Pakistan beat Afghanistan by 66 runs

Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah

That is it from this game and the series! Rashid Khan has been handed over the trophy. A series Afghanistan will never forget. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. It is goodbye for now.

Rashid Khan says it is special to lead this team and as a captain, he is very happy with the players. Adds they responded well in pressure situations and batted well in the first two games. Reckons this was a better wicket than previous matches and he felt it was a gettable target. Shares they are preparing for the next World Cup and this series was a great learning. Mentions he tries to keep his bowling simple and hit the right area.

Mohammad Nabi is the Player of the Series. He is glad to win the series.  Adds that the conditions were tough and the matches were close too but happy that they came out on top in first two games. Mentions that he is happy with his contributions and will look to perform similarly in future.

Shadab Khan is the Player of the Match. He says they wanted to finish the series on a higher note and they did it. Adds they adapted to the conditions well in this game. Shares they wanted to give some youngsters a chance and give them confidence for the future.

...Presentation time...

Pakistan have something to take from this series. The bowling finally clicked in this match. Ihsanullah has been superb throughout but the likes of experienced players stepped up. Pakistan were coming into this series with a lot of inexperienced players but have so much positive to take home apart from the series. They also avoid whitewash at the hands of their neighbors.

Pakistan win the game but it is Afghanistan who take the series. A historic win for them beating Pakistan for the first time. Talking about this match, it didn't go as per their plan. After choosing to bowl first, Afghanistan were taken to the cleaners by some fine batting from Saim Ayub and cameos from hard-hitting finishers. Above 180 was always going to be difficult and three wickets in the Powerplay didn't help Afghanistan either. They kept on losing wickets regularly. The exploits from Rashid Khan and Azmatullah Omarzai in the back end too, prove to be in vain. Afghanistan succumbed under pressure right from the start and never showed glimpse of comeback.

...The chase...

Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the pick of the Afghan bowlers with 2 wickets while the rest of the bowlers picked up one apiece and had a decent outing with the ball. Afghanistan could have done a bit better but failed to gather any momentum. Right then, can Afghanistan chase it and make it 3-0 or will Pakistan take this one and get a win? We shall find out. The second essay is coming up shortly.

Some lower-order hitting by Pakistan have got them over 180. Having put into bat first, Pakistan lost a couple of wickets inside the first five overs. Abdullah Shafique played a quick cameo at the top and got the run rate going. Saim Ayub took the time upfront but got into his groove and played a fine knock. He was dismissed just one short of his fifty. Iftikhar Ahmed then held the middle innings together with a steady 31 while skipper Shadab Khan provided the finishing touches and made a quick-fire 28 to take Pakistan to a decent total.

Hello and a warm welcome to our coverage of the final T20I in this three match series between Pakistan and Afghanistan from Sharjah. Afghanistan have already clinched the series and will look for a similar effort to make this a historic whitewash. Gurbaz and Nabi have been key players with the bat while Fazalhaq Farooqi led the bowling attack with 4 wickets in 2 games so far. Rashid Khan and his men will be upbeat for the challenge to whitewash their neighboring country.

...Match Day...

It is now time for the third and final T20I of the three-match T20I series between Afghanistan and Pakistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Before the start of the series, Pakistan, being the higher-ranked side, were the favourite to win the series. However, Afghanistan have sprung a surprise by winning the first two games of the series and, by doing so, have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. On the other hand, Pakistan have been given a massive reality check, and they have nothing but pride to play for in the third T20I. In the first two T20Is, the top-order batters failed to make a mark, and it has been the middle-order batters who have done the bulk of the scoring. The likes of Mohammad Haris, Saim Ayub, and Abdullah Shafique are due for a big score and will need to step up for Pakistan in this final game of the series. In his debut series, Ihsanullah has been the leader of Pakistan’s bowling attack, and he has been well supported by Imad Wasim and Zaman Khan. For Afghanistan, it has been the bowlers who have made the job easier for their batters. As they eye a series whitewash, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, and Najibullah Zadran would be expected to contribute with the bat. In the bowling department, Fazalhaq Farooqi has been the star for Afghanistan, and he has been complimented exceptionally well by the likes of Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Despite the scoreline reading 2-0 in favour of Afghanistan, both T20Is have been tight affairs, and the third T20I promises to be no exception. Will Afghanistan dish out a 3-0 hammering? Or will we see Pakistan salvage some pride with a consolation win? We shall find out soon enough.
