From that angle, it did seem like the angle will take the ball down the leg side, as Theekshana was bowling it from around the wicket. Update 7.50 pm (2.20 pm GMT) - Yipppeee! Great news. We are hearing from the middle is that the covers are completely off and the play should begin at 8 pm local (2.30 pm GMT)!

Update 7.20 pm (1.50 pm GMT) - Hmmm... this was coming. HD Ackermann mentioned on air that just before the start of the 9th over, he was seeing groundstaff near the covers, making some movement. He did not reckon that it will rain but if the Lankan groundstaff get a bit impatient, rain is around the corner. And it did arrive. It began as a light drizzle, which is why the umpires did not take the players off immediately. But just as Wiaan Mulder looked to take guard, the drizzle got heavier and covers were called upon. It has gotten heavier now and this might be a lengthy delay. Fingers crossed.

Wiaan Mulder walks in at number 6, replacing Janneman Malan. It is drizzling slightly, but the umpires have chosen to go on with the game.

OUT! CAUGHT! It is a catch and Malan goes! Theekshana strikes off his first delivery in international cricket. What a moment for him and he will be very happy. Let's stop here for a moment and describe this in two different parts. First part. Is it a catch? Sri Lanka are celebrating. But Malan is going nowhere. Pretty straightforward. The bat has hit the ground and the ball has gone off the outside edge. Pretty sure, Malan would have felt the bat hitting the ground as a bump ball, hence, wanted confirmation. Now, the second part. How good a catch was that from Mr. Dhananjaya de Silva? Very, very, very. Magnificently brilliant. We are running short of adjectives. Yes, it was a spinner. Yes, the ball does come slowly as compared to that of a fast bowler. But this one, just flew right at his face. De Silva just showed his reflex action and at the right moment, got his hands in front of his face and the ball went right into those buckets. My word, that is simply sensational. Congratulations, Theekshana, but please honour Dhananjaya for that ripper of a catch.

Now, Theekshana seemed to be giving a stare back at Mulder who was going off but then, when he saw the batter giving him a stare, decided to stare back. OUT! LBW! What a review from South Africa! They have been perfect with their reviews so far! Brilliant stuff. Floated on middle and leg, Chandimal looks to sweep but misses and gets hit on the pads. There is an appeal made for LBW, but there is no conviction in it. Linde himself is not too sure and is pretty much happy to go back and bowl but Keshav Maharaj, don't know from where, is pretty confident that this is plumb. He takes the review straightaway and voila! Ball Tracker shows all three reds and South Africa have their second! Perhaps Linde thought that was pitching outside leg, but Maharaj was supremely confident.

Dasun Shanaka, the Sri Lankan skipper, says that they will bat first. Mentions that hopefully they win this match as the wicket looks good. Informs that their bowling is more important as they didn't bowl well in the last game. Adds that they have made three changes.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, would be disappointed with their performance in the second ODI. They do not have a good record in series deciders in the last 7 years and they would want to change that fact in this game. They did well in the first ODI before being hammered in the second game and this is a game which both teams will be looking forward to as it is the decider. Who will come out on top?

South Africa made a strong comeback in the second ODI and lived to fight despite the absence from their ranks of Quinton de Kock, David Miller, and Lungi Ngidi and also without their skipper, Temba Bavuma who had his thumb broken in the first ODI. They face yet another challenge coming into the final ODI as Rabada is a doubt for the match and if he is declared unfit, it will be interesting to see who will replace him.

Hello and welcome to the third and final ODI between Sri Lanka and South Africa. The hosts won the first ODI by 14 runs and then the Proteas stormed back in the second ODI and hammered the Lankan side to level the series 1-1. And here we are, on the cusp of another decider.
