Commentary

That’s it then from this game! Bangladesh have sealed their progression which means the Netherlands have been knocked out. Just the two games from the Group Stage left before the Super 8s begin. Until then, goodbye and take care.

The skipper of Bangladesh, Najmul Hossain Shanto says that they are very happy with how they played the group stage. Hopes to continue this bowling performance. Shares that the belief was there that they could defend the total if they picked early wickets. Adds that they have a good variety in their bowling unit and that is why they have excelled in this format. Feels that momentum is important in T20s and hopes to build on it.

The captain of Nepal, Rohit Paudel says the bowlers did really well. Batting could have been better but Bangladesh bowled really well. Admits they lost too many wickets in the first 6 overs but they fought back well. Ends by saying they need to step up as a batting unit and assess the wicket a lot better. Also says the team has great potential and he hopes to do better going ahead.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his stellar showing with the ball. He says they just wanted to bowl in the good areas and just wanted to defend this total. Adds everyone bowled well and hence, they managed to defend this. Says he was only focusing on his plan and it came well. Also adds they are confident heading into the Super 8s. Ends by saying the widket is not easy, you just have to bowl the right lines and lengths.

Time for the presentation ceremony...

Nepal then fought back courtesy of Kushal Malla and Dipendra Singh Airee. They really got their side back into the game. It came down to them needing 30 in 24. However, the Fizz yet again came to the fore for his side. He gave away just the 1 run in the 17th and got the wicket of Malla and in the 19th, it was even better, he got Airee and bowled a maiden. Shakib Al Hasan then bowled the last over and picked two in two to seal the game.

Yet another nail-biter of a game! Bangladesh in the end have prevailed and have sealed their progress into the Super 8s. Tanzim Hasan Sakib at the start and Mustafizur Rahman at the end were absolutely brilliant. Tanzim ran through the top order as he got 4 in no time. He bowled 4 in a row and got 4 massive wickets.

19.2W

OUT! PLUMB IN FRONT! Two in two for Shakib Al Hasan to finish things off! Bangladesh are through to the Super 8s. Pushes it through, on a nagging length and it skids through, on middle, Abinash Bohara gets on the back foot and gets inside the line to work it away with the angle. He fails to get any bat on it and it goes through to trap him right in front of the stumps. Up goes the finger but Abinash Bohara takes the review, more in hope than anything else. There is nothing on UltraEdge and it is three reds on Ball Tracking. Nepal have been bowled out for 85 and this is the lowest total ever defended by a team in Men's T20 World Cups.

19.1W

OUT! STUMPED! Believe it or not, this is the first wicket of this World Cup for Shakib Al Hasan. Offers flight and attacks the stumps, on middle, Sompal Kami skips down the track to go back over the bowler's head but gets done in the flight. He misses to connect and Litton Das does the rest by taking the bails off. Abinash Bohara is the last man in for Nepal.

OUT! EDGED AND GONE! End of Dipendra Singh Airee's struggles against the Fizz and that should be the game for Bangladesh. Angling across, on a back of a length, on off, Dipendra Singh Airee shapes up to work it fine on the off side with an open bat face but only manages a feather on it and Litton Das takes it low near his ankles. A wicket-maiden from Mustafizur Rahman. Nepal need 22 runs off the final over. Sandeep Lamichhane comes in at number 10.

18.50

Would you believe it? Five straight dots in the 19th over. Keeps it near the wide guideline on off, fuller and slower, Dipendra Singh Airee frees his arms but fails to connect once again as he swings.

18.40

Make that four dots on the trot. Sensational stuff by Mustafizur Rahman. Delivers it wide of the batter's arc, slower and near the tramline on off, Dipendra Singh Airee reaches out to go big on the off side but fails to put bat to ball.

18.30

Three dots in a row. Digs it in short, over middle and leg, Dipendra Singh Airee gets beaten for pace this time as he goes for the pull as the ball sails over his bat.

18.20

And again! Going across the batter, slower and on a length, Dipendra Singh Airee gets undone by the slowness of the delivery and connects with thin air.

18.10

Takes pace off and goes full, on off, Dipendra Singh Airee shapes up to go down the ground but misses as the ball grips in the surface and goes past the bat.

Taskin hits the deck hard and it hurries the batter as well, on off, Gulshan Jha sets deep in his crease and goes for a swipe across the line. The ball gets big on him and it lobs tamely off the splice of the bat towards short cover where Towhid Hridoy makes no mistake. Sompal Kami is the new batter.

17.40

Beaten! Angling away, on a hard length and skidding through, on off, Gulshan Jha tries to use the pace but the ball climbs onto him and zips past the shoulder of the bat.

17.31

Goes short again, over middle, Dipendra Singh Airee rolls his wrists nicely on the ball and pulls it through square leg for one. 7 runs off the first 3 balls. How much more can Nepal get off this over?

17.20

17.16

SIX! Dipendra Singh Airee goes big! Taskin Ahmed digs it in short but it is not short enough, around off, Dipendra Singh Airee skips down the track and cracks it over point for a biggie. What a start to a crucial over for Nepal.

Commentary

Welcome back for Nepal's reply. The two umpires have made their way out to the middle as have the players of Bangladesh. It will be Aasif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel to open the innings for Nepal. Tanzim Hasan Sakib has the new ball in hand and he is raring to go. Let's play...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Right then, this has all the makings of another low-scoring thriller. On a surface that has offered the most turn of any venue in this World Cup, it is not going to get any easier for Nepal. Bangladesh will back themselves to defend this total, knowing that a win will secure their spot in the Super 8s. If they lose and lose badly, the Netherlands will have a strong chance to advance, provided they win against Sri Lanka. Join us back in a bit for the second essay.

Sompal Kami is in for a chat. He says that the wicket was really good and he is happy to reap the rewards for his hard work and planning. Thanks the skipper, Rohit Paudel for believing in him and giving him 3rd over on the trot in the Powerplay. States that it is a slow wicket, which is why they wanted to use a spinner at the death. Shares that it is a tricky wicket and that they will have to bat sensibly to get over the line.

For Bangladesh, the match began disastrously with the loss of Tanzid Hasan on the first ball, and it only got worse from there. Attempting to take the game to Nepal, they were rocked early, losing 4 wickets in the Powerplay. The experienced duo of Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah then joined forces to stabilize the innings. Just as they seemed to be rebuilding, a mix-up led to Mahmudullah's downfall. Things deteriorated further as Shakib also fell soon after without making a significant impact. Batting with the tail, Rishad Hossain got a couple of boundaries away but failed to bat through. Thanks to the last-wicket stand of 18 runs between Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed, Bangladesh were able to scrap their way to 106.

A masterful bowling effort by Nepal to bowl Bangladesh out for 106. However, they will still feel that they gave 10 runs more than what it looked to be at one stage. After opting to bowl first, Nepal got off to a dream start. Sompal Kami set the tone by striking on the very first ball of the game. Building on that early breakthrough, Dipendra Singh Airee maintained the pressure, and Kami rewarded the skipper's decision to give him a third consecutive over. Towhid Hridoy showed some positive intent but his stay was cut short by Rohit Paudel, compounding Bangladesh's struggles. The Nepalese spinners then took over and chipped away at the wickets in the middle phase. However, the gamble to give Abinash Bohara the 19th over, instead of opting for a frontline bowler, may come back to haunt Nepal as he conceded 11 runs. This decision could prove crucial in such a tightly contested match.

19.3W

OUT! RUN OUT! There is the end of the innings. Bangladesh end with 106. Rahman hit that well. This is fuller. He hits it towards cover and they go for a run. It went to quickly. The fielder collected it cleanly and fires it to the bowler who takes the bails off.

19.21

Angled into the pads. Taskin looks to drive, this goes off the inner half towards short fine leg for one.

19.14

FOUR! These are bonus runs. Really bonus. Off the outside edge but Bangladesh won't care. Good start to the last over. They would love a big one here. Outside off. Taskin swings but it skews off the outer half over point and to the fence.

Time for the action to begin now. Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan are the openers. Sompal Kami to begin. Here we go...

Time for the National Anthems! Nepal will sing their first and then it will be Bangladesh's turn!

PITCH REPORT - Alan Wilkins is near the deck. He says that a nice breeze is blowing across the venue. Tells that it is a 68-metre boundary on one side and 61-metre to the other side with a 74-metre straight hit. Samuel Badree joins him and says that if you are a spinner, this is the venue where you want to be at. Further says that this venue has seen the highest degree of turn of all venues at this World Cup and spinners will enjoy themselves here. Informs that 19 wickets have fallen to spin at this ground while pacers have taken only 7 wickets. Badree shares that there are a few bare areas and the ball might behave differently from those areas. Adds that variable bounce will be challenging for the batters.

Bangladesh's skipper, Najmul Hossain Shanto says he is very proud of the effort shown by the boys so far. Informs they have no changes.

The captain of Nepal, Rohit Paudel says that they will bowl first. Adds that with the dew coming in, it might get tough to bowl later. Says they are disappointed with the last result but are looking forward for this game. Mentions the fans have been very supportive and he wants to thank them. Informs they have one change with Sundeep Jora coming in for Karan KC.

Nepal (Playing XI) - Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Anil Sah, Rohit Paudel(C), Kushal Malla, Sundeep Jora (In for Karan KC), Dipendra Singh Airee, Gulshan Jha, Sompal Kami, Sandeep Lamichhane, Abinash Bohara.

Bangladesh (Unchanged Playing XI) - Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto (C), Litton Das (WK), Shakib Al Hasan, Towhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah, Jaker Ali, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mustafizur Rahman.

TOSS - Nepal have won the toss and ELECTED TO BOWL!

On the other hand, Nepal will be looking to recover from their heartbreaking last-ball defeat and aim to finish on a high note. Their spin attack has been effective, and they will likely rely on it again in this game. With the bat, Nepal has the potential to dismantle opposition bowling attacks, but success will require a collective effort and the ability to withstand pressure, something they struggled with against South Africa. In the last game, Rohit Paudel and his men showed that they pack a punch and can challenge the top sides. Are we in for a late twist in Group D? Let's find out. Toss and team news coming up.

Bangladesh, with 4 points from 3 games, are in the best position to advance and need just a point to secure their spot. The Netherlands, the other team in contention, are hoping for a heavy defeat for Bangladesh. If that happens, the Dutch will need to win big enough against Sri Lanka to surpass Bangladesh on NRR. Although Bangladesh's top order has struggled, their middle order has stepped up, compensating for the lack of runs at the top. Their pace attack has been impressive, and Najmul Hossain Shanto has also had his spin department deliver at crucial times.

Hello and welcome to our coverage of the game between Bangladesh and Nepal at the Arnos Vale Ground in St. Vincent. As we reach the climax of Group D, with two games remaining, the race to join South Africa in the Super 8s is still open.

... MATCH DAY ...

The race for the last remaining Super 8 spot in Group D is heating up, and Nepal's heartbreaking 1-run loss against South Africa has left Bangladesh and the Netherlands as the two surviving contenders. Najmul Hossain Shanto and his men now face Nepal at the Arnos Vale Ground in St. Vincent. Nepal do not have much to lose from this game, but Bangladesh have everything to gain, as a win by any margin will suffice for them to go through. However, the Netherlands are in with an outside chance here, hoping for a Nepal win, and then they will need to beat Sri Lanka by a healthy enough margin to pip Bangladesh on NRR. It was a hard-fought win for Bangladesh in the last encounter against the Dutch, where the return to form for Shakib Al Hasan was the biggest positive for them. While Towhid Hridoy has shown glimpses of his potential, Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Mahmudullah, who haven't had the desired impact, will be required to step up. Leggie Rishad Hossain has been the X-factor and has single-handedly led the charge in the spin department. As for the pace department, it has been a collective effort, with Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib putting their hands up at different junctures in the competition. On the other hand, Nepal had history in their sights, with just 21 needed off 24 balls against South Africa and 7 wickets in hand. It wasn't to be, though, as they let it slip from a winning position and crumbled under pressure. Despite that loss, Nepal have shown that they are no pushovers and will aim to bow out on a high, possibly spoiling the party for Bangladesh. With one game against Sri Lanka being abandoned, Nepal have only had a couple of games to show what they got, and on the batting front, Rohit Paudel, Aasif Sheikh, and Anil Sah have displayed flashes of brilliance. Kushal Bhurtel and Dipendra Singh Airee may not have contributed with the bat as they would have liked, but the duo chipped in with the ball in the last game and formed a formidable spin attack alongside Sandeep Lamichhane. If Nepal are to take down Bangladesh, their pace contingent, consisting of Sompal Kami, Karan KC and Abinash Bohara, will have to come through. Rohit Paudel and Co. came ever so close to beating a Test-playing nation, South Africa, in the previous encounter. Can Nepal get the job done this time around and upset Bangladesh's apple cart? We will find out soon enough.
