Right then. That’s it from the coverage of this game. Sri Lanka still has a game in hand to take a consolation win in the final T20I game of the series. India will be surely eyeing to complete another whitewash in 2022. The final game will be played on 27th at 1900 IST (1330 GMT). But as you all know you can join us early for the build-up. Till then take care and goodbye!

Shreyas Iyer wins the MAN OF THE MATCH AWARD for his exceptional effort with the blade. He says he loves to shuffle across in the crease but sometimes the bowler are smart enough to bowl a yorker. Adds that it was really important to time the ball. Kishan fell but Samson and Jadeja helped to build the partnership. Asked about Kumara bowling his third over, he wasn't thinking much about it. Mentions that the ball wasn't turning much so he started going big and it went with the flow.

Rohit Sharma, the victorious skipper, is in for a chat. On being asked about the tricky start, he says, seeing the middle order step up is really good to see. The guys are taking the responsibilities and completing the game with ease. Says, he does not want to blame the bowlers, the first 15 overs were really good but they need to work on their death bowling. Mentions, all the guys possess a lot of talent, and the side will make sure to give them ample opportunities. Adds, the kind of form Shreyas Iyer is in, it couldn’t get any better for the side. On being asked if he will make any changes for the final game. He jokingly replies and says that they will have a word tomorrow and come to a decision. Mentions they have a lot of players in their squad and they need to take care of every individual.

Dasun Shanaka, the Sri Lankan skipper says looking at the conditions, the score was a good one but they should have done better in the Powerplay. Adds they have a plan in bowling. Tells the game was set nicely for him to go guns-blazing in the death overs.

Stay tuned for the presentation...

Sanju Samson is in for a chat. He says the wicket was playing nicely and the boundaries were short. He didn't feel the score was a huge one and Shreyas Iyer helped him to get his rhythm. Tells that it's been a long time he played cricket so he needed to get used to the conditions. Informs it was cold out there. They are always told to keep their standards. The condition were difficult but they have enough experience. Ends by saying it is a big day for him as he made his debut 7 years ago today and he is grateful to help his team.

Sri Lanka could not continue the domination with the ball throughout the innings. Sri Lanka were off to a bright start as they sent back the Indian opening pair within the Powerplay. But once the spinners came into the attack. Shreyas Iyer took the bowlers for a ride. The bowlers could not keep things tight in the middle and ended up leaking away aplenty. By the end of the innings, it also looked like Sri Lanka dropped shoulders in the field. In the end, they could not falter the Indian batting attack. Lahiru Kumara picked up a brace.

What a brilliant show with the blade by Shreyas Iyer. He held the key for India during the chase and got his side over the line with the help of some knocks by Samson and Jadeja from the other end. India lost two wickets inside the Powerplay. One would’ve thought India would be in a lot of trouble with the ball swinging ferociously. But Shreyas Iyer applied himself really well and it looked like as if he was batting on some other deck. First, he built a solid stand with Sanju Samson to steady the ship and later, stitched another solid stand with Ravindra Jadeja to take a 2-nil lead in the series.

OH MY GOD! What an incredible chase by the Indian batters. At one point, it looked like India would slip out but a stand of 58 runs off 26 deliveries for the fourth wicket, made sure to seal the series for the hosts. Sri Lanka could not control the game even after taking quick wickets at the top. This is India's eleventh consecutive T20I victory.

Commentary

We are back for the chase. Sri Lanka are in the huddle and now they spread to the respective position. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan are the openers for India. Dushmantha Chameera to start with the ball. Here we go ...

... The Chase...

Right then! 184 to win for India. A big total but the batters of India are oozing confidence right now and they will fancy chasing it. Sri Lanka though need to win this to keep the series alive and they need wickets regularly. Stay tuned for the second half of the essay.

Danushka Gunathilaka is up for a chat. He mentions that the conditions were not easy with the bowlers swinging the ball. Although he thinks the things worked out really well for them and back themselves to restrict India.

Apart from the middle phase, India did not enjoy much control. The opening bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave a good start but the opposition survived. The spinners came in and gave the breakthrough and India controlled the middle phase. It looked like they would end on high but the late surge from Nissanka and Shanaka took the game slightly away from them.

Pathum Nissanka held the innings for Sri Lanka. The openers got a good start but after the wicket of Danushka Gunathilaka, it was all downhill. Nissanka was watching wickets fall on the other side and then the skipper, Dasun Shanaka pushed on the brakes and provided with a much needed stand. A 58-run parntership helped Nissanka and Shanaka helped post a total of 183.

So, 72 coming off the last 4 overs. Superb end by Sri Lanka and from their skipper, Dasun Shanaka who scored a brilliant 47 off just 19 deliveries. They will be very happy with the way they ended and now the bowlers have a good total to defend.

We are set for the clash. The Indian players stride out to the middle. Followed by Pathum Nissanka and Danushka Gunathilaka who walk out to open for Sri Lanka. Bhuvneshwar Kumar to start with the new ball. Here we go...

Dasun Shanaka, the Sri Lankan skipper says they would have bowled first as well as the pitch was covered for a long time. He hopes the openers give a good start. Informs there are two changes.

Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper, is in for a chat. He says they will bowl first. Mentions they just need to have the score in front of them, no other idea behind it. Says it does not depend on wins and losses, it depends on what the team wants. Says they had to rest a few players. Says that the changes in the squad does not depend on the result.

Sri Lanka (Playing XI) - Pathum Nissanka, Danushka Gunathilaka (In for Janith Liyanage), Kamil Mishara, Charith Asalanka, Dinesh Chandimal (WK), Dasun Shanaka (C), Chamika Karunaratne, Dushmantha Chameera, Praveen Jayawickrama, Lahiru Kumara, Binura Fernando (In for Jeffrey Vandersay).

India (Unchanged playing XI) - Rohit Sharma (C), Ishan Kishan (WK), Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda, Venkatesh Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal.

TOSS - Up goes the coin and it lands in the favour of Rohit Sharma. India will BOWL first!

PITCH REPORT - Ajit Agarkar says although it was raining for a long time, the ground staff have done a terrific job. Says the pitch looks in good condition and with lovely grass cover, the ball will come good on the bat. Deep Dasgupta adds the ground is longer on the one side and even the pitch looks good to bat. Ends, It will be interesting to see what the captains will choose.

Sri Lanka need their batters to step up if they are to level the series. In the first game, it was only Charith Asalanka who got a good start. Although they do have an experienced bowling pack, they have taken a blow in the spin department with the loss of Maheesha Theekshana due to an injury. There might be some new faces in this game. The visitors have a poor T20I record against India and they would be eyeing to turn their luck around. Also, the conditions are overcast here so rain might play a part. But we hope that it stays away from the action. Stay tuned for the toss and other updates.

With the bench strength that India possesses, their squad in the first game never looked like it was missing some big names. The skipper, Rohit Sharma used his bowlers really well and allowed Deepak Hooda and Venkatesh Iyer some time with the ball that did not go in vain. Also, the top order went all guns-blazing and would hope they continue in the same manner.  Until Ruturaj Gaikwad is fit to play, we should expect the same 11 for the hosts.

Hello and a warm welcome to the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka. The hosts have taken a 1-nil lead in the series. But now the conditions would be very different as both teams head to Dharamsala. India performed really well and got over the line convincingly by a 62-run margin.
