The morning session on the final day is set to begin. The Indian players make their way out on the field, followed by Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root who walk out with their swords. The weather is overcast, hopefully, the rain stays away. It will be Mohammed Siraj to start with the ball. Here we go...

The early morning conditions in England always offer something to the pace bowlers. The likes of Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah will be banking on that to produce the goods. The old 'soft' ball has not helped their cause as runs came at a brisk rate last evening. This is something India will like to avoid. The Indian body language will be crucial as well as their shoulders started to drop when Jonny and Joe put them to the sword. It's not all over for them and a bright start will push this Test towards a thrilling finish.

Welcome back, folks! We have at last arrived on the last day of this long Test series and it's still tightly poised. Although England have their noses ahead, they still have 119 runs to get and against this Indian bowling attack, nicely rested now, it is not going to be straightforward. The Indian fans will be wishing for an English collapse this morning whereas the home crowd will hope that the pair of Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root make light work of the remainder of the work. India, like New Zealand, failed to grab their opportunities. They had the chance of batting England out of the game but the shot selection by their batters could be questioned. Their bowlers, later on, found the going tough on a wicket that did not provide a lot of assistance. Bumrah was the pick but the rest failed to give any support. The first thing the visitors need to do is to break this stand and hope that opens the floodgates.

England's approach was brilliant yet again! The openers scored at a very brisk rate and put up 100 in no time. England then lost three in quick time but Root and Bairstow have continued their excellent form and have forged another outstanding stand which could well be a match-winning one. The day has well and truly belonged to them! First, their bowlers did brilliantly to not let India bat them out of the game, and then it was their batting that arrived to the fore.

Yet another terrific show by England in the 4th innings of a game and they have put themselves into a real position to actually win it. They scored 152 runs in the last session in just 34 overs and now need just 119 runs to win!

We are back for the third and final session of Day 4 in Birmingham. What a crucial session this may prove to be in the context of the game! We could very well know which direction this game will go. The Indian players have walked out with a bit of a spring in their steps as they are pumped up after the last two overs of the previous session. England will try to continue to be positive. Alex Lees and Ollie Pope are ready to resume the battle and Jasprit Bumrah is ready with the ball.

A cracking finish to the afternoon session which was thoroughly dominated by England. A wicket late in the session was the only black spot for the home team. Their supposedly weak link in batting, i.e. the openers, provided them with a century stand and took out a big chunk of runs from the target. Alex Lees batted with positive intent and it soon rubbed on his partner Zak Crawley as well. The change in ball changed India's fortunes and they will look to regain control of this game after the break. It's all set up to be another enthralling session. England will be pleased with the outcome of the first two hours of Day 4. But they know that the poor performance in the first innings will keep on haunting them. The lead for India has already swelled to 361 runs, and if they manage to cross the 400-run mark, it will leave the Three Lions with a daunting task in the last inning. They picked wickets at regular intervals and forced a mini-collapse. From 153 for 3, India slipped to 207 for 7, and they now have Ravindra Jadeja left as the last recognized batter. That said, his partnership with Mohammad Shami is going at a good rate and the hosts would want to break it as soon as possible.

He seems a man low in confidence at the moment and a stunner could have worked wonders for him.
