UPDATE - A couple of South African players have tested positive for COVID. Sarel Erwee and Wiaan Mulder have tested positive and will not be available for the match. Khaya Zondo (On Debut) and Glenton Stuurman are their replacement.

Simon Harmer is down for a chat. He says that it's been a great few days for them, they have set up everything nicely, but now they do not need to take things lightly. Mentions that he and Keshav Maharaj have always communicated well, and Maharaj helped him in Durban as well. Adds that there is a lot in this surface, they just have to get the ball in the right areas and let the pitch do the rest. Concludes by saying that the batters put the bowlers in the right position and scored a lot of runs. It's going to be a bit of cat and mouse, but they have to manage that and make sure things going their way.

South Africa had a good first innings score after they bundled out the tourists and they added another 176 runs at a quick rate and took the lead past the 400-mark. What do we expect on Day 4? Well, we saw the spinners start the proceedings with the red cherry and there was a good amount of purchase for them and just like the previous game, we could expect the spinners to finish the game. With all the momentum by their side, South Africa will hope for early inroads and bundle Bangladesh as soon as possible while Bangladesh will hope that atleast their skipper, Mominul Haque shows some determination with the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim and put on a good fight. South Africa gave a small tricky period for Bangladesh to handle on Day 3 but they lost three quick wickets and are looking fragile as they were seen in Durban in the previous match. They will need a miracle to save this Test match.

... DAY 4, SESSION 1 ...

Bangladesh need 386 runs to win with 7 wickets in hand and with plenty of time left. Spin twins, Keshav Maharaj, and Simon Harmer are already at work with the new ball, boy, it is spinning sharply. The day started with Bangladesh batting and ended with the same as well but with a whole different scenario. Rahim and Ali started the day with intent and played really well to cut the first innings score but once they both fell, Bangladesh were bundled out for 217. South Africa had a lead of 236 runs at that time and they added another 176 to stay in the commanding position. Dean Elgar declared the innings and asked Bangladesh to bat for a tricky period. They did it but in a cause of losing three wickets.

The new batsman will join on Day 4 as the umpire calls STUMPS on Day 3. Phew! A 'moving day' indeed! So many things have happened on this day and it is fair to say, South Africa are well ahead in the game. They need 7 wickets to win with an ample amount of runs to defend. Keshav Maharaj just loves to bowl when his team is in a winning position and he has shown that yet again as he has already grabbed two wickets of Bangladesh who had to tackle a very tricky period. Tamim Iqbal's wicket at the stroke of stumps was a pinch of salt to their wound as his wicket has made things even more difficult for them.

Bangladesh's tailenders did not add many runs at the start of the session and they were sent back to the hut quickly by the spin duo of South Africa. Coming into bowl, they did leak runs at the start, but they fought back with two wickets. It's once again, Taijul Islam who has caused trouble and has been rewarded with the wicket of Dean Elgar and Keegan Petersen. The pitch is assisting the spinners for now and things will get tougher for Bangladesh once they came out to bat again. Will South Africa declare today? We will find out. SESSION 2 - Overs - 24, Runs - 91, Wickets - 5. Plenty of action in this session! But it's South Africa that continues to remain in the driver's seat! After coming to bat again, Dean Elgar and Sarel Erwee started scoring at a brisk rate. However, Dean Elgar perished soon, and Keegan Petersen was also dismissed just at the stroke of Tea! However, Sarel Erwee is still at the crease and he is looking pretty comfortable for now. They already have a healthy lead of 320 runs, and they do have plenty of time and wickets in hand to add more runs. South Africa will be looking to add quick runs and put Bangladesh to bat once again. It will be interesting to see when they declare.

OUT! LBW! A huge appeal for LBW and up goes the finger! Petersen has a chat with Erwee and takes the review. UltraEdge shows no bat involved. Ball Tracking shows umpire's call on wickets hitting and the on-field decision stays. Session 1 - Overs 29 - Runs 71 - Wickets 2 - A hard fought session for Bangladesh and the wicket of Rahim at the brink of Lunch will hurt them. With two wickets, it will be South Africa who will enjoy Lunch more. The hosts were expected to come out hard again with the ball but the moisture made it hard for them to put pressure. Ali started the day with intent and was dealing in boundaries. He grew into the game nicely but so did the bowlers of South Africa, Wiaan Mulder, and Duanne Olivier were consistent in their bowling while Maharaj found his rhythm as the game progressed. Harmer was not used throughout the session but he was brought late into the attack and got the prized wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim.

UPDATE - 1:30 pm (8:00 am GMT) - Oh, dear! It has started to rain! Just when the players were out in the middle and we were ready for action, they walk back. The covers are on for now and the start will be delayed. The forecast seems much better later in the day.

We are ready for action on Day 3! The umpires walk out to the field and they have called the players out in the middle. No delay for now!

Wiaan Mulder is down for a chat. He says that in the context of the game, they are in a good place. Mentions that the team wanted him to get runs and he is happy to contribute and he is pleased with picking up wickets. States that he wanted to bowl at the stumps, but he did not bowl as well to right-handers as he did to the left-handers. He was keeping it fuller to the left-handers and attacking the stumps.

The conditions are gloomy and very dull, and it was also raining overnight. The floodlights have already been switched on. However, we should be able to start on time. Stay tuned for further updates!

Pitch Report - There was rain overnight but there is still good covering of grass and the conditions are perfect for bowling. The seamers will enjoy the condition but the spinners will play a key role as well.

The visitors are in a spot of bother. They have lost half their side and are still trailing by 314 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim and Yasir Ali were troubled a lot by the spinners but they did well to survive till the end. But things are only going to get tougher for them since it’s not going to be as easy to bat on. We have an intriguing first session coming up stay tuned!

South Africa ended Day 2 in a commanding position. After an exceptional batting performance, they were right on cue with the ball as well. Duanne Olivier and Wiaan Mulder caused a lot of trouble with their swinging deliveries and managed to grab 5 wickets. We did witness the spinners getting a lot of spin towards the end and coming into Day 3 they will be the ones causing problems to the batters.

The last session saw spinners getting some purchase and there was a great amount of turn. It is expected to stay the same on Day 3 and it will not be a good sign for Bangladesh, since they are already 5 down. Rahim showed his experience and made sure no more damage is done. 10 wickets fell on Day 2, five from either side. Day 3 promises to be more entertaining and it is all set to begin at 1.30 pm IST (8 am GMT), but do join us in advance for the build-up as well. Till then, cheers!

South Africa will be going back to bed pretty relaxed after their brilliant performance throughout the day. It was with the bat first, they added 175 runs, all thanks to Keshav Maharaj's wonderful performance. Mulder, Simon Harmer, and Williams played superb cameos and helped South Africa end the first innings with a mammoth score of 453. The momentum was with them and they continued their good work with the ball. It was the pacers though that troubled Bangladesh with the swing. Duanne Olivier early on and then it was Wiaan Mulder who troubled the left-handers with his probing lines and lengths. Bangladesh were ready to tackle the spinners but pacers came out of the syllabus. There was a good partnership between Iqbal and Shanto of 79 but nothing after that.

... DAY 2, SESSION 2 ...

Bangladesh started off well, they did trouble the batters early on with some swing, and Khaled Ahmed was rewarded with the wicket of Kyle Verreynne. But since then, it's been only South Africa! They were leaking runs after the drinks break. Once again, Taijul Islam and Khaled Ahmed have been the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh. Taijul Islam broke the partnership between Keshav Maharaj and Wiaan Mulder with a peach of a delivery. We could see the ball turning sharply towards the end and Bangladesh will be looking to come back and wrap the innings up. However, the pitch is still assisting the batters. Session 1 - Overs - 25, Runs - 106, Wickets - 2. Bangladesh will be pleased since they managed to grab a wicket at the stroke of Lunch, but the session has still belonged to the hosts. After losing Kyle Verreynne, Keshav Maharaj and Wiaan Mulder put together around 80 runs and guided South Africa to a score of 380. Maharaj came out to bat with some intent and started scoring runs at a brisk rate and he brought his 4th Test fifty within no time. Wiaan Mulder did perish just before the Lunch break, but that will not matter much, South Africa have already got a healthy total on the board and anything from here will be bonus runs!
