. For the Sunrisers, they desperately need a win here, and for that, they need early wickets in the Powerplay and a flawless bowling performance to defend this below-par score. Can they pull it off, or will Gujarat cruise home comfortably? Stick around, as the action of the second inning is just moments away!

Mohammed Siraj of the Gujarat Titans is up for a chat. He says he is currently enjoying his form, attributing his success to the hard work he put in during the break to improve his fitness and mental strength. He feels refreshed and is taking pleasure in his bowling. Siraj believes that saliva on the ball has been a significant factor in their success, particularly in the death overs where they've been able to achieve reverse swing. He notes that the slower wicket prompted him to attack the stumps early on. Siraj thinks the opposing team managed to score about 10 runs more than they should have. However, he's confident that GT will still be able to chase down the target.

On the other side, the Gujarat Titans were absolutely clinical in both bowling and fielding. They applied pressure right from the start and forced SRH batters into making mistakes. Mohammed Siraj was fiery with both new and old ball, removing both openers early in the Powerplay and finishing with impressive figures of 4/17 overall at the end, which is his best figures in IPL so far. Sai Kishore tightened the screws in the middle overs, picking up key wickets of well-set Nitish and dangerous Heinrich Klaasen. Prasidh Krishna also chipped in with two important breakthroughs to derail SRH’s innings further, but only Ishant Sharma went expensive as he gave away 53 runs in his four overs.

Nitish Kumar Reddy, who top-scored for SRH with 31 off 34 balls, struggled to find rhythm throughout his stay. His inning lacked fluency and intent, which slowed down the scoring rate in the middle overs. Toward the end, Aniket Verma and the skipper Pat Cummins struck a few boundaries to push the score past the 150 mark, trying their best to give their bowlers something to fight with. But the big question remains - is this total enough on a decent batting surface?

These last couple of hits have powered Sunrisers Hyderabad past the 150 mark, but overall, the batting has struggled for SRH yet again in this match, much like their previous three games in the tournament. They could only post a modest total of 152/8, which clearly reflects another collective failure with the bat. The team managed just one fifty-run partnership, and although every batter in the top six managed to hit a couple of boundaries at least, none of them could carry on to play a substantial knock. It has been a classic case of starts without conversion.

Sunrisers Hyderabad finish with a good over. 17 runs come off it and they end at 152/8. Fuller and on off, Mohammad Shami whips it to long off and hustles back for two runs.

19.54

FOUR! No sighters needed for Shami against his former team! Short of a length and outside off, Mohammad Shami waits back and slaps it just over cover for a boundary. Valuable runs this as Sunrisers Hyderabad get to 150 runs.

19.41

Very full, on the pads, Pat Cummins moves across and flicks it to deep square leg for a single.

19.30

Short and over off, Pat Cummins lets it pass, hoping for it to be called a wide, but the umpire calls it a fair delivery. Unfortunately SRH have no reviews left to challenge it.

19.26

SIX! BANG! Seems like Pat Cummins is batting on a different wicket! Short and on middle and leg, Cummins nails his pull and gets the ball sailing over deep square leg for a biggie. 10 runs off the first two balls already.

19.14

FOUR! Cummins remains unfazed at the other end and is continuing to add valuable runs for his side. Ishant Sharma misses out on bowling the wide yorker right and serves a low full toss outside off. Pat Cummins shuffles a bit and thumps it through cover-point for a boundary.

OUT! TIMBER! Hits the target bang on this time and Mohammed Siraj finishes with 4/17! What a bowler he is turning out to be for Gujarat Titans! Fires it in on a length and angles it into the batter, on middle and leg, Simarjeet Singh swings across and plays all over it. The ball zips past the inside edge and sends the leg stump on a cartwheel.

18.50

Excellent yorker, just outside off, Simarjeet Singh fails to get his bat down in time and misses. The ball almsot kissed the off-stump on it's way.

Simarjeet Singh walks out next to bat. Simarjeet Singh comes in as an Impact Substitute in place of Travis Head.

18.4W

OUT! LBW! Looks absolutely plumb, but Aniket Verma has decided to review this one too. Siraj goes very full and nails the yorker that tails back into the batter, on middle and leg, Aniket Verma takes his front leg out and looks to jam it out but misses onto the back pad, right in front of the stumps. The UltraEdge shows no spike, and the Ball Tracking shows the ball to be crashing into middle and leg with all three reds. Aniket Verma departs and takes the last review with him too. Sunrisers Hyderabad lose two reviews in as many balls.

18.30

Short and around the tramline on off with some pace taken off. Aniket Verma tries to reach for it but misses. The umpire deems it a fair ball and Verma decides to send it upstairs for a check. The replay shows the batter to be on the off-stump line and the ball to be just inside the guideline and below the head height too.

18.22

Right in the blockhole, on middle and leg, Aniket Verma digs it to deep square leg for a brace.

18.11

Back of a length, over middle, Pat Cummins whips it to deep mid-wicket for a single.

Mohammed Siraj will bowl the penultimate over and will bowl out.

17.31

15.21lb

A very confident appeal for LBW from the bowler but the umpire turns it down. After a long chat with the keeper and the captain, Sai reckons not to challenge it. Full and outside off, bites the surface and turns in sharply to go past the bat and clip the back pad. The ball dribbles past the keeper to his left and the batters take a leg bye.

With the dismissal of Nitish Kumar Reddy, the umpire taps his watch and signals a Strategic Break. The pitch isn't suited for the style of play that Sunrisers Hyderabad are known for, and they are struggling big time here. Despite Rashid Khan going wicketless, the early breakthroughs from Mohammed Siraj and the way Sai Kishore has bowled in the middle phase have got the Gujarat Titans on top of the home side. SRH need to post something around 140 to give themselves a good chance. Kamindu Mendis walks out next for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

OUT! CAUGHT! Sai Kishore has sent both the set batters packing in quick succession! Continues to pick wickets in this middle phase, time and again. He bowls this with a flatter trajectory, on leg, Nitish Kumar Reddy clears his front leg out and looks to go big but miscues his shot off the inner half of the bat. Hits it in front of deep mid-wicket where Rashid Khan comes in and takes a simple catch around his chest height. STRATEGIC BREAK! Gujarat Titans are all over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the moment, as they have sent their top three back early. All the top three batters got a start, but they threw their wicket away, and SRH are into early trouble here. They need a big partnership, and their biggest retention, Heinrich Klaasen, is at the crease for now. They will hope to have him till the end to have a good score on a pitch, which is holding a bit and isn't the easiest one to bat on. On the other hand, GT just need to chip in two or three more wickets, and they will enter into the lower order of SRH. Who will come out on top? An interesting passage of play is ahead of us, and with that, Sai Kishore comes into the attack.

OUT! TAKEN! Sunrisers Hyderabad lose their top three for just 50 runs and Gujarat Titans are all over them at the moment. Prasidh Krishna has stayed persistent with his lines and lengths and is rightfully rewarded with a big wicket. He bowls it short of a length and on middle and leg. The ball sticks to the surface a bit and comes slower than Ishan Kishan was expecting it to as he pulls. He is a bit early on the shot and miscues it straight to deep backward square leg. Ishant Sharma keeps his eyes on the ball and takes a fine catch low in front.

We are all set for the play to begin in this crucial game of IPL 2025 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans. The umpires walk out to the middle followed by the away team, Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill. The openers for SRH will be Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. Mohammed Siraj will bowl the first over of this contest.

Travis Head of Sunrisers Hyderabad is up for a quick chat. He says that they have played best with that attacking approach, and different guys play individually with their game plan. Adds that, though, they have a strong batting lineup, but it doesn’t work every night, and it is all about individually taking responsibility when their chances come. Head says that he's hopeful that they will win tonight, and they want to do well in this game. Mentions that it feels good to be back here in Hyderabad, and he is excited to play.

Pat Cummins, the skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad, says they would have bowled first as well but are more than happy to bat first too. Mentions that the intent will remain the same and they love batting on this ground. Adds that as a team, they are not timid and are really looking at positives and doing well. Concludes that they have one change with Harshal Patel missing out due to some illness and Jaydev Unadkat making it to the playing XI.

The skipper of Gujarat Titans, Shubman Gill, says that they are going to bowl first as it looks like a slowish wicket, and they have been playing on the black soil in the previous two games, which tends to be sluggish. Adds that they have been playing fantastic cricket, so the message has been pretty clear to go out and adapt to the conditions very well. States that they have really good memories in the past three years, and they just try to bond well with everyone. Informs that Washington Sundar comes in place of Arshad Khan.

Impact players nominated by Gujarat Titans - Sherfane Rutherford, Glenn Phillips, Anuj Rawat, Mahipal Lomror, Arshad Khan.

Gujarat Titans (Playing XI) - Shubman Gill (C), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler (WK), Rahul Tewatia, Shahrukh Khan, Rashid Khan, Washington Sundar (replaces Arshad Khan), Sai Kishore, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Ishant Sharma.

TOSS - Success for Shubman Gill and Gujarat Titans at the coin flip. The skipper of GT, Shubman Gill, has elected to BOWL first.

PITCH REPORT - Danny Morrison is down for the pitch analysis. He says the conditions are superb. Mentions the boundary dimensions to be 70 meters and 63 meters on either side, and the straight one to be 76 meters. Varun Aaron joins him and says the highest score on this number 4 wicket in the past three years has been 165 runs, and reckons it would be a slightly slower one. Adds that the slower balls could work well.

This match promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams looking to assert their dominance. Sunrisers Hyderabad will need to rediscover their batting form and find some firepower. Meanwhile, GT's top order will look to continue their impressive run-scoring form to propel their team to victory. The bowling showdown will also be crucial, as SRH's bowlers will need to step up to support their batters, while GT's bowling attack will aim to dent SRH further. Stay tuned for the Toss and team updates as Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Gujarat Titans in this crucial IPL 2025 match.

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans are riding high on a two-match winning streak, led by the impressive Shubman Gill. The trio of Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler has been instrumental in GT's success, with the top order consistently delivering strong performances. While GT's bowling hasn't been spectacular, Mohammed Siraj stepped up in the previous match, and Gill will be counting on him to lead the charge again. With their momentum intact, Gujarat Titans will look to continue winning.

After a thrilling start to the season, Sunrisers Hyderabad have struggled to find their footing, with SRH's batting lineup failing to live up to expectations. The team's aggressive approach has raised concerns, and their bowlers haven't been able to bail them out in crucial situations. With their season slipping away, SRH needs a win to get back in the mix and rise from the bottom of the table. The team needs to address their batting and bowling woes to get back on track.

Welcome to the highly anticipated match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League 2025, Match 19. The stage is set at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, where SRH is looking to bounce back from a three-match losing streak while GT are eyeing their third straight win.

... MATCH DAY ...

We are onto match 19 of the 2025 Indian Premier League season, as the Sunrisers Hyderabad gear up for their third home game of the season, where they will be taking on the Gujarat Titans. The Sunrisers are in dire search of a win as they have lost 3 games on the trot coming into this contest. After their first game of the season where they got 286, their batting department hasn’t been anywhere near their best. Abhishek Sharma hasn’t gotten a single double-digit score this season, while Ishan Kishan, who scored a terrific 100 in the first game, has now faced 3 consecutive failures. Heinrich Klaasen has got starts but hasn’t yet converted any of them into big scores, while Travis Head has now failed in two consecutive games after getting two consecutive fifties. Their only shining light has been the introduction of Aniket Verma in their middle order, who has batted with serious intent and has been consistent with it, too. Their bowling attack hasn’t been at its best either. They have lagged a proper wicket-taker as Pat Cummins and Co. have failed to take wickets at regular intervals. They are currently trying to solve that issue through their leg spinner, Zeeshan Ansari, who has given glimpses of his ability with the ball. Their pacers, apart from the Powerplay phase, have been poor from the word go, as they have leaked runs at an alarming rate. Their captain, Pat Cummins, has been their most expensive pacer having given away runs in excess of 10 an over in this season. On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans are breathing easily as they are coming into the game on the back of two consecutive wins. Add to that the fact, that both their wins have been comfortable ones. After a run-fest against the Punjab Kings in their season opener, their bowling attack has come together as a unit, led by Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore, who have controlled the Powerplay and middle-overs phase. Rashid Khan hasn’t had the best of starts to the season, and GT would be hoping for him to come good in this game. Kagiso Rabada has flown back home due to personal reasons which is a big blow to GT. GT’s batting has clicked nicely so far, led by Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler, who have scored consistently in each of the 3 games. Their captain, Shubman Gill, has got some starts, and he would be eager to get a big score in the upcoming game. Sherfane Rutherford’s addition has been handy for the Titans, as he too has played some effective cameos. So, coming to this game, we might have run fest in the store, as both the powerhouse batting line-ups would be looking to score heavily. Will the SRH batting regain its lost touch and get a much-needed 'W,' or will the Gill-led GT win their third straight game? We shall find out.
