Commentary
We are back for the all-important chase! The Hyderabad players are in a huddle where Pat Cummins is giving them a last-minute pep talk. Now, they walk through the fireworks and spread out to take their respective field positions. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tom Kohler-Cadmore are the two openers for Rajasthan. Bhuvneshwar Kumar to start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...
... THE RUN CHASE ...
Rajasthan, on the other hand, looked like a side with a lot of hunger. Trent Boult even after getting hit for a few lusty blows set the tone by getting rid of Abhishek Sharma in the first over. They took a bit of beating from Rahul Tripathi but it was Boult who got the breakthrough again and followed it up with another inside the Powerplay. Their spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal went wicketless and was a bit expensive as well but Chahal made it up with three fantastic catches. Sandeep Sharma was excellent as usual and also got the big wicket of Travis Head while Avesh Khan was fantastic in the middle overs and got two wickets in two balls to shift the momentum back in their favour. They conceded a few after that but closed down well with Avesh adding another to his tally and conceding just six in the last over. Now, it is up to their batters to take responsibility and chase down this total to book their spot in the final, but Hyderabad won't make it that easy. It will be a really exciting run-chase. Join us in a bit for the second essay.
Trent Boult is up for a quick chat. He says that there was a mixture of wickets and boundaries in the Powerplay but the good thing was they were able to pick up wickets right throughout the innings. Adds that you need to be aggressive and mentions that the last two wickets they have played on have been the best ones for bowling and hopes that they can get the win. Reckons that the guys have adjusted well and goes on to applaud the likes of Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma..
Hyderabad once again suffered an early blow losing Abhishek Sharma in the very first over who got to a decent start. Rahul Tripathi counter-attacked nicely with Travis Head taking his time but the former lost his wicket just when he started to look dangerous. However, he did play a good cameo but Aiden Markram couldn't make any impact. Even after losing three wickets, Head and Heinrich Klaasen scored at a good rate but Head also was dismissed in a similar fashion to Tripathi just when he started to get going. After that, they suffered a mini-collapse which put them further on the back foot but the one good thing for them was Klaasen was still at the crease. He and Shahbaz Ahmed added crucial runs and the South African powerhouse noticed up an important half-century as well, but with both losing their wickets, they could not finish with a flurry.
A fantastic bowling effort from Rajasthan! They were up for this big game right from the start and their fielding was excellent as well. Hyderabad have huffed and puffed their way to a fighting total and the good thing for them is that there is not much dew here. However, the Men in Pink will be the much happier side going into the break.

OUT! RUN OUT! Avesh Khan comes from over the stumps and serves it on a hard length well wide of the off stump and takes some pace off it as well. Pat Cummins comes down the pitch to go over mid off but misses the ball and Jaydev Unadkat is off for the run. Cummins denies it and Sanju Samson throws the ball back to Avesh who turns out and throws it at the stumps. Hyderabad review it for a wide but it is clearly within the guidelines as Cummins moved across. The run out is also checked and IUnadkat is well out of his crease. Hyderabad finish with 175/9 on the board!
Full and wide outside off, Jaydev Unadkat squeezes it away through the cover region for a single.
FOUR! Somehow, Jaydev Unadkat has got that away for a boundary. Full and wide outside off, in the blockhole, Unadkat goes a long way past the off stump and tries to play some sort of flick shot but which way no one knows. Eventually, the ball goes off the inside half of the bat and gets scooped away down to fine leg for a boundary.
Jaydev Unadkat comes out to the middle now.
OUT! CAUGHT! Solid catch in the deep from Dhruv Jurel and Avesh Khan gets his third wicket. Avesh continues from around the stumps and looks to spear in a yorker at the toes but misses his mark by a few inches. It is a low full toss which is difficult to get under it and Shahbaz Ahmed tries to lift it over long on but mistimes it badly. Jurel comes running in from the deep and puts a good dive forward to take a dine catch.
WIDE! Digs it in well short and around off stump, this one loops up over the head and Shahbaz Ahmed leaves it alone for a wide.
Another dot ball and Rajasthan are closing things out nicely here. Takes some pace off and digs it into the pitch around off, Shahbaz Ahmed tries to pull but is early into the shot.
Nails the wide yorker! Comes from around the stumps and goes full and wide, Shahbaz Ahmed looks to back away and go after it but is beaten all ends up.

That reached the batter after an eternity and Pat Cummins is bamboozled yet again. Another slower delivery, bowled into the pitch and its just too slow off the deck, looping up and going past the batter.
Shahbaz Ahmed pre-meditates and goes well across the off stump, Sandeep Sharma sees this and bowls it into the pitch and pushes it even wide of the off stump. Ahmed swats it down to long on for a single.
Another slower ball, bowled on a good length and at the pads, Pat Cummins just nudges it away in front of square leg for a single.
Excellent change-up as Sandeep Sharma goes for the slower bumper now, bowling it around off stump and the ball just never arrives. Pat Cummins tries to uppercut it but misses by a long way.
FOUR! Pat Cummins has managed to squeeze it away. Another yorker, right on off stump, Pat Cummins jams his bat down and the ball goes off the outside edge, wide of the keeper and into the third man fence for a boundary.
Captain Pat Cummins is the next man in.
OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! Fifty and out for Heinrich Klaasen and that is a peach of a delivery from the highly underrated Sandeep Sharma. Sandeep just strides in from over the stumps and bowls it around 121 clicks but the line and length is just immaculate, the perfect yorker, tails back in a bit and Heinrich Klaasen is beaten all ends up. The ball makes a mess of the stumps and what a timely wicket here for Rajasthan, one that could make a difference of some substantial runs.
Sandeep Sharma (3-0-19-1) to bowl the penultimate over.

WIDE! Another slower bumper but Trent Boult gets the angles wrong and spills it down leg for a wide.
FIFTY for Heinrich Klaasen and this could be a massive inning in terms of the outcome of this game. Good length on the pads, Klaasen just tucks it away down to deep square leg and picks up a single. Klaasen will now look to go ballistic in the final couple of overs.
A slower bumper now, bowled well short over off stump and Shahbaz Ahmed just plays it with and angled bat and down towards short third for a single.
Good delivery! Full and right in the blockhole around the toes, Shahbaz Ahmed does well to jam it out behind the square leg region for a couple of runs.
Back to over the wicket and bowls a slower bumper outside off stump, Heinrich Klaasen waits and slaps it down to long off for a single.
WIDE! Changes the angle of attack by coming from around the stumps and goes for the wide yorker and spills it fractionally beyond the tramline for a wide.

A single to end and only four runs come off it. Back of a length, on the shorter side and around off, Shahbaz Ahmed plays it away off the back foot through cover-point for one.
At the moment, Avesh Khan seems to be getting the better of Shahbaz Ahmed. Bangs it in short, taking some pace off over middle and angles it well in, Ahmed backs away to pull but misses it completely.

Strategic Break! Wow, since that wicket right on the halfway mark, Hyderabad have once again slumped and Rajasthan have taken complete control of the game due to some excellent bowling. Heinrich Klaasen is still out there for Hyderabad but he is running out of partners and Rajasthan will feel if they pick up one more wicket, they can really keep Hyderabad down to a low score. There's still 6 overs left, plenty of time for the game to ebb and flow, so, let's see how it unfolds. Also, Shahbaz Ahmed comes in as the Impact Player for Hyderabad, replacing Travis Head.

They lured the batter by keeping the third man in the circle and this one full again, outside off, Nitish Kumar Reddy goes the for the reverse scoop for the second time, this time he connects but hits it straight to short third man where that man Yuzvendra Chahal takes another sharp catch. OUT! CAUGHT! Travis Head lets out a huge grunt as he throws his wicket away but that's smart bowling from Sandeep Sharma. A couple of quiet overs on the trot for Rajasthan and Head decided to find that valuable boundary. Another slower bumper from Sandeep, bowled quite short and angled well across the left-hander. Srategic-Break! We have an entertaining first 7 overs with both teams fighting hard and not giving an inch to the other. Rajasthan will be happy with the three wickets but they know the firepower of Hyderabad and need to keep picking up wickets. Travis Head is starting to get going and if he stays for a long time, he can take this game away single-handedly. A really exciting phase of cricket awaits us. Also, Yuzvendra Chahal has been introduced into the attack after the break.

As usual, it will be the dynamic dual southpaw duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma to open the innings for Hyderabad. And it will be another left-hander in the form of Trent Boult who will start proceedings with the ball here. Just the solitary slip in place, let's go...
Pat Cummins, the captain of Hyderabad says that they would have bowled first but they have batted well throughout the league stages and it is fine. Adds that they were well below their best in the last game but the mentality remains the same. Mentions that they have had some discussions about their bowling and Jaydev Unadkat comes in to strengthen that department. Informs Aiden Markram also comes in for Vijayakanth Viyaskanth.
Rajasthan's skipper, Sanju Samson wins the toss and says they will bowl first looking at the conditions. Adds that they are trying their best to recover from the bug that was going around in the team. Mentions that in the debrief, they felt they managed to cross the line in the last game playing at 70 percent of their potential. Also says that the beauty of the tournament is that you get to play on grounds with different dimensions and conditions and ends by informing that they are going with the same team.

PITCH REPORT - Ian Bishop is pitchside. He starts by saying that there is a nice wind blowing but the humidity is quite severe and the pitch being used in number 7 which hasn't been used at all. On one side of the square the boundary is just 61 meters whereas on the opposite side, it is 72 meters which might force certain bowlers to bowl from one particular end. Matthew Hayden joins him and says that the surface is extremely hard and it is black clay which means it will hold together well. Reckons there will be some bounce but not much spin and in terms of runs it is a 175-180 type of wicket but you won't be surprised if more runs are scored. Bishop ends by saying that the ground staff don't expect there to be much dew either.
Hyderabad, on the other hand, will be disappointed losing to Kolkata in the Qualifier 1 and it was like a big defeat as well. However, as they finished second in the table, they have another shot but they will have to take down Rajasthan first. Their batting has been relying a lot on their destructive openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma but Rahul Tripathi has also showed good potential with the bat. However, their middle order needs to step up as well. Their bowling attack is a solid one with captain Pat Cummins and Bhuvneshwar Kumar leading from the front while Vijayakanth Viyaskanth gives them a good spin option. Hyderabad will need to shift their focus on this game and if they play like they were in the league stages, it will be tough to defeat them. Will it be Hyderabad or Rajasthan to book their place in the all-important final? We will find out soon. Toss and team news in a bit.

It was an all-round effort from the team with Yashasvi Jaiswal coming back to form while Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag will be key in the middle order. Trent Boult was superb with the ball and Ravichandran Ashwin played a crucial role as well. With the middle order also firing, they have a great a chance of getting the better of their opponents and make it to their third final in this tournament.
Hello and a warm welcome folks! The time has come when we find out our second finalist in the Indian T20 League who will go on to face Kolkata. After a lot of exciting and dramatic encounters, we have the two teams who will fight it out to book their spot in the grand finale. A confident Rajasthan side will take on formidable Hyderabad in the Qualifier 2 to go one step closer to the trophy.
... MATCH DAY ...
After two intense playoff games, the stakes are higher than ever as we approach the crucial battle that will determine who faces Kolkata in the Indian T20 League 2024 Grand Finale. Qualifier 2 features a showdown between Hyderabad and Rajasthan at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Hyderabad, reeling from a disappointing loss to Kolkata in Qualifier 1, will be determined to rebound and showcase their formidable batting prowess, which faltered in the previous encounter. Travis Head, seeking to recover from two consecutive ducks along with Abhishek Sharma will be pivotal for Hyderabad on the slower Chepauk track. Rahul Tripathi's inclusion into the top order yielded success, but the lack of support led to the team being restricted to a subpar total of 159, which proved insurmountable with dew complicating their defence in the latter stages of the game. Rajasthan, on the other hand, snapped their four-match losing streak with a crucial victory over a red-hot Bengaluru team. Their bowling unit, spearheaded by Avesh Khan, stifled Bengaluru's powerful batting lineup, restricting them to 172 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tom Kohler-Cadmore set a solid foundation in the chase, which was expertly complimented by Riyan Parag, a standout performer for Rajasthan this season. The game went down to the wire, but Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell ensured a successful chase, sending Bengaluru home and propelling Rajasthan into this must-win Qualifier 2. After two months of relentless competition, these two sides are poised to set the penultimate stage ablaze as they vie for a spot in the grand finale on May 26, 2024. Who will rise to the occasion and secure their place in the ultimate showdown? The answer is just around the corner!
