Right then. Shikhar Dhawan gets the ODI trophy and he poses with his team as they are celebrating their victory in this series. India are not able to inflict the whitewash as they lose out to Sri Lanka in the final ODI game, but this win will give Sri Lanka a morale boost. That is not all, from this tour, as after the ODI series, the 3-game T20I series will be upon on. The first of those will be played on Sunday, 25th July 2021 at 8 pm local (1430 GMT). We hope to have your company for that game. Until then, cheers!

The Indian captain, Shikhar Dhawan says that things didn't go their way and feels that they had a good start but lost wickets in the middle and hence, couldn't get a good score. Adds that he is happy that so many players got a game after staying in quarantine for a long time and mentions he is okay that he didn't do his best with the bat and always looks to improve. Mentions they were positive that they could defend the total but also knew they were 50 runs short and says that we all make mistakes and learn from them and improve.

SURYAKUMAR YADAV IS THE PLAYER OF THE SERIES. He says that he has been consistent for the past 2-3 years and his success mantra is working for him. Opines that he would have loved to make a big score, but he hopes to get better. On him bowling, he laughs and says that he is ready, if the team needs him to bowl. Feels that the atmosphere in the camp is very positive.

Dasun Shanaka, the Sri Lankan skipper, starts by congratulating India for winning the series and he is happy with the way they played in this game. Praises his bowlers and thinks that his bowlers showed character and hopes that they can continue this form. Tells that the guys need to play more and more cricket to get more reliable. Says that this win is for the fans as it has come after a long time and he thanks the players and the staff. Laughs and cheekily says that he enjoys his captaincy on the field, but not off the field.

AVISHKA FERNANDO IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He says that if he had done well in the second match, they could have won the match and the series, but is happy with this performance. Adds, after the England tour, he made improvements on his techniques and mentions that we have a very young side, and going forward, he believes that they will do well.

... Stay tuned for the Presentation ...

Earlier in the day, India started off on the right note, as they kept the scoreboard ticking and were scoring runs at a healthy rate, but all that changed, after the rain delay, as the Lankan spinners spun the Indian middle order into a web. It looked like they could cross 300, but folded for a measly score. In the end, Sri Lanka did enough, in all aspects of the game, to win the final game of the series.

Not a very bad bowling display by India, but yes, they did need some more from their bowlers. Cannot even blame them, as many of them were making their ODI debuts and were new to this stage of international cricket. India got a wicket early on, but took a while to get that second one, but by that time, the game was already slipping away from them. They took a couple of quick wickets, but with the total being slightly low, Sri Lanka did not have a lot of issues, closing the game out. Another issue was India's fielding as they dropped a load of catches and who knows, if they had been taken, they could have got something out of this game. Rahul Chahar bowled very well, getting three, whereas Chetan Sakariya got two to his name. Krishnappa Gowtham, too, got one under his belt, but it did not prove to be enough.

Even though the total was not a massive one, the Lankans would have wanted to start off with a bang, which would have eased some nerves and they did, just that. They lost a wicket early on, but the duo of Avishka Fernando and Bhanuka Rajapaksa made it a point to keep going on and not let the Indians have any sniff. Both of them go to their fifties, as they raised a stand of 109 runs, which made the job easier for the Lankans. Chetan Sakariya opened the door slightly for India, by taking 2 quick wickets. Charith Asalanka scored a few quick runs before he fell too. While all of this was going on, Fernando kept a hold on one end and even though Sri Lanka lost a flurry of wickets towards the end, they crossed the line.

Stop the press. Sri Lanka have FINALLY won an ODI game! This is also the first time that Sri Lanka have beaten India in an ODI game, since JULY 2012! It has been a long time coming and this has been a very good display from them to ensure that they get a win, firstly, and secondly, that they avoid getting whitewashed by the Indians.

OUT! STUMPED! Sharp work by Samson sees Sri Lanka lose another wicket. Commentary

Time for the run chase. The Indian players make their way out into the middle, spreading out to their respective positions on the field. Minod Bhanuka and Avishka Fernando are the openers for the hosts. Navdeep Saini will begin with the ball. Two slips in place. Here we go...

Right then. 227 needed for Sri Lanka as India get an extra run, with the DLS updated score. Sri Lanka will look to avoid a whitewashing at the hands of India. They will believe and will come out, looking to take the final game. The visitors have a rather inexperienced bowling attack and they will want to leave a mark, in this game. Will Sri Lanka chase this down easily? Or will India make things harder for the hosts? Join us for the run chase shortly.

Sri Lanka will be pleased with how they have bowled in this game. Yes, they were not at their best, before the rain break, but when they came out after that, they let none of the Indian batters survive. From a position of strength, India slipped and were reeling, all thanks to the spin duo of Akila Dananjaya and Praveen Jayawickrama. They both shared 6 wickets and ran through the middle order of India, after the rain break. Dushmantha Chameera got a wicket early on and then, the last wicket. Dasun Shanaka and Chamika Karunaratne got one each and were decent too. Brilliant from the Islanders!

India's batting can be cut into two halves, perfectly. They started off slightly poorly as Dhawan went back quickly. But then, Shaw and Samson raised a 74-run stand, before Shaw missed out on his half-century, getting out on 49. Samson, followed suit, as he lost out on his debut half-century, giving an easy catch when he was on 46. Yadav and Pandey were looking assured, but then rain decided to pay a visit and after play resumed after the break, it seemed that the Indians lost their rhythm, and also, the Sri Lankan spinners got some more purchase off the deck. From 157/3, they slipped to 195/8. Saini and Chahar showed some fight and pushed India to around the 220-run mark, before India were bowled out.

What an inspired bowling display this has been by the Lankans here. Their spinners have spun the Indian batters in a web and have bundled them out for 225, which is a rather tame score. If not for Navdeep Saini and Rahul Chahar towards the end, they might have not even crossed 200.

43.1W

OUT! CAUGHT! That's the end of the Indian innings. Chameera bowls a stinging bouncer into the body and there's nothing much Saini could do about it, really. Tries to fend it away but the ball gets the glove and pops up towards point and Avishka Fernando runs in to take a simple catch. INDIA END ON 225!

Review time. Sri Lanka have taken a review for the LBW decision which was given OUT onfield. The delivery was really full and hit Charith Asalanka in front, the review shows that this one is as straight as it gets and would hit the base of middle. Review lost and Asalanka is back to the pavilion.

OUT! LBW! Hardik finally gets a wicket and India get their fourth, but it seems like it has come too late. A slower dipping full toss, on middle and leg, Asalanka looks to clip this gently to the leg side, but he misses and gets hit on his boot. An appeal from Hardik, a polite enquiry, actually, and the umpire raises his finger. DRINKS BREAK. India, and especially, Chetan Sakariya have done well in the past 10 overs to stem the flow of runs as Chetan took 2 wickets and applied some pressure on the hosts. But, with the total being low, pushing the ball around, for singles and doubles, will see Sri Lanka cross the line. They just need 56 more in 108 balls and if they continue in the same way for the next 10 overs, then they should coast home. But who knows? A couple of wickets and the game can turn on it's head. This is bowled on the pads, on a length, Bhanuka Rajapaksa looks to help this one over the fine leg region and whips it, off his hips. Gets the height, but not the distance.

OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Excellent bowling and this is another wicket for the Lankans. Rana, who was the last recognized batter for India, has to go back. Another huge wicket and India are 8 down here. Floated, around off, Nitish Rana makes room and looks to drive this through the cover region. The ball turns away, takes the outside edge and Minod Bhanuka does not need two invitations to accept this chance. Sri Lanka will be looking to take the final two wickets and wrap the innings up quickly.

Review time. The decision was OUT! On the replay, we can that the ball missed the bat and would have gone on to hit the sticks. The review was only taken as this was the last recognized batting pair but unfortunately, it doesn't work out. Krishnappa Gowtham is a goner!

32.3W

OUT! LBW! Another one bites the dust. Sri Lanka are on top here. Bowls a loopy full toss, on middle, Gowtham looks to play the paddle shot to the leg side, but misses. This looks plumb. OUT! LBW! What a review this is. Superb from Sri Lanka. They have come out swinging, after the rain break. Suryakumar Yadav was looking very dangerous prior to the rain break, but after that, has looked shaky and he loses his wicket here. This is again given a lot of air, around off, SKY comes ahead and looks to defend this one out, but misses and the ball seems to have hit the pad first, then bat. An appeal but the umpire shakes his head. Shanaka straightaway decides that the review should be taken. Replays and Ultra Edge show that the ball hit the pad first. Ball Tracker shows that it is three reds. SKY shakes his head and has to head back. The spinners are doing the trick for the hosts!

Sri Lanka have reviewed the LBW decision which was originally given NOT OUT. The bowler, Akila Dananjaya looks absolutely sure and Shanaka takes the review right away. Very close but the ball did hit the pad first and after that everyone knew that it would go on to hit the middle and off stump. The onfield umpire is signaled to change his call to OUT and SKY walks back in disappointment. Again, excellent review. This is probably the biggest wicket at this stage of the game. Sri Lanka will look to pile on the pressure now.

Sri Lanka have taken a review for LBW. The onfield umpire had given it NOT OUT but Sri Lanka are convinced otherwise. Pitching in line, impact in line and wickets hitting! Great review as it was important to get rid of the dangerman Hardik. Kumar Dharmasena reverses his decision to OUT!

28.3W

OUT! LBW! Praveen Jayawickrama takes another one and the review sends Hardik back to the hut. Tossed up, on middle, Pandya looks to play inside the line, thinking that the ball will not turn as much, but the ball spins in, missing the pad and hits Pandya on his back thigh pad. An appeal but the umpire shakes his head. Sri Lanka opt for the review this time. Ultra Edge shows no participation of the bat. Ball Tracker rolls in and.....THREE REDS! UPDATE 18:01 local (12:31 GMT) - Looks like we finally have some concrete and good news for ya'll, folks! Play will resume at 18:30 local (13:00 GMT), it will also be a 47-overs-a-side game, providing the rain does not come back for another serving. There are revised playing conditions as well. Two bowlers can complete the quota of 10 overs, while 3 bowlers can bowl 9 overs.

UPDATE 17:55 local (12:25 GMT) - The rain has stopped quite a while back, but the groundstaff continue their mop-up job. No overs have been lost, so far, but we are closing in on that territory, if there are some more delays. Doesn't look likely though. Shouldn't be long before we are back again.

Updating you with news about some other games going around the globe, at the moment. Zimbabwe and Bangladesh are locking horns in the second T20I of a 3-game T20I series. On the back of a cracking 73 by Wesley Madhevere, Zimbabwe have post a total of 166 at the end of their innings. Some handy cameos from Myers and Burl also helped. For Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam was the pick of the lot, snaring 3 to his name. Should be a cracking run chase. Check out our coverage of that game, but keep an eye here, as we update you with all the news.

UPDATE 17:15 local (11:45 GMT) - Good news, folks! It seems that the rain has stopped pouring down and the covers are going off as well. The pitch is still slightly waterlogged and hence, might take some more time, before we get going again. Stay tuned.

UPDATE 17:08 local (11:38 GMT) - Well, looks like we are out of lady luck at the moment. It seems that it has started pouring down heavily and the ground is almost entirely covered, at the moment. Looks like we are in for a rather long delay. Stay tuned as we bring you all the updates.

UPDATE 16:50 local (11:20 GMT) - Looks like rain has decided to play a visit here. It has started to get heavy and the umpires decide that the players will need to walk off here. The covers come on as well. Let us hope that it is nothing but a short delay and we are back with the action, sooner, rather than later.

22.20

Around off, pushed to covers.

Suryakumar Yadav has been given out LBW! He checks with his partner Manish Pandey and decides to take the review. There's no spike and hence the only thing that could save him would be if the ball has hit the pads outside the line of off stump. There's a long wait for Ball Tracking. Finally Ball Tracking arrives and there's some confusion but the impact is just outside off and hence the on-field decision has been overturned. NOT OUT!

22.10

NOT OUT! Took a long time, but finally, since the impact was outside off, Suryakumar Yadav survives. A very full ball, around the off pole, SKY gets low and looks to sweep this one but the ball seems to have gone underneath the bat, on the way to hit the pad. A very loud appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Yadav has a chat with Pandey and decides to take the review this time. Ultra Edge shows that there is no bat involved here. There is a wait as Ball Tracker is yet to come on. Surya is pensive, chewing his gum and waiting to see if he has survived, or if he has to take the long walk back. Yawnnnnn. Where is that Ball Tracker? I ordered it an hour backkkk! Finally, Ball Tracker rolls in this time. SKY survives as the impact is deemed to be outside the line off the off pole. The Sri Lankan players celebrate as Ball Tracker shows the wickets  to be hitting and the umpire has to inform them, that it will be not out.

DRINKS BREAK. India started briskly again but this time Dhawan got out early for 13 runs and Sri Lanka tried to put more pressure on the visitors. Though, Shaw along with the debutant, Samson steadied the ship and looked very comfortable out there. Sanju soon started playing his shots against the spinners and the duo also raised a 50-run stand, before Shaw was adjudged out for LBW, while on 49. Now, India will look to continue and keep the scorecard ticking, while, the hosts will look to keep taking more wickets. Manish Pandey is the new batter in!

15.5W

OUT! LBW! Shaw has been given out on 49 by the umpire! It was a gentle length delivery around middle and just coming in a bit. Shaw shuffles across to flick the ball on the leg side and get his maiden half-century but it wasn't meant to be as he misses the ball and is outdone by Dasun Shanaka. The on-field umpire gives it as out as Shaw decides to take the review. Ultra Edge does not save him and Ball Tracker shows THREE REDS, which means that Shaw has to make the long walk back to the Pavillion. He was so close and maybe, just maybe, got a little nervous. Wicket at the right time for the Lankans!

Review time! Prithvi Shaw is on 49 and he has been given out for LBW. He decides to take the review. Let's see if it saves him. Ultra Edge shows that there is no bat involved. Ball Tracker rolls in and it is THREE REDS. Heartbreak for Shaw as he heads back here.

Another loud appeal for LBW but the umpire is still not interested! Tossed up, around off, Dhawan prods ahead and looks to defend, but seems to have inside edged it on his pad. There is a discussion on whether they should take the review or not. In the end, with just one review left, they decide not to take it.

SL have taken DRS. The bowler seems confident about the LBW shout and after a lot discussion, Dasun Shanaka does take the review. However, the replay shows that the impact was outside off but the ball had straightened and would have gone on to miss the off pole. An error in judgement from SL.

1.50

NOT OUT! Sri Lanka waste a review here. Tossed up, outside off, Dhawan prods forward and pads this one away to the off side. There is a loud appeal from the bowler, for LBW, but the umpire does not even flinch. Just as the timer is about to go off, Sri Lanka opt to take the review. Sri Lanka (Playing XI) - Avishka Fernando, Minod Bhanuka (WK), Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Dasun Shanaka (C), Ramesh Mendis (In place of Lakshan Sandakan), Chamika Karunaratne, Akila Dananjaya (In place of Wanindu Hasaranga), Dushmantha Chameera, Praveen Jayawickrama (In place of Kasun Rajitha).

India (Playing XI) - Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan (C), Sanju Samson (WK) (In place of Ishan Kishan) (DEBUT), Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav, Nitish Rana (In place of Krunal Pandya) (DEBUT), Hardik Pandya, Krishnappa Gowtham (In place of Deepak Chahar) (DEBUT), Rahul Chahar (In place of Yuzvendra Chahal) (DEBUT), Navdeep Saini (In place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar), Chetan Sakariya (In place of Kuldeep Yadav) (DEBUT).

Dasun Shanaka, the skipper of Sri Lanka, says that the wicket is dry and the wicket will hold a bit, as the game goes on. States that they have 3 changes to their side, as Kasun Rajitha, Wanindu Hasaranga and Lakshan Sandakan are out and Praveen Jayawickrama, Akila Dananjaya and Ramesh Mendis come in. Feels that they are on the right track at the moment.

Shikhar Dhawan, the Indian captain, says that they haven't batted first yet and want to put up a good total on board. States that they have made six changes, including 5 debutants- Samson, Sakariya, Rana, Rahul Chahar, and Gowtham. Navdeep Saini also comes into the team. Adds that they are motivated and want to finish on a high leading to the T20 World Cup and the youngsters are excited about this opportunity.

TOSS - We are all in readiness for the flip of the coin. Both the captains are out in the middle and India wins the toss. Shikhar Dhawan does his iconic thigh five, as he is happy to have won the toss and INDIA HAS ELECTED TO BAT FIRST!

As expected, 5 Indian players have been handed their debut caps. The five new faces will be Sanju Samson, Nitish Rana, Chetan Sakariya, Krishnappa Gowtham and Rahul Chahar. Congratulations to the new boys!

Hardik Pandya is in for a chat. Says that the boys have shown great character in the way they have played. Mentions that he is a hundred percent fit and is not too fussed about his own form as he says that it's all part of the game and he has more good days than the bad ones. Further stresses that it's all about believing in his own abilities. On comparisons between him and SKY, about their tattoos, he says that it's not a competition between him and SKY but yes, they both love tattoos.

Uh oh! Looks like Sri Lanka's problems are going from bad to worse. One of their best performers for them in the last 2 games, WANINDU HASARANGA, has been ruled out of this game, as he has suffered a muscle tear. You know the saying - when it rains, it pours!

With this being a dead rubber in terms of the series, we should expect India to make a couple of changes and hand chances to youngsters and there should be some debuts today as well. For Sri Lanka, the stakes are slightly higher, as they will want to pouch the 10 points of the World Cup Super League and they might look to send their best eleven. Regardless of whatever changes both sides make, we hope that this game replicates the emotion and thrill that the second ODI served us!

Hello, folks! Time for the third and final ODI of the series between Sri Lanka and India. The series has already been wrapped up by the Men in Blue and so, there is not a lot of play for, in the context of the series, but still, both teams have something to fight for, as India will be looking to display that their 'B' team can go to another country and whitewash the hosts comprehensively. Whereas, the Lankans have pride to play for, as they will want to end this series with a win and not allow India to take all the honors. Which team comes out victorious? We shall find out soon enough. Stay tuned as we bring you all the updates from this game.
